I have never played MGS before this game. I have to say this is also the first game I've ever felt compelled to write a review about.

The game is quite stunning, you get everything you want in a game.

The voice acting is incredible.

The ending you just sit there and are like holy crap...

Since the price is so low now, if you haven't bought this game or played it, you really should. I am not just talking it up, you really are missing out if you never play it. Don't miss out!

Ive been playing video games since 1984, when I was four. This is my favorite game ever, all hands down. But be aware, this game is very very challenging, it's not for the average player. You must understand war tatics and strategy. It's a great game but it takes time, you cant access the hard level until you beat the game on normal. Metal Gear is an experience, the visual is amazing, but its the sound that makes the game for me, turn up your stereo and have fun, matter of fact im going to play it today.

This game is definitely a must have for the Metal Gear fans out there. It answers alot of unanswered questions from the other Metal Gear games. But on the other hand, if you have never played all of the other Metal Gear Solid games before, you won't understand a bit of what's going on throughout the game. Gameplay is very solid and the story is unforgettable. The replay value of the game is wonderful and it's very addictive in my opinion. So addictive that I literally beat the game 21 times. It's just that good.

Let me start of by saying that I beat this game. I'm not a troll that review's something he never owned. I really didn't mind the cutscenes. You can just skip them but I found them to be very enjoyable. I think that raiden's cutscene was the best. But other then that this game is not that great. I'm not saying that this was a bad game but it could had been better. This game is nothing amazing. But that's just me. If your a fan of metal gear solid then go ahead and buy this game. I played metal gear solid 2-4 and I didn't find 2 nor 3 to be good either. This game wasn't all that good because the gameplay is to short, if your a pro in metal gear solid your going to find this game way to easy, etc. So in my opinion this was a okay game.

I suppose it's obvious I am not a big fan of the series, considering how long I waited to purchase this game. But I figure anyone sitting on the fence at this point is pretty much like me, so this review is for you. MGS4 is simultaneously the most amazing and underwhelming game I have played on the PS3. It paradoxically sucks and rules, but let's go beyond that and break down what (for me) worked and what didn't. This game is incredible visually...the color pallette is a bit muted (as one would expect from this type of game), and had too many "Final Fantasy" type player models in the supporting cast for my taste, but overall oustanding graphics. The gameplay is at times interesting and varied; I particularly enjoyed the "on rails" sections. But...it does get more than a bit repetitive. Without spoiling anything, certain boss fights follow a similar pattern, and some just plain disappoint completely. Getting a load screen about every 300 feet of game area at times is more than a slight annoyance (why all PS3 devs don't just go ahead and ask Naughty Dog for lessons on how to avoid large installs and lengthy load times is beyond me). And then there are the cut scenes...holy crap, the cut scenes. Don't get me wrong, some are well done, and a few characters turn in decent performances. But mostly the scenes are overlong, overly indulgent, and just plain boring. I found the sporadic attempts at high drama and humor to be mostly just silly. The majority of reviews indicate many people really like this game, but I wonder what kind of scores it would have gotten had it not come with the Metal Gear label. I would highly recommend renting this game and playing for a few hours to decide if this one is for you!

This is the first Metal gear game I have played, meaning I am or was not a Metal gear fan (until I played this masterpiece). Lot of people tempt to compare this game to Halo and Cod, but let me tell you this I have played Halo and All the Cod, and my conclusion is: Metal gear Solid 4 (and all in the series) is the best ! in storyline and specially in gameplay, I love the gameplay ! well, obvioulsy Halo and Cod is better in multiplayer and Online, I accept that, since I love to play Halo multiplayer with my friends. also there cant be a comparison, because metal gear is another sub genre: TACTICAL, not brute shooting. now moving to the rating section , out of 10:

Story : 10 , I m person who dont care about the story of a game, just to play ! if i wanted story i would buy movie or something. but the story even if i havent played the previous one is interesting and entertaining, maybe because character are very lovable or whatever, now i somehow got an idea how the metal gear world works. the only problem the scenes are tooo... long.

Graphics: 10, Breathtaking! the cutscenes to the actual game takes all your breath away... the graphic are top class.

Sound: 10, Is that an Ipod!? yes you could use an ipod as music device to put a music you like ! also the voice acting are excellent... wish i could get the japanese version since japanese voice are way cooler ! sorry americans ...

Gameplay: 17 if i could, Amazing ! this along with Gow, R&C: Up you arsenal and Castlevania: Symphony of the night are my top best game I have played in this miserably world ! Now a piece of advice, which i know is a bad word for some of you... read the game manual! I heard a lot of people complaining that they dont know how to do X thing, so they cant enjoy this game to the fullest. once you know the instruction, you would feel like you are actual part of the game. you could do many thing, my favorite is the use of a trash can or drum ! funny hah ? i dont even have words to describe the gameplay, it is so god-like. Have you played Uncharted 2 (btw i love this game too) ? well, if yes, i would put it like this , they are alike but just imagine metal gear is more realistic and better! you could play as stealthy or going like rambo killing everyone you see, the choice is yours.

Lasting appeal: 10, there is 6 chapters, I'm only in the 3rd chapter and i have 10 hours playing. I think after finish the game, I would like to played again and again , and it would never get old ! ( except for snake whick is really old )

Overall: 10 ! , the game is just God - class game, Graphics, story, sound, GAMEPLAY, lasting appeal they are all balanced and perfect... this game deserve to be called the Best game for PS3 of all time!

Very few games get it right on all levels. The best games are: fun to play, have great visuals and sound, and tell a story worth caring about. The VERY best games make you want to start the game again as soon as you finish it.

This game has all the things you want in a video game. No, make it 'all the things you want in an entertainment experience.' Some people read books, others watch movies, some watch sports, still others play video games for entertainment. I found MGS4 to be better than any other game I've ever played, better than any movie I've ever watched, and better than the vast majority of books that I've ever read.

Primarily that is due to the intricate, well told story that sucks you in and makes you care about the characters. To say any more about it would give too much away. Suffice it to say that YOU should play this game at least once in your life.

Visuals: When the game came out, nothing had ever been seen like it in the video game industry. It is a work of art as much as a video game. Even years later, the vast majority of games for the next gen systems do not approach it in terms of graphical quality and attention to detail. Some might argue that Killzone 2 has better graphics. I say, why spend time arguing when you could be enjoying the game?

Sound: Excellent score and sound effects. In the game you have the option of using an MP3 player to better customize your auditory experience. This is an unheard-of innovation.

Story: I recommend playing all the other Metal Gear Solid games before this one. Trust me, it will not be a mistake. The story is intricate, detailed, and thought provoking. This game will make you think if you let it. If you don't want to think, just sit back, enjoy the visuals and story.

Gameplay: Feels like a third person shooter. A really well made third person shooter. Also, at the same time, feels like a stealth game. Approach each situation however the heck you feel like at the time. Controls are top notch.

Replay value: You will likely come back to this game sometime. Sooner or later. But sometime. If you like online shooters, then the addition of MGS: Online is a free bonus that you will love. The online community is still going strong in this game. There are dozens of ways to play and finish the game, each one giving you a different prize at the end. No shortage of replay value at all.

Final score: 10/10.
