As a person who never plays video games, I really like the Gears of War series. I played the first one through three times with my husband, and we have played this one through once. My first complaint was that they took away the function of the Y button when there isn't some key item to look at. In the first game, pressing Y during multiplayer would aim your view at your fellow teammate, which was very useful considering I am horrible at games and get disoriented quickly. In Gears 2, they took that away, so I had to use the Right Button function instead. It was quick to learn, but frustrating that they took away the button I used the most (other than the trigger button). My biggest praise was the fact that now, in Gears 2, the A.I. team members (Cole and Baird) will actually RESCUE you when you're down (but not out)... VERY useful when Marcus and Dom have to split up. This way, when one dies (usually me), we don't have to start over from the last checkpoint. Also nice in busy shoot outs when you simply cannot get to your buddy. However, you do have to get to your buddy (or hope someone else does) before they bleed-out. In the last game, you could sit there indefinitely, bleeding, until all the bad guys were taken care of - not so in Gears 2. Overall, I liked this game, just as much as I liked the first. My husband and I really have a great time playing it together, I like the realism of the fighting (Jumping 8+ feet in the air like in the Halo series? get real!), the crouching, the sniper rifle, and playing it multiplayer is way funner than single player. Gears of War 2 is a great game, better than the first. It has awesome graphics and gameplay, a great storyline, along with some very unique levels. This game will keep you entertained for hours, and that's before you play on Xbox Live!

Campaign was full of action and was long enough to enjoy, definitely worth its money on its own. Multiplayer in addition was like icing on top of the cake. If you like action games with big guns and violence, gears of war 2 is for you

very nice, gears of war 2 is cool because I feel the game has even more action then the first one. now you get to here the more story of marcus and dom. You get more weapons, and the enemies can get really creepy. graphics are really great the movement is also a huge plus.If you like the original gears of war you will love this one.

Like most Jerry Bruckheimer movies, Gears of War 2 takes what was good from previous efforts and mixes them all together. It also builds upon an already firm foundation of great gun play, cut scenes, and graphics. The criticism I have for Gears 2 is that not much in the game is all that original. I don't want to spoil things for those who haven't played it yet, but suffice it to say most of what's in Gears 2 has been done before (ala Jerry Bruckheimer).

Don't get me wrong. Gears 2 is stunning from beginning to end. The graphics continue to be the best I've seen on a console, bar none. Sound design and camera work are great. The array of weapons is improved with the good stuff left alone. You get to ride more "vehicles" than in the previous game. The story is intriguing, and it fleshes out more details about each character (especially Dom). It's an all around treat.

Unfortunately, a lot of the levels have been done before in games like Halo 3, Resistance: Fall of Man, and other countless shooters. Is it that developers are running out of ideas or is it that there just aren't that many arenas to put a shooter in? I don't know, but if it weren't for the great story telling and game mechanics, Gears 2 could have been a big dud.

Luckily for us, Gears 2 is awesome. I finished the single player campaign in about 4 days and loved every minute of it. The story, characters, graphics, and gun play are top notch (albeit not totally original).

I just beat this game recently, and had a lot of fun doing it. I'm not sure why people say the story isn't that strong, I thought the gameplay throughout was pretty good. The graphics are jaw-dropping and all the different types of vehicles and perspectives towards the end of the game made it even more impressive to me. I played a little multi-player and its pretty good, but Call of Duty is still better in my honest opinion. I guess everybody just has a preference for different types.

I played Gears 1 for almost a year straight. COD4 the same thing. Gears 2... a couple months. Why? Multiplayer is just not that good.

The single player game is alright. Cinematic, great graphics and sound and a diverse set of levels and challenges. But it's more of the same. Gears 1 had a tighter story where we knew what we were doing and why. In 2, we wonder why we are the only team in the world and why we are making the moves we do. I guess it's par for the course for sequels.

Hoard mode is great but I could only play it for so long before the repetition set in. No lag, fun with friends, and lots of bad guys to kill.

Standard multiplayer is frankly lame. The ranking system makes no sense (check COD4,5 for a system that works). The learning curve, even for vets of Gears 1, is immense. Lag is ridiculous. The new game modes don't add as much as I hoped either.

I had high hopes for this game but the reason I enjoyed Gears 1 (multiplayer) is the reason I'm just not that interested in Gears 2. Too bad.

Still a fun game, but not as good as the original.

I got this game and havent put it down since. let me start by saying HORDE FTW!!! Horde is awesome!!!!!!!! i loved the new things they did with the weapons and the way you can stick frags on walls now. also the graphics are outstanding. The story is great so far but i spend most of my time on horde im addicted.

I ordered this game and i personaly think its one of the best games out there for thr 360. I play it with my friends online and its really fun.There pretty much no negatives about this game for me. You can play the storyline with a fried in co-op mode and one of my favorite things to do is play horde, witch is when you either play online or by yourself and waves of enemy locusts try to kill you. Horde is better when your playing with friends. If you have a 360 and u dnt have this game you have to get it and its a good deal of wat they sell it for on amazon. I got it for 40 and if i were to buy it at a store i would have paind 65.

I received this game on a friday. Played after work and through the weekend. Finished it on Sunday. Great fun. Me and my buddies get online almost every night for some multiplayer.
