I recently purchased the Playstation 3 System and it is so much fun. I love how you dont need batteries for the remotes, I did not know that prior to purchasing this. Also to go online there is no charge, which is great. This is really a great video game system, I highly recommend this sytem, the games for it are great. There are lots of games that are made just for the Playstation 3 System. The fact that you can play Blu-ray on this is a great feature in it self to have. The quality of this system is excellent. If your looking for a new video game sytem, look no more and purchase Playstation 3, you wont regret it.

It's real simple folks. The PS3 is hands down the best console on the market. It has a remarkably simple setup, very elegant in it's hardware/software design and has shimmering 1080p graphics at a liquid 60fps.

The wireless network is built in, and takes seconds to set up and get online. The Playstation Network (PSN) is free to use for access to the PSN store and various other features. My wife and I have already rented a couple of movies from the PSN, and purchased a few smaller games via the network. The PS3 is also Netflix ready for instant streaming of movies and TV shows.

I also use my Windows7 machine as a media server, so I can pull pictures/music/videos directly to our HDTV. How convenient!! Yes, this box really "ONLY DOES EVERYTHING!"

And keep this in mind.. the PS3 contains a BluRay player that will be fully capable of 3D 1080p games Summer 2010, and 3D 1080p movies Fall 2010 via a free firmware upgrade. Note that in order to play digital 3D games/movies, you will need to have the PS3 connected via HDMI to one of the new Sony 3D HDTV's coming out Summer 2010. The PS3 is a true specced out 3D BluRay device, and in fact is Sony's BluRay 3D standard.

Also, look carefully at the game selection for the PS3 as well, and you'll see that the PS3 has the finest selection of top shelf games available on any console. I'd recommend "UNCHARTED 1 and UNCHARTED 2" as showcase games for the PS3.

The PS3 is a FIVE STAR console. *****

Recommended purchase for those in the market.

I had to make a tough choice between the two; because no way was I buying both. The problem for me was that a)they both shared tons of good games, yet a few CHOICE games like HALO 3, and GOD OF WAR 3 and many many more. B) Xbox was a bit cheaper, yet has paid online stuff, while PS3 is a hundred bucks more and no games included, but has MORE features and free Online Play (for now). All my friends had XBOX 360, and play online so that sucks. PS3 was really hard to find in the stores, but when I decided to get PS3, I did find the last one in my area at a Best Buys. In the end, I like getting two major things in one: BlueRay and the Gaming system of my dreams. I hooked it up and bought two games (both reviewed on amazon! so check it out!) and was gaming for HOURS! I do not regret my choice, as there are more games I could ever play! Oh, and I love the price cuts on the older games, such as Bioshock for 19 bucks! and NBA 2K10 for Thirty Bucks even! GOOD quality games that I absolutely love. The PS3 is NOT overrated, it is underrated. It is so amazing to watch Bluerays on one of the best Blueray players I have seen (comparing it to a couple of my friends Blueray players) All my friend had problems playing Avatar, but My new player didn't need any new drivers! If I did, no problem, and no money cause it's all free online. And the BlueRay looks absolutely FANTASTIC on HD! I've never seen such colors!

I'm going to try to hide my disgruntled ex-Xbox360 angst as I write this. If you are in the same boat that I was, you own a 360, it broke, and you are considering switching to the PS3 (especially with the price drop), this review is for you.

Side by side, the PS3 and the 360 have many similarities. Graphically, they are close, although I think that the Sony edges out the 360 by a little. Clarity and rendering seems smoother and more flawless. Sound is improved, but the truth is, my 360 only had component outputs (no HDMI) and the PS3 is running straight HDMI signal. So, perhaps its unfair, but I didnt have the choice with the Xbox (it was a first gen 360, I realize its an option now).

Game catalogs both have their high points. No one can deny Gears of War, but I am seeing a trend that the really good games are almost always multiplatform now, and the Sony has some that I can't deny are some of the best I've seen. Upcoming PS3-only games like Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 I feel will seal the deal for me. All my other favorites are available on both systems (GTA, Saints Row 2, Mercs 2, Assassins Creed, Bioshock), so there's really no loser there.

Hardware-wise, the PS3 is the strong, silent type. I mean, its like a Lexus to a Fast-and-Furious exhaust modified Civic as far as noise. My 360 was unbelievably loud, and frankly distracted gameplay because of it. Subtle, ambient surround-sound noises are heard easily with the Sony. Also, it puts off little to no heat. I'm not kidding in any way, my 360 used to raise the temp of my "game room" about 5 degrees or more, it was crazy.

I wont get into longevity and long-term failure rates on both systems. The data is out there, and the PS3 has a much higher success rate in this category. Money doesnt grow on trees, and I really feel that I should only have to buy one console per generation of a system. If I could do it all over again, I would've gone with the PS3 from the start.

Now, I dont online-game, so if thats your thing, then you may take my advice with a grain of salt. If you are like me and pretty much solo or co-op play on-site, then you won't miss "Live".

I'm loving the specs, I'm loving the quietness, and I'm loving the Blu-ray player. I can't recommend the Playstation 3 enough.

We currently own a ps3 80 g, a x360 pro, a x360 elite, 2 wii consoles and each of us has our own nintendo ds lit (thats 7 of them)....everyone here has thier own prefence to what they like but we all agree that the PS3 slim is awesome!!...We are one by one replacing each DVD player with a blu ray player. Recently my son graduated from boot camp and his gift from us was to be a blu ray player for his home......we were looking at an average cost of approx $300.Then Sony released the ps3 slim.....ps3s are known to be the best blu ray players on the market.....so how could I NOT BUY THIS???? I couldn't !!! from the position of a blu ray player alone, this item stands out..then you get the bonus of the awesome features and upgrades on this product that make this item stand out!! I plan on purchsing more of these as for it is cheaper for me to outfit each bedroom with a PS3 than it is to buy a blu ray player alone!! We already have extra controllers and own most of the games on the market so except for the additonal cost of a HDMI cable (which we would buy for a blu ray player anyways) and the remote..sold at sears on line for $20...there really isnt any additonal cost.....We even plan on bringing grandma and grandpa up to speed this Christmas.....they are interested in a blu ray player so we will get them this PS3 and not only will they have the best blu ray on the market, but they will also be "the cool grandparents" cuz the grandkids can have a blast playing thier favorite games over at gramma and grandpa's house !!! HOW COULD ANYONE NOT BUY THIS?????? This item is also and the price is even better!!! Go get one...or 2 or 3 or more (like me) today!!!

The PS3 120GB slim was a gift from my GF <3. I was perfectly happy with PS2 slim even after the PS3 was released. Although I like my video games as much as the next millennial male, I don't feel compelled to hop on the next new platform as soon as its released. But I'm also not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I hooked it right up to my Samsung LCD via HDMI. The sparkly Sony opening screen brought a tear to my eye, it looked so good. I was also gifted March of the Penguins and Mini Ninjas! Blu-Ray looks and sounds SOO good. The game was cute and fun and ran without a hitch. Controls were smooth and the loading times were pronouncedly shorter than the PS2's.

This gaming console single handedly awoke my home-theater to its full potential. It's hard to go back to PS2. I still play titles like Guitar Hero, DDR, and GT4 on the PS2, and of course a dozen or so Wii games, but it's hard to look at those after being spoiled by the visual revelation that is the PS3.

Coupled with the right TV and sound system, the PS3 will change they way you view home-entertainment.

I've owned the original 60gb PS3 for nearly 3 years now. Thanks to frequent updates, that unit still serves me well. If I'm not playing games, then I'm watching movies. I use it everyday in my office. I just bought a new HDTV for our living room. As everyone knows by now, if you own an HDTV you almost have to buy a blu-ray player. So with the PS3 priced so right and sporting a 120gb HDD why would I look elsewhere? The size and weight are much less than my other model and it runs super quiet so far.

The design is a bit understated (I don't think it looks as nice as the original), it only sports 2 USB ports in stead of 4, and lacks the built-in card reader of the 60gb too, but I doubt many people will miss those features.

If you can afford the extra hundred or so dollars over other blu-ray players then by all means get a PS3.

I've been an Xbox fan for years now. I purchased this product because I had been through terrible ordeals with the xbox 360, I purchased 4 of them in the last 5 years and they all had to be sent out to get fixed... This system is perfect, it may not have the blockbuster xbox titles but it has the blue-ray player, playstation home, and dynamic themes. You can also transfer music and movies from any usb device to the PS3, xbox only lets you rip from cd's. It's a total entertainment center also has a web browser too... Excellent purchase and very under rated...

In mho this is the system to get for so many reasons. I have played mine at least 5 times a week since I got it with no issues. Cant recommend it highly enough.

I just got my PS3 Slim today and was surprised while playing around with the remote with the DVD in that it quickly brings up a menu if you press the Green Triangle (X is for select) and that you can toggle through:

Pop-Up Menu

Top Menu

Return

Go To

Angle Options

Audio Options

Subtitle Options

Subtitle Style Options

Volume Control

AV Settings

Time Options

Display

AND

Previous, Next [Chapter], Fast Reverse, Fast Forward, Play/Start, Pause, Stop, Instant Replay, Instant Advance, Slow (Back), Slow (Forward), Frame Reverse and Frame Advance.

You can enter the command (even the freeze frame) and then hit the Green Triangle button again to make the menu disappear. The Red Circle gives you the option to quit playback, and the Pink Square produces the Disc Menu/Set Up/Scene Locator/Special Features option.

R1 (upper right button) and L1 go to next scene or last scene. R2 and L2 toggle between different fast forward/reverse speeds.

That's not everything, but it's enough. I was going to buy the remote (I have a Bravia, but my Sony remote model does not detect a sync'd device even though I'm connected to the tv by HDMI).

So aside from the fantastic picture during DVD playback, I don't see a reason now to buy the remote unless I want another one lying around.

I love games. I have had every console in the 80's and early 90's. Then I got into the computer games big time. I never messed with the Xbox or playstation because I'm old and I'm use to the computer controls. This week my daughter brought over a playstation 3 and I was blown away. The blue ray is great as everyone knows.(This should be bought just for that.) I have a man's room - 61" LED DLP TV, Energy speakers, Onkyo reciever 7.1, and HD & Blue-ray players. Now with the playstation 3 hooked up I'm hooked. (My lovely wife has ordered me the Playstaion 3 250gig for Xmas.) I am getting use to the controls which is very different. I am playing call of duty and struggling but slowly getting the hang of it. (What's a good learning game?)

Last night I put in the Netflix Disk and in a few minutes I was watching a Netflix movie on my TV. The picture wasn't blue-ray but it was good enough. The sound was good and my wireless network handled it very well. I was expecting poor quality movie viewing and slow load up. I was wrong. This machine seems to do everything. On my next day off I'm going to explore what else it can do.

I have to say, I have not been a fan of Sony products for a long time. When the Playstation 3 was realeased I was shocked by the price, size, and poor library of games for the unit. So, needless to say, I am not one that ever thought I would be buying this system. I am SO glad I did.

It has worked great (time will still tell) and it connects well to the internet. I love the new look, very sleek and fits well into our entertainment center. The Blu-Ray player also works very well. Also, who can forget the price?

The few complaints I have are all about the network fetures. It is all things that are done on Xbox Live already. It would be nice if content could be downloaded with the system off, as well as with charging the controller.

Other than those couple of things, I am very happy with Console.

This is way better than the other ps3's. It is a lot cheaper. It has a better hard drive and it looks a lot nicer. It is smaller and lighter. It also kept all the other features of the ps3 except for the on and eject buttons which doesn't affect anything. The controllers are still great(dual-shock 3's). It has great games and it processes games quicker. This is the system you want it is fast, reliable, and looks good. Buy it and you won't be dissapointed.
