My son really has enjoyed this game. He likes to play online with his friends. The game arrived in very good condition and he has had no problems with the performance of the game. He's really happy I ordered it for him.
This is the horsepower for xbox 360!
Thsi is the one and only one...I suggest it to everybody who own console or not (you may buy it from AMAZON of course ;) )
I'm just the casual gamer, But yet I found myself craving to play this game a lot. it has that creepy eerieness that games like Resident Evil have, but it is a way faster moving game. The graphics are real sweet and smooth. It's challenging but yet retains it's fun factor with it's story and overall playability. That's another plus, the controls for this game aren't at all that complicated which adds to the fun factor. An awesome, fun, game with an engaging unearthly aspect to it. Definitely reccomeded for anyone, save small children.
i love this game i rented it a few times and i decided to buy it. I really love this game it was in great condition. i love it!
Gears of War was a very well executed game. Graphics are stunning, giving the game a realistic feel. The story line is kinda far fetched but it gave new twist to the FPS/TPS genre. The idea of being able to take cover is awesome and makes the shooter extra cool. Unlike a few other FPS games that i wont get into.
The controls are easy. The "pick-up-and-play" style make it easy for Super Gamers and the casual gamer to enjoy. Also, the fact that when you reload faster to you get a quick little damage buff. I dont know many other FPS/TPS that do that anymore. It's like a little mini game to play when your in the middle of battle.
Overall, Gears of War is an Outstanding game for anyone that enjoys the shooter genre. the storyline will blow your mind, along with everything else the game has to offer.
I easily Give this Game 555555 out of 55555
The other day, while I was sitting in a computer class, a friend of mine asked me if I was going to buy any of the new consoles. I said probably not, because I've drifted away from console gaming, and gotten into computer gaming. Then he mentioned Gears of War, a game I remembered seeing a video of from E3 or something like that. After watching a couple new videos, I realized that I hadn't been this hyped about a game since Halo 2.
All day today, I've been anticipating my friend buying this game...after a long day of school, and a band rehersal that was obligatory, I rushed over to his house and barged in the door. They said to me, "This is the best game I have ever played." I quickly saw why.
The visuals are amazing. The techniques are amazing. The weapons are amazing. The action is perfect. The controls felt natural after 5 minutes of playing. The A.I is amazing. The whole thing is the definition of a good game. But let's get on to the multiplayer. That's where the game gets good.
After logging on to XBox Live and playing for about 10 minutes while switching off with my friends (We didn't take the time to see if more than one person could play off of one xbox), it hit me that I had never gotten so excited after being killed. I wasn't angry at all. That's because even though you die, there's something enjoyable about getting your head smashed in, American History X style.
This game is the best shooter I think that I've ever played. It's the perfect blend of Halo, Counterstrike, and Splinter Cell. I only hope that it gets the recognition it deserves, so we can get a sequel.
deep inside we WERE all scared it wouldn't match Halo 2....

Wow, its a great game. Nice action, smart AI enemies and great game play. Many of the scenes are dark but the story line works. Game of the Year.
Only three words I have to say. Best game Ever!
Thats right, I said it. Gears of War is awesome. from the gory bloody chainsaw kills to the awesome head popping from the sniper rifle, the 2 player mode is awesome. I especially like linking two 360's together and assaulting the other team. What makes Gears of War even better, is the team effort that is used to ambush the other team.
My personal opinion, Gears of War is hella better than Halo 2. It is a highly addicting game. I don't want to put down the sticks (controller.) If you are into killing/action/gore games, this is what you have been waiting for. This tops everything.
Gears of War is not for children! Not for the Immature! The F word is used alot in Gears of War, among other words.
Gears of War is not just a game, it is an experience.
I am a student majoring in video game design and have taken so many classes about games and the game industry that its not even funny. Seeing as how i know way more about games then any one person should i will get down to business. This game is a very high quality game that has great graphics and a wonderful design to it. The levels truly convey the idea of a once beautiful world now destroyed by years of war. Yet the characters convey the gritty feel of true elite soldiers fighting in a last chance for survival style of warfare. The cover system is fun and easily mastered but it can be a little annoying in some areas where you have to constantly run around switching cover because your teamates seem to like wandering into your field of fire. But all that aside, the game is great. Uping the difficulty level gives it a new twist where you really have to fight for your life. Your squadmates actually fight right alongside you and tend to be pretty good when it comes to supporting your character. I personally loved the game and have found great replay value in it. Not to mention the fact that theres a gun with a chainsaw blade on it to cut enemys in half...the first time you pull that off is just...awesome. This game is not for kids though. With the copious amounts of blood and gore and the spattering of foul language its not a game for your little kid. But for any other gamer, you have to play it at least once. Its a game that deserves a spot on every gamers shelf and i beleive that you can enjoy this game no matter who you are.
i bought this game not long ago ,i realy love this game,i have not been on line yet but i plan on doing that ....ron
There are plenty of reviews here that cover the way this game makes everything else for sale look like a travesty and a sham and a mockery. Yes, a travishamockery. Go ahead and give your mouse a little tappity-tap and buy it NOW. If you have a significant other or parental unit that is advising against this purchase, buy GOW immediately anyway because with this game the only human contact you'll be needing for a very long time will be over Xbox LIVE playing until your thumbs are quivering masses of protoplasm.
Whew . . . Gears of War may be one of the most visceral, intense near-FPS on the market. I state that the game is "near-FPS" because, if you are not aware, the game is played from an over-the-shoulder third person view much like the POV from Resident Evil 4. And I must say that it fits this style of gameplay perfectly.
Throughout the game heart-skipping moments abound. The fighting is non-stop and insanely intense. The game designers at Epic were ingenious with their implementation of their duck-and-cover design. You CAN NOT survive a moment without it. And this focus on cover adds to the authenticity of the game's world, Sera.
Add on top of this the GORGEOUS graphics, brought to you by the Unreal Engine 3, and you are immediately one with the world and its culture. I have not even played it on an HDTV yet, and the images are still breathtaking. (My next major purchase will be a 1080p HDTV just to play this game on it)
On a low-note though I must admit that the dialogue, although well executed by the voice actors, is regrettably CHEEEEZZE. I almost have to remind myself that I'm not watching an Arnold or Sly over-the-top action film from the '80s filled with all their wonderful one-liners. However, this is hardly anything more than a slight "groaner" moment and should definitely not affect one's decision on whether or not to get this game.
If anyone reading this owns an Xbox 360 this is a MUST-have game for your catalogue.
And of course this is an M-rated game, therefore definately NOT for children.
I recieved Gears of War for Christmas and have to say that it's visuals are absolutely second to none and are the first thing your likely to notice about this title. We're talking visuals quite a few steps ahead of the pack, and the animations that they support are superb, everything from the characters to the explosions, to the game's oh so destructable world. I havent completely finished the game but felt compelled to throw in my two cents now to maybe influence holiday buying decisions for you late shoppers out there, people who maybe received say 60 dollers as a gift and is wondering how to spend it. Well, quite frankly, you couldnt spend it on a better game. Gears of War does for the 360 what The Legend of Zelda did for the N64, or what Halo did for the original Xbox. It will become one of those games that defines the system, or at least for a long, long while. Apart from the outstanding visuals (either in high-def or not) gamers will be pleased to find one heck of a sound design. The sounds of the Locust crying out as your chainsaw rips through them is one of the most satasfying things i've heard in recent gaming. The musical score is also to be highly noted, it is beautiful in a creepy kinda way and i hear it in my head between playing stints. The game controls really tight for the most part. Using a "one button does all" approach, the A button will become your best friend...yes even moreso than the right trigger. It allows you to take cover, barrle roll, all sorts of things, depending on the context. Basically it is your protection from becoming a thousand tiny pieces in a pool of blood. Which takes me to my next point. This earns its M rating with some pretty graphic violence. It's not quite as heavy as Dead Rising, but its certainly bloodier than any of the Halo games. The language on the other hand actually isnt as heavy as i thought it would be. No f bombs thus far, and no gd's. But like I said, the game earns its M rating nevertheless, thanks to its heavy gore. Production values are high in Gears and you certainly feel the effort that went into its creation. It earns the distinction in my book as quite possibly the most polished game I've ever played. I am yet to find a glitch, or even a cheap gimick. All in all, I'd say Gears of War is a fantastic game, slightly overrated, but a fantastic game. People looking to buy just one xbox 360 game need to look no further. I recieved Call of Duty 3 too and although thats a pretty good game, this is dominating my 360. Do yourself a favor, purchase and experience Gears of War. Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays!
