I am not a huge fan of working out, but I've found that if I can insert some competitive, progress tracking, and gaming elements into it, I can both maintain a decent regimen over time and have some fun doing it. But be aware, this is not a "game" like Wii Fit. It focuses squarely on real workouts.
I am loving this addition (it's not really a sequel, since it doesn't come with the thigh band and rubber piece the original does) to Sports Active so far. The fact that it has some very good ab workouts is perfect for me. Like the original, if you're motivated, you can really get a fantastic workout from this game, especially when you create custom workouts focusing on your own preferences.
The real downside is that you can't combine the workouts from the original game with these to create killer variety custom workouts. But I've been getting around this by alternating use of the original and this addition.
I'm a 54 year old woman and have really been lax in the work out department. I recently lost 20 lbs so thought it was time to tone up also. I have to say I'm really enjoying this workout. But I also have to say that I used it only 3 weeks before I broke the exercise band. I've replaced it with a exercise tube that challenges me more but is a little cumbersome with the remotes and knumchuck. I'm doing the 6 week challenge plus I add about 20 minutes each session of workout on my own. Love the step and cardio boxing! Can't say that I actually see any results yet, but after all the squats I'm definately feeling stronger.
I did the 30 day challenge on the first version of EA Sports Active. I didn't think the "more workouts" thing would be that much different, but I went ahead and got it anyway. I must say, this is actually harder, yet A LOT more fun because it engages with more of your imagination. Also they added warm up stretches. I'm now doing the 6 week challenge, and even though I'm starting at the Easy level, it does require a working knowledge of all the workouts I did in the first version. I would not have been able to dive into this had I not done the 30 day challenge on the first version because I would not have known how to properly do a squat, lunge, etc.
The original EA Sports Active saw one size drop from my waistline and 10 pounds come off the scale. Finally I had found something I could do at home that would both keep me in shape and make getting in shape fun. I didn't think they could improve upon the original product, but along comes EA Sports Active: More Workouts to prove me wrong!
- Sequel Features -
More Workouts is an add-on to the original Sports Active game. Whereas the original game promoted exercise and healthy habits, the sequel adds on to these concepts with record keeping, eating habits, and stretching all while adding all new, all-fun exercises. If you've previously purchased EA Sports Active, starting More Workouts will immediately prompt you to import your previous data. This allows you to keep your journal up-to-date, while at the same time enabling the new exercises into your workout.
- The Workouts -
You start each workout with full body stretches. This allows your muscles to loosen up a bit and prepare for your upcoming workout. After stretching, you then roll right into the workouts. Each workout promotes safe and effective exercises. Each day's workout will focus on a particular muscle group, and mix in exercises to work out your core muscles as well. It'll be weeks before you notice any major repetition in the workouts, and every day will feel as if you're doing something new! After each workout, you'll cool down your body with more stretching.
- Additional Features -
More Workouts includes the same great journal and record keeping as the previous title, and improves upon the concept with stat keeping as well. You're rewarded at major milestones with "Trophies" and messages pop up on screen every time you beat set goal.
- Final Opinion -
EA Sports Active: More Workouts is a great way to get exercise while having a fun time as well. To me, it's the first true fitness experience in a video game. I've played the rest of them and this seems to be the best all-around experience. I highly recommend this game to anyone who might be looking for a way to get fit, but might be too afraid to join a gym, or just doesn't feel like paying the monthly fee. This is a great game and a great way to stay active!
I have the first version of EA Active and found it to be a great workout-especially as you consistently use it and progress from moderate to hard. I was excited to see a new version had came out as a follow up-and it did not disappoint. Great workouts-in fact I started the challange in the hard (most advanced) mode because I workout regularly and had been using this mode on EA Active, and I had to move down to moderate-which still provides a great overall workout. I love that this version provides warm-ups and cool downs and also includes ab workouts. Also, the routines are not as repetitive as the first version-a much greater variety.
If you want a great overall workout-this is a great choice.
You will not be disappointed in this product. the beginning workout itself will have you sweating.
While I have not evaluated all workout videeos, I have my doubts that there is another one something better than More Workouts. I strongly recommend it to any one that wants to getg fit and have a good time.
I'm so happy that I purchased this software. It's a great way to stay in shape in a fun way. I like beating the expected calories to burn and receiving my trophies. I have to say that I didn't expect the workouts to be so intense and fun at the same time. My body is feeling the workout... and I look forward to the transformation from it.
I love working out with boxing, water skiing, jogging, step areobics, and many other ways of getting the heart pumping and getting into better shape. I'm 100% satisfied with this product.
great challenge for total workout. Exercises are a bit more difficult than the first sports active but works many different muscle groups. Great for continuing to challenge your body
This is a great workout....thinking about cancelling my gym membership! I would recommend it for anyone! It is a good addition to the original active...or you can just buy this one and get a great workout.
'This is a great workout with a lot of variety. It is challenging at the 'High' level and works all parts of the body. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is motivated.
Great workout for someone like me who likes to sit on the couch but needs some exercise. Wasn't interested in paying or going to a gym. This game tracks your progress, only frustrating part is when it doesn't read your movements but that doesn't happen too often.
I have the original adn now the more exercises of the EA Active. I love the new exercises. The games link up so everything you do in the old games transfers back and forth so you can use both at the same time.
Very good workouts, keeps you interested. I was bored with my exercise DVDs and I discovered the first version of Sports Active, which is very good too, but the second one is even better.
Workout options are fun and challenging. I like the variety it provides of switching equipment and activities frequently. I am hopeful that it will provide a good indoor option during the cold winter! I am also enjoying the "Workout with a Friend" mode, where my son and I work out simultaneously and could be a competitive or supportive environment depending how we want it. Sometimes the Wii had trouble recognizing my moves, but it's not too frequent. More often, it catches me being lazy and won't count my half efforts!! Definitely worth it for exercise!
