my son opened up this gift that he asked for a christmas gift. Went to bed playing this game.. woke up playing it.. ! had to make him wash his face!! he seems addicted! ha ha.. He loves it. Actually all of his wii games but this is the ultimate topper ..
Well the WWE games have gotten just as bad as WWE itself. Like WWE this game is boring, the same as the last 5 years of offerings, nothing new worth buying the game for. This review is not specific to the WII it's SVR 2010 as I have played it on XBOX 360 as well. The gameplay is slow, boring and overly complicated compared to gems like DOR 2 and No Mercy/WCW Revenge. I hope TNA comes out with a good game to get THQ to actually make a different WWE game (with more good legends or wrestlers) to the standard they used to have. SVR 2007-SVR 2010 are the same exact game with lame additions, worse gameplay and worse rosters. This sucks. DOR 2 looks better, plays better, has better controls, moves look better, and is so much better than this mess.
.
My 6 year old granddaaughter is a big wrestling fan. She and her mom love to play it. Highly recommended.
I just get svr2010 I at first trouble to playing the game and get hang of it. I like it harder then much of Smackdown vs Raw AWESOME graphic a do recommend you a Classic Contorl for the Wii but get a GameCube Control Because you want things as high tech as you can.
I wwe smackdown vs raw 2010
4 of out 5 star
It awesome if are Gamer
Gonna be honest you can spend countless hours creating your own wrestler (which I have) and I'm still not happy with what he does. Creating a diving finisher is the most hilarious thing ever. I crated a shooting star frog splash. Created finisher is cool too I can already mimic AJ Styles "Styles Clash" and Pete William's Canadian Destroyer (which I believe is the craziest supper). Oh as I stated above no more waggle control :D. Supports the classic controller and GC controller. Although this game is very different from Day of Reckoning from the PC. Once you get over the learning curve you got a decent WWE wrestler finally. Load times were kinda slow during customizing your move list, but the game runs well. Graphics: surprising for a PS2 port lol. I say rent it first then buy. Will it kill THQ to make a game dedicated to the Wii and not port :( why doesn't the ps2 just go away already. haha j/k don't flame me
I thought there would be more button options but there isnt ! Its confusing on what the characters do sometimes I cant get them to do any thing. I wouldnt wayst your money on this one
I purchased this as a gift for my son at Christmas & he has been playing this game almost daily. The Graphics are Excellent, the players look real, their moves are awsome. From a distance you would think WWE is live on your tv. If you like the WWE then you will love playing this game. Give it a try & see for yourself.
Got the game as a Christmas present for my 10 year old cousin. Is loves it very much. Great Christmas.
After reading some other reviews, I see that I'm apparently in the minority when I say that I loved the control scheme of SVR 2009. I liked waving the Wii remote to do the moves. Unfortunately for me, that has been completely stripped out in favor of button mashing. I hated the control scheme of 2010 when I started playing, but I'm warming up to it a little. The problem I have with this game is that some matches are incredibly difficult to win. For instance, I played a cage match for almost a half-hour because I couldn't get the opponent to stay on the ground long enough to climb out. I must've done 6 or 7 finishers and I still couldn't get out fast enough.
Side note: You can use virtual console controllers or Gamecube controllers with this game if you prefer not to use the Wii remote (since there are no motion controls anyway).
What's new in the this year's Wii version are all sorts of match types that should've been in the 2009 edition. You can now play Inferno matches (which I still can't figure out how to win) and Elimination Chamber among others. The Road to Wrestlemania is the same as it was in 2009. You pick from six (I think?) wrestlers to through storylines up to Wrestlemania with. They even added a storyline in which you can use a created wrestler to go through it.
One final note: Don't buy this game for the PS2!!! There are a bunch of glitches, particularly when 6 wresters are on the screen at once or there's a lot going on. The game freezes often. A friend of mine bought it and can't get past the 3rd week of the Road to Wrestlemania with his created character because it keeps freezing. Don't buy it!
This game is well done, a definite improvement over SvR 2009. The graphics look good, they got rid of the dumb entrance system which wasted a lot of time (but had enough benefit to make you sit through it), and the "Create a Wrestler" and story creation modes are cool. The problem is, the game itself is BORING. The matches feel like they just drag on and on and on. Unlike a WWE match, it is very hard to "tell a story in the ring" with the game. On TV, the wrestlers might cheat a lot, or focus their attacks on a bodypart, or do innovative counters like shove their opponent head first into the ring post. It's really hard to do anything beyond basic bodypart focusing in this game. The "career mode" is basically a way of forcing you to play through a few dozen boring matches, and they are either way too easy (the computer just lets you beat on them) or too hard (the computer reverses everything you do).
Maybe online play is better, I don't know, I didn't try it. I played around with this game for a few hours, realized that it had all of the frustration points of a game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter (having to learn a lot of highly technical combinations, combos, timings, etc.) without the "instant gratification" of 90 second rounds. If you are a fan of the wrestling game genre, I suppose this game is for you, but for me, I found it boring despite its quality production.

The good news about this game is that it is very similar to the full fledged versions on the other consoles. Create-a-Story, Create-a-Finisher, and the full Road To Wrestle-mania storyline is there. The Create-a-Wrestler also seems to be as in depth as the other games.
Unfortunately, that still does not take away from the fact that this game has some significant game play issues.
Control:
No more Waggle. Sounds great right? It would have been if the controls were implemented appropriately and the action wasn't so ridiculously clustered. If you have a match that involves more than three players, this is going to be chaotic. There is no strategy involved besides just keep pressing right on the right control stick to quick grapple.
Essentially, to have all the varied options you would have without waggle controls, THQ forces you to use the classic controller or the gamecube controller. This is all fine with me, except the controls are just strange.
If you want to use the gamecube controller, strong grapple is done by pressing on the (c) stick and holding down Z. Not fun and a little awkward. Why not just a button press. (I know this is how it is on the other versions, but those controls just bug me too).
The use of the B button to pick up ladders and other items is also really inappropriate. Half the time it doesn't register, or picks up the wrong item.
I still have no idea why they don't go back to No Mercy gamecube controls. I hate the fact you have to grapple with the control stick.
Reversing is almost impossible, as well. They took out the idea of reversing grapples with one button, and reversing strikes with another. Perhaps to make up for that, Pinpoint accurate timing is needed.
This means, your best bet at winning is to stay on the offensive as the other players are going to have a really difficult time doing anything about it.
Mini-games:
This was a nice add-on. Whether you're eliminating someone in the Royal Rumble or just trying to kick out of a pin attempt, the mini-games add a little more to the experience. They involved hitting a green bar at the right time, or hitting buttons in sequential order. It adds a little more fun to the game and means you don't have to keep smashing the A button (though that is also an option if you don't want to play the minigames).
HUD:
There is a lack of HUD, which I thought I would like at first. However, after playing without the HUD, it's actually quite annoying. Your health meter is not apparent, and the game turns into a bit of a convuluted mess.
Good luck with a ladder match involving 6 wrestlers. It took 45 minutes to finish a match, and that is only after 20 minutes in, my roommate and I decided to hang outside the ring and let the computer try to win the match. It took four computer players 25 minutes to win the match.
Conclusion:
There is some fun to be had... but the controls and lack of strategy is just horrible. Dang it THQ -- just put in old No Mercy/Day of Reckoning controls. We've waited 15 years for you to get your heads out of your butt.
I bought this game expecting to play as my hero from one of the year's greatest movies. I was disappointed. Why did they leave out Randy The Ram? I mean, who else in the game has this kind of back story? During his match you could have had Marissa Tomei in a cut scene where she begs him not to wrestle. He's fighting a life-battle against death, people!
"When you live hard and you play hard and burn the candle at both ends... in this life, you can lose everything you love, everything that loves you. A lot of people told me that I'd never wrestle again, they said "he's washed up", "he's finished" , "he's a loser", "he's all through". You know what? The only ones gonna tell me when I'm through doing my thing, is you people here. You people here... you people here. You're my family."
He's just an old broken down piece of meat and you programmers left him out. John Cena's movie was not as touching. It seems like he's living on easy street with his pretty wife and a roof over his head. I wish you guys had the same heart this warrior had.
