Got this game as a birthday gift for my kid and she absolutely loves it. Since it has different levels, it can cater to various skill levels. They have made it interesting to sustain the interest level for the kids.
I'm not sure how much you actually learn from this game that helps you in the real world, but this is a very fun title. Its one of those games that, after you've learned how to play the different puzzles, anyone in the family can do it. We recently had this game on a family holiday and found that it was a fun way to foster friendly competition.
This is a fun game.
Good for parties too.
Too bad the multiplayer aspect isn't as great as I would have liked it. You can have multiple players in a team but only two at a time can compete simultaneously. Then you have to swap between your team mates.
Overall, it's fun.
My family is very competitive and so this game is great cause we can play each other and also play on our own to beat previous records. Of course my husband hates it cause I have beat him at everything, but what can I say, It is a test of marriage also. Just kidding. great game, go get it. Also would be great for someone on the verge of Altzheimers.
This game has received a lot of bad press because it wasn't want people expected. They expected it to be like Brain Age on the DS, while there is room for improvement this game is actually really fun. Perhaps the biggest surprise to me was how much fun the multi-player mode was. Everyone that I have had over has enjoyed the game and commented that they didn't know why it was so addictive. The multi-player mode allows you to work as teams against each other, or a computer to solve puzzles as fast as you can...it becomes quite fun and intense!!! The single player mode is also fun as you constantly are trying to improve your score. When you take the exam, you're tested in all five styles of mental games and you receive a weight and grade score for you brain. You're encouraged to spend a little time each day working at it and it's really fun. This game is easy and challenging at the same time and I think that kids and adults would like it if you're in the right mind set. It's not a traditional video game but it's really fun and I can easily see families enjoying a little brain age fun which I think is kind of cool.
Okay, I don't know if I have a precocious 4-year-old or not, but this is the single Wii game that she plays with any success. She is not reading yet so this limits the games she plays, but there are some in which I can read the options for her to choose from. The math games are also too difficult for her, although those are the ones I enjoy the most. I am happy that she enjoys the games, some of which test memory, analysis skills, and visual recognition.
As for myself, an adult, the game is amusing in small doses. There come points in which I am unsure as to how to improve my overall score - for some games it easier than others. I had the DS Big Brain Academy as well, and I prefer the Wii version. My daughter also enjoyed the DS version, too.
If you have a young child and would like them to play a game on the Wii, I recommend this game.
I bought this game for my husband from his wishlist. It turned out to be a fun game that we both enjoy plus great for parties! We had our friends over and compared our "brains". It was a blast seeing what each other was good at or not so good. The commentary is a bit tedious to go through after awhile but that's what the "A" button is for! This is about our 7th game to get for the Wii and it was worth the purchase! There are lots of options on it to keep us entertained for awhile. I was worried that this seemed more oriented towards kids and we'd go through it fast but it doesn't seem that way (maybe that says something about our intelligence but I don't want to go there!).
I can feel myself get smarter! its fun by yourself AND with a group, AND with one other person! My boyfriend and I compete to see who's the "smartest."
I am of course.
This is an awesome game and I totally love it, it makes me think a lot, which I like.
This is a great game to play with your kids...it tests all aspects of the brain and it is really fun.
Do you enjoy watching a hundred dialog screens between each 90-second game?
Screens like: "Hi I'm Dr Node" [press A button] "Welcome to Big Brain Academy" [press A button] "We are going to have a lot of fun" [press A button] "first lets register" [press A button] "let's see your score" [press A button] "your score was ____" [press A button] "great job" [press A button] "try to get more next time" [press A button] "here's a bronze medal" [press A button] "let's see your score again" [press A button] "What a big brain you have" [press A button] "I haven't said anything informative yet have I" [press A button] "isn't this cute?" [press A button] "not tedious at all" [press A button] "you like having gameplay constantly interrupted, right?" [press A button] "it's like sitting in traffic!" [press A button] "you drive for 30 seconds" [press A button] "then sit and wait for me as I chew your ear off" [press A button] "and you can't even just hold down the A button" [press A button] "you have to wait for each text box to pop up" [press A button] "and only then can you skip it" [press A button] "okay, next game!" [press A button] "no wait i changed my mind" [press A button] "lets show you a crappy navigation scheme based on a school hallway" [press A button] "seems like the only qualification of the gamemakers who designed this..." [press A button] "was their agreement to sleep with the men and women at our HR dept." [press A button] "okay, let's play!"
The brain games themselves are fun, but the hassle of getting to each one exceeds the pleasure of actually playing. (This complaint is similar to that of Wii Fit, where each exercise is punctuated by intro and outro dialogs that destroy any rhythm you might have built up.) It seems like a lot of Wii games do this, which is why i don't buy a lot of Wii games anymore.
"Wii Big Brain Academy" will be collecting dust on the shelf. :(
I have a lot of the "brain" products for the DS. This game is even better. I really like being able to play on the bigger screen of the tv. It has helped stimulate my brain in the short time I have used it (1 week). It can seem repetative, but still challenging. I would highly recommmend this game to anyone of any age.
This is a very fun game to play, especially for children. It really makes you work your brain and have fun at the same time.
This is a fantastic game that challenges your mind in a very playful manner. The more you play, the more you want to beat your previous scores, as well as the scores of others. Apparently, games such as this are proving to be very healthy for the brain, and for preservation and improvement of cognitive abilities. Be careful, though, as you might find yourself frustrated if you can't get your brain to "weigh" more than other peoples' brains!
This game really makes your brain think in fun different ways. Lots of different puzzles, game styles and competition. This game is tons of fun and highly recommended for ALL ages. Really fun competition solo (go for the gold and platinum medals) or with a friend.
HOW BIG IS YOUR BRAIN? Don't know? Well, find out! BUY THIS GAME!
FIVE STARS *****
