I am big fan of the 80's Transformers cartoon show. When I saw clips of how the game looked I was really excited this would be the game to do justice to the transformers universe, I was wrong the about that. The best thing about this game are the graphics 9 out of 10. The control is okay but could be improved 7 out of 10. The worst part of this game are the guns/cannons. This is first shooter/action game I ever played where I am running out of ammo all the time. If you shoot at two transformers guess what YOU'RE OUT OF AMMO. Then trying to if more ammo is like finding a needle in a hay stack. You can tell the programmers of this game were trying to cash in on this property and not produce a good game. This game is a RENTAL not a buy. If you want a great shooter game to play then try Sin & Punishment for the Wii. This game makes me very sad.

I waited for this game with such anticipation for months, yet was etremely skeptical

about what we were going to get upon release. Transformers games, and

games based on mega popular IP's, always seem to be underwhelming, or, downright

aweful. I think there were 1000's of fans like me anxious in that regard! =)

In fact I rented it, before I decided to buy it.

Well, I am happy to say any fans of the first Generation of Transformers from the 80's

and even new fans of Transformers are going to fall in love with this game.

Peter Cullen voicing Prime is just aces, and the other voice actors do a terrific

job. The graphics, while yes, might be a bit repetitive due to being on a metal

planet. But how can you incorporate the traditional, colorful, sand zone, water zone,

forest zone, etc on Cybertron? You can't, and I think the developers nailed it

with what they had to work with. I don't think the Decepticons planted flower gardens. =)

While I am loving the campaighn, I have to say the PVP is the most fun I've

possibly had in a PS3 game..to Transform into a Cybertronian Truck and ram

an opposing player or unleash a missile barrage, then transform seemlessly,

into a Robot and unleash your cannons is just

amazing. The controls are tight, and aiming is just right.

With four classes to choose from, and nice customizing options, you will surely find

a class that will work best for you. Even when getting blasted to dust by an

opposing player, I can't help but have a smile on my face...well... sometimes :)

There are some minor negatives. For me, running out of ammo in the campaighn

has been a little frustrating as times.

There are a few other small things..but the good so outperforms the bad, I just can't

bother to be so picky.

This is the game Transformers fans have been waiting for, for wayyy too long.

Another nice part is that Hasbro has allowed this game to be cannon, so you

are playing an actual history of the Transformers.

Thank you High Noon, and here's hoping the game is successful enough to have a part two

in the works, and we have a new series here for years to come!

For the first time ever there is a decent transformers game. This game not only is incredibly fun to play but it is consistent with G1 canon, which is a must for old G1 fans out there like me. The levels have a significant amount of replayability and the story keeps you going through the levels. One of the added bonuses is the banter between characters that are doing the missions with you.

If there were any flaws that I could see in this game, is that you cannot co-op on the same screen. However, if you look at how much time you are going to be spending playing the game on your own, this doesn't measure up much. I am a big fan of the campaign missions.

The multiplayer is great. It has just enough extra added due to being able to transform and select your game type that it makes it stand above similar third person shooters multiplayer. All in all I give it a 4.5 which rounds up to 5 stars. Good Job guys!

This could have been an amazing game, not being made as a movie runoff, but the developers decided to copy off of numerous games (halo series, cod, cod zombies, etc), and implement different aspects into their 'game'. I don't really mind this, but it would have been nice for the developers to have some originality.

My personal biggest problem is the combat, once again. I thought that all robots on Cybertron were supposed to be one of a kind? And shouldn't an energon powered robot be able to have unlimited ammunition, aside from missles? Instead of just blowing up, wouldn't it be much more realistic if the enemies would lose parts according to where you shot them? AND WHERE IS THE MELEE? YOU ONLY GET ONE MELEE MOVE?!?!? IM STILL WAITING ON A TRANSFORMERS GAME THAT IMPLEMENTS A STRONG MELEE SYSTEM.

War For Cybertron. Well what can I say about this except, this game totally blew me away. I'm going to start with the Campaign Mode this offers two unique stories and levels. I like Decepticon side because, I like being the bad guy trying to takeover, or you can be the usual good guy (Autobots) trying to save everything. But you don't have to be good or bad on your own, you can team up with 2 friends online and be good or bad together and destroy some really cool bosses. It takes place on their home planet Cybertron (a stunning mechanical-futuristic place) of course and the best part about it you're no longer big bulky semi-trucks, camaros and normal earth vehicles Autos and Decepts are Cybertronian vehicles which are the same as earth's except they look way better, cooler, meaner and tougher. Now for the best part of the game Multi-Player, this offers a variety of modes Escalation- constant groups of robots attack until the players are defeated, Free-for-All- is every man for himself, and my favorite Deathmatch-is just like with other shooters two teams go head-to-head to get the most kills. The others are Power Struggle, Code of Power, Countdown to Extinction and Conquest, I won't spoil these for you but I think you'll enjoy them. The character customizing is absolutely awesome, players must make their own Transformer based on the 4 classes they desire to play, which determines their vehicle form Scout (car), Scientist (jet), Leader (truck), and Soldier (tank) each vehicle functions the same except Scientists can fly. Each allows you two weapons, two abilities, and three upgrades each class has their own set of kill streak rewards, available weapons, and abilities and last but not least you choose the color scheme of your robot. Now for my review GAMEPLAY 5stars controls are great, very engaging and fast paced not for casual gamers, STORYLINE 5stars finally we get the Autos and Decepts history, GRAPHICS 5stars it sounds and looks great, MULTIPLAYER 5stars. Transformers: War for Cybertron 5stars it's absolute genius.

I bought this game at Best Buy and got the discount for the strategy guide as well the day it came out. I have never bought a Transformers game before but played the others that came before this one (which most were dissappointing). My rationale for buying this was the good multiplayer aspect as well as the fact that my kids love Transformers. Growing up in the 80s I loved Transformers as well and this game was certified by Hasbro to be Transformers lore. Which means the back story behind G1 Transformers is the plot to this game and that reason alone is enough for any Transforems G1 fan to go out and OWN this game. That aside I am a casual gamer but love to play videogames. The multiplayer portion of this game is so much fun that it ranks up there with Team Fortress 2 or Battlefied 1942 which are my all time most fun multiplayer games. At this point I have put about 6-8 hours of gameplay into the single player mode and am about 65% complete. It says I only have gotten 15% of the trophys. All-in-all you will not be dissappointed with the purchase even if you are not a Transformers fan. Lastly, the strategy guide is only necessary for multiplayer tips and the completist or collector. It is a nice glossy art book to flip through and the single player strategies are useful but not necessarily needed. Enjoy!

This game is a well-deserved DREAM for TF fans that have been shafted by Michael Bay's "vision" of a TF Universe. Storyline is perfect for all G1 fans of the original series, and Hasbro has made it official TF History.

The Online modes are superb, and insure the continued life of tis game. After the storyline is over, you can forever live in the online world of Unreal Tournament type death matches, and "Nazi Zombie (COD) type" missions.

Overall this game is a must for G1 fans.

Any Transformers or video game fan should be able to tell you that good Transformers games are few and far between. The last one in recent memory was the PS2 game based on Transformers Armada published by Atari.

Finally, High Moon Studios and Activision have teamed up to deliever yet another quality Transformers game. WFC is a solid 3rd person shooter. Plenty of variety in missions and weapons, great graphics, and solid core gameplay. They build onto this by peppering the game with plenty of references to the Generation One series. Generation One was the original cartoon and toyline from the 80's, forget the awfulness that Michael Bay brought to the big screen. These are Transformers in their purest form, with no need for potty jokes or giant robot testicles. In addition to the stellar single player and coop gameplay, they've also done a terrific job with the mulit player gameplay as well.

Above all us, this is a great game on it's own. High Moon repeatedly stated that they attempted to make a solid gameplay experience first and foremost, they were not content to rest on the popularity of the franchise alone. Their efforts show.

this is a good game to play during the summer!

Pissed at Michael Bay? Wish for a Transformers game that does the G1 series justice? Then say no more!

Cast doubts your doubts away, because War for Cybertron is a true Transformers experience that ultimately jump starts the Robots in Disguise universe. Gameplay is solid and a lot of work went into the visual and audio details of the game. The storyline is smart and serves as an origin for many of the characters we know and love, and love to hate (I'm looking at you Starscream).

From the gears that rotate on the chassis (even while standing still) to the facial animations of each character, the graphics are superb. The most fun part is the tranformation. It becomes so seamless and the animation is great to watch. Obliterating your opponent as a sky-bound jet or a high-speed truck has never been so satisfying.

The single-player mode is your average adventure game with nothing incredibly innovative, but it is still fun and contains the aforementioned story, all while helping ease you into the control scheme. There are plenty of multiplayer modes, including Deathmatch, Conquest, and Countdown to Extinction, to name a few. My favorite has to be Escalation mode. Purely Co-Op, team up with up to three other players and prepare for wave after wave of increasingly difficult AI. An interesting feature is that when you pick up Energon from fallen enemies, you convert them into points to purchase health and ammo at stations throughout the map. If you obtain enough points, you can pool together with teammates to unlock hidden passages throughout the map that give you more room for escape, stronger weapons, etc.

Perks, weapons, and other unlockables become available as you play through matches and watch enough robot parts blow up to make R2-D2's head spin. Although you can only change the primary character model and paint job, each player can be unique enough when it comes to play style. From the powerful Soldier tanks to the strategic Scientist jets, players can take on the role of a favorite character with their own unique twist.

A few gripes: your team's AI is not the brightest mind on the game, but they're never frustrating since they never truly hinder you. Also, the frame rate falters at times, but I like to think of it as slow-motion for the game's many awesome moments.

Overall, War for Cybertron is a solid game. Fun gameplay and good controls make the game fun, and the campaign's story helps set up the globally-recognized world of the Transformers.

I had mixed feelings about this game before its release, but after doing some research I realised that this game is different from the previous Transformers games based on the movie...which is a good thing. Fans of Gears of War will really love this game. For hardcore shooter fans, some things may or may not disappoint you. Fans of the animated series will fall in love! It plays out a lot like a CG cartoon...sound quality is very good with the voiceovers being very good drawing you in even more. The graphics look like someone took Gears of War and replaced the COG and the Horde with the Autobots and Decepticons. I know, I know, the Unreal Engine has been done a million times, it does WFC a lot of good though. Although I mentioned Gears of War, keep in mind that there is no duck and cover system. At first, this sort of disappointed me in a way, but after playing it, I realized.....robots don't need cover!!! The game controls like a charm, but takes some getting used to as well. Another thing is, unfortunately sometimes (depending on how you have your controller layout) you will accidently transform when you didn't intend to do so. This can be a problem...especially when trying to navigate platforming sections. Transforming in mid-air not only looks cool, but it also can be used for strategy purposes as well. It is highly recommended that you play the Decepticons campaign first. You can however choose to play the Autobots campaign first if you like. I have not played the multiplayer yet nor have I tried the 3 player co-op so I will not comment on the MP aspect of the game in this review. This game is very fast paced with a ton of action in it so far. Again, if you are a fan of Transformers, this is the game to have..I am not sure how long the single player campaign is, but it seems to be pretty long. Most may want to wait till the price drops, but if you are really thinking of getting the game, do yourself a favor and pick it up. This review is based on the PS3 version of the game. I hope this was helpful to you.

This game is a MUST HAVE for any Transformers fan. The story is good, graphics are fantastic, and the gameplay is fairly well done. A few gripes include severely limited ammo, and a roster of only 20 characters from a franchise of over 300 characters.

That being said, when stripped of the Transformers name, it's only a mediocre shooter. The single player campaign is only about 9hrs long, and the multiplayer is fun, but no where near as in depth as Modern Warfare 2, Halo, etc.

Great start to a hopefully long-lasting franchise. Transformers 2 will ROCK.

You'll get a few chuckles from the dialog in this game. They remind me all of their G1 counterparts.

If you're someone who grew up on the 80's show and movie, don't hesitate to pick this one up.

This is easily the best Transformers game ever produced. I'm not even a fan of shooters but I loved this game. It's fast paced, fun and some scenes will just blow you away! It's not without it's flaws, it's a bit on the short side(15 hours or so of solo game play) and at times it can seem like your AI companions are just there to get in your way but, for the most part, these are minor problems easily overlooked when compared to the overall experience the game provides.
