This game is so far one of my favorite games, or any that I have played. The graphics are incredible, and the Japanese voices add to the experience for shippuden watchers. The fighting is awesome, especially the fact that linking combos is pretty easy, and so is avoiding some hits. The online feature is also good, since this is the first Naruto game to have it for 360, and can really challenge you. During the game there are plenty of side missions so even when you finish the story, there's still a lot more to do. Some say that the story wasn't very good because it didn't incorporate much of the series in it's missions, but it is still quite enjoyable, especially when you have to do jutsus to get through areas. Overall, this is a great game, and I highly recommend it for not only naruto fans, but other gamers who just want a good fighting/adventure game.
I bought the game without the original case and I thought that the game was going to be damaged, but I was wrong, the game was in perfect condition and came fast. Also the seller sent me the game in a case. Thanks
I bought both of Naruto:Broken Bond and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. Naruto Ninja Storm has alot of hype about it but, falls extremely short of the bar. Both games are fun and Ninja Storm definetly has unseen before manga quality graphics but it is essentially a generic fighting game with some action elements. Broken Bond is a very high quality action game with almost no noticeable loading times compared to Ninja Storm. It takes everything that was good in Naruto: Rise of the Ninja and improves upon it. There are many selectable Leaf ninjas in Ninja Storm however none of these can be used in the "adventure" sections of the game. While you are completely able to switch characters in Broken Bond.
Another great feature Broken Bond adds is the ability to easily switch difficulty modes. This allows younger players or more experienced players to enjoy the game the way they want.
Both games allow for english and original japanese voices. However, Ninja Storm maybe only has 15% of the actual game with voices whereas even the non-important townsfolk all have full voicing in Broken Bond.
Ninja Storm is basically a fighting game with mini games added in. You never even leave town during the action part of the game. One would think this would make Ninja Storm having an amazing town but it falls short of Broken Bond as well. (It is rather ... bland)
In short if you want the best Naruto action game to date get Broken Bond, and if you only have a Playstation 3 and no Xbox 360, Ninja Storm is a decent fighting game with good graphics and some mini-games. (beware the many loading times)
Much better than the first game,
they added so many excellent features and a lot more people to fight with on versus mode including ITACHI. Epic.
Given how totally awesome Rise of a Ninja was, I was eagerly anticipating this game. There are some changes in this here sequel tho'...and I gotta say, not all of them are good. However like it's predecessor, for Naruto fans it's still a big slice of ninja heaven.
Honestly this one is not as well thought out as the last one was. While Rise of Ninja was literally the "Best Way to Make a Game Out of the First 80 episodes of Naruto"... there are some things about Broken Bond that I could have lived without. This still falls into the category of a "Must Own for Any Self-Respecting Naruto Fan," but it's not as flawless as the pervious offering.
But there is some new stuff that's good. For instance you are given the opportunity of using more characters for the main quest instead of just Naruto. Which makes sense given the story, and makes things more interesting in both the quest and fighting gameplay. The fighting controls also seem to feel a bit less stiff. Also, they straight up give you the option of playing the game with the Japanese voice cast, which apparently for some people higher up on the Otaku Nerd food chain than myself is an absolute necessity. The basic mechanics of utilizing Jutsu to progress through the game, etc are still the same (which is good).
My main beef with this game is this:
In Rise of a Ninja each mission was different and was planned to help advance the story. With Broken Bond each mission is just a fetch quest with some fighting. And it's crazy repetitive. And after a while it gets kind of annoying. Like to the point where the word "insipid" isn't too far off. The context of earning the respect of the Hidden Leaf villagers helped to answer the question of "Why Am I Doing This Again?" in Rise of a Ninja. You're going to be asking yourself that question a lot more in Broken Bond...and most of the time your just not going to get an answer.
Additionally, they broke from using the actual series animation in some of the cut scenes. Some folks might like that better. I didn't. While the graphics engine makes for a great visual representation of the series animation - I wasn't feeling it cut scene wise. That's just me.
That aside, this is still a great game. All of the goodness from the 60 or so episodes from the second part of the series is in there. The epic battles are still awesome, graphics are still great, and when the game isn't making you backtrack for some inane fetch quest - it's fun-as-all-git-out.
While I recommended buying an Xbox 360 just to play Rise of the Ninja, or playing it even if you aren't a Naruto fan - I wouldn't make the same suggestions with this game. If you own an Xbox 360 and are a Naruto fan, then yes, you should totally own this.
All and all this is still a great Naruto game.
Rise of a Ninja was one of the better anime style games I've ever played. The Broken Bond takes everything good about Rise of a Ninja and adds a little bit more. Tag team battling, online matches, Sasuke is a playable character, the already good combat mechanics have been greatly improved and more. Hell, you can even train in the Dojo. If you liked Rise of a Ninja you'll love Broken Bonds. If you loved Rise of a Ninja this will blow you away. If you haven't played Rise of a Ninja, it's ok...just get Broken Bonds. You won't regret it a bit.
The game itself is great, my only gripe is after the game is completed, if you are a completionist you may want to pound your brain into pulp. Fishing minigame is ridiculously repetitive, same goes for a bunch of the other mini games that you have to complete in order to get the gold coins etc.
Other things like finding player cards to fight are much more enjoyable.
Overall the game was great and pretty true to the story with just a few tweaks.
My son loves this game and plays it daily. Says there are new options, levels and skills on this game.
First one of my friends bought naruto:rise of a ninja and he told me that it was very good even he wasn't so naruto fan, and when the game of naruto: the broken bond was available I bought it to see how was and the action was present every second in the fights, the game was at a good level, the character voices and movements where excellent, and I liked it a lot in general was excellent, so in conclution even you are not a great naruto fan its a very good option.
The Broken Bond (TBB) is the sequel to Ubisoft's 'Rise of a Ninja' (RoaN), a game that brought the Naruto series into the next-gen market. I have played RoaN, and found it extremely fun- With the exception of a few problems. One thing in RoaN that bothered me greatly was the way the missions were handled. In between story missions (missions that follow the Naruto saga), you were required to do filler missions (missions that basically killed the time). Unfortunately, these filler mission were almost always the same- A) Fetch something, B) Fight some thiefs, or C) Race someone. It got to the point were you were asking yourself: "Why am I racing this guy?" or "Why can't he get his own damn flower!?". TBB has around 8-9 hours of gameplay (10+ if you include bonus mission and such), TBB still includes fetch missions but some at least tie into the story (such as what Naruto does before chasing Sasuke, etc...). While the filler missions were average, the story missions more than make up for it. The game follows the Destruction of Konoha arc to the final fight at the Valley of the End. Now on to the fighting- Fun, fun, fun. It might seem slow paced at first, but after a few battles everything will flow smoothly and quickly. Using jutsu is a breeze, simply hold the Left Trigger and move the analog sticks in the correct directions. After the overdrive bar is filled, you can use different levels of a jutsu to make them more powerful. The graphics of course are amazing, a step-up from RoaN, if that is even possible, and you will find yourself simply running nowhere in Konoha to gaze at the village. Overall, I give The Broken Bond a 8.5/10- It is truly an excellent game, and should be what a real Naruto game is like.
Sidenote --- Some of you will find that even on the easiest setting (genin), the game can be hard to pick-up (this was a problem with RoaN too). Luckily, Ubisoft has added the 'Dojo', an area were one can practice combos and jutsu. A better way to get familiar is to try a VS match against the computer. You will find that they are brutally difficult if you have never played, but if you can win against them, then the story mode on genin and chunin will be a breeze.
-Gameplay
The gameplay is quite fun and is relatively deep for an anime based fighter. There is a blocking and shadow clone system which if you are going to beat the game on the hardest level, you will have to master. Jutsu's are pulled off by holding the left trigger and using the analog sticks which is then followed by a minigame. This is quite fun and captures the essence of the anime, but can be frustrating because some jutsu's minigames are infinitely easier than others(some are just button combos while others require you lock on to the opponents), and some are guaranteed to do some damage, while others rely completely on your performance in the minigame.
-Graphics
The graphics are great for the environments and the stages. Konoha is well designed and is a huge city with all sorts of opponents to fight, as well as places for supplies and food. If they would have added the option to beat up random people, they could have called it Grand Theft Auto: Konoha.
One negative for the graphics are the cutscenes before the match begins. Sometimes the mouth flaps wont match what the characters say, or sometimes they dont open at all. I've also noticed that Kisame's sword goes through his body after the fight.
-Story mode
The story starts with the Search For Tsunade arc and ends with the conclusion of the Sasuke Retrieval arc. In the game, you pretty much travel to different areas and complete minigames and puzzles to get to your objectives. One negative to this is you'll spend alot of time on some of these puzzles and most of these cost you health(if you mess up) and Chakra. Another thing is that you rarely encounter "real" characters and spend most of the game fighting generic ninjas.
-Characters
The game has a solid list of characters, but there are a few notable exclusions from every major team other than Team 7. Shino, Hinata and Kurenai are missing from Team 8. Ino and Asuma are missing from Team 10. Tenten and Might Guy are missing from Team Guy. Baki and Kankuro are missing from Team Baki. Another disappointing aspect is that you actually fight in the story mode aren't playable in versus mode. This includes the first and second Hokage, The CS2 states for the Sound Five, Might Guy(In training mode) and last but still least Aoi Rokusho.
With that said, the game still has a solid roster compared to its competitors on the PS3 and Wii.
-Overall
This is a solid fighting game that fans of Naruto will enjoy. Gamers that aren't fans of Naruto could still find fun in this if they want a fighting game that has elements of an RPG and puzzle games. If you have a 360, and want a Naruto game, get this game.
I bought this game for my 10 and 8 year old sons... this is their testimony. "This game is probably the best Naruto game out of all the Naruto's out there. Story mode is unique and totally cool!"
I wouldn't go as far as to say that this game has set a new standard- partly because the recent games they have been releasing on xbox seem to have no standards at all! Naruto: the broken bond, is an excellent fighting game that also incorporates many different concepts: team play, combos, fun japan acade games, special attacks, great stylized graphics, effective story line (could be better at a quicker pace), various training opportunities (incredibly useful for me), consistent challenges rival your skill level, and an impressive selection of unlockable characters for the tournament mode. All of this adds up to a game that never gets old, as long as you don't play on easy. Tip: don't play the game till your eyes bleed
I was hesitant on buying this because I wasn't interested in the Naruto series, but after playing this game, I am planing to see some of the newer episodes. Gotta thank xbox for not releasing anything original for years and forcing me to search for at least one worthy game to own.
There is absolutely no other fighting game that offers this much in one package. If you like great graphics, cool story, and aren't the type that just enjoys mindless play like Halo 3, you will love this game. Haven't yet tested out versus mode with a friend, but I'm sure once we try it out it'll be TIGHT! (we should start using that word more, dun't cha think?) And if you are the type that still says tight, good for you, man!!
I knew I had to get this sequel to the first Naruto game and have been amazed at how fun, entertaining, and stunning the game is. Like the first Naruto you start with minimal jutsus and have to progress through the game to build up your jutsu library and their power which I enjoy, also there is a a lot of free-roaming in this game almost three times the first. You not only get to explore the Leaf village but a few towns as well. The controls for the game are just as the first one was which I appreciate since you don't have to try and learn new ways to fight or use your jutsus. Also what I really like as well is that for the audio you can hear the English voice cast or the Japanese voice cast from the show, unlike the first one which you had to download the Japanese voice cast from online. The animation is also superb you'll not get the series animation cut scenes like the first one but the games cgi animation instead which is still incredible. I haven't finished the game yet so I can't really tell how much you'll get to play Sasuke like advertised, the only time so far I've played Sasuke is the level when Naruto is attacked by Itachi and Kisame in the hotel while Naruto and Pervy Sage are looking for Tsunade. The animation and cgi effects are again great and I like how with some missions you go in groups of three allowing you to take control of such characters like Neji, Choji, Kiba, and Shikamaru. The extras you can play in the game storymode are spectacular and I'm having great fun with those, also don't forget if you have Xbox Live you'll get a few nice Naruto trinkets for your console. So if you're like me and loved the first game I say get the second you will be greatly happy with this sequel. I know one other thing I truly hope Ubisoft is in the process of making the third one because I will definitely be getting that one as well....
I like to update a little of this review that I forgot to mention about. A friend of mine was wondering would you be able to play against
other players online, the answer is of course yes you have one on one or you can do tournaments online. I just tried playing a few people online
a few days ago and sad to say I reeeaaallly need to practice my fighting styles more since I seem to get beat about 75% of the time..
