this game is a true classic great music great game play great story this game has it all buy this game you wont be sorry
I believe the title sums it up, so I'll keep this short
Twilight Princess easily earns its placed as one of, if not the, greatest Zelda games. It keeps its Zelda-esque feel while still adding new elements, new views on weapons, expanding the list of sword moves, and even more frustrating puzzles. A true balence of all things the series has stood for.
My only complaint is that the Wii controls lag a little bit, as do most of the Wii launch titles, but I never found this to be a real problem
..........I own both the GameCube and the Nintendo Wii version's so here's a review from someone who has experienced both. I 1st brought the GameCube version because I have a GC & then I went 2 Target the next day & they had the Wii system so I brought it & brought the system and the Zelda Wii as well. I really didn't notice the difference with the graphics for either version. They both look pretty identical visually which is kind of sad considering Wii is suppose 2 be a new generation console. But then again most ports rarely add anything extra, since this is a GC original title. Anyways I'm gonna get right to the point I actually enjoyed the GC version better because I couldn't catch any FISH with that freaking Wii Nunchuk controller. So I popped in the GC version and I actually passed a few stages including the fishing stage. I knew the regular controller would be so much easier to catch fish then with the new nunchuk controller. While on the Wii version I'm still freaking stuck on the 1st stage trying 2 catch 2 fish. TRAGIC!!!!!! To sum things up the game is addictive but I prefer the GC version.
The Legend of Zelda series includes some of the greatest games ever-including, in my opinion, THE greatest game ever, A Link to the Past. What makes these games so great? Many things that they all have in common, including, but not exclusive to...
1. They balance the challenge of puzzles with the button mashing of combat. Each dungeon has plenty of enemies to kill and plenty of puzzles to work your brain. I hold firm to the belief that playing Zelda over the years has improved my reasoning and logic.
2. They don't show more violence than they need to. Think of how many enemies you kill in a Zelda game. The fatalities reach quadruple digits. But each enemy you kill vanishes in a puff of smoke and leaves behind only useful items. It is also impossible to hurt the innocent.
3. They (mostly) turn off the clock. Each of these games has so many things to do besides the obvious mission of getting the Master Sword and the story that follows (more on this later). Players can play games, go fishing, or just run around killing stuff for rupees, which has gotten MUCH more fun since the SNES version. There is no time limit in these games, with the unfortunate exception of Majora's Mask. Removing the clock from the situation relieves a lot of pressure. Wanna go fishing after a long day at the office? Turn on Zelda and visit Hena, or fish in one of dozens of lovely spots, without affecting your mission in any way.
4. The music is and always has been spectacular. The music of the original games appears in the latest version, more than 20 years later. That's HUGE. The music isn't recycled from game to game, though, it's tweaked and improved every time, and new pieces are added as well.
5. Players never feel alone. The problem with many adventure games is that they involve a solitary adventurer on a mission. Period. This can get boring and even lonely at times. I noticed this in Metroid, and stopped playing. In Zelda, there's always communication with somebody who is on your side, even in a dungeon. And outside the dungeons, there are plenty of people to talk to. Adding a tangible person in Midna makes Twilight Princess that much more enjoyable.
6. The bosses. The bosses are always awesome. They are visually impressive and a little intimidating, especially when towering over a boy, but they are nevertheless managable. Also, defeating a dungeon boss never involves mere hacking and slashing with the sword, it is a bit of a small puzzle in itself, almost always involving the nifty new gadget that you found in the dungeon. Bosses in Twilight Princess are no exception. They are not very difficult to defeat, but almost always satisfying and certainly a lot of fun. Also, the look of Zant is absolutely awesome. The profane mask with protruding tongue and bulging eyes is absolutely inspired, as is the madman beneath it.
Lucky 7. The familiar, Law-and-Order style plot formula. Yes the style is repeated from games past, but the repetition is comfortable, and never dull. I was blown away the first time I played A Link to the Past and finally got my hands on the Master Sword, only to realize that the journey had just begun. That's incredible storytelling! The same formula is used in Twilight Princess, and while I now know that the Master Sword is only an early step in completing the game, the story still manages to amaze me. I won't give any details, but the story follows the classic lines and conflicts of Zelda games past, but never feels like a repeat.
I hope this has reminded people why they love Zelda and will hopefully continue to appreciate the superb craftsmanship of the games in the future. Cheers, and happy fishing.
It is a classic.
Great game play and has great replay value.
One of the best games on Wii
THE GRAPHICS ARE GREAT, WOW BEST GAME I PLAYED, I WAS DOUBTFUL AT THE BEGINNING BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM ZELDA SOMEONE JUST RECOMENDED IT TO ME, SO I BOUGHT IT. THE BEGINNING FOR ME WAS SOMEWHAT TEDIOUS BUT IT GOT WAY BETTER A LITTLE SCARY, IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY, I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT
This was the first game I bought with my new Wii and I recommend everyone get this game. The gameplay is awesome. Never before have I played any videogame that is this interactive. You will be blown away by the controls and functions of the Wii remote.
The storyline itself is great as well. This in my opinion is one of the best Zelda storylines. If you plan on getting a Wii or already have one get this game with it. You will not be let down.
zelda is awesome. my dad and i play the game together all the time and we never get bored. he is 45 and i am 7 and we have a blast playing it. it is very challenging and takes time to get thru but it is worth it. you get to see yourself as a boy and then a warrior and a wolf and somethings we haven't gotten to yet. everybody will like it, i think, because it has alot of action but it is scary some of the time with monsters--especially in twilight. we have a wii and many other games (olympics, carnival, sims, spiderman, star wars, spongebob) and we all like zelda the best, and wii sports. all my friends love this game when they see and play it--like sylas, david, and ian. my friend hunter gets whiny when we play. i am 7 and if you buy only one game this is the one to get. we got a book about zelda for xmas and it really helps when you get stuck so i think you should get that too.
This game has basically everything you'd want in a Zelda game. I was blown away by the graphics and sound. You play as Link, a little older than he was in the Wind Waker. However, Hyrule has been overrun by twighlight. The added bonuses of being turned into a wolf and riding your horse into battle gives new perspective to the game play.
Learning the controls are easy enough, however, the camera angles get a little iffy sometimes and the horse riding looks really fake. The game is long and challenging while still being extremely fun to play. You rarely get irritated in the confusing dungeons. There is alot to explore outside of dungeons and many "mini" games to play along the way unlike the Wind Waker.
Overral this is a great game and packs alot of bang for your buck!
I am going to go over the aspects of this game one by one. before I start I want to say that this game will shock you at how good it is so read carefully and don't be fooled by some other peoples reviews.
The Graphics: The graphics overall were very good. Sometimes if you get too close to something you can see the graphics aren't as good as they seem. But, there really are some breathtaking views looking over Hyrule. Whether it be in the Zora's domain or in the middle of Hyrule field. You will like the graphics for this game.
Controls: The controls were fairly simple, I liked the fact that new moves were added on as you got further in the storyline. It does show however how much farther the wii has to go until shaking the remote goes to actually swinging the sword in real time. Thankfully thats what Wii motion plus is for. (it will be in next game, not this one)
Enemies: Some of the enemies were too simple for my taste. Alone they can be taken out very easily. Only towards the end of the game the enemies start to get challenging. They do have the unique zelda quality of the past game though. They are very well put together by the Zelda team. I love the alternate shadow monsters, they were amazing.
Bosses: Some of the bosses in this game were very easy, All of them looked awesome. Each one had a different quality to it. Whether it be a giant spider to a huge Goron gone bad. (my favorite was the underwater eel) But yes most were not challenging enough for me at least.
Storyline: As with all Zelda games, the storyline is deep. No matter what, it is always engaging. You actually feel a sense of urgency when rushing to get help for your injured friend. It is very captivating, the whole story with Zant. In his point of view he was just taking back what was theirs. When one of the main antagonists changes to your side you feel the power of this storyline.
Puzzles: There were certainly some brain teasers in this game, if you hate using your brain, this game isn't for you. It had puzzles from outrageously easy, to puzzles that take almost 30 minutes to figure out. They definitely spice up the gameplay and really gives that Zelda feel.
Sidequests: The sidequests were awesome, whether it be collecting golden bugs. Or collecting poe's souls, (similar to the golden skullita quest from ocarina of time). Or my personal favorite, the cave of ordeals. (The cave is basically wave after wave of tougher and tougher enemies as you get lower and lower in the cave) I beat the cave and collected all the golden bugs but the souls were just to challenging for me.
Overall: Buy this game, you wont regret it I promise. The only con I find in this game is the simple shaking to swing the sword. besides that this game awes me in every aspect. I hope I have helped your decision on whether or not you want to buy it :)
If you have a Nintendo Wii and don't have this game, than there is something wrong with you. So far this is probably the best game out for the Wii right now, the hype behind this game is real because this game is ingenius. First off is that this is actually a little more on the mature side, so people that are used to seeing Link like in "Windwaker" you most definetly won't find him here. Link is pretty much a man right now and it is for the better.
Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of those games that bring a groundbreaking experience like no other, this is probably better than its spiritual predecessor "Ocarina of Time" so this is arguebly the best Zelda ever created. As much as Ocarina of Time was THE first Zelda game to go 3-D, and that it was the first to do what it did, this Zelda is pretty much an upgrade in every possible way. The graphics, gameplay, music & sound, cinematics, pretty much everything is upgraded for the better. The game is a living, breathing world that is huge and diverse....you have grasslands, snow, underwater, even in the skies. You can mingle with people, buy and sell stuff, all sorts of things. This is a very long game it took me about 50 hours to beat (only because I decided to do extra sidequests), and even when your done with the story there are plenty of sidequests for you to do like collecting Golden Bugs or collecting Poe Souls.
The controls are the sellin point of Zelda, this is why people prefer the Wii version over the Gamecube version because of the things you can do with the Wii controller. The wii controller allows you to really have a feel to what your actually doing in the game, like for example swinging a sword now for a regular gamecube controller is just pressing a button repeatedly, but for the wii controller you actually have to swing the controller which really gets you in the game and never gets boring. The gameplay is great, whether your riding a horse, fishing for fishes or shooting at enemies with your bow it all just feels refreshing. The sound and music is epic and beautiful, you will hear familiar sounds when you recieve items and Links grunt never changes.
Now while this is a great game there is still little things that I have problem with. For one is the lack of voice acting in the game, you would they would do that sort of thing by now, although the cutscenes alone bring a certain depth that you can actually feel what is going on you still need some voice acting because reading is one thing I don't like to do in games especially in these times. (This is My Problem) I think that the game is extremely frustrating to get through by yourself without a walkthrough, I always find myself stuck somewhere almost in every f***in level it really makes me fell hella stupid sometimes that it's not even funny. But again they're just little things other than that this is a very good game.
Short rant: Amazon users, please don't post reviews for games if you haven't played them!
Ahem. And now for the review... I'll get straight to the point: If you love adventure games, you're going to be blown away by this one. It's the same Zelda that we all know and love, but with a bold new control scheme. For those of you who worry that arm-fatigue might set in after hours of virtual sword-swinging, fear not: Twilight Princess has just the right mix of action, adventure, and exploration, so there will be plenty of time to rest your arms in between bouts with monsters and the like.
For those of you who adored Ocarina of Time (read: most gamers), you'll be in heaven. Twilight Princess feels very much like the spiritual succesor to the game that many dubbed "best game ever." This game also adds many new features, such as fighting on horseback (you even joust in one section!).
The game is filled with magical moments, but of course the main draw is the incredibly well-designed dungeons, which are just as brilliant as ever. Well worth the time investment.
a dark cloud has decended over the land of Hyrule, were a terrible king of twilight is slowly growing in strength and a mysteriour prophecy must be fufilled. after nearly three years of waiting and much delay (it was delayed about four times) the next instalment in the Zelda series is here. and i have to say, it was well worth the wait. first off, the graphics are amazing, even if its not on the Ps3 it is still far beyond its time. first off, i wasent a big fan of the whole cartoonish look going on in Wind Waker and when i saw that this game would be back in hyper realistic form i swooned. next thing i have to address, dare i say it, Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game since Ocarina of Time! yep, thats right. let me explaing. first, the makers of the game have finally understood the concept of huge world scale. not to be a downer on Ocarina but the land of Hyrule seemed a bit...small. after two minutes, bam, i have crossed all of Hyrule field but in this game Hyrule has blown into huge, astronomical size! Lake Hylia is gargantuan, Death Mountain just towers above (though it does have a irregular shape) and as for Hyrule Field. well even on your faithful horse, it still takes a bit of time to reach one end to the other (try about fifteen minetes on foot). also, they managed to make the game lengthy (like nearly 50-70 hours of gameplay!). also, i have to say that since this is the first Zelda game to recive a teen rating, it might be a bit much for youngsters. if you have kids that are easily scared, then they should not get this cause the twilight relm is a scary place and there is a very dark story to the game but other then that i dont see how other kids can play. now, for my opinion i say the Wii is the way to go with this version. not only do you get the more realistic way of handling a sword and besides, its Wii. but if you dont have it, Gamecube also works. truly, Twilight Princess is a great swan song for the Gamecube and a great begining for Wii. so to see the birth of a brand new legend, Twilight Princess is the must have for all
If you had to sum up Twilight Princess in one word it would be Epic in fact so epic it will take a whoping 70 hours to complete or for those experts possibly 60 maybe 50 hours. In my eyes this is the best Zelda game since the original back in 1985.The reason being is the same feeling of being in a vast land much in the same way in the first Zelda , and to put correctly that is exactly right it is extremely vast , the graphics are phenominal , the controls are superb and for once Link is back to his old teenage warrior looking self, with the nunchuck and the wii controller gives it a hightend factor of fun , use the nunchuck and the wii conroller for your weapons and items makes this Zelda unique, you get friends along the way to help you you get a horse and you get to become a wolf wich i have to say is pretty damn cool. But just because you have an easier platform of controls don't make the mistake of thinking its going to make the game any easier it's not.At first you don't even get a sword until a little later.Another gripe i would have is that it was always a privaligde in most the Zelda games to have bombs , not this game instead your forced to use exploding insects other then that this is an awsome game for the Wii and should be a must on everyones list if they have one of these systems buy it you will be glad you did.
I've played Zelda games for years now and this one , by far, is the best one out there and the best I've ever played. Graphics are like watching a Disney movie but you can control the characters the the action.
If you are a TRUE Zelda fan then this game is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
