Positives

+ Realistic weapon design with somewhat weighted controls.

+ Great level design.

+ Amazing enemy AI in singleplayer.

+ Dark and menacing enemy character designs.

+ Excellent graphics and presentation, arguably only topped by Uncharted 2 on the ps3.

+ Fun multiplayer that involves a class system, objective based gameplay, and dynamic rounds per match (for example, it can go from Bodycount to Search & Destroy to Assassination without switching maps).

+ Built in clan system for multiplayer, allowing you to form clans, arrange official matches with other clans, and bet points on matches.

Negatives

- Weak story in singleplayer.

- Annoying characters in singleplayer.

- Weak allied AI.

- Assault class in multiplayer is somewhat broken, but you have the option to disable different classes/weapons/etc when making a game.

Overall, I'd highly recommend this game, and it's in my top five favorite games for 2009. It has a great story mode and an addictive competitive multiplayer mode. However, if you're looking for cooperative play, this may not be the title for you. In that case, I'd highly recommend the fast and frenetic Left 4 Dead 2, my second favorite shooter of the year.

This game propelled me forward with thunderous excitement from start to finish. Fundamentally similar to other first person shooters like COD4, Black, and Resistance, it may not be the most innovative game in the category but it is absolutely solid. It was a tremendous joy to play; epic in its scale, filled with intricate detail, and highly polished.

Throughout the single-player campaign I destroyed bridges, felled hundreds of enemy soldiers, fought sometimes large and other times lightning fast bosses. While I'd heard that Killzone 2 would be slower and more methodical than the average shooter, I had more trouble getting myself to stop playing than making progress. The game was flexible in its approach to almost every situation. Sometimes I'd snipe enemies from afar, popping their helmets into the air; sometimes I'd rush an enemy and unload a barrage of close quarters fire.

The controls were weighty, never allowing me to jump too quickly from target to target. At first I tried to increase the sensitivity of the joysticks, thinking I'd be able to swivel faster. Because the heft comes more at the end of a motion than throughout the motion, I found that increasing the sensitivity didn't help. I ended up turning the sensitivity back down and simply got used to the experience, which actually felt really good after the initial unfamiliarity passed.

It is the immersive nature of Killzone 2 that makes it really shine. I simply couldn't seem to absorb enough of the detail at any one moment. Over time you feel like you are a part of the world and one with your movements within it. You can feel the grit in the air and the cold metal of your rifle. It was a wonderfully compelling experience that I can't wait to replay.

The story of Killzone 2 was just fine - I have no major complaints. It was good enough that I felt grounded in the situations at hand, and I'll be interested in seeing what happens next. That was enough for me.

I've only spent a couple hours on the multiplayer, which feels strong but not incredible. My only complaint is that the multiplayer requires you to play a good number of rounds before you start to unlock new weapons and other classes, like the medic class and the engineer. While this may train a lot of people to play, I would have preferred to jump into more variety sooner than have to earn it. Still, I have high hopes for the continued multiplayer experience, and even if it were completely absent, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this game purely based on the campaign.

This is the best PS3 game so far, if you like this type of game don't hesitate to get it. Excellent graphics, great online play, very strong single player campaign as well.

i have the demo and it was pretty good. it was the shortest demo i've ever played though but it was pretty good. the graphics after playing games like call of duty and resistance were extrordinary. controlls aren't the worst but not the best either. i don't know why people don't complain about the controls on halo because they're even more confusing than killzone. the only thing that this game needs desperatly is a 4 player split screen mode(s). overall i like the demo. i can't wait to get the game though. online i heard is amazing good.

I was put off on this game over some of the other reviews i read.

but now that i have played the campaign twice and logged over 25+

plus hours in the Online multiplayer I have to say this is a PS3

classic, The controls are easy to get a hang of. I had played the demo

on the Playstation Network for months before my purchase and had no

Idea that hitting R3 would make you run. If you don't run you feel like your walking

through the mud with lead boots.

The campaign was excellent, Final boss took me back to the day when games were a challenge.

Graphics are top notch on this game. Not very vibrant colors but the darker colors used adds to the

whole War zone/warfare atmosphere.

Well that's that............ buy it and enjoy it. You wont be disappointed.

Killzone 2 is a great game and is one of the best out there for the PS3. The game looks spectacular and gameplay is top notch.

The story, though limited, is decent and isn't too over the top like some other games out there. They could of made the intro to the game longer to give more of a history of what happened to help ease the player into the game.

Overall, Killzone 2 is a wonderful game that offers an amazingly atmospheric experience and offer both a fun SP and MP gameplay.

First off, right away, I'm going to say this game is absolutely fantastic! The graphics are by far the best of any FPS current on any console. The lighting is breath taking and the effects and textures all look stellar. The art style is very dark and urban, you get a real feel of what a war can be like. Explosions, people catching on fire (and you get to catch them on fire later!) and heads exploding!

Oh yeah, not a kid for your 10 your old son. You can effectively (including multiplayer) blow off enemies heads with shotguns, sniper rifles and other weapons. The Helghast (the character on the front of the game)have a very nazi like feel to them making them ruthless and unforgiving. The AI is the best around (especially on harder difficulties) and you'll be constantly be surprised about what this game can do.

Wind, derbies, and the weather all play a dramatic part in the game. You'll feel right in the middle of the action. For as little as the scenery changes (No lush forests, winter areas, or little actual rain fall) the game makes the dreary and hostile planet of Helghan seem like a total warzone. Not to say the scenery is all the same. You skip from the most awesome urban street fighting to a desert like facility complete with snipers and amazing blowing wind effects. It changes up again as you protect a ISA cruiser, and again as you storm the wastelands in a mech suit.

It all concludes as you fight to capture Visari (the main protagonist) and fight on an amazing landscape (explanation will spoil the game). The single player, in all, is pretty good. The fighting you do is very fun but the story line is very above average. It's pretty good, the ending being especially good but some of the characters don't feel that established. I was rather fond of the main character Sev though, Templar (from Killzone1) and Sevs teamate Garza. Overall the Single player is a great cinematic experience.

As for multiplayer, your in for a treat. Recently the game released two map packs, both very good the most recently being especially good. The multiplayer has LOTS of customization so if a certain class, level, or gun annoys you there are all kinds of options to optimize your playing experience. The multiplayer is much quicker, and more action packed. You can play with up to 32 players on any map, but not all maps function the best with 32 players. Clans are fantastic and have a great system to level your clan up and rank on the clan leaderboards. The game has a CONSTANT STREAM of NEW UPDATES, MAP PACKS, AND OTHER FEATURES. The dev team is in constant contact with the fans and this game gets tons of updated features. Expect tons on the way!

I'll start off with the graphics. They're a perfect 10/10. There's some complaints that this game is not in full 1080p resolution but if it was than it would probably hinder the gameplay as with a lot of games. The lighting effects are the best i've seen and the close up of visari at the beginning of the game is stunning.

Most of the attention for this game seems to be aimed at gameplay. I'm only going to write about my experience. Personally, I think it's outstanding what they did with the gameplay for this game. They made it more realistic than other FPS's and i'll explain how. Moving your gun is a little slower in this game than most other fps's because in real life when you have that much gear on it's going to cause you to move slower. This game has also made more use of the Dualshock 3 controller than any game i've played on the PS3 so far. I've compared the vibrating motion with Killzone 2 to other FPS's and it's more tense with this game as if you were actually shooting a gun.

Since I have many games to catch up on, I haven't played much KZ2 multiplayer so I can't really give my 2 cents about that but the story mode is more than enough for me.

Great online play

Tons of fun!

Graphics are awesome, and the new controller setting made the game feel even better in my opinion. The online muliplayer is where it's at though. The graphics in this mode are just as amazing as the story mode, and playing the warzone games mixes gametypes up nicely. I like the little RPG elements with leveling up your character too.

I highly recommend this game to the all the graphic lovers, and online FPS junkies out there. Fun stuff!

Thats all i have to say man it was made to do everything Battlefield BC and it exceeded that mark highly! thats all KZ2 was trying to be better than im sure u can see a resemblance in the two as they are both fps, have no split screen, everyone doubts their single player but praises their multilayer. I great to be a ps3 owner right now..360 people just get a ps3..im not saying get rid of ur 360 but cmon! just get a ps3 im sure 95% of u had a ps2 so just get a ps3 u know Gears 2 is boring now and since you guys are so called hardcore gamers then Halo will not hold u up, GTA4 the lost and damned will not hold u up either.

I've been playing game all my life, I don't watch TV just Netflix and TIVO and I've been playing game for 30 years, Killzone 2 is the most realistic, the most fun and the most beautiful game I ever player.

I still love UT3, COD4, R2, MGO, Gears of War 2, but I have to choose one Killzone 2 will be the one (Sorry Snake!! I still love you).

Buy it!! Buy it!! Buy it!!! and the DLCs are a lot of Fun.

Happy Hunting in Helgan!!

Killzone 2 is undeniably the best shooter on the PS3. COD4 was great and all, but KZ2 has that certain something that puts it a tad above all the rest. Graphics are the best ever on a console (and hold up nicely against a lot of PC games), campaign is intriguing, and the multiplayer is every bit as fun as Resistance 2 and COD4. It's probably even more fun.

I have to nit pick. In the original Killzone, one of the characters is Jan (pronounced Yawn) Templar. In KZ2 they pronounce his name Jan (as in Jan from the Brady Bunch). This is wrong! Rico is even more annoying than he was in the original Killzone. They should have brought Haka back. These are all small complaints though. KZ2 is probably the most compelling reason to get a PS3, especially if you're not into blu-ray.
