After Two years of struggling to get Triple A titles, the PS3 finally gets its flagship game. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. But its not Triple A at all, in fact its Quadruple A. it is one of the greatest games ever made. Hideo Kojima has reset new standards on the action/adventure/stealth genre. The last time he did this was Metal Gear Solid 1. For any Metal Gear Fan this is a dream come true.

for anyone that is new to MGS4, it is recommended to play the prior titles in the MGS universe in a time line(MGS3--->MGPO---->(MG1[not required]--->MG2[not required]--->MGS1---->MGS2) it would help you understand the storyline of this series. other than that, its easy to grab your dualshock controller and play.

i cant give away any spoilers, all i can say is i cryed at the end. Yes it was that shocking and sad at the same time. it is defently the greatest game of all time on my top 10 list with Ocarina of time in second place for me.

-the line between video game and cinematics have blurred and its ALL IN-GAME thanks to the Power of the Playstation 3 with its RSX GPU and the Cell processor. the game is near CGI quality, its thats stunning!

-For any Metal Gear Fan all your questions have been answered surrounding the story

-Sound is uncompressed, it is amazing, 5.1/7.1 digital surround sound speakers recommended

-gameplay has been perfected with a first person view setting/over the shoulder 3rd person view setting and camera can freely be moved around like MGS3:subsistance with right analog stick.

-octocamo redefines how stealth is played.

-Metal Gear Online adds more gameplay to an already spellbinding, amazing single player game by adding an addictive Multiplayer component which is not only superb, but it also add a lot of value to the Package, esecially with promised Downloadable content from Konami/Kojima Productions to add more value to this mode.

-To play MGO you not only have to have a PSN account, but you must register for a unique Konami ID. its pretty simple to apply though.

-the story of solid snake is over :`(

If you dont buy this game, then you are the reason why PS3 games werent selling well in the Past 2 years, thus you dont deserve one. :)

This is an incredible game. I am not even 25% through and I am just starting to see how amazing this game is. Customized weapons and amazing graphics (1080p supported) are outstanding. I never played a Metal Gear game but I am glad I picked this game up.

I dont understand why alot of people complain about the cut scenes, its is the last installment so they have to tie up loose endings[ which were alot] MGS4 is and was one of the best games that i have played in my life. I was so drawn into the story, and this was the first time i played an MGS game. If you are a ps3 owner, this is a must have. I personally think that this game is better than COD4[ which is my all-time favorite game]

Like it says in the title this is my FAV game on ps3 HANDS DOWN!!! but this is not because of the game play in any shape or form the game play is about 9 at best!!! what makes this game simply epic is due to the story, cut scenes, and offcourse the boss fights. Let me say this clearly for non MGS fans YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE CUT SCENES to get the story from the previous MGS games. For us fans of MGS the movies and the story is the best part.

I bought this on it's release day along with a DS3 controller. The very beginning of the game through me for a loop as there were several abstract videos played that I couldn't seem to skip. I didn't mind at all that the game had an up front installation. It was actually pretty quick. On to playing the game. I did mind that it has an install between every act and that if two people are playing it you'll constantly be re-installing the current act for that person.

It's full of story. Most of which is a bit overblown japanese oddness but it kind of grows on you. The acting is well done for a game and Snake is a very interesting character to follow. I'm the type who likes a good amount of cut scene and story. I like to relax a bit between gaming. To me the perfect amount of this was done in Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank Future: TOD. MGS4 goes well beyond the amount of cut scenes in those games and they are a bit less compelling to watch. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy them.

The game play is pretty incredible. It's easy to control snake, it's a ton of fun sneaking up on bad guys and the camo suit never gets old. There are a few short comings. Moving your gun 180 degrees in a fire fight takes awhile. It's understandable that Snake is old but it seems just a little too slow. Also it seems very easy to just shoot everyone with the tranq gun and sneak past.

So the game is not perfect, why did I give it a 5? It's because the game does so many things so well and has such a great attention to detail in so many areas it definitly deserves it. The graphics are really great but beyond that the sound is AMAZING. The camera work is one of the best I've seen in a video game. Not once did I get dizzy and only when on my belly in the dark under something is it difficult to see what you're doing.

Technically the game is one of the most impressive things I've seen in gaming. For those of you concerned, it is also a lot of fun. I personally like Uncharted better but that takes nothing away from this game given Uncharted is one of my favorite games of all time.

Metal Gear Solid 4,

i have never played any of the first ones, so this comes directly from the new one, I had no good games for my ps3 and when i heard about this i had to get it, i got the limited edition wich came with a blu ray disc film , and also a audio cd, and a awesome box, i got it at midnight and also got the limited edition guide, that was over a 100 bucks so i didnt want to be disapointed, Once the game got installed on my ps3 i nearly fainted, the graphics almost brought a tear to my eye, the attention to detail was spectacular, also the voice overs were soo real to me,

Gameplay-

its a third person, however when you go to aim your gun it goes into the resident evil 4 aiming, which i was praying for, its amazing how well this fits this game of the year, you have tons of weapons that you can all customize,

Custom-

early in the game about a hour in, you come acroos this neat Weapon dealer, you cant help but love LITTLE GREY the adorable monkey, the monkey always makes me crack up during the cut scenes, The monkey was a great touch, I have never had so much fun customizing guns ever, you can put red dot, scope, ect, its awesome and i love it cause i make the guns the way i would want to see it in a movie, when you have them in gameplay you can seee every little detail, (In 1080p) however i bet even with out high def you can see the detail,

Came home with the game hours ago and I'm currently in the second Act. I know it's considered early to post a review this early into the game, but wow is it great. The camo integration is so seamless, and it adds a new gameplay mechanic into the strategy.

I've been a big MGS fan since MGS2: Sons of Liberty, so I may be biased in favor of it, but I can certainly say I love this game.

MGS4 is a great game with hour-long cut scenes. You can pause or skip them so I don't see the big issue. Many of the weapons are customizable. Gameplay is perfect. The graphics are phenomenal.

Most of the bad reviews have no negatives about gameplay, just long cut scenes and too much dialog. Both of which you can skip.

Did I mention this game has 16 man online play, with customizable characters, and no lag.

If you have a PS3 and don't mind a challenge, this is not an "easy" game, just buy the game.
