I've played Fifa since the 2003 version. Fifa 10 has the very best graphics of any version and great play in an actual game, but the manager mode is so buggy I almost wanted to throw this game away.
If you never play manager mode, go buy it you will be happy. If you like manager mode, skip this version. I doubt EA will patch it, they have Fifa WorldCup to finish and then will work on Fifa 11 - just my guess.
The good: Improved game play and the great eye candy. Finally there is some change in weather. Playing is more fluid and the AI is better. In Manager Mode if you play and not simulate, the games loads much faster. The sim is slower.
The VERY bad: The Manager Mode is so buggy I almost wanted to throw this game away.
- The AI may STEAL players if you loan them to another club. It happened to me several times.
- The Assistant coach is defective not fielding the best squads avaiable. For Real Madrid, Diarra an 86 rated CDM stays on the bench or reserves and Kaka rated 90 CAM but only 80 on the CDM position, plays. There are numerous examples like that, but espcially the midfield is messed up. You have to spend a lot of time swapping in and out players fixing the "Assistant".
- If you play a league in the North, it rains almost all the time.
- Several seasons in the Manager mode, making tons of money, suddenly your club is millions in the hole and therefore you can't buy ANYMORE players.....EVER - GAME OVER.
- The board is arbitrary and makes poor decision that frustrate.
- When Transfers are open, a gameday is really slow because it graphically shows you a screen full of transfers. So your gameday sits at 50% for way too long before it is done.
- My 10 rated Negotiator can not renew a contract - the player always rejects. Money is no Object.
If this game was car, the dealer would have to take it back. It is sad that a company can sell a product as defective as this and not have to have a recall.
I have been a very big fan of the FIFA series for some times and read the rave reviews on many sites. However, I cannot share this opinion, and in fact, I find this game to be a significant disappointment. First of all, the camera angles to play the game are horrendous because they are much too far away. If you have a gaming console with significant graphics power, allow the user to see and appreciate the graphics. Instead, you are stuck in what seems like a 300-yard distance from the pitch at all times. Secondly, the gameplay itself is very disappointing. There is nothing special to it whatsoever. Dribbling is difficult. Passing is the only way to move the ball, and the AI's difficiencies are the same throughout the game (i.e. the way you beat the Kansas City Wizards is the same way you beat Barcelona). This generic, bland gameplay leads me to give FIFA 10 a 3-star rating.
Unless you want to take a course in frustration and anger management do not spend your money on this game.
It is an improvement over fifa 09 alright but i keep asking myself if the developers actually tested this game and how they felt if at all they did.
AI has a great deal of improvements but the overall game is very frustrating especially at higher difficulty levels, another advice if you do buy this game is do not use you expensive HD tv because you might end up smashing it if you are the emotional kind.
Now let me start with what i have experienced with this software.
1. The entire football world knows you cant make more than three substitutions in a match but in fifa 10 it just goes on and on sometimes up to six in a single match. one would think something as basic as this should be known by programmers.
2. The game seems to have two modes, fair and bias. in fair mode you can play a normal match but in the other mode when the software decides you should loose, i don't care what you do you will never win. you can create 100 goal scoring chances without a single goal scored, your shots will either come of the post or the goalie will be superman and will stop every shot pointblank or not, and by the way the opposing team will be scoring with great ease no matter what team it is, even if they are the lowest ranking team in the league and your team is number 1 on the table. they will have such accurate passes, be extremely hard if not impossible to disposses and of course the ref will be making laughable calls against your team, calling fouls against you upon every contact with your opponent no matter how little, especially if that contact creates a break for you, the programmers may as well give the ref a jersey for the other team.
Someone might want to label me as a sorry loser, but i guarantee you that i am not, i have spent a great deal of time with this game an have unlocked so many accomplishments but this is a candid description of my experience with the game. if all you do is play exibition matches then you will love fifa 10, but if you are a football lover like myself and understand how the flow and rules of the game should be then this will end up in anger and frustration for you both in manager and all other modes.
To the programmers i will say good job but you guys still have a long way to go with fair play, please work on the referee's ridiculous calls and it's not your job to decide who wins a game by rigging the programme, let our skills decide that.
I love FIFA 2010 for the wii! In the game you can win trophies(not REAL trophies),
train your own team(Bayern Munic,Chealse,Madrid, etc.) and build your way to fame!!!
I love this game, which only makes this review worse. I love the gameplay, improvements, feel, modes, and pretty much everything else. Tragically, manager mode is shot through with bugs that make it unplayable. When I transfer from one club to another, I get 2 billion dollars in debt. When I stay with the same team, I get through 3 or 4 seasons before the game constantly freezes after every match. There is no fix for this, nor has EA even attempted to address these problems. If anybody is still buying this game, I'd think twice if you want to play manager mode. Xbox live and Be a Pro work fine. I'm just beyond frustrated that I can't play manager like I really want to. Buyer beware.
Unless EA returns to making serious games for the wii, this will be the last FIFA game I buy for the wii. I was very pleased with FIFA 09 for the wii and it is the game I have played the most on my wii, but in FIFA 10 they have removed everything good from the series and made this a game I wouldn't have even enjoyed as a child. I don't understand why EA feels they can put out amazing FIFA games for the other platforms but then put out games for the wii that feel like after thoughts. I have always been a passionate follower of the FIFA series but unless they can make a serious, fun game out of FIFA 11 then I will switch my allegiance to PES.
The title is how many goals I scored in this game.
I have played every iteration of the FIFA series and so far 2009 has been the best. I will list in order the good, bad. and reccomendations.
Good
Gameplay very realistic and smooth
Graphics above par and Highly detailed
On Line play Good but not great
Bad
Beginner difficulty is way to easy
Internmediate rediculously too hard you won't score
Not fun at all
Interface confusing espeially trying to figure out players condition for substitutions
Can't turn of Radar
Loading a little long for it being installed on the hard drive
Reccomend: Pay 10 bucks less and get Pro Evolution Soccer for fun and you will be able to score on intermediate.
I am not a PES fanboy or FIFA fanboy but I like to have fun whe I play games and I don't want to pay $59.00 for frustration. If you like to feel like you could put the controller through the wall then FIFA 2010 is for you. If you want to have fun while still playing an exciting game of football pick up PES 2010.
I have played fifa 08-10, and I have been utterly disgusted with a few facets of the fifa 10 manager mode.
In all honesty I buy the game for the manager mode, and I have found a bug (listed on other sites) where players that you have transferred to your team disappear. Totally unacceptable!! I can not believe a manufacturer would create a game based on building your team through transfers leaving a programming error that bugs out and drops players off your team in place. But.. they did!!
Seriously, imagine taking a team to a promotion and purchasing your first franchise player in order to have that player (probably a low 80 player that you scrimped and saved for both in cap and transfer fee) disappear!? i HATE TO ADMIT IT HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES BEFORE i GAVE UP THE GAME. Even worse you struggle for a few seasons and finally sign Ronaldo, Gourcouf, Yaya Toure, Vela, or Donovan and the player disappears? Right.... How fun is that??
Including player's reticence to sign contracts, and a few other bugs listed all over the internet, the game mode is severely flawed. How did they take the old game and create these new problems?? Unless you are playing Real Madrid (how challenging is that anyways??) and new transfers do no matter to you this is a serious design gaff. I would think most of us that play manager mode want to try and tinker to create the next footballing dynasty (at least on our computer since our favorite teams are falling behind the money mafia scum like R. Madrid, Chelski, and ManUre).
It is not all just transfers BTW; the "form" function is also a bit off; not only does the game roster have a bunch of multi-colored arrows indicating form (BTW how do goalies getting clean sheets have bad form??) but the form waxing and waning makes no sense. For "lesser teams" why does the CPU switch the momentum/form on you so suddenly (no Cinderella stories here) during games that big teams place the ball in the net with freakish late game accuracy? You are wondering how much possession and shots the computer thought you needed to win the game! With the transfer fees boosted and the lack of sign-ability for lesser teams this facet (manager: my favorite - booh hooh) is a radical failure for players like me that buy the game for Manager Mode. I wish EA would acknowledge their errors and recall the game. A patch would help....
Lame.
I just got the game a few days ago but things I noticed so far. The game is really fluid and a little faster than 09. Quick free kicks when you get fouled mid field the player will simply pick up the ball place it down and GAME ON GARTH. Getting carded is no longer a cut shot but simply the ref runs up to the player and books him (the camera angle stays the same).
Dribbling is much better you can now absorb contact and push the ball.
Again game speed is much faster so you don't have to use turbo all the time and burn out your players come 2nd half. Shooting from distance now works in 09 and previous years the only to score was on a breakaway or 10 feet from the goalie (Gerrard Lampard we doing work this year)
Let me stop rambling. Fifa 10 is a great game alot of people would say PES. I was one of those guys but Fifa 09 really put the ball in their court and 10 just improves off last years game.
Madden junkies that want to play a sports game where it doesn't take an hour to play a game pick up Fifa you can probably get about 4-5 matches out in the same time it takes to play a madden game online.
