The Grunt air guitaring on the front cover of the limited edition is reason enough to buy it. (to the left of the Arbiter from your point of view)

Great game. Flawless adaptation of RTS to consoles.

I think this is a good game. Lot's to do and fun to play but it is being judged against all the Halo games that came before it and it is not the same.

For once an RTS that was done on a console FOR a console. Too many RTS games try to be good on a console, but fall short because they are more designed for PC. Halo Wars is extremely fun, but the campaign is short. If you enjoy online play, this game is a blast! Another reason it's so great is because gameplay wise it follows Starcraft. Simple and to the point, doesn't take 5 hours to play one game (Age of Empires). Overall this game is awesome and I am extremely impressed.

Great controls, fun game, and an excellent story. The Limited Edition is nice to have if you are a Halo fan.

This is a great game. Not shoot em' up, like the other Halo's, though, so not for all Halo fans. Amazon was wonderful as always getting it to us super fast!

Its been a while since a RTS game was released for a console that was good. The gameplay is quite easy to learn and there are many ways to approach situations. The gameplay is solid and the story ties in with most of the Halo mythos. If you love Halo and RTS style games, you'll love this

Ensemble Studios have outdone themselves on this addition to the Halo universe. The game feels like a Bungie game, harkening back to Bungie's first RTS - Myth - in terms of sheer environment and ambiance. Birds fly around the map, sound changes intensity based on proximity and direction, and the environment can be used to your advantage (and detriment, depending). The units have character flavor banter that reminds me very much of the banter heard coming out of the Marines from Halo 1 to 3, and the little touches that Ensemble has thrown in (They didn't HAVE to make the Grunt's methane packs spiral off like fireworks when you kill them, but they did, and it's awesome) just keep adding to the enjoyment I get when playing the game. The difficulty levels scale up smoothly, each one progressively harder than the last. An all around great game!

OH man did I ever HATE this game. And there is no bigger fan of the HALO series including games, books, and comics. But this thing just stunk. I played it for 20 minutes and just couldn't stand it. Pulled it out of the XBOX and put it in the 'give away' pile. They got their money from me but darn sure won't get anymore. Going back to HALO 3 which i've played through I bet 30 times but HALO WARS is out of my house.

Halo Wars is the best RTS I have played on a console. The fact that the developers targeted the original control system with the X360 in mind gives it a huge advantage over every other RTS that was ported down from a PC. I love RTS games on the PC, and the idea of playing a decent RTS game on a console was promising, but Halo Wars went beyond my expectations, it is an incredible game.

I've played Sega's "Universe at War" and a demo of EA's RTS. I like Halo Wars better than either of them, although I enjoyed them all. My only beef is that I wish there was a difficulty level between "easy" and "normal". There is an option for "auto" difficulty but who knows what that would mean? I got a good deal on this game [...]. It arrived in a short amount of time and in good condition. I am sure this game was worth at least what I payed for it.

This is more or less a review of the Limited Edition of Halo Wars. To be short... It's not worth it. The only reason the majority of gamers got this version is because of the Mythic maps included for Halo 3. No its not the rubber "patch" or the pointless character cards... Just the Halo 3 maps. Which not only open up 3 new levels for Halo fans, but also make those long awaited out of reach achievements available (well most of them anyway). Its clear that this is the only reason a more expensive version exists... To boost Halo 3. Had they included the soundtrack too, well then it'd be a lot better deal. Get the normal edition unless you NEED the halo 3 maps right now.

This game is so good. I was playing the demo over and over until the game came out. LOL

I really enjoyed this game for what it is. First of all it was made around a great franchise, Halo. It is VERY true to the Halo roots and almost everything that can be the same is. That ranges from not only the look but also the sound and the movement. While this game is not quite as extensive as many RTS games, such as Age of Empires (which is made by the same people) it is a great console version. While it is the first console RTS game I have played, I was very happy with it. Many people who are just a fan of Halo will like this game. Some will not. Anyone who is a fan of both Halo and RTS will love this game. The Limited Edition was well worth it if you wanted the Mythic Map pack earlier, or haven't gotten either Halo Wars or bought it from the marketplace (4/9/09). It comes with some other nice items that are shown on Amazon.

Make sure you realize that this is not like Halo 1-3 which were First-Person Shooters. You are not Master Chief and you are not playing as if you were one character and seeing what they see. You command many people at one time and send them to fight other armies. This is a fantastic game and well worth the money for the Limited Edition.

This is a definately must buy for any fan of the Halo Universe. The add-on to the overall Halo World is told very well and the cut scene video is amazing.

Overall the game is fun to play but there are definitely things about it that have annoyed me. On one level I didn't even know there was a time limit per say and I failed the mission because of that. On another where I was supposed to protect an item; it blows up no matter what, it is a part of the story. As for the multiplayer, I tried two times and was not able to connect to anyone. Hopefully it is a minor server issue and I will have an easier time this coming weekend. I am very much looking forward to that and I am sure it is a blast. The AI is very mediocre and can easily be trumped in skirmish mode. I tested it several times to see if one action would trigger a more competitive reaction, but there didn't seem to be one. For a game that took so long to release, it could have been more polished. This review may be on the negative side, but it is the truth. Without that polish, you can know that this was not made by Bungie.

Fun? Definitely. Halo fan? Get it. RTS fan? Only if you want a watered down RTS experience that doesn't require any thinking.
