CTA is currently creating the most amazing, creative Wii accessories on the market. The bowling ball is no exception. The Wii remote (with motion plus attached) fits snugly inside the very solid (and heavy) bowling ball, completely hidden from view. The ball has real finger holes (designed for right hands but left handers can adapt) and comes with 3 sets of inserts for smaller fingers. You wouldn't want to change them mid game as they fit snugly. If you had a bowling ball for every bowler, then each bowler could fit their own. The ball makes the bowling experience on the Wii simply amazing. True feel and realistic action make this a must have accessory! Due to the weight of the ball and the axis of the control inside, you get a bit more control when releasing and curving the ball then you do when playing with just the remote. All of the buttons are accessable from on top of the ball! Big Lots currently has tons of these in stock for just $19.99 each. I got 4 and i'm getting 4 dedicated controllers with motion plus just to keep in each ball, just for bowling on Wii Sports Resort, that's how amazing it is!
I am a lefty and it was pretty hard to bowl with it in my left hand. So I was wondering if you could make one that a left handed person could use. Besides that its very awesome and different from using the plain boring controller.

Have you not noticed the wrist strap?
How often have you thrown the controller?
Better not drive a car! (accident ready to happen)
If you want the feel of real bowling, this is for you.
But if you have gotten used to using just the controller, skip buying this.
It will seem uncomfortable to hold the button and use the ball.
Plus, where do you store 2 of these?
Wii can be fun and challanging. But do we need all the accessories?
Miniature golf clubs? Tennis racquet? My ceilings are too low for
all these things.
I wasn't sure about this product when I saw it online, but for $20, figured "what the heck". It turns out to be really cool, made well and adds a whole new level of excitement and realism to any wii bowling game. Way better than just holding the rectangular wii remote in your hand. I'm going to buy another one to keep my wii bowling parties moving along more quickly.
Just a note, I thought that this device incorporated a built-in remote, but the ball actually separates in the middle and you put the wii remote inside. It even fits with the MotionPlus, so those games are compatible too.
If you have a wii and like bowling, definitely get one of these...or two!
We got this in our local supermarket..... it looks like a real Bowling ball, with the glossy shine, (like it's on the video, not on the picture) In addition, the size is almost the same to a real bowling ball but it's not heavy at all. The only negative for me, my wife is a lefty and she can't play with it. (Maybe for someone selfish it will be a good thing)
The ball splits in half, I can put in the remote with or without the Motion plus, I close it up and I just put in my hands thru the wrist strap and I'm ready for fun. I can access all the buttons on the ball so this is excellent I don't have to remove the remote from the ball to go thru the menu, it's well designed!
It also comes with inserts, I never use those, neither my kids. I don't know why they come included.
I had been hoping that someone would come up with a wii bowling ball and CTA did. First of all CTA does a decent job with their wii accessories. This one doesn't disappoint. The advantage to most of the wii accessories is that they position the remote correctly for the game. The realistic feel of a bowling ball is nice. As a bowler, this was a very natural feel. (As long as you are not a lefty and I am not.) The "B" button is strategically located to be easy to press at the appropriate point in your swing. I do not use the grips as I don't find them necessary. Those with small fingers will probably find them beneficial. You definitely want to make sure you use the wrist strap, because it is very easy to actually "throw" this ball accidentally. Young kids will probably have difficulty with this accessory.
Totally love this accessory. Thanks CTA for another great wii accessory.
This is a lot of fun. Very real, good thing for the strap on the wrist. You want to throw the ball.
I bought this for my boyfriend for X-mas, He is a serious and very good real life bowler. He doesn't really like it saying its not as heavy as a real bowling ball and its hard to use with finger placement. I think he just hates that I can beat him at it. I gave it a try and did way better than I do with just the remote. Our roommate played about the same with it as without it. His kids said it was to hard to use, but that may be because they have little fingers and we never put the grips in it that come with it. I think its fun and adds entertainment to the game. We all laugh a ton when we use it.
I purchased this for my senior aged father who used to be an avid bowler on many leagues over the years. I bought it for the entertainment value as his favorite game that came with the Wii system is the bowling game. I also purchased a more real life bowling game to go with it.
Pros: It's better than using the Wii remote as it simulates actual bowling.
Cons: It's a pain to take off the plastic sleeve on the Wii remote.
The ball is a lot lighter than an actual bowling ball, but this may not necessarily be a con.
Overall: It is worth the entertainment value for an avid bowler considering the price.
I really enjoyed this product as did my son (11) and daughter (18), but smaller hands have a tough time with the finger holes.
When I saw this, I couldn't believe it! What an idea! You really hold it and (almost) throw it just like a real ball. It REALLY helped my game! But... It's not so good for left-handers, like my wife.
I bought this ball thinking that it would be fun....and it is! It's amazing how they got all the buttons to work from the ball once hooked up to the WiiMote. I like that it accommodates the new Motion Plus. I will agree that the B button is a bit misplaced and makes it a bit uncomfortable. However, it's not really a BOWLING ball....it's a great simulation! And I think for $20, it's worth it. Great conversation piece!
If you watch the 2.5 minute video, it looks like it would work. There's a wrist strap, and the remote fits inside. My big question was the finger hole size, and they have little adapters for those of us with fatter fingers and tiny fingers. Definitely looks like something I'd like to receive as a gift, but not worth $25 to spend on myself. Probably not one for young kids, as they would most likely let go, but for people that could control their video gaming, it looks like a lot of fun.
I bought this to improve my game - I'm not very good & wanted it to help correct a terrible hook when I throw. It definitely feels more realistic than just using your remote. The remote fits inside although it says that it is compatable with the motionplus controller. But I haven't figured out how to get it to fit inside the ball yet? The controls to work all the functions are on the outside of the ball which is great but my hand gets tired after playing a few games because of the position of the B button and the finger holes seems a little awkward for my hand? Also the finger holes have different sized rubber inserts which can get sweaty & start to slip out when you play. So make sure you WEAR & SECURE the wrist strap. All in all I gave it 4 stars because #1) I love the more realistic feel of it #2) It has improved my game and #3) I don't have the terrible hook anymore.
