this game is fun, most of u give this game bad reviews bcuz 2k dosent have a ncaa game anymore. so dont just give it bad ratings bcuz of thatand u dnt knw how to play it. this game is authentic and fun much more realistic than nba live
NCAA Basketball 10 has a brand new presentation system that blows most other sports games out of the water. The game is either on ESPN or CBS, each with their specific commentators and presentation styles. The game looks beautiful, the floors and players are nicely detailed.
As far as gameplay, the new motion offenses are a lot of fun to control, probably the best improvement of the game. Like all sports games, penalties and such are relatively random, which you would expect. Overall, it is very user-friendly and play calling is easy to pick up.
The best part of the game is of course dynasty mode, where you control a program for up to 30 years. I would play it just for March Madness at the end of the year, which manages to add an extra dimension of excitement on the road to the Final Four.
This was a Christmas gift for my 15 year old son. He's really enjoyed setting up his team and playing through the season. The graphics are amazing. From the amount of time he's invested in it I think it's safe to say he'd recommend it :)
This was a Christmas gift to my son. He and his friends played this during the Christmas break but not as much as the played Halo and Madden Football. I think he liked it well enough but the players that I thought would be represented in the games weren't in this version (maybe they'll make the cut next year).
For XBOX360. I loved this game as soon as I started playing it. I got through almost an entire season and all of a sudden, the game would freeze. It would freeze the entire XBOX and you have to power down and back on to even use your XBOX. I returned the game thinking it was just the game but the next one did it too. It does it almost every other game, in the middle of the game. So frustrating.
For the first 2 weeks of owning this game I loved it, THEN it started freezing up. It appears to a huge issue with the game that I was not aware of until it happened to me. Unless EA comes out with a patch to fix the issue the game is worthless.
This game has been such a huge step up from past NCAA Basketball titles, which frankly have been a major disappointment since making the jump from old-gen to new gen systems. Nevertheless, the presentation in this game in my mind makes it look like you are watching an actual broadcast. The ESPN is superb with plenty of commentary and overlays, while the CBS presentation is phenomenal and has alot of potential with the exciting Gus Johnson calling the action. The game is missing a few teams that the 2k series had (e.g. Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida), however, the dynasty mode is alot of fun and you'll find yourself addicted reaching the final four year after year.
Now, with all of this fun, there's just one teeny tiny problem: THE GAME CAN NOT STOP FREEZING! In my first year of dynasty, I only had about 5 games that froze, so I wasn't too concerned. However, in year two, the number increased. Another increase in year 3 as every other game froze (I had to play the national championship five friggin times!) I traded in the game for a BRAND NEW VERSION. Guess what? When I started year 4, EVERY GAME FROZE! Finally had enough and returned the copy.
EA has announced they wont be releasing an 11' version because of financial issues. That's understandable. What's not understandable is for such a decorated company to completely ditch their patrons and not release a patch. EA has completely separated themselves from this series and given customers the middle finger. They know that the game is broken, yet refuse to acknowledge it. Rot in "frozen" hell EA
The game-play is pretty good. Motion offense gives you more control when running your team while keeping the pace fast. Player movement is somewhat choppy, but decent for a basketball game. It would be nice if you had more control when defending players other than hands-up and take-charge. They should take out some AI and allow me to control.
There isn't much for new features, in fact, there really aren't many extra features. I also own NCAA Football 10, and there is plenty of fun stuff to do there.
Now, to the crippling problem of the game. When I first bought a copy, it froze every 3 - 4 games I played. Returned for another copy. Same thing. I just bought a new 360 last month, with the new chip set. This is absolutely unacceptable. If you are a patient person and don't mind continuously replaying games, then this one is for you. Otherwise, wait for a patch or just buy '09. How could this have possibly passed any reasonable QA testing?
I received this as a gift. Glad I didnt pay $60 for this. If you are mainly looking for achievements, renting this game or waiting a while for a large price drop is your best option. I easily have more than 600 gamerscore out of this game in a couple hours playing time. Xbox Live matches were essentially non-existent when I tried to join lobbies a few times last night. Perhaps this is due to it being released so soon after Modern Warfare 2 and Assassins Creed 2.
I was surprised to find a max of 2 gamers in all the lobbies combined. Usually when I checked there were no other gamers in any lobby. Unfortunate since a few hundred gamerpoints are dependent upon Xbox Live multiplayer versus matches. One fat cheevo being: play 75 xbox live games for 150 gamerscore. Then many of the single player achievements were ridiculously easy. Seriously--look at the credits for 10 GS!?!
As for gameplay it's not any better or worse than other editions or other publishers versions of basketbal (college or pro or arcade dlc) Not a bad thing. It still felt user friendly if you have played the other xbox 360 basketball games over the past few years. I can't speak to the quality of graphics as I played this on travel and was using a portable DVD player for a screen with a brand new 2week old Jasper chip Elite system.
No glitches or freezes were noticed during the few hours of gameplay.
Not a bad game, just not a huge amount of replay value and at least last nite xbl lobbies were ghost towns.
Again EA, Congratulations!
NCAA 10 Freezes as well. I own NCAA 09 as well and it froze the exact same way. Whatever the creators are doing with there creation of the game, it is down right horrendous. During the game while I'm playing it, it just freezes right in the middle. It's hard to believe that anyone who owns the game and says it does not freeze must have some lucky disc. Because every review I've read is the exact same as my problem.
Pros: Nice graphics, fun, enjoyable.
Cons: Takes long to load. Game doesn't let you create a player and play as them unlike NBA.
Worst of all..
IT FREEZES ALL THE TIME.
While I like the game play, both of my games (I exchanged one thinking it was defective) had too many episodes of freezing up. Apparently this is a known issue. I have subsequently returned the second game and would not recommend anyone purchase this game until the issues are resolved.
