This is a great game for star wars fans and non star wars fans. It is just pure fun. I believe it is better than its sequel(jedi's kinda ruin it). It is one of my favorite shooter games and is great if you just want to jump in a battle and kick $%#.
Don't listen to the disappointments. Multi-player (online mode) makes the game what it is..............A+. This game is one I will be playing over and over for a long while. Definitely a buy (if you rent you will be charged for late fees b/c you will want to continue playing or you will miss playing once you have returned it and it is checked out for a year).
Guys, This game is the best! I have friends who HATED star wars stuff that were playing this game! This and Halo 2 will/ have topped the charts! What makes this game so unique to other star wars games is it's battlefield senario- (thus the name). It is almost exactly like 'Medal of Honor' or anyother battle game made for modern systems to a MUCH MUCH greater scale! You can chose from, as said, the rebels or the empire and even the clones! You can be clones or AI as in the movies Episode II and III of Star Wars. The action NEVER stops in this game! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!
Ive seen the trailers that have been circulating on the web on this game and i must say i need this game. The battles are HUGE and they look better than CS!
The multiplayer looks like Halo, with vehicles and people fighting in the same maps, sweet!
Im happy to see that Lucas Arst is finally making an online game for XBOX. The PC versions are awesome but there (...) since you have to pay every month???
Anyway, this is looking to be a great game, at least until NOVEMBER 09, 2004!!!!!
HAHAHA(...)
If you're like me, you've been disappointed with most games that have come out for the Xbox because Halo set such a high standard that other games can't compare. Although Star Wars Battlefront is no Halo, it is the closest any action game besides Halo has come to meeting the expectations that I have had for the system.
Keep in mind the scope of this game. Many people have given unfair reviews because it didn't include things like the assault against the Death Star. Anyone who can read the back of the package can see that this is not the purpose of the game. The game seeks to allow the opportunity to experience the Star Wars movies from the point of view of the average grunt. The movies show just the heroes winning the major battles, but often the tides are turned by a few soldiers that don't get the glory.
Battlefront provides the chance to play as a regular joe. In this game, you're the person who has to run away from Darth Vader. Fighting a Sith Lord is the job of a Jedi. If you go up against him, you will die. Instead, help your side by carjacking an AT-AT, or or capturing a strategic piece of the battlefield. If you buy this game, buy it knowing that blowing up the Death Star and fighting with Light Sabers are dealt with in the other 200 Star Wars games that are out there. This one is too busy keepin' it real.
Yes, I like playing on Naboo: Plains more than any other level. But how can you not have a good time playing this game? I love being able to have some level of control of my allies, not as much as Star Wars: Republic Commando's, but enough to give some support when you need it. It does get repeditive feel after a while. All in all is a great fun game to play and you don't need to be some uber-player to enjoy it.
Iam am very surprised that someone else didnt make a game like Starwars Battlefront, Its very fun and addicting indeed. First off if you think this game wouldnt be much fun before you tried it think again.
I mean who doesnt want to play with tons of diffrent soilder including soildiers from the empire republic the rebels and sepritist. Each of these has there own favorite characters, For the Empire you get a guy who has a jet pack which you can shoot up really fast and pop down behing some one and shoot them with your shotgun laser gun.
for the republic you get a guy like the empires that has a jet pack but doest shoot up really fast instead you get to control your guy when flying around he holds a lot of gerdades and has a missle laucher.
The rebels have the Wookies and he has a gerdade launcher that shoots gerdades, the Wookies in this game are very toufh and have mines.
The sepritist have the Destroyer droids you know the ones that look like a rolie pollie, they have rechagble shields and move fast only in that mode were the role, they can not order characters and carry gernades.
Cammand in over 20 vehlicals like the sepritist tanks, tie fighter xwings, and a asorment of turrets some big some small.
Fight battles in many diffrent worlds, like kaimino, tatooine, genoisis, Yavin 4, bespin (cloud city), Naboo, Hoth, ren var and more.
Fight with the ewokes and wookies, have a jedi master be on your side with your troops, like Darth Vader, Doouke, luke sky walker,
and mace windu. sadly you dont get to play them, but they are ivincble.
You can tell some of your troops what to do like follow you, or stay put, and move out. Have 200 to 250 of your guys on the battle field.
Exclusive footage from the first five films.
On the battle field it's huge and the maps are enormus.
has excellent graphics,
The characters movements make it more life like,
Massive online battles.
only thing bad about the game is the compters or AI are kinda stupid you throw a gernade the will keep running at it and dont try to get away and take cover. Besides that its awsome!
Hope you have fun!!
Jesse.

this is a good game but this is way too much to pay for it. like seriously it came out years ago others sell it for $16 new.
Star Wars Battlefront allows you to play as some of the best troops ever, such as the Rebel Alliance, Imperials, Republic, and CIS (Confederacy of Independent Systems). The 3-D graphics make it easier to enjoy; as well for sound and storyline. In Battlefront, you can not play as featured characters in the saga, but you get to fight alongside them in epic duels. Another disadvantage is you can't wield a lightsaber either. In Instant Action, you get to pick any location, and any side to fight for. You also have the choice to choose clone wars and galactic civil war.
As a matter of fact, you can drive vehicles, but no space combat! If you want to play on Episode III battlefields, your hopes are up. Only locations from episodes I, II, IV, V, and VI. There are numbers of areas to battle on. But for pros and cons, cons are going to have a hard time through the game such as: What type of soldier? Where is my command post? Where is my enemy at? For pros there is nothing wrong.
Star Wars battlefront is one of the best star wars games there is about Star Wars, along with the perfect gameplay, terrific graphics, and great sound. I highly recommend the game to any star wars buff's out there!
Star Wars Battlefront on the XBOX is a very good game. It is an excellent 3rd or first person shooter. The graphics are top notch, and it is pretty much the same game as Battlefield 1942 for the Mac and PC, where you are one of 2 armies and you win by controlling control points on the map. You can pick 5 classes of character (though I really only found 2 to be very usefull), and can pilot over 30 vehicles from the Star Wars universe. The one player game is very good, but way too short, but where the game really shines is in the multiplayer. You can play with up to 16 People over XBOX live or via LAN, though LAN is the best because the LIVE version is a bit laggy. Now my biggest complaint is that when you pick sides it doesn't inform you how many people are on either side, and there is no option to be able to hear the people on the opposite team, as I was playing the other day with 1 friend of mine, and we couldn't communicate. A good hint for XBOX live, is when selecting a game select less people for the game, I have good luck setting it for 10 or less people, and have gotten some really good connections, with higher connections I lag out too often.
I rented this game and let me just say that it is awesome. I started to play it and couldnt put the controller down. Awesome game definetly a game to go pick up.
People dont worry!!!! you may think this game sucks with no space battles no plyable jedi, weak enemy A.I. and all that but when Battlefront II comes out, all that will be fixed. But the thing is you must unlock the Jedi to play as them!
i thought this game was great and has the best splitscreen play of any firstperson shooter i have ever played. I couldn't find any downsides to the game and all the reviews i read on it were good. For Splitscreen you choose one of the huge and detailed maps to fight agianst youre friends. on single player you can capture planets, fight lots of the battles from the movies, or just hop right into a battle on any map as the Cis, Republic, Empire, or Rebels. I wouldn't get this game if you only have one controler or don't have xbox live. The only real downside to this game was VERY minor. Jedi are impossible to kill. Also during the battles you reincarnate as a sniper, rocket launcher guy, machine gunner, pilot, or a unique charecter that varies throught the missions such as a guy with a jet pack or a wookie. You can also get in tons of different vehichles and planes that vary from map to map. Overall i would give this game two thumbs up.
P.S. (Don't buy this game if you ABSOLUTLY HATE the Star Wars theme)
THE SHORT: Great for pick-up-and-play. Fun and addictive, interesting and strategic without going too deep. This isn't a complex war-simulator, this is a fun action/shooter.
THE LONG: I'll begin by skipping any talk of re-living Star Wars battles and how accurate the scenarios are, etc. Yes I'm a Star Wars fan, you probably are too if you're reading this, and you don't need to worry, this game gets the feel down just fine.
So how is the actual game itself?
Very fun. I played the demo on a rented copy of the SW dvds since I just wanted to see them, having bought a bootleg of the original versions on dvd. Once I played the demo, I was hooked for hours on the one level offered. Getting the full game, I played for days on end and was happy to see that some finishing touches made the gameplay better than the demo with such things as seeing enemy troops on the map and more adjustable options.
In this game, you pick from about 20 levels that range in terrain (forest of Endor, desert of Tattooine, ice planet Hoth, etc) and complexity (open levels, levels with trees and caves for cover, passageways, elevated positions, etc). You'll find several that you want to play over many times. Once you pick a level, you pick a side (Rebels or Empire for the old schoolers, or CIS robots and the Clone Troopers for the new trilogy). Sorry, no way to play the Rebels against the Clone Troopers and mixes like that, but with 4 sides to choose from in almost every battleground and 5 troop types per faction, you'll have a lot of fun messing around.
The game is greatly set up for pick up and play-style action. Once you pick your stage and side, you begin. Just pick one of your bases to spawn your soldier, and you're good to go. Walk through the stage at your discretion, fighting how you want to. Jump into a melee and back up your brothers with blaster rifle blazing, throw projectiles from afar, or do some sniping. There's nothing more satisfying in this game than watching some Imperial drones (or Rebel scum if you prefer) run past your Endor tree and then jumping out behind them and capping a few, only to run back into the safety of the foliage while your comrades engage them.
The controls are quick, easy and adjustable, and there's not much worry involved. Just have fun: When your energy bar runs out, pick a soldier again and hop back into the fray as much as you want until your side dies off or wins. Don't worry about ammo since you have a fair amound and it gets replenished with each respawning or with supply droids that you stand next to. Just fight, run, blast, die, then keep coming back and taking down as many troops as you can. But remember that you can always quietly snipe or jump into the continually respawning rides (Tauntauns, X-wings, AT-ATs) for a change of pace.
The game is engineered for strategy too. On easy you can win a lot of battles with a quick trigger finger. But go up in difficulty and you'll find that quickly overtaking the sniper towers on Kashyyk gives you a huge advantage over just storming the beach Normandy style. You can always throw on "Instant Action Heroes" to spice things up too, giving each side an invincible lightsaber wielding toughie to deal with. Unfortunately no, you yourself cannot play as one of the main people such as Luke or Vader or wield your own lighsaber for that matter. At first, though I knew this was clearly a game more worried about the infantry battles in Star Wars, I still wished I could play as a Jedi. But believe me, the game is just right as it is- playing as a Jedi or using a lightsaber would make you pretty much unstoppable and take out the entire strategic and competitive core that makes this game so fun. A cool unlockable perhaps, but play this game for a day and you won't miss it.
Lastly, aside from the quick play mode there's a story mode that basically follows the events of the films and lets you follow them, playing them as the series' history dictated. That's decent, as is the conquest mode which lets you try to win as many battles as you can until you conquer all of the planets, or lose and watch the opponent try to do the same to you, battle by battle. Unfortunately, these are all only slight variations on the same theme, and it never comes down to more than a different structure for participating in the same 20 battlegrounds. It's funner just to have a friend or go online for more human competition, but even without, the battles that stretch across all of the game modes are extremely fun and addicting nonetheless.
With almost no badly designed or unexciting level designs and coupled with an addictive engine and lots of ways to fight any battle, to me this game is very well made and worthy of a purchase. Non Star Wars fans can probably enjoy it on the same level as a Dynasty Warriors title or similar constant-action game as well. It's a solid title that's easy to pick up and enjoy but deep enough to keep trying new strategies and setups. The negatives are that there isn't much variation on the battle-by-battle theme, and the unlockables are worthless (game design photos, etc). But for a fun action shooter, especially one that's so easy to get into, this one's solid.
this game is down right awesome. For those who like bf1 u must get this, and 4 those who like star wars u must get this.Overall its a great game and i think everyone would love this game everyone should get it.
