It can't get any better than this. MLB 10 the show is the best baseball game out yet. If you love Baseball this is a must have.

bought this game thinking it would fill alot of the voids 09 had. but its the same thing with the addition to the home run derby. (which is fun, but gets old fast)

could have used alot of additions to *road to the show* but its no different.

it says you can change the length of the game, but anyway i try, its always 9 innings (which i cant stand to play a full 9) especially during a full 160+ game franchise.

its better than MLB2K10 But if you have 09, dont waste your money.

There probably hasn't been a series that has touch upon the accuracy, difficult and feel of professional baseball quite like the MLB XX The Show series. Rather than giving gamers an arcade type of baseball games (think 30 - 19 run games, 6 HRs for a single hitter, etc.), MLB XX The Show concentrates on what the game is truly about; the strategy. MLB 10 certain did not let its fans down.

Graphics

Visually, this is the best looking game around. The faces are accurate, the stances are plentiful, and the stadiums haven't looked better. Those playing on great HD screens will get to notice the glare off the helmets on night games, the enhanced details of the fans going after a foul ball in their section, and some of the emotion of their success or failures (it's not great, but it's better than the stoic faces found in most of the earlier games - think the MVP XX series from EA). It's not unbelievable detailed - Manny Ramirez's dreadlocks look more like burnt breadsticks than actual hair - but it's better than it's 2K Sports rivals

Gameplay

This isn't your hacking away type of game. Not even close. This is baseball at it's finest. The pitcher will not give you fastballs down the plate for your first pitch every single time. You can't fool the batter with a curveball in the dirt every single time. It's all about randomizing your pitches, and expecting different locations every time. Example: On the first couple of games in "Road To The Show", the CPU pitchers would throw strikes away from the plate, but in the strike zone. Once I caught on and crushed the ball for singles and extra bases, the CPU started throwing inside. Once I got comfortable to that, the CPU started to mix with pitches outside of the strike zone. You'll find yourself going after pitches and getting mad at yourself, but you'll learn not to chase every single pitch (or at least, you should learn not to).

I will give this: if you were used to timing in MLB 09, you'll need some time getting readjusted. The stopping points for pitchers depends on the experience and skill of the pitcher. Even then, the stopping point will be delayed a bit. A pitcher like Roy Halladay will have a near pinpoint delay, while a AA pitcher might have a large split second delay. Same goes to batting. Getting a squared up shot it much harder this time around, but again, it's all dependent on the skill of the batter.

Sounds

Good, but could be better. The sounds coming off the bat is great. Some of the others sometimes seem to be drowned out, or just plain wrong. As for the stadium crowd, you can again set up custom chants and jeers. New this year are team chants, targeting the team, rather than just the batter themselves (this include walkoff and game loss / win music. Yank fans can play the two different versions of "New York, New York", and Dodger fans can play "I love LA").

Extras

- I haven't tried trading players yet, so I can't comment.

- This year, Sony has offered your way to buy cheats for your player / team. $0.99 buys you 1000 extra points in Road To The Show, or $20 million cash in Franchise. For people who don't have patience and don't have the time to be strategic (or want to have a laugher and give the Oakland A's a Yankee budget), this is great for a little extra change. You can buy in multiple times, as you see fit. Purist won't like it, but it's not force upon you. It's there ... just in case.

- Practice mode is very similar to the MVP series now. There are practices for pitchers (knockdown, which is more like target practice for pitchers, or a simulated game), fielders (fielding practice), baserunners (stealing off pitchers), and batters (the usual BP).

- Yes, there are glitches in this game, though not as bad as 2K's glitches. Some are innocent (like a submariner pitcher throwing BP, only to hit the protective screen time and time again), and some are pretty game changing (the computer not recognizing the ball was thrown out of play). These glitches are rare, but exists nonetheless.

Overall

In the overall sense, the changes are mostly cosmetic. The main gameplay engine has been unchanged. Then again, why dramatically change the most accurate gameplay engine video game baseball has ever seen?

For those who are true hardcore baseball fanatics, MLB 10 The Show will be something they will be stuck on through the entire season. The gameplay is tough and challenging, but fun to figure out. The graphics have never looked better, and the extras allows even the rookie players to take in the game better.

For those who aren't that big of a baseball fan, that wants a "swing at every pitch" type of game, or just doesn't have the patience to go through a game of thinking and strategy, much less an entire season, it's best to try MLB 2K10, or wait for The Biggs. Like regular baseball, it's time consuming in the short and long run.

I've only been playing this game for 6 or 8 hours, but I am absolutely blown away.

My initial impression is that this is the single best sports game I have ever played, and I've played a lot of them. The graphics are the best in any sports game to date. It makes the latest Maddens look like PS1 throw away titles. I'll update this review when I have more to say, but so far: mind blowing.

(This goes to show what some competition can do for a sports franchise. MLB 10 and MLB 2K10 are both at the top of their game. Then there's Madden (the lone NFL licensee) which has turned into an absolute joke. NFL, take note. Competition breeds much, much, much better products.)

I will come back and write a more in-depth review of this game once I have established the newer dynamics of MLB 2010: The Show. I will say this, the pitching aspect of this game is virtually the same as last year. The challenge comes on the offensive side. They have definitely made hitting more of an artform on this year's game as opposed to last year's version. Basically what I have noticed is you have to absolutely square a ball up to make solid contact. On last year's this was critical as well, but in this year's version there is no way you can pull a ball on the outside corner of the plate and expect to get a base knock unless the pitcher just throws you a floater. So far, I have played 4 games, and have yet to win playing on the Legend mode on both the hitting and pitching side of the ball. Like I said, you will not notice a great deal of difference on the pitching side, but the hitting side has definitely become more of a challenge.

Another thing I am glad they have improved is the trade aspect of the game. Now, the trades are more realistic, and it is much harder to build your team. Right now my lineup for the Florida Marlins is Coghlan, Uggla, Ramirez, Delgado, Cantu, Hunter Pence, Cody Ross, and John Baker. I obtained Hunter Pence by signing Jermaine Dye in free agency and trading him to the Astros. I also signed Delgado, but I have to get into a groove hitting with him. Another neat feature is this year's version is if you are in the franchise mode and you get tired of playing your home games at your team's stadium, you can change the location of the game.

One other aspect of the game that becomes challenging on the offensive side of the ball is the angles the game throws at you once you have made contact. I don't know how many times I have already made bad baserunning decisions based on some of the angles the game has given me. It definitely makes it frustrating at times, but I think once I get use to some of these different aspects, I will enjoy this game even more. Long live MLB:The Show! :)

The Show 10 is another great game in The Show series. The sights and sounds are what you would expect to find at any of the Major League ballparks. Hitting can be a little tough at first but as you play more you will become a natural. Having the ability to fast forward in the game is another nice feature if you only want to bat or pitch. The home run derby feature is a great addition to this years game. It makes it worth the purchase by itself.

Some features that I would like to see added:

All of the uniforms in the team's history.

The ability to choose which uniform you can wear. For example, you cannot wear the Padres Alternate navy blue top at home, only on the road.

Easier baserunning controls.

Easier fielding controls.

The game does take some getting used to but even while you are getting used to them it is still a great game to play.

First of all, I do not write many reviews but after I bought my PS3, one of the first games I was loaned was The Show 10. At first, I was frustrated and thought the game was impossible. Over time (a few hours of play) you get the hang of it and the game comes more easily. I decided to give the game a chance and it was rewarding. One of the biggest things reviews do not seem to understand is that yes, this game is a challenge but if you overcome them, you will reap many rewards.

I often will play a quick game in the pros with my favorite teams and just have some quick fun but the real meat of this game is in the road to the show mode where you create a player at any position (I am a starting pitcher) and either enter the draft or choose your favorite team and are inserted into the lineup of their AA team. Over time, you will work your way up through the minor leagues and into the majors at your chosen position. At the present time, I was recently called up to the Phillies AAA team and am used as their starting pitcher. THIS is where the true value of the game comes through and you can really see how you are improving and it makes you a better player.

To put this into perspective, this is the first baseball game I have ever owned and I love it because as I said earlier, if you put the time in, it will pay off well. So if you are willing to put in some time to develop a player, this game is for you. If that's not your style, playing casual pro games is a lot of fun as well. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Finally, there is almost too much to do in this game - it is loaded with features, modes and tons of bells and whistles - in a word it is extremely AUTHENTIC.

I hope this review has been helpful and if you enjoy "The Game" you will enjoy this game so much more.

Recently purchased a ps3 when my xbox broke. There is no comparison between the Show and the mlb 2k series. The graphics are much better in the show. The gameplay is smoother. The franchise mode is deeper. Road to the show is a blast. Overall a great experience

I have played a lot of baseball "sims"... going back to the Strat-O-Matic cards and dice game (which was great). However, when MLB10 arrived yesterday, I was unprepared for the absolute BLAST that comes with playing this game! With very few exceptions, these graphical representations of their major league counterparts are right on. I don't have the reflexes anymore to play the game with total control of pitching, fielding, hitting, etc., but the Manager mode in Franchise is totally awesome! I'm sure that later on, when the 162 game season grows "tedious", I will be simulating some of my team's games, right now I am just having a ball in spring training, checking out some new faces to last year's roster and thoroughly enjoying all the managerial options in a game (some of my calls as manager have won ball games for the team... others were stupid to the nth degree, but all were FUN!). If you love baseball, you will really LOVE this game! Without flaws? No, but it is the best simulation of the game I have ever seen. It is truly "THE SHOW". Buy it, you won't regret it!

So far, so good. Loving the game. Just looks so amazing on the PS3. Fun to play, a good bit of modes to keep yourself entertained, and my personal favorite, 'Road to the Show', is a blast. You'd be silly to get 2k10 over The Show. I think MLB: The Show is THE baseball to get. You won't be disappointed.

Ive played the game for a little while now and i have a road to the show pitcher, and i have a franchise going. I am also playing on hall of fame difficulty. so thats what my review will be on.

First the graphics are top notch. i was playing at miluakes stadium for my first game and u could see the shade just go across the field a litle at a time just like in real life. i dont even have an lcd tv and i am amazed at the graphics. i have a little 19 inch old school tv. i play alot of games and these are great graphics

the controlls are simple, but you have to know how to play baseball to play this game. i started out on one of the hardest difficulties cause i played baseball my whole life and know how to play the game. if you dont know much about baseball learn the game cause this game isnt easy. ive played about 3 full games had one close game where they beat me by one in the ninth inning. and this morning i lost bye 12 because i wasnt mixing up my pitches and it seems like the computer is guessing the pitch you going to throw and if you throw it your going to pay. hitting isnt to bad, but dont expect to hit homerun after homerun its just like real life. i hit 2 homerun in the 3 full games i have played. the computer hit like 6 against me. the franchise mode is awsome you lead your team and you have goals your have to do before your contract is up. you decide what facilities you have to make your program better. my favorite team is the redsox but i alwayse play with the brewers cause i dont like playing with one of the best teams in the game.

road to the show is the same as always you play one position and only play when your position is needed, i started as a pitcher and have played in about 5 games. its the same as the real game you need to mix up your pitches or you will get rocked. you have goals you need to meet and things you need to do that will help build your players stats.

overall this game is great, your really going to need to master hitting and pitching though. dont think your going to go in there and keep the same routine going cause once you think you have the computer figured out they might have you figured out. if you enjoy baseball and like a challenge get this game, if you dont want to practice and get good at it you might not want to pick this game up because you might get spanked around.

i havnt played online yet so i dont know how it is if there is lag or not. when i do i will update this and let you know.

Probably one of the most realistic sports games I've ever played. It's actually challenging, so that keeps me wanting to play it and I don't get bored with it. AI is top notch too! Great features.

First let me say this is the best "The Show". It has only one small flaw. The commentary sometimes is way off from the actual game situations. I hit a ground ball to second and as the throw is being made I hear, "It's in the gap and he is trying for the extra base." Also, I'm playing game seven of the ALCS and then the announcer says "The winner of this series will be taking on the Yankees in the World Series." There are more, but I didn't want to waste your time. I know a little picky, but it does takes away from the overall game experience. Other than that just sit back with your hot dog, beer and enjoy.

Summary : I have been a huge fan of MLB the Show for a few years now. After playing the 2k series for quite some time, I felt that it was time to see what all of the rave is about, and at the time MLB The Show 08 was just released, I picked it up, and never looked back. The graphics, sounds, and gameplay really helps bring the entire baseball environment to life. You feel like you are in the game, and that you are the man at the mount/plate, ready to make the game winning hit/out.

Graphics: Each year there have been improvements to the graphics, and this year is no exception to that. Player models are spectacular, from their batting stance, to their mannerisms they simulate the players that we are accustomed to watching each day. From Kevin Youkilis's batting stance, to K-Rod's interesting pitching motions, to high fives to the first base coach, this game captures every detail. The baseball fields are all amazing, and really give you the sense of the "spotlight". When playing the minor league games, you are in fields that arent as flashy, arent as filled up, and overall have a "quiet" tenor to them. But once you are playing MLB games, you are taken away by the fireworks, the crowds loud chanting, and the glamor that is in the distance of center field. The dust kicked up on slides, and the dirt that stains the clothes of players, it doesn't get anymore realistic than this.

Sounds: This is one place that I have a bit of a gripe with the "Show" series. As a previous owner of Show 09, I can attest that there have been very minor differences in the commentary of Show 10. This adds a bit of negative points to the game, mainly because you almost feel like you are playing last years game. The commentary itself isn't one reason to consider the 2k series, but if commentary is something that can make or break a game for you, then this just isn't the mlb game of the year for you. Other than that, the sounds of the crowd's cheers, boos, and chants couldn't get any better. From the accustomed chants of "DER RICK JE TER" or the fun "YOUUUUUKKKKKKK" you just feel like you are sitting in the ball park eating your popcorn. The crack of the bat gives you that feel of "oh my god its a home run", and the sound of the ball fouling off into the catchers mask gives you a moment of "*gasp*, hope hes ok".

Gameplay: One of the most exciting features for me, is the inclusion of a Home Run Derby. One thing I missed about last years "Show" was the lack of a home run derby. In my opinion, one of the most fun parts about 08 was the two different home run derby modes. It made for hours of fun with friends, and really added to the replay value of the game. This year has the home run derby classic mode, where home runs are points, and everything else is an out. Its a fun time for everyone involved, but it requires you to pass the controller around as they didn't include a way to assign controllers to the players. This year also includes a refined Road to the Show. Now, you are able to play as the catcher, and call the shots. While I havn't tried this mode myself, I have heard some wonderful things about it. Another thing that will stick out in road to the show, is pitchers now have training sessions like the batters do. With two different training simulations, pitchers can train by pitching 3 inning sessions, or by hitting targets. Each simulation allows you to really boost the points of your pitching. Lastly, when starting a road to the show game, you are automatically entered in the minors, unlike previous games that had you try with the majors first. Now you must earn the call!

Overall: Overall I'd say this is the must have baseball game of the year. The threat from 2k10 is present this year as they have done a lot to try to take the throne away from "The Show", however, "The Show" takes the cake yet again with its supurb graphics, and overall gameplay. Everything feels smooth, crisp, the graphics are clean, and the gameplay is overall fun. The only gripe is the lack of new and exciting commentary, but this can be easily overlooked. If you are debating between this or 2k10 for PS3, and you haven't really spent time with "The Show" series, i suggest downloading the demo for 2k10, and maybe renting The Show 09 just to get an idea of how "The Show" plays. I chose this game, and am not even remotely dissapointed
