While pretty much everything has been said about this game...I will say that I do not like shooters, but after playing this game I am now a big fan. It is one of the better done games out there, especially for co op. It's also a great game played Solo, and anyone who enjoys RPGS or shooters should give it a try!

My husband and I have had so much fun playing this game together. It is really frustrating at first because your characters are low level and are killed easily and often. But as you level up and start finding cool loot and meeting new challenges, it gets better and better. A great game for co-op splitscreen, although I wish it offered same-screen co-op so we could invite friends to join our game online. It is EITHER online co-op OR splitscreen, not both at the same time.

Co-operative gameplay is awesome - really really fun!. Artwork is great, storyline is great, i've not got one single complaint about it except that it is too short! They are coming out with an expansion pack soon though, and I will definitely pick that up too.

this game is really good. the comic book graphics are awesome. there are tons of side missions in this game to make it last even longer. the guns are ridiculous. addicting for all the right reasons. the other thing i really liked is that all the achievements are attainable by players on any skill level.

So I got my copy of Borderlands last night and played up to level 11. Here are my impressions one day in.

-The game is beautiful. I personally love the cartoony style of the graphics. Extremely detailed and even the barren wasteland is nice to look at. The characters while not customizable are all highly detailed as well and look great. You can change the name and colors, that's about it.

-Controls are excellent. Feels like COD4 with a few changes. Any FPS player can pick it up and play very easily. The one vehicle I've seen so far controls exactly like a warthog from halo.

-Guns, guns, guns. Only a few hours in and I've seen so many kinds of guns I can't count them. One of the best parts of the game is that you'll never know what will drop out of the next enemy. Could be that acid rocket shotgun you've been waiting for! The pure crazines of the weapons is awesome.

-Story. What story? Your looking for a vault full of alien technology. That's it so far. If your looking for deep story, this is not the game for you. Try Fallout 3. On that note, this game is nothing like Fallout. Other than the fact that both games are set in a wasteland like place in the future there is no comparison. It's more like COD4/Halo meets Diablo/Baldurs Gate.

-Co-op. Tried the co-op last night and it was the best online experiance I've ever had. I sent my friend an invite and he joined my game with his levleed up character. No lobby, no re-loading, he just appeared in my game, we played for a few hours and when he left I was back to single player. All seamless. Amazing. Can't wait to try it with four players.

-In the couple of hours I played it I was glued to the XBOX360. If I didn't have to work today I would have played all night. Now that's a sign of a good game. Well spent 60.00. I'm sure I'll more than get my monies worth on this one for a long time to come. With four characters that you'll not likely max out on the first play through this game has some legs to stand on. Enjoy.

I wasn't for sure about the cartoony style graphics at first, but just like books and movies and everything else. You can't judge a game by it's cover.

I've only rented the game, but it was good enough to rent again instead of taking it back. I'm planning on taking it back on this due date and purchasing my own copy of the game.

It has just enough of both FPS/RPG characteristics to make it work. And it worked very well.

Great graphics and a great game for anyone wanting more FPS co-op! can get a little laggy when you get 4 players and a lot of AI goin. not real fond of playin the same game twice to level up in a "2nd playthrough. But the talent trees and different characters gives you that rpg feeling that games these days seem to be lacking. if you want a new look at FPS/RPG co-op, i recommend.

This is a multiplayer game through and through.

Would you go on quests alone on WOW? Not if you wanted to have fun...

Now saying that... I am playing this game alone. It's doable! IT'S EVEN LIKEABLE.

so don't run just yet lone gamer. What I will say is that alone this game will feel like it has a really monotonous pace.

But its gratifying at parts, and if you can play it without getting too upset you are rewarded.

Right about at the midpoint of the game there is a funsplosion. The enemies will become a bit more of a challenge and guns will start popping up that are not so run of the mill.

This is where the single player will have his day.

Multi though is the best way for this game to really be experienced. A loot game is fun when people are seeing your advances and advancing with you, when you can drop an Item that you picked up while playing alone that they needed or whatever. Plus characters each have special abilities that benefit multiple players much more than just you alone.

A bit of an explanation:

If you don't know, the game is an RPG shooter. There are 4 characters to choose from, each with different specials and favorite guns (although you can use any gun with any character, it does not box you in). Guns are the name of the game here, with millions of different possibilities to find as you complete quests. You will gain experience and with it the use of higher level guns and abilities. No armor changing or character customization which is a bummer, but you will forget about it. The goal is to quest, loot, find the rarest of the rare, and hopefully work with friends in a group. If that sounds catchy to you, then check it out.

Happy buying

This game is like a mix of Fallout 3, Call of Duty: MW2, and World of Warcraft. it is a very fun and frantic FPS RPG. The game is best played in coop mode with friends. if you like to shoot stuff, loot loot loot, and collect; then this game is for you. There are like over 100,000 guns i hear, and i believe it.already about 20 hours into the game, and i see no end in site because me and my friends are level 20 of 50, plus there is the new dlc that looks sweet!!

I don't usually care much for FPS type games. I have always preferred RPG's and Adventure type games, though there have been a few exceptions. However, this game has really grown on me, just as another game made by 2K, BioShock, did. I am currently finishing my 2nd playthrough of Borderlands, and looking forward to the DLC release which will be available tomorrow! (Nov 24th, 2009). I have been impatiently awaiting the release of Bioshock 2 (and they keep changing the release date!! Grrrrrrr!!!), but for now, Borderlands, I have to admit, has been a lot of fun! I have been playing the Sniper character, Mordecai, and really love the super-long head-shots! Booom!! What a blast!! Buy this game, you won't be disappointed!! :-)

PS- I am a forty-something year old grandmother who has always loved gaming all the way back to the first PC's and Atari. My 2 sons, who are late 20's, and 2 of my grandchildren all enjoy meeting online together to play this game (and others). We have had hours of fun with Borderlands!

i am a huge diablo fan, i have to make a freaking new computer to be able to deal with the next one, but that is not what i am talking about today. 2k has once again shown that they do want to keep the video game genre out of the recession. i mean this game is fun, the characters and the dialogue keep you laughing, the story is no ff7 but it is engaging, and then you add the guns... oh my the guns!!! i mean as far as fps go i love to snipe, but in this game when you have a shotgun that blows your opponents into itty bitty pieces you just do get bored of that. or how about a pistol that shocks your opponent to death. i find the key to the game is giving me the guns because i could not stop looking for the next one i would use. even splattering the skags in this game is a riot! it is worth the purchase, and i see they already have download component on the way. HATS OFF TO 2K... now if only they could get the football license back...

Wow, this game surprised me, its damn good! Don't listen to the negative reviews, they are wrong! Borderlands is all about pure cooperative chaos and it delivers in spades. I played a ways through the single player, just taking it easy and learning the ropes. It holds up well as a single player experience, but when you jump into the multiplayer mix, thats when Borderlands truly shines! The storyline is nothing to get excited about really, you are looking from some ancient vault with lots o items to plunder and you meet a host of goofy characters along the way but thats about it. However, Borderlands is not so much about the story as it is about questing with friends and collecting loot.

This is a first person shooter at its core with some light RPG elements. You attack enemies and complete quests to gain experience points to gradually rise in level. Borderlands sports a skill talent tree similiar to the one used in world of warcraft. At level five you get one of 4 different action skills depending on which character class you choose and each level after that gives you one talent point to customize your avatar's skills. As i said, there are 4 different characters to choose from, a brutish tank, a balanced soldier, a long range attacker, and a stealthy chick. Each one plays a little different, my personal favorite being the berzerker. Using his skill gives you increased damage resistance as well as augmented melee power so you can really get in the thick of it and pound some skags (they are these mutated coyotes looking things). Everytime you enter the berzerker mode your character starts grunting and screaming like a mental patient which cracks me up everytime i do it.

There are weapon drops galore and each one is random, so no one will have the exact same guns you do, unless of course you have one of the many unique items that drop from boss characters or you receive from quest givers. Im constantly surprised by the drops, at one point i picked up a regular looking shotgun and found out i could fire rockets from it, which was flippin sweet. Borderlands has some basic vehicle support allowing you and a friend to mount up and drive or shoot depending on which chair you jump in. Money and experience are shared among party members but ammo and weapon drops are fair game for whoever grabs them first which can really bring my piss to a boil when im out of ammo and everyone else snatches it up regardless of whether they need it or not, but when im feeling hostile towards another player i can challenge them to a duel and then enter berzerker mode to pound them into the ground while i grunt and spit my way to victory.

The graphics are unique to say the least, they make you feel like you have entered a comic book and im pleased that they changed the textures from the more realistic looking appearance they started with years ago, it just seems to fit well with the comical Borderlands vibe. Anyway, i've had a fantastic time with Borderlands, especially when playing online, its a must buy xbox title if you like cooperative online games.

When I bought this game, I also purchased Modern Warfare 2 and Left For Dead 2 all within weeks of each other. Let's put it this way: I haven't even opened the packaging on the latter two and my girlfriend hates me for it (maybe because I named my level 46 siren after her and spend more time in front of a television than in front of real people).

Borderlands is a non-stop loot-collecting, face-shooting, treasure-hunting experience that will appeal to everyone (FPS and RPG fans alike). And that's just the single player option. With 2-4 people (XBOX Live or offline) you can enjoy all of the above with a co-op experience. Enemies are harder in co-op play, loot is better, and the ability to yell at your friend from across the room (or on headset) for taking an amazingly rare face-shredding machine gun adds to the over-all appeal to the game.

The story does lack, however. Most of which is told through textual interfaces on the mission screen. The only person that really speaks to you (involving plot progression) is a disembodied female voice that pops up from time to time. Fallout this is not, but that is not a bad thing. The games stands alone among a sea of FPSs.

DLCs are on the way as well. Right now, "The Zombie Island of Dr. Zed" is available and receiving good reviews. Expect the same amount of inventory management and fast paced gun-play, but now with ZOMBIES.

Can't wait to see how this franchise continues.

So far I have beat at least half of this game and I have ZERO complaints about gameplay. The only real problem I saw was that in splitscreen the screen controls are hard if you are playing with a new person and they can easily get frustrated. I fully recommend this game to anyone who loves shooters and RPGs plus the weapons are insane. Some are sniper rifles with a revolvers clip and light enemies on fire. There is so much to do and the enemies come back after a while. Loved this game and if the make a Borderlands 2 I will be in line to get it.

So I pre ordered this game because it looked just plain awesome, forget the naysayers out there, the cartoon like look gives the game something that stands out, not to mention that it's one of the few RPS's out there, the only one besides Fallout3 that i play anyways. But i got this in the mail and put it in right away. For a breif second I thought that i was going to be able to make my own character as i read through the book but realised that it was just a modification change.....those sly bastards, getting my hopes up only to crush them, and then pick them right back up again with an amazing game. Anyway for the first 10 minutes i was looking for a spot to turn up the difficulty forgetting the RPG aspect where there isn't a difficulty, and was let down that the game was going to be too easy, well i was happily mistaken.....don't hear that too often now do ya....to find out that even a lowly skag that is 2 levels higher than you is retardedly hard, but in a good way, i fought to of these beasts to the bitter end almost dying and was happily satisfied with killing them only to be confronted with a badass skag minutes later that completley destroyed me, YEAH RESPAWN!!!! but after another hour of play and 1 or 2 levels i found myself destroying these creatures almost as if i was eating chips, i just couldnt stop it tasted so good....i guess that's a good analogy.......And then came the vehicles, at first the controls seemed a little odd because they were new but i eventually got the hang out it and took an entire raider outpost with my rocket launcher and machine gun, although i still press triangle to get in and out of the vehichle, thats the only control that seems bass ackwards, thank you halo, i have the PS3 version by the way, but im writing this review on the 360 as well, because this game deserves that much credit, The waypoint's for the quest is great too, it keeps the player focused on something so they don't just go around killing creatures, although, i suppose you could do that, but you wont keep gaining XP, its a good thing i guess, but the waypoint still leaves that free open world idea, I'm looking forward to the online play, wich i have a feeling is going to be awesome, and after i finish up with the first town, wich im asuming thats what the first area is from reading previews, im looking forward to the randomly generated open space between the towns, if they still have that feature, either way this game still gets 5 of 5
