This game is really, really good.

It is not for everyone, teamwork is central to the game. It's not a "spray and pray".

I have an AX360 surround sound headphone with a mic. I hooked the sound up to the headphone box via the optical cable. Hooking the mic up was more of a pain, had to get an "iMic" USB to 3.5mm jack adapter. I also had to get a 3.5 to 2.5mm adapter, as the mic had 2.5mm plug. It was worth it, but I notice a lot of players do not have mics, probably because it is harder on the PS3. On the Xbox 360, you simply hook the 2.5mm plug from a microphone into the controller.

You could get a bluetooth headset with mic, though they usually are not stereo, just one ear. Still, no wires is nice.

The lack of players with mics does decrease the game a bit, communication is vital. Some of the clans that are forming realize this, they all communicate and can perform surgical attacks that can finish a game quickly. If you are up against them, you will simply lose. But at least you lose fast.

My clan is [RAT], "Radical A Team", if you join Raven and have a mic, feel free to join the RAT pack!

Hopefully more people will get mics. The "lone wolf" type players should realize that Modern Warfare 2 is what they would enjoy more. This game is more objective oriented.

The graphic quality is perfect. Enough to give you the feeling you are there, but low enough that you will never lag because of the processor being overworked. Even the PS3 has limitations, and quick response is central to this game.

See you on the battlefield!

Great game and so much funner than MW 2. If you like a fun, team based game where you need skill then this game is for you. The best shooter on the PS3!

I've been hearing about dissapointment for this game, somehow i kind of understand, because maybe they where expecting something like CODMW2, which by the way is a really good game. This one is something apart, different, its not about just shooting a reflexes, its aobut strategy, it remembers me Age of empires or command and conquer the first ones, because you cannot rely on yourself, its more about teamwork. Its like a sand box, where you can build an awesome game or a crapy one depending on yourlself only. Not the game, is like actually war, yo can take your chances by yourself or a team, to whom yo can relate in many different ways. Like a Little Big planet or Mod nation Racers but about war, and not about building something fisical, but builiding you own experience. I'll give it a 5.5/5, if i could. For the actually freedom the have delivered. Though.... Uncharted 2 is more my kind of game, and Gran Turismo 5 in comming months.... Great year

First off if your not into playing as a team and only care about kills MAG is not for you stick with COD and if your only gonna make a purchase based on the graphics then dont buy it. Now im not saying the graphics are bad i think there awesome but there are people that say the graphics look like crap thus being the reason they dont buy MAG , i say good dont buy it because you will be just another annoying person complaing on the headset. MAG is one of my fav games/FPS besides MGS and UC its none stop action from start to finish and teamwork is a must the battles can be very intense weather your doing the 256 player matches or 64 players. Being in command of a squad is very fun you have to be on your toes and strategies communication is key as well but you can win battles without headsets as well i have a headset but i rarely use it and still manage to work just fine with the squad and win.Anyways not much more i can say the controls are solid customization and skill improvment is always a joy to have.

MAG joins Warhawk as the other "online only" multiplayer shooter for the PS3. Its claim to fame is the ability to support up to 256 players in a match at once. This is unprecedented for a gaming console and really shows the power of the PS3. The question is "does that really matter?" Is the game fun? Does it work well? Pretty much.

If my review is sounding luke warm it's because my initial experience with MAG was not very good. I bought it the day it was released, went home, and fired it up. Much to my dismay, I was greeted with the wonderful task of having to download over 100mb of updates only to find out that the servers were down. I could not get into a match. The only thing I was able to do was the initial training mission. Not a very auspicious beginning. I put down the controller and proceeded to play another game that released that day (Mass Effect 2).

Thank goodness two days later everything was working for MAG. Getting in a match was easy, no lag whatsoever, and most of the players were pleasant. Graphics looked pretty good considering how many players can join and the shear size of the map. Audio was really good (gunshots echoed in the distance, ricochets sounded realistic). I got a definite "Killzone 2" feel with the controls (I liked the controls). Playing the game was pretty enjoyable.

It seems as though some enemies require way too many hits to bring them down. Even headshots don't always result in an instant death. The early missions do not have 256 players, but rather are training missions within your faction that have up to 64 players. You have to level up before you can join the all out war (I think it's level 8). The early training missions are nothing more than simple team deathmatches.

I would say the pros outweigh the cons. If you really enjoy online multiplayer, you will find plenty to be happy with regarding MAG. I can't say that it's really that much different from Killzone 2, the Call of Duty games, or even Resistance 2. However, time will tell as I level up and experience the 256 player battles.

I have numerous games for my PS3, but I have to say this game is one of the best game ever!!! It is so fun and you will lose track of time once you play it. Amazon has this promotional code for a future game now until the end of January I believe, take advantage of this, its definitely worth it! There is no lag on MAG, it works perfectly!!

I was initially very skeptical of the whole idea of 256 players palying in one map.

After I have tried it on my firends' Ps3, I was completely hooked.

The team work design is a work of geniusis and aiming and shooting looks so real

MAG isn't just your normal FPS game, it actually requires some tactics and lots of teamwork. You cannot just go run and shoot like rambo style and expect to go on a killing spree. You will die. Overall GREAT game. If you like games based on teamwork, THIS IS YOUR GAME. If you like a bit of realism, THIS IS YOUR GAME. If you are into massive clashes, THIS IS YOUR GAME.

First of all, THIS GAME IS NOT MW2 OR BFBC.

Please disregard all the posters that compare MAG unfavorably to either of those games.

This game is not about the kills, not about the KDR.

This game is about using communication, teamwork, and ACTUAL tactics to win games. As such, MAG is incredibly punishing to those fools who run around like it is MW2 and expect to get kills with 3 shots from any distance. If you play it like MW2, you will die a lot, you will suck.

MW2 = free for all frag fest with tons of camping for perks

BFBC2 = big maps, lots of vehicles, but still free for all

MAG = big maps, vehicles, and absolute requirement for teamwork, communication, and tactics

Now, for actual gameplay:

- The controls are smooth and I haven't ever heard anyone complain about them and I've gotten many friends into MAG since the original betas in September. There is very little auto-aim/aim-assist, so again, MW2 players may want to hold off as MAG isn't going to baby you and let you get kills if you simply lack skills.

- Gameplay, here is the core of the experience... the modes are massive. You are divided into 8 player squads, but nothing stops you from going to other parts of the map if you find other areas need help. Communication is key here, so a headset is seriously warranted. Leadership kicks in at level 15 and you can level up for three different kinds of leadership, commanding 8 to 32 to 128 men at once, with different abilities.

- Graphics are very good for such a huge game, but aren't super shiny or anything. Nonetheless, they are fine.

- The battlefield is always filled with sounds of war, making for a very immersive experience.

- Servers have been remarkably lag-free, especially for a launch... much better than MW2 and other online games' servers, again.

Again, do not run into this game expecting it to be MW2. You will be kicked in the nuts. However, if you are willing to have a little bit of patience to learn the ropes and the maps, communicate with teammates, learn some tactics instead of running straight at the enemy or camping for kills, you will definitely like this game.

This game may be a bit tough and disorienting for new players, but once you get the hang of the unique controls, and battle style, you are going to have loads of fun with this ps3 winner! Definitely check out MAG if you're looking for a solid online ps3 exclusive title!

Finally multiplayer that is not restricted to just a small group... 256 online players.... Awesome...

Great graphics, great game play. Biggest problem is that might need more than one copy - you see I have this 15 year old daughter who keep borrowing the game to play upstairs...

Worth the price, worth the wait, thanx Sony!

MAG is an experience that can't be missed. Playing with 256 other players on one map the size of all the MW2 maps put together is just awesome. The customization you can do for your character and weapons is really sweet. If you own a ps3 then buy this game

  • from Amazon

I'm not going to detract from it's rating for not having a single player mode. It was advertised as online only and I was fully aware of this when I bought it. Playing the same maps over and over does get tedious.

I like the customization options and the leadership idea. There's little to be done to convince people that the game isn't to be played like MW2 (in this, everyone needs to work together to complete objectives versus running around doing his own thing.)

At first it seemed like SVER would just dominate everyone with their high damage weapons (Raven has high accuracy weapons and Valor has balanced weapons), but once people learned how to use tactics, things began to even out.

Overall, great game. Would like to see more maps and battle options. Make sure it's not your only game with a new PS3.
