took back Mortal Kombat for Ghost Recon. What a smart move it was. This game is sweet. If you want a game that takes strategy instead of running around and shooting people, then get this. I put it in the xbox and went straight to live. I was getting wasted left and right, so i played one player campaign. It helps you out a lot. A couple hours and missions in campaign and i was back on live wasting the people who were wasting me. This game is awesome.
Played all of the games and by far, Ghost Recon is the best Xbox Live game (it has a pretty great single player game as well).

I bought this game after beta-testing the XBOX live for a few months. I was looking for another quality "Live" experience. I was very surprised at how consuming this game has become. First, the quality of the other "live" players is the highest I've experienced. They are all helpful and considerate. Unlike my experiences with some of the MotoGP and Mech Assault crew. The game offers many challenges like cooperative and last-man-standing. Secondly, the off-line individual game and 50 challenges included create a very captivating gaming experience. The enemies move in a dynamic and unpredictable fashion. Every game is unique, even if you restart a previously-played level. Finally, the element of realism is unsurpassed by any game I've played, incuding HALO. Naturally Halo is a Sci-Fi game, however the reaction to hits that the enemies endure and the noises that they make is astonding. Add to this, Dolby 5.1 surround and DVD-quality picture, make Ghost Recon an absolute must for the XBOX and makes the XBOX a Must for Console gamers.
Probably the best multiplayer game available for Xbox Live! The game play is superb, and the models are incredibly detailed! Definitely not just another console port.
The only issue with this game is that there is a widespread problem finding MP servers due to upload speed connection requirements, a problem that, according to Ubisoft, is being worked out. I don't know how they intend to fix it, but the Live community is understandably upset and will remain so until they do solve the problem.
I would definitely buy this game, in spite of this one imperfection.
GHOST RECON IS KINDA LIKE HALO IN A SENSE WHEN YOUR HUNTING DOWN THE ENEMY BUT MY PROBLEM IS WHRN U FINNALLY FIND SOMEONE SHOTS COME OUT OF NOWHERE AND BEFORE U CAN HANDLE THE SITUATION YOUR TEAM IS DEAD NOW THAT WAS MY PROBLEM AND I DIDNT CARE FOR FIRST PERSON SHOOTING EITHER .BUT IF U LIKE ARMY SHOOTING GAMES THIS
IS THE GAME THE GRAPHICS ARE GREAT AND THE SOUND IS AWESOME BUT BE PREPARED TO GET MAD WHEN YUOR GETTING AMBUSHED AND CANT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT THATS REALLY MY ONLY DISLIKE IN THE GAME .ITS NO
SPLINTER CELL BUT ALL IN ALL ANOTHER GOOD CLANCY GAME.
BRIAN
Have you ever wanted to command a group of specially trained soliders into combat? Well now it's your chance!!! This game is based in a courpt future when a sinister political party siezes control in Mosscow(The capital of Russia). This party bassicaly is trying to bring back the old soviet empire. You'll find out the detaills in the game.In this game you will be able to travel through 15 unique landscapes. The game play is awesome and your AI's and enemies react differnt to each senario like real soliders do! I personally think this is one of the best Squad Based Game EVER!!! This game may not be for everybody, but I personally Give it a 4.7/5 and I really, really suggest it to war junkies.
Though clearly engineered with the XBox Live connection in mind, this game is phenomenal as a stand-alone as well. The sights and sounds are so realistic that it's very easy to lose yourself in the game. At one point, belly-crawling a sniper into the brush at night, I had a turtleneck pulled up over my nose and my hat pulled down close to my eyes...if I owned night-vision goggles, I would have had them on! This game is really an EXPERIENCE. Don't miss it. My only criticism of the game is that without the Live connection, it might be too short for those of us who sometimes play in 8-hour blocks. This is probably the best Xbox game I've played since HALO.
Great game, it puts you in the middle of combat. It is so much better than the PC version. And online play is the best I have experienced, I have not seen any lag at all while playing and it is fun talking to others.
Ghost Recon is a phenomenal game and is now my favorite game of all time. It is a first person shooter perspective, but you control five other teammates. Your squad is broken down into two three man teams. At the beginning of a mission you decide if you want riflemen, support (heavy machine gun), demolitions, or snipers on your squad. Once in the game you direct the men where to go. If the soldier you are controlling is in Alpha, they will follow your lead all the time. The Bravo soldiers will go on their own and do what you directed them to. You can split up the squad, or keep all six together. If you need a different perspective you can take over control of any of the six soldiers.
So this is a thinking man's shooter, and the balance between strategy and intense firefight action is perfect. I love the urban warfare scenarios where you fight in alleys and go room to room clearing a building. Very intense, and much harder than outdoor warfare. Expect lots of casualties.
The graphics are really good, and the game has great replay value.
This game requires field tactics, patience, and planning (i.e. Halo players will need to slow down). Of available games, this one may best represent the feel of real special ops.
Interaction: Control of play is rarely interupted by jerky movement that frequently happens with many games quickly ported over from other game systems. You know it is good when you don't notice.
Realism: While the graphics aren't leading edge detail, game play is believable and incoporates a certain mysterious fog of war display. Programmers did a great job of immersing you into the environment that is sometimes hazy, rainy, or dark.
Replayability: Because of the difficulty levels (recruit, veteran, elite), map selectability, and variable number of players, this game has been played in my house for many months. A few of my friends have become addicted to its theraputic quality. One even purchased an XBOX solely because of this game. We worked through the difficulty levels and then went in with fewer and fewer players. You're hooked when you setup for multiplayer, but with only one player each. Then take in only one and leave the other behind on ELITE (conserve your ammo).
Linked Play: Not much play but seemed effective.
AI: Is pretty good. However at choke points enemies will keep coming despite the growing pile of dead bodies. It would have been more intuitive to have them search for alternate paths.
Sequel: Island Thunder is coming soon (August 4th)
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is an incredibly fun first person shooter. If you like military squad based games, this is definately for you. The graphics (when it came out) were pretty top-notch and had some extremely fun multiplayer gametypes. I actually didn't start playing this game until Island Thunder was already out (which I played like crazy!) and it still held up as a great game. The sounds in the game really made it seem realistic, like you were actually there on the battlefield. I mean, looking back at it today, the game doesn't hold up in terms of graphics and presentation, but the gameplay is still one the best shooters there has been. Everything worked in it, it wasn't that hard to pick up and play, and the fact that it actually played like a tactical shooter made it stand out from the rest.
Okay, let's now talk about it's Xbox Live play. In simple terms, "it was fantastic." There were plenty of maps available, all with different environments. You could choose what class you wanted to play as, Rifleman, Snipers, Support, and Demolition, and then pick your gun kit, which there were also plenty to choose from. You could play the multiplayer portion of this game for hours on end and not get bored, something that's hard to come by these days (except GRAW, hehe).
Presentation:
One big gripe about the presentation of this game was that the menus were kinda difficult to navigate through (kinda like GR2). This drove me nuts a bit, but this was fixed by the time Island Thunder came out.
Graphics:
In it's day, Ghost Recon for the Xbox had some pretty sweet graphics, unlike other games on the market back then. It seemed pretty realistic and along with the sound made a great gaming experience.
Sound:
The sound in this game was pretty fantastic when it was released. Everything seemed very realistic and gave the gamer a great gaming experience. Explosions, bullets firing...exerything was great!
Gameplay:
This was probably my favorite aspect of this game. It played like a great military squad based shooter and was very tactical, unlike the run and gun games we find on the market today. The gameplay is truly what gave this game it's kick.
Lasting Appeal:
With it's great multiplayer aspects and Live capabilities, this game had great lasting appeal. People played it up to and through GRIT, and some even played till GR2 came out. Talk about lasting appeal...this game definatley had some!!!
Great game its about as real as it gets not like halo or metal gear solid. Very fun i would pay twice the price. If you like a ton of guns and lots of levels its the game for you. Cant say how much fun it is.
Far from your typical squad based shooter; Ghost Recon has a few things that distinguish it from the rest. You have two squads at your command, Alpha and Bravo; each has a squad leader and two additional squad mates. Each squad operates as a unit and cannot be separated into individuals. However, you can tell a squad to go over to a certain place, like making Alpha team hide at the top of a cliff and pick off any incoming enemy soldiers heading toward your position as you make your way to take out an enemy hideout.
GR has four different classes for each member of your squads (e.g. demolition and your basic infantry). The game does not stop there it allows you to pick each members weapon and secondary weapon (which there are a lot of). Ghost Recon has some RPGish elements to it. The more any member of the GR team is used, the better his skills will get. If you get a squad mate hurt in battle he will have to take some time out of action if you want him to heal or you can keep him in the fray, risking the loss of a soldier. If you lose a man on the field he is gone for the rest of the mission.
The battles in this game are fast, furious and truly intense. You will get breaks in the action to catch your breath. The AI in this game will have you second guessing almost every thing you do, they will suppress you with fire and have other members try to flank you. They will use this maneuver often but on occasion they will employ other ways to fill you full of lead. You must use strategy; you cannot go into an enemy base with guns blazing and expect to be successful.
Although there are now new and improved titles in the Ghost Recon series, this is all in all a great game which is now playable on the Xbox 360 as well.
This is a great game to play, but i would not go as far as to say the best xbox game. I still can not match the experience of HALO the game of all games. Ghost recon though helps me cope with my withdrawl symptoms.
The graphics are nice. I couldn't just grab the controller and star killing everything, It takes practice and a little bit of strategy. in the end, I couldn't stop playing ! it was addicting in every ways. I have signed up for xbox live..........WOW. Its a whole new game, but not just that.......playing with and against others makes this game high up with halo and DOA 3! Please don't tell me you don't have sourround 5.1?....oh man!
