I had an xbox 360 and wireless internet but no adapter so i decided to get this one. I highly recomend getting this if you need a wireless connection. It works great and is awesome. It is a little more expensive then version 1 but its worth it.
If you don't have this get it right now... I'll wait ...then we can talk about it.
If you have an N series router and you enjoy Xbox Live, then this is a must have. I originally had the standard wireless adapter and once I upgraded to an N series router, the connection was intermittent, if not very poor.
However, once I purchased this dual adapter my problem was solved. Streaming is very fast and I no longer have connectivity issues with my N series Linksys router.
Highly recommended.
I ordered this product for less that what I could buy it at a retail store and received it with in 3 days of placing the order. Great product and fast delivery, What more can you ask for!
I bought this adapter to replace my wired connection. It works perfectly. I cannot tell the difference between both of them. I can play online with no added delay and stream hd movies from my pc seamlessly
I had the opportunity to try the original 802.11g wireless adapter and the difference is huge.
NOTE: Remember to use WPA2 security in order to get N speeds.
The XBOX360 Wireless Network Adaptor (with wireless N connectivity) functions largely as one would expect it to.
It's important to follow the instructions when installing though, and note that to install the driver the system needs to be rebooted with the install disk in the 360's disk drive. It's also worth mentioning that the Wireless Adapter must be plugged into one of the USB ports on the 360 itself, and will NOT work if it's plugged into a USB port on say, the HD-DVD drive, or any other external peripheral.
Obviously the speed is a significant improvement over the Wireless G version, and that's the must important feature o the product.
My only (minor) complaint is that it doesn't latch onto the back of the unit quite as well as I would like to, and certain cords, accessories and peripherals may interfere with the unit locking into place 100%. However, this isn't that large of an issue as most 360s don't exactly get moved very often with wireless adapter plugged in, so I can't see this causing any significant problems for most users.
Unlike some other users, I haven't had any problems creating a wireless connection with any of my routers. I have a number of Linksys single and dual band wireless N routers, as well as several older wireless-b/g and g models which I had no difficulty with either.
When I purchased the adapter it was $80 from Amazon, which offered considerable relief from the $100 MSRP - which is quite outrageous. It can now be purchased for what used to be the price of the old B/G adapter, which I would suppose technically makes it a "bargain."
Complaints about price aside however, it is *considerably* easier to use than the *even more* expensive Linksys WGA54G Wireless-G Gaming Adapter or Linksys by Cisco Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter, which are the only real alternatives.
If your Xbox is lagging, it's probably Not your router ... it very well could be your adapter. We bought the original $100 adapter from Microsoft when we first got the Xbox. It worked fine. But we wanted more wireless coverage so we bought a better router with more range. It included the N network. Problem is the Xbox adapter was set up to run on the G network (unknown to us). We tried lots of set-up changes, etc... but then (finally) realized the adapter and the router were not communicating as well as they once did. I hated to buy another adapter, but I did (this one) and it's been great! No more lagging or disconnecting from the Xbox server. This adapter also costs $100 if you buy it elsewhere, but we were fortunate to get it for $82 on Amazon.
Simple to hook up; just turn off your Xbox, replace the old wireless G adapter with this one, and turn it back on. All your wireless settings are restored and everything works like before, only faster.
Provides much better bandwidth if you have an 802.11n router/access point; I use an Apple Time Capsule. On my 25Mb/s internet connection I have seen a 3x improvement in Netflix load times and a complete elimination of stutters or quality reductions while I'm playing movies or shows. For local (in house) streaming of pictures, audio, and video between your PC and Xbox, this device will let you get a lot more bandwidth and will allow you to stream at high quality settings with no stutters or other problems.
Dual antennas provide much better signal strength as well; a friend of mine has his Xbox and access point separated by several walls and large metal appliances and has seen his signal go from one bar to full strength.
Overall, it's simple to set up and delivers on its promise.
My son loves the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter N. I paired this with the Netgear N150 wireless router and it works great! Easy hook-up to Xbox. The Xbox adapter found the wireless router quickly. Total installation time for both was about 20 min. I shopped for 3 weeks looking for a price of less than Amazon's $79.99. I could not find a store that was less than $89.
I am so glad to have purchase this, and the price was so much lower than any other store, online or otherwise. My wireless system can be a bit iffy, and this picks it up like a champ, at the other end of the house. This piece of hardware does everything it sets out to do.
Very easy to install and works awesome. The price was actually cheaper than the wireless G at the time which was also great.
Amazing! Something to do with computers that works as advertised and easy to install... Thought I'd never see it till now. A definite must have for your XBOX 360.
This adapter is great for someone who doesn't want to wrap a ethernet cable all around their house to get their 360 online. It works fantastically for me, someone that has wireless G, and it should be even faster when I upgrade to N. Setup was a breeze with me just hooking it up and connecting it to my network. For those deciding if they should get this one or the older wireless adapter, get this one. It works better. It picks up the signal better and seems to run faster online without lag when playing games like Battlefield Or Modern Warfare. This is definitely worth the money to get your 360 online without a wire.
After reviewing a ton of forums online about alternatives, I'm really glad that I purchased this item. Installation was a breeze and it instantly hooked up to my exisiting home network.
first time i bought anything online.i placed an order for a used adapter on the 15 and i received the adapter in 5 days FREE SHIPPING!!i live in hawaii so i thought it would take longer. everything looks brand new and it came with an installation cd. setup was a breeze i was on xboxlive in less than 5 minutes. playin games and no lag so far.
