First of I would like to say I have bought 2 controllers from this manufacturer, One was the controller that just has rumble and the other one was this one with the six-axis added. I love the one with just rumble and thought that sending an extra 5 bucks on six-axis would be a good idea. When I first got this controller it looked awesome and even the usb connector was in desert camo, then I plugged it in and tried to use the d-pad and the down direction has a soft spot and will most likely not work if u use it. so I'm ok with that but also the up on the left stick has a tiny soft spot but it doesn't happen like the d-pad does. so know I just use the left stick to do things and not the d-pad. If I were you I would buy their controller titled, PS3 Shadow Wireless Controller with Rumble, I believe it has a better fell and functionality to it. The only plus that the six-axis one has is the cool paint job, but I can live without it. : )
I purchase this controller for my fiance; he's a soldier in the army. I'm a supportive army spouse and try to search for things relative to his branch. We needed an extra contoller for our new PS3-slim and I discovered this one on amazon (perfect). Besides that the controller has an excellent no slip-grip to it and plays for hours without recharging. It's just the right fit for his hands. He loved it and now that he's off of R & R and back to deployment I'm keeping it warm for him (even though he told me to wrap it up and don't let anyone touch it). I like it better then my own controller. It has that digital camo sexy appeal to me. What can I say I love anything in uniform.
This is the best PS3 controller on the market. It is rock solid construction. Nice weight(unlike the six axis) and perfect analog placements. If you play FPS games on the PS3 this is the controller for you. Ive never had a drop in signal like the first reviewer but that could be due to other signals that effect the 2.4 band in his home and not mine(microwave, cordless phones ext). And the rumble on this thing is strong. Its almost like a wired controller. Strong motors, great motion controls and perfect analog placements. Now I will say im use to the 360 controller and wanted a similar feeling set up for my PS3. This fits the bill perfectly.
I wanted a PS3 because it plays the Blu-Ray movies that are winning the HD movie battle, but the down fall was the controllers. I have large hands and the smaller PS controllers jam my thumbs and make it uncomfortable to play. I found these controllers that are designed like an X Box controller and was in heaven! This controller has ever function that a PS3 Dual Shock 3 has with a better design. The rubber grips and larger design make it the best controller I have ever used for any system! I have large hands and arthrits in my hands at a young age, and I can play for hours with no discomfort. If you like the X Box controller you will love this controller so you can have the best controller and the best system. No problem at all with distance. I was in the kitchen 30 ft away and still playing. Just was a little hard to see the TV.
I honestly have no idea what's up w/ Michael D. Wynne's review, but I decided to ignore it and bought this controller anyway, and I'm glad I did. I've been an Xbox guy up until I decided that I was sick and tired of dealing with the most poorly made piece of electronic junk ever. I switched to PS3 out of sheer disgust, and of course my biggest ccomplaint was the anachronistic controller that Sony has not significantly redesigned in like over 15 years. I bought this controller b/c it is ergonomically much more like the Xbox controller. It has worked flawlessly. It has good weight and seems well made. And it holds a charge well. I would definitely recommend it.
If you like the Xbox layout buy this right now. I have had it for 6 months and wont use any other controller. Best ps3 controller for me.
After playing on the xbox 360 for so long and having muscle memory and just being more comfortable with the controller, I have not liked using the PS3 controller at all. To me it is to small, too lite, the L2, R2 are not curved, and the add on triggers did not help much, I ran across this controller, I was worried because we all know that 3rd party controllers are usually crap. Well, not this one, It works perfectly, it had a little more weight, nice grips on the wings, and no lag whatsoever. Each button feels great and they respond as any serious gamer expects. Now, the only downside, is it is not bluetooth so their is a USB dongle, so you can't turn the system on and off with the controller, but that is the only thing that is negative. I don't normally write reviews, but for this product I wanted you to know that I hesitated too and I am glad I bought it. I got mine during the black friday sale and I had a credit from a pre-order so I got it for 19$. But I will definitely buy a second one, and don't mind paying full price, its just that good. This controller solves the problem for all 360 users crossing over to become dual console owners.
Works well but for some reason smells like wet cigarette butts. Smells like it brand new out of the package. Weird. It's a good buy though.
Purchased approx. 8 months ago . Play about 40-50 hrs a week of COD 4. I have had no issues with the controller and will buy another when this one wears out, since I prefer the XBOX stick layout.
I haven't had the connection issues that others have reported, but I haven't used the controller much. I bought it for use with Modern Warfare 2, because I'm a multi-console owner and I like the 360 controller design better, but I prefer PS3.
This controller does give the 360 controller feel for PS3. However, and this is critical for me, there are significant dead-zones on the control sticks. They don't feel cheap like most 3rd-party accessories, but switching between this controller and a Sony DS3 is like night and day as far as sensitivity goes. If you're not the type that likes to snipe or take distance shots in shooters you'll probably be ok, but if you need the ability to make small and precise movements, you're out of luck.
I wanted to love it, but like all 3rd party controllers I've tried they just haven't been able to get the joysticks right.
Also, a tip for anyone that wants to use this for Modern Warfare 2, switch the buttons to one of the "Flipped" options to make the controls identical to the 360 version (aka the triggers are the aim and fire buttons). It makes the controller much more comfortable to use.
SUMMARY: Better than most 3rd-party controllers and the best option for 360 owners converting to PS3, but for precision you still can't beat a Sony DS3. PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller
I bought this controller because if the xbox style layout, and its definitely more comfortable than the original ps3 controller. However I play a lot of CoD and after playing one game I instantly knew this controller wasn't gonna work for me. The sticks just aren't smooth enough for playing a first person shooter the way I do. Definitely felt the dead zones as mentioned by other reviewers. Boxed it up and sent it back the same day.
Well... i got this controller 2 weeks ago.....
before i use it my first impression was good.... nice touch... good design....
everything was fine....
i plug it, it worked nicely....
BUT after i played MW2 with it.....
i knew that this controller was designed for any game other then MW2 or FPS.....
it rumbles & have sixaxis... but it lacks the must important thing on FPS.... the good analog stick....
the analog HAS A FREAKING DEAD ZONE.... don't believe anybody said otherwise...
i used it for many games... ( MW2 , Infamous ,UC2, etc... ) the same thing... when u turn the analog stick to right it moves without problems.. but when u move it to left...@@ there is a big big dead zone...
i do not recommend it...
i use now my old Logitech controller... which by the way the best analog stick i ever used for FPS...
This is a terrible product. It cannot stay connected to your PS3, dropping out randomly and constantly as you play even after hitting the reset button on it as the instructions advise. The controls are very sluggish when it does run, not good for smooth first person shooter type control. Overall this was a huge disappointment, arrived, played for 30, filled out return forms and boxed it back up. You think thee people would test this stuff before they sell it. Buyer beware.
