Personally, I am a Halo Addict, and this game sets my standard.
Although the "Spartan Laser" leaves something
to be desired, I still think its the best game on Earth.
The campaign has some good and bad levels, the flood is harder, but that
only makes it more fun, and for the covenant, it is not as good as the second. The multi-player is pretty good, but its X-Box live that sets this game apart, first, its grapics are beyond the scale, maybe better than "Gears of War", second, the weapons are like none-other, the new grenade is my faverite, and third, my friends and I thought that Halo 2 couldn't be beat, Halo 3 proves us wrong. So, all in all, this is the best game you will ever play.
Been addicted to this game for over a year and a half. Great game. Too bad Bungie screwed up the rating system.
I'm sorry I do enjoy shooters and I have bought all of the Halo games....but I need something more. New Shooters now are way beyond Halo 3. The graphics are better, the story is better, the AI is better, the games mechanics are better, and the online multi-player is BETTER!!! Come on...no new maps only refurbished old ones...it's like halo 2 but just better graphics. If I want to play Halo 2 I'd just play it. The only thing this has is the ability to take a guest online with you but those other...BETTER games are catching up to that one. I really expected more from the great Halo name. But when is comes down to it who really freaking cares.
If you want this game wait a year it'll reach Platinum status and you can buy it for $20...hype sells all.
I believe that this game is one of the best i have ever played. I never owned the previous halos but i would sure give this one 5 stars. The graphics are amazing and with the new levels that came out it will make you want to play over and over. The best part is the immense multiplayer mode with xbox live.
If you have a xbox360 and not this game you need to stop what your doing and order it right now. This game will consume your life and you will love every second of it. I'm not sure why people would give this a 1 star if they actually owned it. It's pretty easy to give a review on something even if you dont own it or the console it plays on.
loved halo 1 and would still play it if i still had my Xbox. i'm talking primarily about the single player campaign. something interesting i found in Halo 3 was bigger environments to explore. problem was, with a better AI in place, while i was off exploring, they were out there doing all the dirty work. by the time i had my fill in exploration, all the enemies were dead... ummmm. that is not fun at all, and this was on heroic setting.
so what i tried to do was take out all my allies so i could do all the battling. and guess what? when you try picking off your own men, the game practically cuts to a CGI sequence in which you are outnumbered by your own forces who decimate you, just short or dropping an atomic bomb on master cheif. i actually stopped playing the game at this point and will not give it any more chances. it's not gonna get better.
halo 2 was a good sequal because it took most things of Halo 1 to the next level: IE online gameplay.
halo 3 is loaded with unecessary pick-ups and accessories and it feels like a kid's playset (see Gears 2 for same problem). this is always the start of stupidity. it makes you feel like you are playing with dolls/toys as opposed to the sublime space mission the first game was. it feels so cheap. it feels like buying a he-man doll that comes with a sword and axe in the plastic package and you can switch them out. you could buy a he-man weapon playset that includes spiked club, mage staff, and as a goof an umbrella, etc. all of which will fit perfectly in He-man's empty molded fist. this is such a cheap mass-produced feeling and halo 3 is an example where a mold is cast in which developers will try and milk you for as much as possible.
there are no suprises in this game. it's lazy developers looking to make more money on what was once a good franchise. there are just not enough improvements in this game for me to recommend it to anyone. download halo 1 on your 360 if you've never played a halo game before. it's a better game and the graphics surprisingly have not improved through the years either.
I will never understand why there is so much hype for Halo.. the first one was a sub-average game, the second one was garbage, and surprise surprise the third one sucks as well... The game is boring and slow paced, the graphics are nothing to write home about, and there seems to be very little change in the gameplay from the first two in the series. If people are so desperate for a decent FPS, either get Bioshock, or wait for Unreal Tournament 3.. Buyers beware, this game is trash!
I must admit when I first heard about Halo: Combat Evolved back in 2001, I didn't know what they were talking about. Throughout two years I have heard just hype after hype after hype, forcing me to think "overrated". When I finally got my Xbox and Halo along with it, I strapped into FPS mode and began going through the story of Halo I saw what they meant. It was a beautiful game and wonderful storyline that bound together perfectly...though it didn't hook me. It took me a solid two-three months to beat it, not because I didn't like it, but because I didn't see what was absolutely great about it.
Years past and same things happen with Halo 2, I beat it in a two-three month span. But then, like the gamer I am, I couldn't wait to play Halo 3, for closure on what was going to happen. I got Halo last Friday and after a weekend away from the console, I beat it within a week of buying it. Halo 3 is a thrilling conclusion to an amazing series that continues to push the limits on what we call "Perfection". Halo 3 in my opinion, is the pinnacle of the series, a shining beacon atop the pyramid of the series. Wonderfully orchestrated score, loving every second of the piano bits and the overture.
I can say without a doubt that this game, is a must buy. This series is a must buy. I can say though that it will be years for another great FPS to come out for Halo will shine on for many years to come. From the very beginning to the very end it will keep you on the edge.
The ending, however, robbed me of emotion, for words cannot describe it. You must see it. There is no more a fitting end than the one Bungie gave it. Yes as I have stated before it robs of emotion, for you are speechless when you watch it. But any other ending, would have seemed cheesy, or just been terrible. It is the yin to BioShock's Good Ending Yang; what giveth you emotion, it must be taken away.
I have never been a Halo fanboy. I've never been a big fan of the series (More of an Final Fantasy guy), but this ending game was just what I needed. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't buy it.
I originally bought this game for my son. Him leaving the game on and going out with his friends was the biggest mistake of his young life. I started to play and now I'm hooked!
This game has it all. The graphics are crisp and clear. The overall experience for Halo 3 is intense. Must have for the XBOX/XBOX 360 fan, gamer. Stunning conclusion to the entire HALO TRILOGY. Can't wait for Halo Wars coming out soon.
Halo 3 is the best game out right now and nutting is more fun to play, too. All my friends have it and the game graphics are awsome, the co-op is fun exspecially if you play with friends. The xbox live is amazing and everyone i no thinks so to. Some people that rated this game a 3 and lower are crazy they don't no what there saying and they are probaly play station fans but play station sucks it is so over rated. If you have a 360 and halo 3 you are the real deal. Halo 3 rulessssssssssssssss.
One of the best games the xbox 360 has to offer. Its online multiplayer is the best available to date.
this was a great game my son has beat it and is still playing it
The most awesome game ever created for the Xbox 360 platform. The story mode is phenominal allowing up to 4 players to experience it together and the online gaming in xbox live takes this game to where no other can match it.
I haven't played the game, but my son really loved it. The game was new as stated.
