This is a great game for the whole family for a great price. We have played this together since Christmas and it's a lot of fun. Reasonable price for what you get too.

bOUGHT THIS FOR MY GRANDSON, HE LOVES THIS GAME. BEST PRICE BY FAR. CHECKED ALL OVER, AMAZON WAS THE BEST PRICE BY FAR

I bought this game for Christmas 2009 based on other reviews and wish I wouldn't have wasted my money. It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to control the thing. Pictureka you try to click on the right thing and it clicks on something next to it. Connect 4 it will never drop in the right slot. Operation...I know they say "it takes steady hands" but I think they designed it for a pediatric brain surgeon. Jenga, same as Operation. The only thing that is mildly entertaining is the family game and watching your Mii cheer or hang its head in shame. I don't recommend this game to anyone...even the pediatric brain surgeon. It is just plain not fun.

Both Hasbro Family Game Nights 1 & 2 are excellent family games. Great games for all ages, great to play by yourself and great to play as a group. I have to say the favorite in my house on the Family Game Night 2 is Pictureeka!

This was a great game too play with the family. A lot of multi players can play at the same time. It's great family fun. It's also fun to play by yourself too.

I rented this over a week ago at blockbstr, so excuse any memory lapse...

graphics/background

background graphics were much improved, you are now on a roof of a building in NY, China? or las vegas. (perhaps more are unlockable.)

sounds/music

like the first game, I was impressed with the details in the sound. the music is ok, it's upbeat overall, but it can be a bit annoying.

potatoheads

you now have mrs. potato head with mr. potato head as choices, but they seem to interact less & less animations. the potatoheads seem to barely be there during the game, they might as well be a pictire & sometimes they aren't there at all, like in pictureka or perfection. hasbro really listened to the complaints people had about the potatohead making noises during the games, I liked him being there, sad to see them barely there. the unlockable outfits are a nice touch (get one for having a saved game of the first family game night) & there are MANY to choose from & you mix/match limbs/face features from any of the theme outfits such as policeman, gameshot host, pirate, rock star, frankenstein, etc. it will take a lot of games to unlock each & every part of all the outfits.

games

pictureka

never played the original & it wasn't as easy as I thought. you scroll to different scenes if the object or objects you're looking for aren't there.

remix - it adds "sounds like" to find the object that makes the sound on the card & only one other remix idea that I forgot.

perfection

loved it as a kid, this is completely different except for the theme. you click on the oject the text asks for. it then zooms into the body & you have to grab it & then pull it through rings that are in the shape of that object. it's very easy & do best if you barely move your wrist. I saw the DS tailer that shows it more a 2d side scroll to pull it out & it looked to be more fun & more average challenge. the only gameplay is if you don't clear the rings or grab it in time, you play small mini games to "save" sam from ...errr... from losing your chance at points on that turn. the only other gameplay is scrubbing germs away or blasting them with the IR pointer. has single player option.

jenga

didn't like it on bloom blox, so... good controls though, good physics & animations. I don't remember any remix options, but sure there was 1-2, but barely changed anything.

bop it

never played the real version, has different options to hear what to do, such as by voice of a guy, by beat, by sound, etc. pretty intuitive controls, bop is A, then holding B while either turning, pulling, or lifting for the other motions. also choice of 4 basic music background like rock, latin, pop, etc.

connect 4 X 4

I loved connect 4 on the original family game night. this version is so that there can be 4 players,(if only 1 player, there is always 3 AI). I enjoyed the original version, though the AI on easy was pretty easy, not as dumb as the easy on the 1st game, but smart is very smart, a huge leap, though on the 1st game I was on genius most times. it also is because not only do you have 4 solid colored chips to watch, but 4 open hoop chips at the same time.

remix - like the 1st game, this has power ups. but instead of the great power up chips, there are some bad perment spots that are there if you can get a chip there. some are just extra points, there's 1 bomb that throws a whole load of your colored chips raining down. there's a teleport that lets you go ANYWHERE you want, even if that spot is already taken. these powerups seem a bit off-balance & take away some of the strategy. you can choose to either play until whoever is first to get a connect 4 or total amount in several choice time limits.

game show & high score

multiplayer game that incorporates all the games in minigame form to compete.

Alot of fun but slightly more difficult for kids I as a 25 year old had some issues playing a couple of the games. Overall its a fun game

I purchased three of these for Christmas gifts. One of the gifts was for my daughter & son-in-law who live in a condo with limited storage space for games. This was the perfect gift with lots of those favorite board games. She tells me that they have really enjoyed playing and not having to get out the equipment needed. She did tell me they prefer the first Hasbro Family Game Night the best, since I did give them both.

I was a fan of the first Hasbro Fam. Game Night..but the 2nd one is great for both single and multiplayer...You can actually play a random selection of all the mini games within the classic game as single player now. You can use your own mii! The controls are great...and I'm nostalgic about being awarded prizes for all the different Mr.Mrs. Potatoe head faces I can make.

I can't stop playing bop it, pictureka or Jenga...But as mini games...in remix mode...all the games flow together seamlessly...much better than the first game.

More mini game collections should have this random remix option for all their games to keep it fresh.

The first one, wasn't as fun playing multiplayer, but this one definitely got it right.

They improved and fixed a lot of things in this game compared to the first one. I really like Operation, Pictureka, and Jenga. The controls are pretty smooth, and the graphics are good. I would have liked to have seen a larger collection of games included, but overall it is a nice addition to the Wii library as far as family gaming goes. We have played it with players as young as ten and as old as fifty-six and so far everyone has enjoyed it.

It is a nice addition being able to unlock different pieces/collections of Mr. Potato head.

Was hard to control remote ... don't think my kids can even play it for themselves. We were excited to see operation ... can't figure out how to do it. It was very hard to grab the object we were to remove from the "patient".

I bought this game for the family to be able to sit down and play together (big fan of multi player games), but I found this game a little difficult for my young son to play. He couldn't get the fine motor control that's necessary for it, but when he gets older it looks like it might be some fun. The games rely on very fine motor control to pick out specific small pictures or to hit the right row in Connect 4.

I think that this will be more fun as he gets older, but I bought without looking at reviews first.

Purchased this game for the family Christmas 2009. The entire group of us, ranging from ages 20-65 found the "upgrades" to the game rules unnecessary and the actual classic versions of the games a little difficult to decipher. For video versions of classic Hasbro games that we had all played for years, this version was a little more "work" than "fun".
