Need for Speed Underground is a pretty good racing game. Its not bad. I would reccomend renting it first before buying it. There are better racing games out, such as Project Gotham Racing 2, but this is not a real bad choice if you are looking for a street racing game. There are many different types of racing in this game though, like drag racing too. The "go underground" mode is the main mode and the best mode in this game. You can completely trick out your car to make it the most stylish and famous ride on the road. Plus, you can make magazine covers and gan respect and street cred. The graphics are pretty good, and there is a good framerate and sense of speed. There is a style points system, a little similar to the kudos system seen in Project Gotham Racing 1 & 2, but truthfully, its not as well done. It just seems tacked on. I don't like every song on the soundtrack either and some annoy me, but there are some decent songs, such as the ones by Rancid and Rob Zombie(two awesome bands). So, if this game is so good why only a 3 out of 5? Well, it just doesen't seem extremely fun and its not the most original game ever, and it is annoying sometimes. But, its still decent and at least worth renting. When will the never ending quest of gaining street cred ever end? Not any time soon, apparently.

the retard gamer from corpus christi should of bought the game for ps2 or the computer if he wanted online play. Its not only for xbox. Challenging AI is needed to make the game worth playing. Yes, sometimes it gets frustrating when they pass you up on the last lap, but keep at it, and you'll eventually get the hang of it. The customization is endless. What also makes this game so unique is that it actually makes it look like you are going that fast. The surroundings begin to blur slightly as you increase speed, the game is a much more of a thrill to play than say Gran Turismo. Not to put down that game, Gran turismo 3 is one, if not the greatest racing sim today. You dont need to know anything about cars to play this game. You dont need to be a gearhead by having to tune your gear ratio or ride height. Even if you dont like racing, give this game a shot, it will be worth your time.

This is one of the best racing games of all time. It's way better than the other NFS games, Project Gothem Racing games, and Midnight Club games. I agree with Zaken that this game needs more cars but you can't drive in the day. That's why they call the game undergroung. I do respect you review though.

Alright people heres the thing, NFS: Underground is the best racing game in the history of racing games! If these other idiots were good enough they wouldn't have to worry about the AI, oh boo hoo the other cars catch up, if you know how to race then you don't have to worry about them passing you. The other guys complaining about the framing rate, it stupid as well the game is really almost perfect. All the engine and visual upgrades are almost endless, yeah when you get to a point you cant make anymore engine upgrades, but in life that is how it works too! My advice...BUY THIS GAME, you won't be dissapointed, if you're not a good racer don't worry about it, you'll get used to it, just get ready to get blown away! And to the other guys stop whining about no online play and the AI, get over it!

This has to be the end all, be all of the drifting games out there. I know what some may say about it, that the drifting game play is nothing like what a real car does. What I'm really trying to convey here is that its a video game, and the drifting simulation for the original nfs underground is sick fun. It always has me trying to push the car a little harder, and a little faster into the corners. If your looking to kill some time, and like the the nfs series, look no farther than the original nfs underground for drifting.

I also recommend rally sport 1, and 2. It's some intense driving fun as well.

First of all, here are the good points for this game:a very nice selection of cars, from a Ford Focus and Mitsubishi Eclipse to a Nissan Skyline GT-R. All are quite customizable, with special hoods, roof scoops, wheel rims, and side skirts. Special decals broadcasting who modified your car can be placed on the doors and windshield. Add your own decals like stripes, flames, etc. on your car as well. Some in my own opinion make the car look worse, not better, but like I said, that's a matter of opinion. Performance modifications like turbos and nitro can be added as well. I got my own car to around 206 mph from these upgrades. If you do well enough, some of the characters in the game will challenge you to a time trial. Win and you get a free body or engine upgrade; lose and you get nothing.

The tracks themselves are a bit interesting as well. There are circuit, point-to-point races, as well as drag and drift events. In the circuit and point-to-point races,you should notice shortcuts along the way. Take them for extra points. Some are simple,like cutting corners, others involve flying (literally) through parking garages under construction. Note: if you use an automatic transmission, practice with a manual before you try this game. The drag races are manual transmission only.

The bad parts are as follows: I know it is called Underground for a reason, but I would like to see some daytime racing instead of only night time. Also, quite often the gap between me and the guy in 2nd was between 0.03 to 0.94 seconds or so, hence the title for this review. That was with the easy level too. Hard can be won, it just takes a few more restarts. One other thing is that the opponents in this game are not afraid of contact with you or the wall, so long as they go faster.

So, this is not a bad game, just be ready to take a few hits and provide some yourself in the later parts of the game, but don't worry, there is no damage in this game.

This by far the best racing game yet. I can't wait to see how they are going to top this game with NFS Underground 2. The game play is very challenging. The farther along you are in the game the tougher it gets. Sometimes too tough but extremely awesome. The only flaw this game has in my mind is that once you beat the game, unless you buy all of the parts before you beat it you can't put them on any car unless you start all over again. I think that once you win you shoul have all of the parts that are on the parts shelves. Awesome game.

Well, this game is the best racing game I've ever played....I love how you can customize your car in just about every way. The graphics are awsome...the sound is awsome...it has a good soundtrack, but after a while the songs start to get boring, and it seems like they play the same songs over and over again. The only problem I have with this game is, when your racing, and there's other traffic around, you barely hit a car, and you go flying 100 feet in the air, and then you can hit a car going 200 mph and you hardly move at all, that is the only part in the game that is unrealistic, but everything else about the game is totally awsome...cant wait until Underground 2 comes out... I SOO recommend this game. So stop reading reviews and go buy it already!

Yes I would have to say this is a good game.I would even have to say it was one of my favs with wicked graphics and an amazing feeling of speed.But once you have all the cars, all the modifications, all the records and all the magazines the game is can get some what boring.The drag racing section is great but the multiplayer part is average.I finished the game in a week.
I think its the game that needs modifications.

NFS:Underground is the latest and greatest in the NFS series. The graphics are stunning,the control is tight, and it gives you various customization options. It is NOT frustrating at all, contrary to popular belief. So buy, love it. Also, check out Midnight Club 2, it is also awesome.

I have played alot of racing games, but know racing game has ever made me feel the speed like this one has. You actually feel like your in car. The sound quality is superb. I've never heard sounds like this in any game. I think this game has the best sound production ever. You have to play this game too understand how good the sound quality is.

I realize I only like racing games that allow you too customize your cars. You have never seen customization like this in any game. You can customize your car forever. Your car will look like nobody else's car.

The graphics are perfect. There is nothing wrong with the graphics at all in this game.

The music could have been much better. I don't understand why they didn't let us use the custom soundtrack for this game. I had too turn off Lil Jon because my head was hurting me.

OMG....The Drag racing mode is amazing. Once again the speed you get in this game is in no other racing game.

I only have two problems with this game. No custom soundtrack and no Xbox Live support. Hopefully they will fix that in Need for Speed Underground 2.

This game is the BIBLE to street racing fans.

This game had killer graphicsand cars. i have an rx7 the best handling car to me. After you finish the game youu unlock every thing in arcade mode. This game I recommend to every one.
