i love this game, online is amazing its really fun you get your money's worth. and you can play it over and over
Not much to say, it's a great game and I got it here on amazon.com for only about $40. Nuff said my friends.
If you have been looking at losing a social life, this game is for you.
The campaign is amazing. The gameplay is still as solid as ever. The pacing of the campaign is breakneck fast and a constant thrill. Seeing the US as a battleground is quite the experience and brilliantly executed.
Multiplayer builds on the foundation from the first MW. More perks, better balancing for those who aren't very good but still enjoy it. The only complaing i have is that it forces you to get out of party chat for Xbox 360. This left me constantly muting all the other non-friends or switching to Friends only chat in the Xbox settings menus. I am pretty irked at that, as I feel they are overstepping their bounds. After all, we all pay our monthly fee for access to Xbox Live and its features, who are they to assume they can take away certain features? Of course, there are some modes which allow party chat. This is by no means a dealbreaker, jus t an irritation. Great multiplayer, still as frenetic and fast paced as ever.
I can't add much that hasn't already been written but holy cow...
I've infrequently played video games over the past 15-20 years -- mostly of the sporting variety. Suffice it to say, I was blown away with how far video games have come in such a short time. This is a long ways from Pick Axe Pete. If you understand that reference, you understand how infrequently I play video games.
I bought this one because I'm a former soldier and still love all things military. I was also intrigued by the advertising, whether it was the TV spots over Christmas or the various trailers on the web. This game does not disappoint. Good choice of weapons without anything particularly ridiculous which overwhelmingly tips the hand in your favor -- I hate when they do that. It's very hard to stay alive if you aren't real careful -- as it should be. The graphics, sound, supporting voices and background music all make this the best game I have ever seen or played. It truly is amazing.
On a side note for parents, I allowed my 12 year old son to play this game with my immediate supervision. It's really a borderline decision for me despite the fact that my son is mature (relative to his age), thoughtful and very passive. I wouldn't recommend this for most kids under 16 due to the graphic nature and inherent aggressiveness of the storyline but ultimately it depends on your kid's disposition.
This is a review of the online gameplay.
NOOBTUBING
KNIFE SLASHING
SHOTGUNNING
no skill left in this game wot a load of rubbish that could have been the best cod ever. SHAME stick to cod 4 or 5
It's disappointing to me how games like this get such rave reviews - how the almighty dollar can propel a game far further than it should be.
Modern Warfare 2 is one of those games. It's nothing special, it's certainly nothing new, it redefines NOTHING in the first-person shooter genre, and yet it's raved as "the best game of 2009." Bull. Absolute bull.
Here's what you do in MW2. You run through crazy action scenes following a nearly nonsense plot, and participate in super-scripted events. You can't deviate from the plan - there's no creativity allowed whatsoever. You follow the instructions, point, and shoot.
What's even more frustrating is that some of the things we've come to expect from any shooter game is blatantly missing from this game - like any kind of cover system. What's even more frustrating is that you'll watch the AI - on both sides of the fence - make awesome moves like rolling from cover to cover, blind firing, hugging doorways and corners... but you can't do any of that. So in the end it's just more running and gunning.
And God the gunning - it's never been more frustrating. Now I'll admit that I'm not much of a FPS fan - it's not really my cup of tea. I enjoy RPG's that give you more of a system that allows you to improve your skills, and feel a natural progression through the game. But I've never died so much at regular difficulty in any game... ...ever. Of course, all you have to do is die enough times until you memorize what happens, because the game doesn't deviate from it's plan under any means whatsoever.
This game is simply boring. There's no challenge except finding the ambition to keep playing. And there are dozens of FPS games that are much better than this. I found Gears 2 much more fun to play, and I didn't like Gears 2 much, either!
I gave it two stars for some memorable moments, such as using the predator missiles. I also enjoyed using the Javelin rockets in one particular mission. Unfortunately those moments were few and far between, and only briefly gave you the feeling that you were actually doing anything to help move the battle in your direction. The rest of the time you just felt like you were following a pre-determined path, and hoping that you'd only have to RE-follow that path 2 or 3 more times...
I can also say that multiplayer is passable. It's still nothing new, except rewarding you for multiple deaths as encouragement to keep trying. There's also some neat rewards for success, though I rarely get those... In the end it's still more running and gunning, but at least it isn't scripted.
Kids, if you're going to spend your entire lives as couch potatoes playing video games, at least get a game that demands more of you - a game that requires you to manage a team, or an inventory, or a character. Games like Fallout, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Dragon Age - games that require more than just "follow the instructions until you're done."
I told myself, "Don't buy this game." I'm glad I listened, as I drop it into the return box at Hollywood Video...
This is my first Call of Duty purchase.
After several hours of gameplay I found myself absolutely amazed at the level of immersion I felt. The graphics are amazing. At times it felt like I was watching live TV. There is excellent character fluidity and the scenery is gorgeous.
Gameplay is fun and exciting
There are quite a few moments where it feels overwhelming. They did a great job capturing the excitement of the battlefield and delivering it to your living room.
Multi-player was quick and easy to get into. I found the learning curve for online gameplay to be a bit high due to the number of talented players, but overall it was fun.
I believe this is an excellent game and a must have for the library.
Cons:
Price, no need to gouge us for an extra $10. But, after all, it was my decision anyways.
This game rocks. Nothing else need be said (but I'm going to say more anyways). If you notice the reviews on this game are bi-modal meaning that people either really loved it or really hated it. That always happens with hyped games. If you stop and think about how this game compares to any other game on the 360 you will see that it is far superior. If you are comparing it to your "hyped" version of the game than maybe you will be disappointed. I have played now since the release and I can't find one thing to be upset about unless of course you don't like challenging games with awesome graphics and solid multiplayer experiences. Wag of the finger 1 starers; Tip-o-the-hat 5 starers. See you online!
I am a Call of Duty Xbox live junkie. I was totally hooked on COD4 on-line. I thought I would really enjoy World at War but could not stand the on-line play (too dark and more a pro-sniper game than anything). Then all the hype started up about Modern Warfare 2 and I was a bit apprehensive due to my disappointment in the World at War game. Then this game came out in November. I watched my mailbox with anticipation...then the game arrived. Giddy as a kid at Christmas time, I tore open the package, screamed with delight as I ran to insert the game and hook up to Xbox live. I am completely hooked! This was the best sequel to COD4. What I really enjoy most about the game is the weapons with their upgrades----so much to choose from with their variations! The boards are extensive, but not too long; so "run and gunners" can still do their thing. Sure you can be a sniper (there are not as many as was on COD4), but you miss the gaming fun. Ground fighting and fighting from the buildings are equally as fun and rewarding. I played COD4 the other night and found myself missing this stupid game so had to switch back over.
On the down side. Having played COD4 and my favorite boards on that game were Shipment, China Town, Vacant, Back Lot, Wet Works (the shorter boards), I have not found a board on this game that can rival the absolute insanity of Shipment. I miss the all out craziness of that board with grenades flying everywhere with 30 kills and 1000 deaths at the end!! Maybe they will have a map download in the future with some boards similar to that.
This game came immediately the next day and 10$ more, regardless it is excellent. 10/10
This is the absolute best fps to date and you must buy it for yourself.
The first modern warfare will stay number one in my game collection. But 2 is still a good game campaign and online still is fun for me love playing it still very enjoyable
Love this game. I have played all of the COD series since the beginning and hands down this is the best. The single player is great, especially on veteran. However, multiplayer is why you buy COD and here are my thoughts on that:
Pros
-Great framerate and graphics combined
-Great variety of weapons
-Addicting leveling and achievement
-Many game modes
-New maps will be coming out regularily
-All your friends are playing it
-Spec Ops is great with a buddy
Cons
-Still some cheating/glitching, the javelin glitch ruined the game for two weeks
-Pretty much no teamwork unless you play with friends or older players
-Takes away from your time with all the other great games that came out over the last few months
I would offer the following hints to the newer players or anyone who doesn't have the twitch reflexes of a 14 year old who plays for 8 hours a day.
-Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch have simple rules but can also be frustrating to the non-elites who wonder why they spawn and die within seconds. Try Domination or sabotoge where you don't always have to focus on "spray and pray."
-Don't copy someone's loadout just because they are getting the most kills. For example, my kill/death ratio is crappy, about .86. However, my win/loss ration on Domination is much higher than 50/50 because I play to my strengths and think about teamwork first. Because I am not able to beat most people gun to gun, I use the explosives perk and set mines around a captured flag and defend. 80% of players in this game will cap a flag and move on to the next one. That works for some but not a person like me who sometimes even misses his mouth when eating. I also equip the grenade launcher attachment which ensures I can defend and pop out and kill someone with one general vacinity shot instead of 10 shots to the body.
-Using the defend strategy you can get killstreaks easier and supply drops will occasionally have some great items like an AC-130. I was lucky to get a UAV in the original Modern Warfare.
In summary, great game-buy now.
This game was highly fun and addictive. I couldn't stop playing this game. Their's action from start to finish and the fun never end's in this game. I beat this game too and it was mind blowing. The multiplayer is really fun too. I've been a fan of call of duty since call of duty 2. When I played that I was asking for more. Then year's has pased and this came out. This game is really worth it. I recommened this game to anyone. This game is really Amazing.
