I usually don't like any of the Mario games. But I bought this one for my husband and surprisingly I love it! It makes great use of the Wii remote, is simple enough for anyone to play, and there are lots of great mini-games to play. Great to be able to play with other people but also be able to play solo. But like many of the other Wii games, it is addictive and you'll find that time has passed you buy quite quickly! Highly recommended.
I've never played any of the older Mario Party games, but really LOVE this game. It's a great game for the family to play together! This game has something for everyone. There are so many different things to do and play on MP-8. We've played several times already, and always get new games thrown at us. Some of the mini-games are a little confusing for my 7 year old, as they happen so fast, but after she plays them again in the arcade a few times, she gets the hang of it.
I have been playing this with my family a couple fo times a week, and it is a blast.
For those of you new to Mario Party, like I was, it is basically an animated board game style of play with mini games after each round. There are a few different boards to play on and tons of mini games that most any age can handle. My kindergartener has no problem competing against "normal" difficulty computer opponents, and easily beats the "easy" level in the mini games.
I fully recommend this for family entertainment. The only down side to it is the minimum number of turns is 10. For two players playing as a team against the computer, that means your game is going to be about 1 hour minimum. On the positive side, even my 6 year old does not get bored with it in that hour.
As an adult party game, it can be just as entertaining and very challanging. You will enjoy all the smack talking and strategy as you try to gather those stars. Just remember to never give up because you can spin around and win with just the right role or piece of candy.
This game is an awesome game which lets you play on 6 different party boards and 81 different mini-games. It has 5 different play modes like the mini-game tent, the extras zone, and my favorite, the party tent. There are a lot of great mini-games, but I think the duel mini-games are the best. There are also tons of things you can unlock in the fun bazaar. Overall, one of my favorite games.
My 6 year old son is a HUGE Mario fan. We got the Wii for xmas, and he loves it!! He says it's the best game ever and he loves that there are hidden characters in it to search for. He highly recommends it!!
THIS GAME USUS ONLY THE Wii REMOTE. GREAT FUN FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES. I ENJPY PLAYING WITH THE GRANDKIDS AND ALSO MANAGE TO FIND SOME TIME FOR MYSELF.
My 11-year-old grandson requested this game for his birthday. The whole family is having fun (boys 11, 8, 5) with the numerous options.
This game offers the mini games I've liked from the past versions on the N64 and game cube. Now they are produced for the Wii-mote and nun-chuck. A bonus is collecting game points to expand your mini-game selection and different "game board only" games where you play "monopoly like" games. Great variety!
My 4 year old LOVES this game! My 3 year old LOVES this game (although he's more of a spectator at this point). Since we have gotten this game we have had to put a time limit on the gaming. They would play all day if we let them. I think the best thing about Mario Party 8 is that it's got so many different things, that it doesn't get old or boring.
It would have been great if they could have made it a little more "active", the best part about the Wii is that most of the games require you to actually get up and move, not just sit like a lump playing video games. But all in all, it's a great game and I would recomend it to anyone. We all play together and the kids just think it's the coolest game ever!
I am 21 years old and I have so much fun with this game. Do it on your own or with a huge party and you will have a blast! I recommend this game highly!
I had been debating between this game and a few other party games and I'm glad I decided on this one. There are a lot of different games and some of the activities have hundreds of games within themselves so it's not easy to get bored
One of the greatest, most fun games I bought for my children (ages 6 and 8). It is over a month that they have it and they have yet to get bored of it. Each time they play, they discover something new which spikes their interest all over again. Great buy.
Wii is all about party games. Was so excited to get this game, bought 2 extra remotes & numchuks just for this. I invited some friends over for a get together the day this game arrived. We had a blast that day. Thought the mini games are mostly a bit too short / too easy, the unique boards made up for it. (I'm in the 30's and been a gamer since 20 yrs ago, that's why these minigames are a bit too simple IMHO)
The next day after friends left, me & my wife wanted to play some more. That's when we realized the game is really kinda boring and slow if only the 2 of us are playing. Also, don't think any of the mini-games uses the numchuks, so basically wasted the $40. So unless you constantly have 4 people playing this, I can't recommend it. For 2 player or single player, Rayman Rabbits has far better Mini-Games.
If you have kids, this game is great. I have kids 8, 5, and 3. All of them are able to participate. Not all of the games are easy for the kids, but we as a family help them out. I am really impressed with the large number of mini-games. I don't think that we have played them all yet. As parents we also play it together after the kids go to sleep. Thumbs up all around.
I'll admit up front I've never played any of the other Mario Party games, so I can't exactly compare it to any others.
The only reason I got to play this at all was because a kid I was babysitting brought it over and convinced me to play it with him. It really was a lot of fun, with a great deal of competitiveness. I only played one of the games with him, but later went back myself and tried some of the others and the mini-games. It's a fun thing to do during free time, and a lot more fun with multiple players.
Some of the objectives and controls took me a minute to grasp (mostly because I don't play with the Wii a lot), but I managed to kick his butt several times on my first time playing, so they're still pretty easy to pick up.
Overall, it's not the best game ever made, but it's a lot more fun than I expected.
