I was skeptical before purchasing this item, but decided to take a chance after reading the reviews on the seller. I bought the gift for my boyfriends birthday, and can say he has played it every day since getting it. I love the look he has on his face, and am very pleased that you help me put the look on his face. The product arrived on time and in new condition.. I will definitely purchase from this seller again.

Its great not having to pay taxes or shipping for expensive items like PS3. I bought this console after I trashed my xbox360. Never had any problem with this at all!

The new slim PS3 120 has a nice interface, easy to use menus. Very reliable and quiet. Auto adjusts for the graphics (1080i or 1080p or 720i or 720p ....). It has capabilities to browse internet, connect keyboard and mouse, connect printer, copy and paste random files (audio, video) onto the hard drive. Unlike Xbox360, PS3 has no strings attached, it's your gaming system use it as you like, use the 120 or 250 GB Hard drive for whatever you want. The slim PS3 background graphic is simply amazing and the color adjustments make it even more fun. Controller is a little smaller than Xbox360 controller but I'm getting used to it. Definitely buy the PS3 remote for watching movies, this is the best blue ray player on the market.

This is the best gift that my parents have ever given me. They do not approve of computer games since I am an athlete and they do want me to be sitting for hours in front of the television. Anyway, they finally gave in and I am super happy!

I'm not a big gamer, but the PS3 is a lot of fun. (Try to borrow games from friends. More economical.) The upconvert DVD is decent, the BluRay is gorgeous. But for me, the HUGE selling point was wirelessly streaming Netflix. The quality of the picture is great, and my wife and I are having a blast perusing the titles on Netflix - things we'd probably never rent otherwise, but are fine because it's so easy and free.

So - Gaming: Awesome. Movies: Awesome. Streaming media: Awesome.

Wondering when games will be available by streaming media, too?

Me, being a formal xbox 360 fan was very hesitant to buy a PS3. I only did so, because i constantly had problems such as disc scratching, freezing, " Unreadable disc" error, and it finally came to the red ring of death. I can assure you that the playstation will suit all your needs with multimedia home theater system, or for you hardcore gamers out there, deliver you stunning graphics and a massive hard drive space. Sony is releasing A 250 gb hardrive console in November, for only 40 or so more than the current 120 GB. So dont pass this console up, It even lets you have a little internet browser which i was never aware of and works spectacular. Flash Player is already installed so you can watch videos on other sites than just youtube. Dont Miss out!

I'm lucky enough to have a WII, Xbox 360 and a PS3 so I can be completely objective in reviewing all three.... All three have their own benefits, but if you're buying your first console, here's a quick review with my feedback.

WII - more of a novelty system. Great for the casual gamer or kids. WII Sports and Mario Kart are my favorites and my kids (6 & 8) love it. It's also a great system when we have company over because there's virtually no learning curve - simply make the motion and you're a pro!

Xbox 360 - more of a system for hardcore gamers. There's a few exclusive games that might be of interest (Halo, Mass Effect, Gears of War), but they seem to be getting fewer as most Xbox titles can now be found on the PS3. Great online support with Xbox Live. Out of the box the Xbox 360 is noticeably lacking in hardware to a PS3 - the Xbox is missing wifi, rechargeable controllers (the Xbox controller comes with 2 AA batteries and you can buy rechargeable controller batteries separately), blu ray, need to pay for Xbox Live (PSN is free). I bought it for the exclusive games and online gaming. Overall, a strong system, although not as good a value as the PS3 in my opinion.

PS3 - In my opinion the clear cut winner (please keep in mind I have all three and am not being a "fanboy"). Out of the box it has everything the Xbox 360 is missing which is more bang for the buck. Surprisingly, I think the PS3 is also tipping the scales at exclusive content. My favorites are Killzone (great online), Uncharted, and Demon's Souls. Other hot titles include Resistance, Little Big Planet, MLB The Show and just released Heavy Rain. In my opinion the graphics, operating system, controls and functionality are better with the PS3. Wifi, Blu Ray, rechargeable controller, and free Playstation Network (PSN) just is the icing on the cake.

The WII and Xbox are both nice systems, but if you're only buying one - start with the PS3, you won't be disappointed!

Just wanted to write a short review to answer a couple questions I had which I could not find in many other reviews. I have a launch PS3. In comparison the slim is much quieter. I had to buy a standalone blu-ray player as the noise from my original PS3 was so loud I could not hear dialog during quieter passages. There is no such issue with the slim. The slim fan does not seem to kick into a second or third gear. Also, I was interested in the wireless strength. In a certain location in my house the launch PS3 would get 30% signal strength at best. My slim gets 45% in those locations and has not dropped a connection yet. Additionally, Sony allows me to download to my slim for free the PSN games I had purchased for my launch system. Overall, I am very happy with this unit.

Playstation 3 started as a HUGE and a power waster console, so when i looked at playstation 3 in the past, i just can't imagine myself having it in my house, but now, Sony scored one by making it slimmer and as much as i know, quieter. This console is not blu-ray exclusive, it also reads DVD and CD-ROM. The only things i complain about playstation 3 slim is the lack of retrocompatibility with Playstation 2 games, and no included Ethernet cable, but anyway those are minor things that a new gamer won't notice. I strongly recommend to get an HDMI cable with the playstation 3, because the quality of image is amazing with an HDMI cable, you can find good quality HDMI cables under 5$ here at amazon.

You'll have to pardon me if I gush, but this was a major upgrade from both my previous game system and previous DVD player. We finally made the leap to our first HDTV, a Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color, and after watching a few DVDs on our old player it became obvious that getting a real Blu-ray player was an absolute necessity.

I initially purchased a Samsung BD-P1600 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player because it was built to communicate directly with our TV. The Samsung Blu-ray player was a significant leap over our old DVD player, but only when playing BDs - on DVDs it left a lot to be desired.

My wife bought into the concept of getting the PS3 because of the high praise it gets as a BD player. All of the earlier concerns about noise from the fan, etc. seem to have been resolved. As a BD/DVD player, the thing is aweseome. I had to do some tweaking of the settings to get it to send an HDMI signal to the TV and a digital audio signal to the amp (next on the list of things to upgrade), and I get the feeling that I'm only using about 15% of the available functionality - but that functionality is, again, awesome.

Some key pros:

- The PS3 has visibly better upscaling on DVDs than the Samsung.

- Streaming Netflix over the PS3 is easy-as-pie. Unfortunate that it requires an extra BD from Netflix, and hopefully Sony will come up with a firmware update sooner than later. But for the time being it is pretty painless to simply put the BD in (it's also an easier way to get to that part of the menu for my wife).

- Setting the PS3 to communicate with my TV was easy. Not automatic, but easy.

- Games look incredible in full HD. Ridiculous. My wife walked in while I was playing Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time and asked me what movie I was watching. I've only logged about 6 hours of game time, so I don't have much experience with the PS3 to draw from. In that 6 hours I've managed to get characters stuck twice, eliminating my hopes for "perfect" gameplay, but I'm still blown away.

- Easy to connect to wireless network. It only took a few minutes to get the PS3 hooked up to our wireless network, even though we have our connection password protected.

Some key cons:

- Sony doesn't include detailed instructions on how to use the controller as a BD remote. As a lifelong gamer I was able to fake the funk through most of it, but I was frustrated by my lack of control over BD playback. I broke down and spent the $20 on the Sony PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Remote and it made a world of difference.

- When set to interface with the TV it is impossible to turn the PS3 on without forcing the TV to switch over to that input. And since it isn't a Samsung product, when I power the PS3 down the TV doesn't automatically switch back to the satellite input. Not Sony's fault, obviously, but it did that with the Samsung BD player.

- Slow load time of games. Getting a game started is a 2-minute endeavor, which isn't a long time when you're riding a bus but is an eternity when you don't get much time to game in the day.

- Internet browsing: you can browse the Internet via the PS3, but without a wireless keyboard it is challenging, and surfing the web on my TV just gives me bad flashbacks to WebTV of the late 90's.

Overall, we absolutely *love* the PS3. Now that we have the basics covered I'm starting to branch out and research all of the machine's capabilities. But the thing it does really well, that got it in the door of our house, is play Blu-ray discs and DVDs.

This thing is so cool, I may not even plug it in. I'm just going to place it on top of my AV cabinet and stare at it in awe for a few days.

I am not very impressed with the "Almighty PS3." sony needs to fix their laggy PSN. Just because its free doesnt mean it has to be crap.

I REALLY DO have a ps3 slim and FIRST reviewed it badly to spite the ps3 fanboys.

BUT NOW THE NEW 3.0 UPDATE HAS CAUSED MY SYSTEM TO KEEP FREEZING WHILE PLAYING UNCHARTED, WHICH IS A SONY FIRST PARTY GAME.

SONY HAVE JUSTIFIED MY 1 STAR REVIEW BY RELEASING THEIR CRAPPY UPDATE.

iF YOU BUY A NEW PS3, HOLD OFF ON THE UPDATE UNTILL 3.01 OR WHATEVER THE NEW ONE WILL BE. It may not affect your game but hold off on the 3.0 update if you want to play uncharted(which you should as it is great when I can get it to work).
