I just finished playing one AAA title that I was disappointed with (Fallout 3) so I came into playing this game with a jaded attitude. I wasn't quite sure what to think, but after several hours of not being able to put the controller down I can tell you that I'm hooked! This game feels like a combination of Zelda and the Sims with several other little mini genres thrown in for good measure. You can tell by the detail within the entire game that Lionhead studios really enjoyed making this game and the developers truly put themselves into. The environments can seem bright and then all of a sudden dark. Within just a few hours I can already tell that I'm going to want to go through the game being evil as well as good. Here is a small example. You start the game out a a little boy or girl and you are trying to make some gold. One of the quests tasks you with finding 5 warrant papers. Once you find these papers a man stops you and tells you that he will give you 1 gold for those papers. You can tell that he is a criminal. I ended up giving the papers to the security guard that requested them and when I got back to the city as an adult he was promoted to sheriff and that area is one of the most protected and crime free areas of the city. So if you choose the darker path then the area will be crime ridden and nasty. These choices hit you from the beginning of the game and throughout. My only complaint is the animation in some regards could be made better. Games such as Jak and Daxter and Prince of Persia have really spoiled me when it comes to animation in game characters. This is a great game and I would recommend it to anyone with a little interest in fantasy. Just a small note, if you are a hardcore jpger then you might not like this game. This is far more European/ American in regards to themes and the importance of the story and the way it is handled. Play Tales of Vesperia and this and you will see what I am talking about.
If you played one of the Fables on the original Xbox, you need this game. Fable 2 takes the original games up a notch.... several notches in fact. At the very least, this game is worth your money. Whether you are a casual or hardcore gamer, Fable 2 can provide dozens of hours of fun game play with its many side adventures and (currently) 2 DLC packs that expand the adventure. At the most, it is the greatest thing to ever come from Lionhead Studios (and from a gamer who absolutely loves all of their games that is saying something), and arguably the best game of 2008. If you played Fable, there is no excuse for you if you do not own this game. If you didn't, then I sincerely hope you experience this series. I both highly recommend Fable 2 to you, and suggest you spend the 5 or so dollars and buy Fable: The Lost Chapters for the original Xbox, which of coarse you can also play on 360! :)
Looked for weeks and no one had it, then someone told me to try Amozon. I did and there it was thanks for beinf there!
I normally dont have the time to finish games like this all the way through but found myself coming back and back to keep going and not only finish it but go back and play it afterwards. The downloadable content I have not downloaded yet but I hear is a great value.
I did not like the jobs that they have on the game to earn money. Like chopping wood or making swards. They are mini-games that you have to time your button presses and it very and I mean VERY tedious. If you can get past this you'll love this game.
I bought this for my teenage son and he seems happy with it (no complaints).
First off, the produict is of the highest quality and delivery time was great also. Everyone should buy this game. It's very interesting and fun to play.
I was pleasantly surprised by Fable II. It's a game you can easily get lost in. I've found myself playing for what I felt like 30 minutes only to find out I'd been playing for 4 hours. Before Fable II, Oblivion was the only game I had ever gotten so absorbed in.
This is an all around great game. Lots of fun, keeps you engaged and not too difficult.
Fable 2 is outstanding. i think this is better then the first one. i like that it is easier to figure out where you have to go. The weapons are really great to. And i think the game it self is gorier. The katana sword is a nice weapon and i love the axes. If you haven't played the first one don't worry because this game is a totally different story line. Buy this.
I have been one of the lucky ones who havent had any glitches in the game and I have beat it. So with that said I have to give this game 5 stars. There is SO SO much you can do in this game. After you beat it you still have atleast 20 -40 hours worth of stuff to do. I dont think this game will be game of the year (fallout 3 or Gears of War 2 will grab that) but it is a must bye if you like RPG's.
I'm not a huge gamer, but I do enjoy RPGs (I loved "Oblivion" and "Mass Effect"), so my husband picked this up, thinking it was something we'd both like playing.
I like the storyline. I like the gameplay (for the most part). I love the graphics. But there are just SO many problems!
* The inability to save multiple games or at multiple points in the game. If my husband and I want to play at different times, we have to play the same character, rather than each having our own. In addition, if you decide you want to do something differently, your last save, or autosave, may not take you far back enough in the game. At one point, I accidentally drank a sex-change potion that turned my character from a man into a rather hideous-looking woman. Unfortunately, the game had autosaved RIGHT after I drank the potion, so I was stuck.
* The main quest is, IMHO, too short. I was really taken aback when we reached the end of it -- "That's IT?!"
* Bugs, bugs, bugs. My husband and I have both encountered NUMEROUS glitches -- one ruined the main quest and forced us to replay the game from the beginning. Essential characters aren't where they're supposed to be, characters won't stop following you, kids go catatonic and won't move or talk, etc. I wonder if the developer even had this beta-tested.
* If your spouse leaves you, you never see your kid again. If he/she dies, child protective services takes your kid. Rather disappointing, as I'd gotten attached to my little guy!
* Inventory and maps are a pain in the butt to access, and the maps are nearly useless.
* The camera in the co-op mode is terribly cruddy. We thought it would be fun to be able to play the game at the same time, but it was such a pain that we quickly gave up on the idea.
But I've still had a lot of fun playing this game, and most of that I could deal with, except for the bugs. That's just inexcusable, and until Lionhead puts out a major update to take care of them, I can't recommend "Fable II."
i really wanted to play this game but it just freezes on me a lot so i just stopped playing it and gave it away so someone else who just bought a 360 maybe they will have more luck with it. im thinkin its just me thow i suspect there is a small percentage of people that do experience this problem. cant say if the game is great cause i haven't really gotten the chance to play it but just from the beginning quests it seems like an ok game. the menus seem slow and clunky at times...there are a couple glitches in the graphics now and then but its fable 2. if you played fable and lost chapters and loved it then buy this game.
The original Fable was amazing but there were limitations that we all struggled with: not being able to flesh out the property buying mini game, not having the ability to affect the game world instead of just what you look like, not being able to go places, etc. This game hits on all the things we wanted and more.
This is the best single player, pick up and play game on the Xbox 360. The main story is entertaining (if derivative), and the side quests keep you busy. Like most sandbox games, I find that the majority of the time in game is spent on non-quest related play: families, property, searching for gargoyles, etc.
There are some issues though: the camera is still a little wonky sometimes (like when aiming), and the multiplayer is not as much fun as it could be if we didn't share perspective, and it's too easy to make money (by midgame you have way more money than you will even spend.)
A great game, with lots of replay value, and easy to play = excellent! Highly recommended.
Though a tad on the short side the amount of replay value and depth to this game is just stunning, any fans of western rpgs owe it to themselves to buy this game!
The title is a slight exaggeration, but only just.
I really liked the storyline in this game (especially being able to choose "good" or "evil"). It took a loooong time to finish it, which was fantastic. I hate buying a game and being done with it in 2 days. It's also got amazing detail and action even if you deviate from the storyline and go off to do your own thing. You can spend days just exploring the boards.
Highly recommend.
