This is a fantastic action packed game that I highly recommend everyone renting. Just don't buy it for full retail price, it's just too short and has very little replay value.

+ Awesome visuals and art design

+ Responsive controls

+ Non repetitive enemy encounters

+ Good puzzles

+ DLC looks promising

+ Great bosses

- 6 hrs long

- God of War clone

- currently no replay value (Pending DLC?)

- Not all puzzles are good

- Pacing was strange, some levels felt like 5 minutes long

- Horde mode or whatever you call it is pretty lame

Don't buy it unless you enjoy selling games.

I've been playing the GOW collection and desired playing DI over GOW3. I'm not sure when I will try GOW3.

Like this awesome game.

Visuals are stunning, sound is incredible, movement and combat like none other. No, I will not compare this to God of War, because I have not played GOW, but what I am going to say is this: this game ROCKS!! Im no console jockey, I dont spend 10 hours a day playing my xbox, I dont troll around Xbox live looking for games and players to defeat. I am a casual console gamer who loves a good story. This game has it. I just received it last night and am blown away by the homage it pays to the poet of the Divina Comedia. A fantastic game, but also challenging. A great story with incomparable graphics that plays great. A find addition to my small library of Xbox 360 games. Glad to pick this up and I highly recommend it. Hell, you'll pick up some of Dante's poetry along the way. One caveat: this is not for kiddies, it has very mature themes and very bloody scenery. I mean, you literally GO TO HELL.

This game is awesome. I really don't understand why similar gameplay elements prompt a reviewer to knock a game down a couple notches. Dark Stalkers and Mortal Kombat played a hell of a lot like Street Fighter II.... did that keep them from being awesome games? Nope. Let's face it... God of War solidified a genre. So you press the same button to open a door... or use green fountains for health. Who cares? The characters, story and environments are all completely different. And the gameplay is an improved version of God of War's. Sounds like all the right components for a great game to me. It's a trip to hell... and it's Dante's vision of hell. As a big fan of the book I will also say that it's ridiculous that people are upset the game takes creative license with the original work. So what? The original poem unaltered wouldn't make a good game.... it's a poem. They had to stray a little from the source material to make this a great video game... and I for one think the developers vision of Dante's Inferno is an amazingly creative and interesting venture.

O.K., so this game is about as true to the original story as God of War is true to Greek Mythology. But that is what makes it such a triumph as a video game. The developers obviously took liberties and brought their own vision to the story. This is why American Mcgee's ALICE was good. That being said, the game is a lot of fun to play. As a huge God of War fan I can honestly say Dante now deserves a place right next to him among the hack n slash giants. War(from Darksiders) should be right there with them as well. Sure it borrows from other games but every game builds on what others have established. It is how games get better. If you love God of War-like games this will not disappoint. I read the book and loved it so I was really looking forward to this.

I didn't play this game but I did buy it for my boyfriend and was forced to watch him play the entire video game.

It's pretty twisted but I suppose that's the point. I wouldn't recommend buying it for kids because its VERY graphic. But my boyfriend loved it, which I was genuinely surprised by, because he spent every single second complaining about how much he hated it. The controls change often and the game takes some thought - something which he isn't into - he'd rather just kill everything. But in the end, he raved about it.

Watching it, I thought it had an okay story line. It was responsible about not being too religious, and it was entertaining to watch.

I got it on discount, so I think it was a great buy.

I'm only up to the 'Greed' Level but will say this game is addictive, enjoyable, and demonically fun and twisted. It is the total package of intertwined story telling, action, death, and adventure. Yes...much of the game play reminds me of God of War. But...that doesn't mean it is any less fun or challenging. The graphics and battles are incredible. I've been beaten down and killed quite a few times but love going back in to slice and dice my way through Hell. The Absolve or Punish options add more to the flavor of fun and destruction. The demonic babies and flatulent Glutony guys may be disturbing and gross, but hey, Hell is definitely no picnic with roses and you gotta slice through some horrible things to get to the end. I think it makes the true nature of the story even that much more intriguing and incredible. I can already say this game will be worth a replay when I'm done! Right now...this is the BEST X-Box game I own...hands down & bar none!

To those that say that this is a God of War clone, lemme say this: can you play God of War on the 360? No? So would you LOGICALLY expect me to pay approximately $60.00 on a game for a console I own, or spend $300.00 to play that ONE game?

Exactly.

The graphics and sound are slick, the environments are... imaginative, to say the least, the story is (as far as I know) more or less truthful to its namesake, and the controls are insanely intuitive. It's a hack-and-slash for crying out loud. They're a dime a dozen in the gaming market, and I, for one, think that this one was particularly well done.

Dante's Inferno: like the book, this game is a journey through hell. Unlike the book, the game is going to make teenagers reexamine their moral choices while having fun.

It's a good video game? Definitely. I've battled demons, defeated unbatized babies with knifes for hands, and beautify women trying to stab me with their large member between their legs. At some points, the mental challenges follow the same formula of pull a level, see what that does, and respawn to seek what the next level does. On the whole, the game mechanics are excellent.

It's a responsible video game? Absolutely. The story is neither pro- or anti-Christian. Dante discovers early on that his part in the Crusades earns him damnation rather than salvation. So far so good. Never are controverial sins featured, so Dante's hell is not going to turn off liberals or conservatives. The game has however made me consider my own transgretions. I further more would like to point out the level of Hell most parents would feel uncomfortable with, Lust, is so us-sexy that making teenagers play this game would likely increase the number taking abstinence pledges (when nipples have tongues and spit out dead babies, sex would be unappealing to you to).

EA deserves credit for making me pick up the book. The game is both fun and deep in a way that completements the book.

this game is probably one of the best of it's kind that ive played on x-box. i love this game...took me 10+ hours to get thru the story mode the first time...working on playthru number 2. definetly the best "god of war" type game that x-box has to offer

I bought this game for my husband's 17th wedding anniversary present. He loves it! The graphics are extremely real and he loves the challenge. It was well worth the money.

This game Rocks! It's been awhile since I've had a game suck me in like this one. Before I had a 360 I had a PS2 and God of War was the best game I had ever played, then I updated to next gen 360. I played some awesome games from Gears, Modern warfare,Army of two, Bioshock and more but man have I been waiting 4 a a game like this. In my opinion, this game is just as good as God of War.

I just finished fighting a 30 story Cleopatra whose nipples were mouths that spawn unbaptized babies who had blades for arms. Enough said, 5 stars.

This game is great. This game got an okay review because they said Hell looks dirty. The graphics are awesome. I guess the devil needs a better cleaning crew. It has a lot in common with God of War. But God of War was a good game, so is this.

The idea of playing a game that takes place in hell is what really drew me into buying this one. It did not dissappoint either. The graphics are amazing, the story line is very intriguing, and the game play is extremely fun. Yes, in many ways this game mirrors GOW which I have also played but in NO WAY is that a detraction. I personally liked this game better. It is very original. For those gamer point counters out there they aren't particularly hard to rack up in this one. I can't give Dante's Inferno any less than 5 stars So buy this game and go to hell.
