I'm in my middle 40's and really never really got much exercise over

the last 20 years;

so I bought the Wii fit a while back,

This made a gym in my own living room possible,

I LOVE WORKING OUT in the privacy of my own home, no gym fees, no pretty little gym outfit to buy,

I lost weight and gained muscle mass within a few weeks.

The exercises are fun and some can be quiet exhausting,

I love using the Wii fit with the balance board but after a while it got a bit boring just doing all the same things all over again,

So this is what I did:

I bought:

My Fitness Coach by UBI Soft

and

Gold's Gym Cardio Workout (you can use the Wii Balance board with it)

I also bought some hand weight and a stability ball (to use with the fitness coach)

Now this is my exercise regiment every day:

Wii fit + My fitness coach on even days

Wii Fit + Gold's Gym Cardio Workout on uneven days

Now people that is FUN!!!

I'm working full time but I'm looking forward to my workout at night.

Fitness coach and Gold's Gym Cardio Workout will give you a total workout without having to constantly switch between different exercises,

In the fitness coach you can choose the workout time and in the Gold's Gym Cardio Workout you can choose a prepared workout or an a la carte, where you can actually choose how hard you want to work out.

Let me tell you, I had muscle aches on muscles I did not know I had ;-)

I love it and everyone should have it and live a little healthier and (maybe) live a little bit longer!

Overall, I like this game. It is definitely possible to work up a good sweat and feel it the next day! The music and backgrounds get a little boring, but it's not the end of the world to me.

I really enjoy this game and it actually motivates me I'm trying not to spend any of my gold so i can get the panda but a girls gotta shop. I prefer to play with two wii remotes instead of the nunchuck. You will be whipping your self with the cord it you use nunchuck. I also try to do some of the workouts on a bosu ball it adds some challenge and hopefully dampens some of the noise of me "jump roping" in an apartment.

I love this DVD workout! I had the original that came with the wii fit balance board and didn't really like it. It got lost so I ended up ordering this and I'm so glad I did! It's fun, keeps you entertained and makes you sweat. On days I don't feel like or can't go to the gym I use this and also a pilates ball workout and I alternate and feel sore the next day. It's really fun and my kids even like it. I do wish it used the balance board more but at least it uses it at all! Some of them don't. Anyway, great purchase, glad I did!

I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and have cross-trained in boxing, Muay Thai, and other martial arts. Since getting married and having two kids, I have had little time to do anything even closely related to exercise, much less martial arts. From an exercise as well as a martial arts training perspective, this game is incredibly fun and effective, particularly for those who have limited time and resources.

If you are trained in the proper form for throwing the various punches used in this game, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout is a great way to maintain and practice proper form, get a great workout at home, and have fun.

While a Wii controller can be "fooled" by using motions similar to throwing a punch, this game can be an incredible full-body workout if the punches are thrown correctly and you actually duck and weave. For those who are serious, focus on the following two items:

(1) Not hyperextending your elbow/arm when throwing a punch. Always keep a slight bend in your elbow.

(2) Picturing your punch - particularly those thrown from your "reverse" (back) hand - as a full-body motion. Power in your punch does not come simply from your arms, but from your legs, your hips/waist, torso, AND arms. All of these areas should move in one fluid motion.

To illustrate, try this: with your right leg back, put your right elbow on your waist with your fist perpindicular (90 degrees) from your body. Now twist your right hip from the back to the front of your body without moving your arm. That "punch" is power developed from your hips alone! Add that to power from the actual "punching" motion of your arm and your legs, and you have more power than from the punching motion alone. Plus, you are using (and exercising) your full body in the process.

Enjoy your workout! This is a fantastic game and training tool.

Wii is fast becoming the 'gym buster' for alot of people. Golds Gym Cardio Workout is a great addition. Golds Gym is not about stellar graphics like the EA Sports Active, but it gets you moving and gives you a positive perspective toward cardio boxing. The program progresses the more you do it. So initally it may last 15 minutes or so, but the more you do it, exercises and activities are unlocked (don't worry, you will be constantly unlocking something or earning credit for the gift shop). Under the exercise catagory, after awhile you will unlock the training mode. In this mode you can set a time from 1 minute all the way to 99 minutes. I believe EA Sports Active really opened the door for a lot people to exercise with Wii, and it is top notch. However, Golds Gym in general gets you moving and sweating much faster than EA Sports Active. Now, when I first heard Golds Gym was more of a boxing program, I wasn't ready to run out and get it. But it's really about 'Shape Boxing', which works more of the body and the mind. It works the body by constantly keeping your whole body moving back and forth. It works the mind by keeping you concentrating on the 'combination' of punches. You may Jab, weave, duck or a combination of these and many other moves. So it gets you sweating. The program is not so strict that if you throw a jab rather than a hook, it won't stop the exercise to lecture you about it as the EA Sports Active does (can be annoying). Now that is a trade off, because there are exercises that you need to do correctly like the stretching ones, but not this one and that's what makes it enjoyable.

Before I bought this program, I watched a video on Youtube of a guy describing it as he showed the screen. One such video can be found at: [...]

I'm looking forward to the next offering in Golds Gym Cardio Workout series.

Keep fit, have fun, and stay at home!

When I purchased the wii - I was very impressed with the system - my purpose for its use is for a good fitness program for myself - no time for gyms and tired of the boring cardio workout videos.

So I decided to give the Gold's Gym Cardio workout a try - good price so I had nothing to lose and alot to gain! Well I was so pleasantly surprised!! I love it!!! It is a great workout - and the levels are managable - I don't feel over tired when I am done with a work out - I LOVE that you can "buy" workout clothes with points earned - it is a very good program - worth its weight in gold - I have only been using it for a few days - and I already feel more energy and even a little tighter in my ab region!!!

I've been weary of Wii "workout" games ever since purchasing a Wii Fit and being disappointed. Besides the balance games and boring running routine, there wasn't anything that broke a sweat!

I carefully read the reviews and decided to give "Gold's Gym" a try (despite the horrible marketing). No offense to anyone, but if you label a game "Cardio Workout" and then put a pretty woman on the cover in yellow sports bra, I don't know how many guys would want to seriously consider it a "work out" game. Well, perhaps that's the market they're going for.

Anyhow, about the actual game: I LOVE IT. I'm a 27/m, 6'1" and 210 pounds, pretty muscular, but also a little flabby. My weight ranges +/- 10 pounds depending on the season and how busy I am. I've been wanting to tone down but can't commit myself to a cardio routine. I've always enjoy lifting weights but never been able to stick to a good aerobic regime. I tried this "game" for a few days and my legs and arms are EXTREMELY sore! I've been missing this soreness - especially from a cardio workout.

Basically, this is a 'cardio boxing' game. They should make it more clear. I've already gotten rid of my Wii Fit so I don't use the Balance Board with it (losing out on 4 games.. boo hoo). I love the basic punches, jabs, upper cuts, and ducking/maneuvering moves. They make you TIRED in 15-20 minutes and have you sweating in no time. The graphics are extremely cartoonish and I wish they had less of a Japanese anime feel but it gets the job done.

Music is so-so and there are only three backgrounds. I would've preferred real-life looking instructors and more options to customize my character, along with better calendar/tracking features. However, the prepared workouts and boxing tests give it a good overall feel.

Once again, after a week's use, I'm EXTREMELY satisfied. I feel like for the first time in my life I'll be able to stick to a aerobic regime and not just throw weights around (which never helped me tone down, only bulk up).

Guys - it's ok to play this game ;) Just use the excuse that you are "shadow/shape boxing" and not playing some cardio game. I've been working out for the past 10 years on and off, and finally, this game is a great cardio/aerobic addition to my workout routine that I can stick with (hopefully for a long-term since it's on the Wii and easy to use)

P.S = make sure you use the two remote settings and not the remote-nunchuck, especially if you have long arms like I do!

I love this wii game! I just bought it this weekend and am really enjoying the workouts so far. They teach you different punches and then have you practice them. New games unlock as you finish the practice punch games. Great cardio workout!

This is a fantastic cardio boxing workout - one of my favorites and a great value. It is primarily a boxing game - don't expect lots of other exercises. But having said that, for the money I think it is definitely worth it. If you follow along with the full body movements as instructed, it is a good cardio workout. You have to punch *hard* in order for the game to register your movements, but this just makes you work hard! The graphics are basic, but I'm not looking for graphics, I'm looking for a workout.

Pros:

-You can use two wii remotes instead of a remote/nunchuck combo so you don't have to worry about the wires

-Game starts simple and teaches you all of the various punches, weaves, etc. so that you learn the moves and then work up in intesity and complexity.

-You can do a pre-made workout or choose exercises a la carte

-The game keeps track of your daily punch count as well as giving you a calendar to show which days you worked out.

-It is fairly customizable - you can choose your trainer, your mii, the scenery (beach, forest, gym), your clothes (and you can "buy" more clothes as you go along) and your music

-You do not have to have a balance board (I don't)

Cons:

-Graphics are basic and not varied

-Music choices are limited

-This is *only* a cardio boxing workout. It isn't a comprehensive workout game

I have a 3 year old and I work full-time, to get out to the gym is impossible. So I try to find good at home workouts.

I was hesitant with the boxing aspect since I have a Brachial Plexus injury from birth which left my arm partially paralyzed. I didn't know if it would record my movements enough, but it does. I use the 2 remote method rather than the nun chuck one. It will be great exercise for my arm, I can tell already.

I've only used it 3 times since I got it 4 days ago, and if your looking for a great workout the shape boxing portion with its combinations get you moving. Heck even when I miss my mark, I'm still getting a workout. And if I miss too many it sucks me in to try again, very similar to the step aerobics on the Fit game.

I got it on sale, but even if I paid [..]for it, I would have no complaints. I have been talking non stop to everyone I know about it, and recommending they come try it.

I can feel so many different muscles in my arms, back and butt that have been affected by this workout. I worked up a sweat every time, and I'm only on intermediate.

It's a MUST HAVE!!!!

This is a good game and it will work up a sweat. However, I am not sold on the idea that it can be used in isolation...

Used as a added set of workouts with the Wii Fit, this will melt pounds off of the user. I am almost certain of that. And it will work up a sweat. But it's focus is mainly on "Shape Boxing" rather than the overall approach that Wii Fit takes, so your enjoyment of it will be directly proportional to your enjoyment of boxing simulations on the Wii.

One other thing that has to b said about this is that it lacks the polish that Wii Fit has. Wii Fit feels like it was designed to be all inclusive. It just has a certain "Feel" about it. This game feels like it was a boxing workout with some other exercises tacked on.

I don't want to take anything away from this game - it is superb at what it does. But what it does is simply not enough in isolation.

This workout is terrific and very fun to do. I was looking for something new to add to my regimen and saw a review of this in one of my son's gaming books. The instructions are great and easy to follow. The workout uses both upper and lower body muscles. And I love the way your trainer gets onto your face if you're not paying attention like you should be. You'll be sweating in no time. My only disappointment was not with the game but with the fact that I have some lower back problems and am not able to do some of the moves but this was easily worked around. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to begin an exercise routine but doesn't want the ordinary or to anyone who just wants to add to an established workout. Hey, it got my husband off his butt and exercising! Now that's good! LOL

I love this game. My only problem is I don't want to stop playing, but I know I will regret it the next day if I play too long!

This is one of the best at home workouts I have ever gotten!

I bought the My fitness Coach 3 months ago and it was great at first until I got bored with it. I was sick of jumping all the time and pretty much the same workout except when Maya (the fitness coach) gives you a new one. I then bought the Cardio Golds Gym Boxing and I must say it's way BETTER than the fitness coach.
