Just when my subscription to Live! was about to run out, I caught this little bargain. Snap it up quick while it's still around. For slightly more than the years cost, you'll get the chatpad, (AWESOME) a new (And DIFFERENT) headset and a game. I didn't think I'd like or use the chatpad, but oh yes, I like it! It lights up so you can type in the dark with absolutely no problem, and you'll text as quick as you can talk with just a few minutes practice.

This is a GREAT package - a Chat-pad, PGR4 (terrific game, too bad it got lost in the shuffle), and a year's subscription to Xbox Live Gold, all for a price that's incredibly hard to beat. You get a headset, too, but how many of us have loads of those hanging around? However, this headset IS a bit nicer... The Chat-pad makes sending emails over Live SO much easier, which'll be triply important once Twitter and Facebook become available on Xbox Live in the fall. It has a nice size and feel to it with nice, satisfyingly clicky keys that aren't too small at all. The pad also lights up when you use it so messaging in the dark is easy. I loved the fact that PGR4 actually came in a green dvd case, not like the paper cd envelope that PGR3 came in if you bought the MS Xbox racing wheel. If you don't have a Chat-pad and you were gonna renew your 12 month Gold subscription anyway, this package is the best way to go. This would also be the perfect gift for those new Xbox owners out there. There's a lot of value for your buck in this box.

I have known about this deal for a while. I finally bought this and I'm glad i did. Let me tell you about each item.

*12 month gold card* 5/5- The best deal plus lats a long time.

*Keyboard*- 4/5 The keyboard can be hard to put on and take off though if you leave it on it doesn't affect game play. Plus it lights up!

*Headset*-4/5 Same function as the regular one just differnt location of volume

*Pgr4*-4/5 What I like about this game is I think its the perfect balance between a arcade racer and a Simulator.

I wanted to upgrade to a Live Gold account for the new Xbox Experience which would let me link my NetFlix account to my Live Account and stream NetFlix Instant Watch movies to my Xbox 360. This works well, though it's probably not particularly useful to people reading this review.

I also wouldn't mind playing some games with friends online, but it wasn't a huge priority.

That said, the messaging pad and headset would be useful if I got around to playing games on Live, so I went for this pack, which is a great value when compared to buying all of the components separately.

I have not played the game that came with it, as I'm not very hot on racing games, so I can't express my opinion on that.

Other than the hardware failure, Microsoft has done very well with the Xbox 360. Fortunately, Xbox Live and the accessories are also top-notch.

I purchased this because I needed a new 12 month subscription. What really caught my attention was the keypad because I wanted to use this with WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 and its story mode. The keypad works great and it's much better than trying to type stuff out with your controller.

The extra headset was also great as well. As luck would have had it, the current one I owned just stopped working after 1 year, so I was able to use the headset that was provided in this 12 Month Messenger Gold Pack!

As for the video game PGR4, I don't really like it. Then again, don't take my word for it because I'm not a big fan of racing games to begin with. I just considered that a bonus because of the price of the pack altogether.

If you need a new subscription and possibly a new headset, this pack is the right way to go!

This is an exceptional value.

I recently purchased an XBOX 360 Arcade, and I got into XBOX Live with the free month of Gold. I loved it so much I began looking around for some good deals on Live 12 month Gold cards on Amazon. I stumbled across this bundle, and decided that for only $8.99 more than buying a year of Live Gold directly through my 360 - I'd give this a shot because of all of the great extras.

Let me run down the items included and what I think of them:

12 Month Gold Subscription Card:

This is not a 12 Month + 1 free card like the other sold on Amazon - this is strictly 12 months, which is fine by me, I got my first month free of charge just for signing up.

XBOX 360 Live Chat Pad:

This device clips on seamlessly to your XBOX 360 controller, and sits in a position that is very convenient and accessible to use. It is back lit, and works very well for typing messages, or communicating with MSN Messenger contacts if you are using XBOX Live Gold on your 360. It even has a shortcut button to pull up your messenger contacts so you can start chatting right away. The buttons have a nice tactile 'click' to them, but they're not too firm. The device also has a headset connector port on the bottom for use with the included XBOX 360 communicator headset. (NOTE: this chat pad headset port will not work with the original launch model communicator headsets that had the mute and volume controls on the connector).

XBOX 360 Communicator Headset:

I have no issues at all with this headset. I also have a launch model one without the inline volume control and mute switch that this newer model has, and I have to say I much prefer this newer model. Not only does it have a better appearance without the bulky connector, I like the ability to clip the controls to your shirt, and I also hear a notably higher volume level that is available on this model compared to the the launch model headset I also have. It's much easier to hear my friends on Live with this headset.

Project Gotham Racing 4:

For a free pack in, this game is excellent. The graphics aren't the most outstanding on 360, but they are very well done. It's a fun game to play with friends, and even a good experience as a single player title. I found it to be yet another great reason to choose this bundle over buying just a 12 month gold subscription. This edition comes in a normal green 360 package, not the silver/gray platinum hits packaging.

NOTE:

This package also (at the time I purchased it) includes a Netflix trial subscription so you can stream movies to your 360 using your Gold account.

Closing comment:

For only $8.99 more than just buying a 12 Month Gold subscription, you're getting PRG4 (a $19 value), a Chat pad ($24 value), a Live Communicator headset ($19 value), and a free netflix trial. If you haven't got these items already and you need a year of live - this deal is hard to beat.

This is a great value especially in regards to the 12 month Gold subscription which sells at $40.00 alone. The gamer will get their money's worth in terms of the bonuses--the chatpad ($25); wired headset ($18) and Project Gotham Racing 4 ($13). One cannot argue that this pack saves money.
