Your shape is what Wii Fit should have been.

With Wii Fit, you are stuck on this small balance board with little movement, and it is just not as easy and fun as this is. Your shape takes what Wii Fit did well, and then adds to it.

With the camera (that comes with the game!) you'll get full movement, which any personal trainer will tell you is the key to a good workout.

If you are going to get one workout game for the Wii, definitely get Your Shape.

Yes. There are a LOT of things that could be better about this game. I don't think ubisoft put nearly enough time into figuring out how to get the camera to work the way it should. And yes this game is almost identical to my fitness coach. But I LOVED my fitness coach. Myself and a few of my coworkers went out and got this game and we are sticking to it religiously. It gives you a great workout. The music is much better than most fitness games out there. And really who cares if the camera doesn't recognize your moves perfectly? You still get a great workout. I have definitely seen results from working out with Jenny. As we speak, my thighs are so sore from the last few workouts that I can barely so OBVIOUSLY its not as horrible as all these picky people make it out to be! Also I have heard that this workout is much better than the wii active due to it being hands free and not requiring the nunchuk.

After reading the reviews on this game I was a little hesitant to buy it. There were a lot of negative reviews and since I wasn't familiar with the product itself I didn't know how realistic the reviews were. I decided to give it a try anyway and I'm glad I did! You have the option to choose what to focus on during the work out (i.e. arms, stomach, legs, etc.) and the lenght of it. I chose to work on my upper body for half an hour and let me tell you that I started feeling it right away!! I'm an average size girl (5'4" tall 135lbs) who works out occasionally but I felt it right away!

The scoring could be a little off but the manual and the intro explains what could cause it to be off. For example, having any other type of movement around besides yours. While I was working out my little one was trying to do the same so everytime the camera caught his movements I would get comments such as "work on your arms a little more". But it did the trick and I can't wait to continue using!!

I'm glad I decided it to purchase it because I now know that the negative comments posted are not ligit complaints. :-)

I love working out with this game because it makes the whole process so much more enjoyable. You can customize your workouts to target the areas you prefer to work out. I also like how many different exercises the game teaches you. Its not like some workouts where they have you doing the same excerise over and over.

Thank God this game came out when it did because after all the holiday dinners I needed a fun and motivating way to work out.

I've been waiting for this program for months. I've become a Wii exercise junkie. Just about everyday I work out with "My Fitness Coach", "Wii Fit Plus", and "More EA active" (I did workout with the originals but I recently upgraded). So when I found out that there was going to be a fitness program that utilized a camera to measure your proficiency, well I was thinking Flying cars just might not be that far behind. I knew it was going to be good - I mean after all, everyone learned a lesson from "Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009" . . . Right . . .

Well, I got the program on release date and worked with it for about 2 hours (Set up and working out). The set up is easy. I was afraid the camera was going to utilize the motion sensor plug spot on my Wii. But no, the camera connects to the USB slot, so there's no need to be switching cables every-time I work with Your Shape. The profile set up is easy enough and of course you have to take a fitness test that gets graded. For some reason the program said I was doing my jumping jacks incorrectly, so my final fitness test grade was a B.

After the test you go into creating your workout schedule. Be careful here because I thought I was just checking out what they call "Extra Challenges", but instead ended up starting (and doing) a 30 minute yoga workout.

Now the trouble really starts.

Apparently the Your Shape people thought the annoying feedback chatter in EA Active is charming because I was getting a continuous string of peppy encouragement. At one time, during the corpse poss in yoga, there was nonsensical chatter like "You can do it", or "feel them muscles stretch"or "do you feel the burn". I searched the menus for ways to turn off chatter but the best I could do is lower the voice. The yoga section was still pretty good, although in 30 minutes we only used about 8 moves. And BTW, they continued the same mistake in "My Fitness coach" where the trainer has you going through a seriers of yoga moves, about 4 times in a row, but unfortunately she only verbalizes the moves the first time. And then there were the workouts. If you have "My Fitness coach", then you already have this game. The only difference is "Your Shape" uses the camera. I spent a good deal of time requesting that my workouts center on my core and when my first "Your Shape" work out started it was just about the same workout I did this morning with My Fitness Coach (as a side not "My Fitness coach" used to be called "Your Self Fitness"). And BTW, there were no real core exercises in my so called focused workout.

Today, I worked out with the program for about 90 minutes. And as I suspected, they took away the workout options that you have with "My Fitness Coach". In "MFC" you can pick the workout but here it is scheduled. As I stated earlier you can change the focus of the workout-but selecting an AB focus didn't seem to have any effect. Another thing they took away was the ability to pick the type of music you want to hear. The music is okay for Your Shape but I thought MFC did a superior job with the music selection plus you can pick the style you like. Still, I had no real problem with the music with Your Shape.

As far as the camera. The so called center piece of this game, well I was disppointed. As I stated earlier the game did no recognize my arm movements in the Fitness test. It turns out that was a fairly common occurance with some of the other exercises. Additionally there is a slight time lag between when you do the movements and when they appear on screen. And please wear light colored clothing, otherwise you won't really register on the TV screen. I really did not expect stellar video quality on a 70 dollar game. But it is serviceable as far as the game but the movement recognition has me concerned.

If you have "My Fitness Coach" or "Your self Fitness", don't bother getting "Your Shape". If you don't have one of those programs, wait until "Your Shape" comes down in price. Your Shape by itself is okay but considering it is really a watered down version of its two prior versions, it is hard to recommend the game.

Two stars because it will work you out, and the camera is a neat idea, but the other versions out there are better.

I had to edit my first review - I wrote this very late and was too tired to check out the far too many mistakes.

I purchased this game two weeks ago and I have used it almost every day. Today, I spent 60 minutes doing cardio and burned 1160 calories. I go to the gym on a frequent basis and I have never had such a good workout as with this game.

Cons:

1) The camera is very picky. I have noticed that it works best when it is dark outside and I turn on the light. Otherwise, it does not detect my movements correctly and it can get a little bit annoying.

2) The selection of music is very limited.

Pros:

1) The workouts are GREAT.

2) The program will allow you to customize the workouts and intergrate your own equipment.

3) You cannot cheat as the camera tracks your movements.

I would recommend this game to anyone who wants to get in shape and has no time to go to the gym.Just try it out at different times of the day to determine when it works best for you.

Now, I used to classify myself as a fitness junkie. I would eat healthy, go to the gym on a regular basis, and even go running. However, with work, running errands and general "craziness" of life, I did lose sight of this goal a bit. However, I have to hand it to "Your Shape", a game that's really got me excited about becoming fit again!

Let's face it - becoming "too busy" to exercise happens to everyone. What I really like about "Your Shape" is that it customizes your workouts to fit them to your schedule. Some people complained that the encouragements from Jenny McCarthy were unneeded, but I actually found them kind of motivating. I don't have the extra money for a personal trainer right now, which is why I think this game really appeals to me.

I also really like the targeted exercises. Some days when I feel particularly "fat" around the middle, I can do some targeted core training that will help tone and shape my abs. If I'm looking for some relaxing Yoga on a Sunday morning, "Your Shape" can deliver this as well! Overall, I found it verstatile, customizable and pretty much exactly what I'd want out of a fitness game.

I actually read over a lot of the reviews, and saw that a lot of people were complaining that this game was "exactly like (insert fitness game here)". What I found is that Your Shape took all of the BEST features of other fitness games, tied them up in a user-friendly interface, and added a super-sensitive motion camera to boot! As a fitness game, I'd have to say that this is the most successful in appealing to time-constrained people (like me) who need extra motivation to get into shape. I highly recommend this game. :)

Easy to set up..I was playing within 10 minutes. Although I'm not a fan of watching myself workout on TV...it was still really cool because I could see if I was doing the exercise correctly. If it gets me off the couch...it's worth the money!

I got Your Shape as a Christmas gift and I was skeptical after reading so many negative reviews on here about it. I am glad I decided to form my own opinion. I have been using the game for 5 days (4 workouts) and I can already feel it working better than the other Wii fitness games in the first week of use.

Many of the exercises on Your Shape are also found on My Fitness Coach. With Your Shape, I could see on the screen that I was not doing all of them exactly right. As soon as I lined my body to how "Jenny" said to do it, I could feel the difference. Because the game knows how well you are doing the exercises, it automatically makes it harder for you when you do the exercises at a high enough level. For me, that is a great feature because I hate having to decide for myself how well I did or how hard I was working, as you do in My Fitness Coach. Your Shape just changes the level of difficulty based on what it sees.

The only issue I have found so far is it is very picky about your arms and sometimes your legs. If you do not move exactly in step with her, you are going to hear about it and lose percentage points for the workout. Other than that, I have experienced no problems with the software and absolutely love it!

Since I love My Fitness Coach I was really excited about Your Shape, and I pre-ordered it in August. Amazon's price lock feature saved me about $[...]!!!

About the game, I was worried after reading other reviews (I didn't open the game until recently) but I do not regret opening it, I love it.

During setup, I made sure I followed other reviewers recommendations such as using clothes with colors that contrast my environment (this is EXTREMELY important), and I also made sure that the camera sees my whole body, even when I lift my arms or I move around to perform the exercises. So, take your time and position the camera in different ways until you find what's most comfortable for you and allows you to take the most out of your space.

I love the game, the camera recognizes my movements just fine. It's true that it's very similar to My Fitness Coach, but if you like that game, that's exactly why you should get Your Shape; it has all MFC amazing features plus what the camera adds and some other improvements such as detail in areas to work out, what you want to accomplish (burn/strenght, etc.), actual calendar and not just days of the week, etc. I love being able to see myself on the screen, and correct my movements and position and receive feedback like if I had a real coach in front of me. MFC could not do that.

The game is amazing, and I can tell (and feel) that the workouts really work. Other games are easy to trick; this one forces me to do it well and to not stop. I have wii fit and EA Sports Active, too. Your Shape is my favorite. The other ones are fine, but after a while they're boring due to its limited routines, exercises, etc. Your Shape is never boring, the workout is always challenging and different; and once the setup is correct, it's impossible to trick.

Your Shape features Jenny McCarthy and is a work out game. It comes with a wii camera that scans your body as you do the exercises and Jenny tells you if you need to correct anything. It features almost 500 exercises including cardio, strength training, toning and more.

I few of the things I love about this game are the variety of exercises it offers, the guidance to ensure I'm exercising properly and the fact that you don't need to hold a controller while you try to exercise. I also like that it counts calories burned and keeps you honest about completing all the reps.

The only problem I had with the game was that the camera didn't pick up my movement occassionally, but this didn't happen enough to ruin the workout. Overall I really like this game and think it offers a great workout.

I received this game free of charge to try out and buzz about because I am a Bzz Agent.

Aside from the poor choice in music, I have nothing bad to say about this product. I'm on day 3, very sore but enjoy working out and it really does correct you if you're doing the exercises incorrectly. So far so good.

  • from Amazon

I purchased this product on a whim, I did not have any high expectations for it. Now that I have it I LOVE it. It is the perfect way to get in a quick (or long) workout at home.

When I first started it I was not sure it was going to be any good. In the beginning many of the workouts were the same. However, I quickly realized that the workouts start very easy and get progressively more difficult. One of the best things is you can incorporate your free weights, ball, and step board.

The music is not as entertaining as it is described on the game, but it works. Overall Great!

I absolutely love Your Shape! It is the only Wii fitness game that really gives me a GREAT CARDIO WORKOUT! I haven't experienced serious issues with the camera not reading me. Occasionally, Jenny will keep telling me my arms or legs are not in the right position but I've found actually that most of the time it is ME who is doing the exercise incorrectly. Sometimes it is very subtle so it's difficult to know! I think this is why so many people get frustrated with this game.

In any case, there are VERY FEW moments during the workout when I know the camera is not picking things up that I'm doing correctly. I've learned to deal with these minor annoyances because I get so much out of the workouts! It's really difficult to CHEAT with this game by trying to manipulate positions or stop moving just to try to get through a difficult routine. The camera seems to pick up EVERYTHING. I also like seeing myself on the screen because it's easier to correct something or improve it when you can actually SEE yourself doing the exercise.

I have Jillian Michael Fitness Ultimatum 2010 as well and I really like it for the strength training but when I really want to sweat and burn serious calories I go with Your Shape. I've actually become pretty addicted to doing Jenny's workout because I KNOW when I'm finished that there will be positive results.

My hope is that UBISOFT makes technical improvements to more accurately detect movement because the concepts of the game (the camera, seeing yourself on TV, the personalized workouts) are phenomenal!

I consider myself an athletic person. I hit the gym at least 3 times a week... but living in the midwest sometimes it's hard to brave the winter weather and get out of the house. Jenny provides a really good quality workout from the comfort of your own home. It's challenging and you definitely feel good afterwards. Sure, it might take you a little while to get the timing right for the moves, but practice makes perfect. I'd give this game an A++.
