We bought this game after not purchasing any olympic sports games since the n64 or super nintendo. What a change! The graphics of course are great but the real value is in the play and replay value of the game. The variety of events and the ability to play all the way through the Olympics or just one event give this tremendous flexibility. The festival (whole event) setting is cleverly interspersed with dream events (more variety)and challenges which actually hone your skills. If you want a game to play and replay this is one to buy.
It is not difficult and not too easy. A good understanding of the events at the Olympics is a good start!
This was a Christmas gift for my two grandsons and they were thrilled. They have been playing it constatnly since the holidays and I am sure it will be a weekly even at their home. It was an easy sale and a quick sale. Thank you.
This Winter Olympic game is far better that the Summer games, and that was also fun!! The Bobsledding and Figure Skating is our family fav. I would definately recommend this!!
My 7 and 9 year olds love this game. They have learned about the winter olympics and my son was even explaining curling to me after playing the video game! We've all enjoyed playing as a family!!
We bought this game for Christmas and my family is really enjoying it. I would recommend it to anyone. I have a 7 year old daughter and she really loves it!!
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old niece. She absolutely loves it!
These titles are boring, stupid, pointless and lame. Mario and Sonic both fight baddies and their nemisis's in new advantures not go snow boarding together with bowser and eggman.....this is so stupid. Give us a real Mario + Sonic adventure combining the mario enemies/levels with sonic's to defeat eggman & bowser, that would be awesome not this garbage.
My grandson tells me which video games he wants. He is hooked on Mario. He says this game is awesome---SO you know it is good!!!
Lots of fun with the kids. Really have enjoyed this game since getting it last Christmas. Would recommend for anyone looking for good fun without violence, language, etc. Need more games like this.
My wife, 4-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son, and I all love this game. The balance board makes it so even our 2-year-old can enjoy the games even though he hasn't mastered the pointing yet. Worth every penny!
This was a gift for my 11 yr. old son. It turned out to be as much a gift for the whole family..with the wii balance board we have family game night more often!
great way to learn about the olympic games. provides hours of family fun and competition!
I was a huge fan of Mario and Sonic at the Summer Olympic Games. Now, I can't play that game without comparing it to this one. I'm assuming that you have played the first game, but you don't need to have played it to enjoy this one in anyway. There are new characters, one in every skill type. They are Metal Sonic for speed, Bowser Jr. for all around, D.K for power, and Silver for skill. Also, there are more dream events, which are (thankfully) nothing like the glitching four dream events in the last. It has great graphics, and is much more easier to navigate. From here, I will give you a run down of some of the events and my opinions. You can, but don't have to, use your wii balance board for some events, including bobsleigh, my favorite.
FIGURE SKATING: All about timing. You pick your own musical choice from a selection provided (Some of the songs include Ave Maria, waltz of the flowers, etc.) and make motions with the wii mote in time to the music. It is one of my and my friends favorite, though it sounds and looks much harder than it is. Don't let that discourage you!
HOCKY: This is best with more than one person. It is the best multiplayer event in the game. My friends and i had so much fun. The directions, however, are very unclear.
THE MULTIPLE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING EVENTS: these are the most disappointing. They all seem the same, and are hard to control.
BOBSLEIGH/SKELETON: these are very fun and realistic. you have the option of using the Wii balance board, where you can steer the sled with your weight by swaying back and forth. It almost seems real. Or you could play the normal way, which is just as fun.
CURLING: Bocci on Ice. My only complaint with this is that its the longest event by far. It takes from 15-20 minutes to complete a tournament. As oposed to the usually 2-5 minute events.
SPEED SKATING: All about timeing. It can be kind of frustrating, but I find it very fun.
Overall, this a very fun game. It's alot better with more than one person, though. For one player, there is festival mode, which is a one player adventure mode. It is not too tough, nor too easy. I found it to be very enjoyable. Another thing is... do not purchase this game if you are troubled with rythems. this game is all about timing, swinging the wiimote down at the right time. It can be VERY frustrating at times. I'd recommend this from ages 8 to 15 or adult.
So, here I am telling you more bad things than good about the game, and I'm rating it 5 stars. Truly, please believe me when i say this is the good game. I just have an annoying habit of being negative. This is well worth the price.
This is a great game to have a parties or if you have a lot of video game players living together.
Most of the games on it are simple enough to pick up pretty quick. There were only a couple that were kind of frusterating. I don't think it is meant to be a challenging game at all, just something fun. So if you are looking for more a challenge with Mario you would be better off getting Super Mario Galaxy
My favorite game was the bobsledding and luge. It incorporates the Wii Balance Board. You sit on it and lean left and right to control the bobsleigh or luge.
Overall a very good game for the Wii!
