Great game and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Tekken or fighting games in general.
This game is FANTASTIC in every aspect, providing hours of endless fun and adrenaline rushing excitement. The wake-up games, high/mid/low mixups, sidesteps/movements, the bound system, and just the general gameplay has been intricately woven to form a masterpiece. The Tekken franchise have simply delivered with each addition to its series and this is by no means an exception.
While it is true that we do not see a vast jump in terms of graphical prowess as seen in each iteration of previous Tekken games, the gameplay has by far received an enormous revamp while still keeping the familiar aspects of its previous bretheren, Tekken 5: DR. To the average, inexperienced and casual Tekkenier, such changes go by unnoticed, however, seasoned veterans of the series will discover the enormous steps forward Namco has taken to elevate the Tekken experience. While keeping its familiar arial juggles, movements, and the general game pace, it has put into addition a new systems that completely revolutionarize the series. The bound system for additional combo damage and increased wall carry, the rage system for clutch comebacks, 6 additional playable characters with vastly different martial arts style, and destructable environments that opens up new stages. Such additions is an exciting change to hardcore fans as it opens up whole new strategies and a plethora of options.
Yet, with all the exciting additions to the series, the sad truth is that the casual market, and even "professional" gaming websites, fail to see its achievements and merits. Its become rather trendy to denounce Tekken 6 as a "Tekken 5 game with -slightly- improved graphics". It is true that the Tekken franchise have come a long way since its first iteration, and while it has been known to have excellent graphics for its generation and push its consoles to the limits, such is not a key determinant factor in judging a "fighting" genre.
What's ironic is that for a fighter, Tekken 6 still offers GREAT graphics. Its character models are detailed and the environments are lush and vibrant. While not on par with recent hit releases such as Uncharted 2, Tekken 6 is in my opinion, the best in the graphical department that any fighting genre has to offer.
Admittedly, it is a fact that Tekken did not see a huge upgrade Street Fighter IV received in terms of graphics, but such expectations are unwarranted. In economics we see that the growth rate of developing countries are several times higher than that of the United States. Such logic applies here as well. The Tekken franchise was already pushing the consoles hardware to its limits (albeit, T5:DR could have ran on the PS2), and so naturally it won't see the leaps and bounds Street Fighter received.
In conclusion, the game is by far the best "Tekken" in the franchise and is a must-buy for any fans of the series. While many casual fans of the previous iterations may feel skeptical in purchasing the game, give this a whirl and try delving deep into its mechanics... you'll be in for a surprising treat.
The game is good if you like tekken series. If you don't like the tekken series don't buy it, this game is not going to change your mind. Online problems got fix and I didn't get bad lag.
I have been waiting for this game for a long time, now that it is here I couldn't wait to play it. First things first, this is one of the greatest fighting games of all time when it comes to gameplay. Now as far as the story mode it's a little different but you have to adapt to it. The graphics are great, but the music is awful, but I can look past that. All in all if your a tekken fan you will love this game.
I just bought this game today and I couldnt wait to get home to play it. What a disapointment and let down this game is.I know fighting games shouldnt be easy but when are they going to release a fighting game that isnt fake. First of all when fighting the computer, the AI characters block everything you dish out,the juggle combos are to much, you cant even fall on the ground before getting half your life taken away from a juggle combo. Most of my favorite characters are now lame, the last guy is a joke.I had to stop playing before I smashed my controller. The only good thing about this game is the graphics and sound, other than that you might as well take the $[...] and wipe with it.
I was very happy when my copy of Tekken 6 got here and more than satisfied with the game play. For the first time there is a online play, millions of customizable choices, and a online co-op senario mode. There is no lag in online mode, but the lower the connection quality, the slower the game is. Still after almost 5 years, this game has been, like I said, worth the wait.
Tekken 2 was the First game I ever owned and I liked the character stories and I've been waiting for this game for the longest time now, and I was expecting a lot, I just wanted the story's but they don't really focus on the story's the fights for the story's are short in # but the graphics are Great.
you Have to play campaign mode to unlock characters if you want to see their story
Cons:
Load time (yes this bothers me, because its long enough that there is an awkward silence if other ppl are around watching)
The subtitles are crazy small and hard to read, what are the Tekken ppl thinking? after playing 6 other Tekken games my eyes aren't what they used to be.
Pros:
looks good
story mode battles are quick
this game will keep you entertained for hours
they do a quick recap of the story starting from Tekken (but the subtitles are small and hard to read)
I was very impressive with Soul Caliber 4 and own almost all other Tekken except for #2. Well it is still awesome, but I was hoping a little more of something. If you like the Tekken fighting controls, it is still there, and it is still tight. They actually force you to play the Scenario/story mode which is pretty much Tekken Force in the past. This is the only way you can unlock characters' ending animations. Also another way of getting free custom upgrades. Arcade mode is open to all characters and so is the online match. As always the female characters are easy to pick up since they are so quick. The big wrestlers are so slow and the power damages are about the same with the quicker characters, so there is a little unbalance there.
Performance:
The characters are very impressive, but the anti-aliasing jaggy edge is there. This is one reason I knocked a star off. Soul Caliber 4 was the smoothest looking models and characters I have seen and it came out a year before this and I also got that on the PS3. (Oddly when I turn off the motion blur option it were less jaggedness, but less cool effects) The only thing I notice, the difference between the two is the background in Tekken 6 is more dynamic. Things break apart, more animation in the background. The snow, fog, sunlight and other environmental effects/ physic are cooler, compare to the plain and smooth SC4. I haven't notice any major glitches at all. The fighting is till fast.
Online:
The waiting is a tag longer compare to SC4, but I think they load everything more so I haven't experience any freezing, lagging or glitches like I did for SC4. So basically it is a better has an online performance when you are actually fighting.
Characters
I usually stick to Jin style, which Lars is a strong punching character too. I have got a hang of Bob yet, kind of power of a faster Panda and quick leg combos. Zafina is a like a hybrid of voldo and Anna W a little off balance style. Haven't touch Miguel or Leo that much yet. You can customized your characters by buying items and from the scenario mode (Tekken force), but you can't build a characters ground up like in SC4 which I thought was lacking.
Overall for Tekken fan this is a worthy buy and shows enough special effects in the graphic department over Tekken 5. The Tekken force controls and mode is much better this time around and is intergraded into the gameplay if you want to unlock something. I wished Tekken bowling, or volleyball and even Gon was somehow brought back but didn't.
Combines tekken 5 with amazing graphics! This game is much updated from tekken 5. The story is hard to understand this time and there are some new characters. But all the originals are back including Armor King! So a perfect purchase for original tekken fans or fighting fans in general!
The game is the 6th in a longstanding series of fighting genre video games. Tekken is well known for its scenery and large variety of fighters. This game fixes on the fighting dynamics from previous Tekken games and is no longer extremely easy to be "cheap" while fighting as they took away most combos that make it frustrating to play the game. So to master the game a different skill set is required from different games, making this game a totally new experience. It still has the ability to entice new gamers to the genre as some characters still remain easy to use. The graphics are beautiful with background adjusting to the character's movement around the scenery (i.e snow in the floor clears when you step on it). the music is exciting and allows you to flavor the fight. It also has a story mode which allows you to dig into the Tekken storyline and do some action fighting game genre, although I still haven't explored this area of the game it shows promise. I recommend this game to everyone who likes fighting games.
I purchased this one for my nephew and he told me he loves the game.He said "thank you very much auntie".Great game.
A horrid game, poor graphics, worst controls ever on a redundant, soon dead, over rated, low sales console. Save your cash. Yes this game sucks on XBox too.
This is just the most balance fighting game you can ever play. This game is way better than the other fighting games. Is it better than Street Fighter 4?
Yes it is and a lot of people can back that up. I was number 16 on the top ranking in Scenario Campaign, I was planning to be number 1 but my Tekken 6 broke, I might have stepped on it by accident when It was lying down on the floor, so I'm gonna buy a new copy of Tekken 6, I've been so miserable without it, I love this game so much.....
All in all, Tekken 6 was a great addition to the series. The graphics may not be quite up to par with some other next gen games but compared to the last PS2 Tekken game it was a real treat to see all my favorite characters again in high definition. I personally like Tekken 6 for two major reasons. First, the customization system is very robust and set up in such a way that it will take a long time to attain every single piece of clothing and accessory. For me, that extends the life of the game because I'm always unlocking something new. Second, Tekken 6 is a great fighter to entertain with because some pretty amazing fights came come from pure button mashing from friends and family who have never played before. Not to say that it can't be mastered, Tekken games usually have a high learning curve that requires practice to perfect. Overall I recommend this game to anyone who likes fighters and all fans of Tekken 6. Especially for the low price it can be bought for here at Amazon.com, its a steal.
I have been a fan of Tekken games as far back as I can remember. I used to go to the arcade to play the original during college. One quarter would last me and afternoon of gaming. You beat everyone you win a free game... This just adds to the overall quality. Not only do you have the classic arcade VS style fights, but now you have a campaign to play as well. It follows a story line but is not tacky whatsoever. I still prefer the classic arcade style games!
