Fun and non-stop, though it's a little short. You are sure to love the final installment of GOWIII. Even if you never played 1 or 2, you can still really get into this game. Gotta go now and beat the game again, this time on Titan difficulty!

I love this game. It is so much fun, most games I have got this year were ok but none grabbed my attention more than this one. You can almost feel the hatred radiating from Kratos as the game progresses. Also the way the story line is playing out till the end of this game is phenomenal. I have loved the whole series and even got the GOW PSP. I don't think any other game series has brought a better storyline than this one. I say it gets GOTY.

After playing the god of war series for the first time with God of War Collection, I couldn't wait until God of War 3 came out. I really enjoyed the story and the overall game play, and I had no reason to think that GOW 3 would be any different. For the most part the latest (last?) installment to the series delivers but I was left with some sort of an empty feeling after completing the game.

God of War 3 starts of immediately where God of War 2 left off, but of course something occurs that causes Kratos to return to Hades yet again where he loses his powers and is forced to start all over again. This should come as no surprise as no one should expect to play through an entire game with all upgraded powers. After things settle down Kratos continues his quest for revenge against Zeus and the other gods. Without ruining the story, I won't go into any more of the story line, but for those who have played the previous two games should be quite familiar with the theme by now.

Game play in God of War 3 is virtually unchanged from the previous two games, you should be able to pick up and start playing the game with little to no learning curve and only the more advanced moves require some thought and memorization. While the advanced moves are cool and can makes things slightly easier, they are not required to advance in the game, just a good combination of attacking and blocking should allow you to advance, and the bigger stronger enemies are usually defeated with quick time events.

As expected the graphics are greatly updated from the previous two games. If you only played the PS2 versions of the God of War series, then you will see a big improvement. I have played the PS3 versions of these games, and I still see graphical improvements. The graphics are much more crisp and seem to capture more detail in both the environments as well as Kratos and enemies.

Sound is pretty good, but for some reason I had a hard time hearing some characters' speech such as Gaia. The sound of her voice is muffled and very hard to hear over the music and other sound effects. In addition Kratos' attacks are not as loud as clear as I would have liked them to be and did not sound as good as GOW I and GOW II. When comparing the sound to my other PS3 games it just didn't sound as good (except for the BGM). I will NOT fault the game itself for this though, since it very well could be my 10 year old A/V receiver that has been giving me issues for a while now. When I upgrade my receiver I will play through this game again to see if the sound improves.

Difficulty wise, this game is considerably easier than GOW I and II, if you beat those games, then you should not have much problem beating this one. In all three games, I played on Normal difficulty and had more trouble beating GOW I and GOW 2 than GOW 3. This is not to say this game doesn't have its moments that will leave you wanting to throw your controller out the window due to some extremely cheesy and necessarily difficult parts, but if you persist you will get by it. THANKFULLY, the perfect save/checkpoint system from the previous games have been carried over. This was my biggest concern because I feared the developers would mess this up forcing gamers to do frustrating parts over and over again, but luckily they didn't mess it up so once again you are constantly reaching checkpoints as well as being able to manually save at designated areas. What's even better is that your automatic checkpoints are also saved automatically so when you turn the game off you are guaranteed to at least start at your last check point. This is very helpful during difficult parts and bosses and you don't have to worry about losing your checkpoint if you turn the game off.

My main complaint about the game is the storyline. While it was enough to keep me playing till the end, it never seemed to be able to pull me in like the previous God of War games did. It was almost like I was waiting for something, but that "something" never happened. The events of the story just seemed to just happen and did not seem to be tied to other parts. The boss battles against the various Gods of Olympus seemed to occur too close to one another and there was no build up to them like the boss battle against Ares was in the original God of War. It's basically one moment you're walking and the very next moment you'll fight Poseidon, o one exception to this is the boss fight against Hercules which was my favorite boss battle in the game. I was also quite disappointed with the ending sequence and it just left me with an empty feeling after thinking about all Kratos went through to get to this very point.

Overall I think the game is worth playing and even buying. I don't regret my purchase as I have with other games that have been hyped up like this one. However, in comparing the first two games to this one, the story could have been much better. In any case I'm going to play through it again which is very rare for me. In fact I'm probably going to play 1, 2, and 3 again. Maybe it's unfair to compare this game to the first two masterpieces, but it very difficult for me not to do so. It's still a very good game, just not as good as the first two and for that reason I'll have to give it four stars.

OK, but now I know this game had been reviewed to dead. So here is my take on the GOWIII. The game play and style is very similar to Dante inferno, especially the jump hook. If I didn't know better I would have thought both games are from the same company. The ending seems to elude to GOW IV despite the publisher indicated that this is the last GOW.

Pros: bad ass graphics. The game graphic is comparable to what you see in the movie. It also have a decent story line. The game is definitely a continuation of GOWI and II.

Cons: some puzzles in the game are so dumb and required very good time to succeed. The game have no angle camera at all. Low replay value once you passed the game.

If you are a fan of the hack and slash, this game is worth playing. The graphic alone is worth checking the game out.

Following the success of the two God of War games for PS2 this game is great! It has all the goods of the first two games and it rises the bar and you see the graphic quality of this game. By far the best you can get on PS3.

God of War 3 will be Game of the Year for 2010! Don't believe any reviews lower than 4. Basically anything given here in Amazon 3 stars and down for GOW3 is straight up nitpicking at anything to sour an awesome game experience. I know its your own opinions, but when I hear someone low star review because... oh so much blood?? oh the camera is fixed?? oh is a button smasher?? If you didnt know this before picking up the game, then is your own fault. GOW has blood, and a lot of it, ripping apart your oponent and smashing them against walls are the way you get ahead. Hence the M for mature rating.. The camera is fixed in the most theatrical way possible, for me surpases the previous games. It is more than just a button smasher hack and slash game, you have puzzles to solve, places or bosses to climb... You also level up your weapons at a right pace. Huge..... I mean HUGE!!!!! Boss fights!! Id say all of the boss fights are EPIC! The graphics are definitely on par if not surpasses Uncharted 2 graphics no less. Music fits the game perfect. You have to play GOW 1 & 2 to apreciate the story a bit better. But even if you didnt play the previous God of War games, it can still be understood for the most part. GOW3 for me its the best one in the series, more blood, more action, bigger boss fights and eyecandy graphics. This is definitely the reason to get a PS3 if you haven't already.

Santa Monica Studios put themselves among the top elite developers with GoW3, next to Naughty Dog and their Uncharted series. GoW3 is all that is suppossed to be and more. That being said, try to rent the game before buying. It has no online component and dont be surprised if you end up not liking the game at all. The game is a technical masterpiece and everything looks impressive, but i personally dont like the level progression and the levels are not impressive nor amusing. If you played the GoW Collection then you know what to expect from GoW3, what i did not expect was the lack of interest i had on seeing how all unfolds, something that never happened on my multiple playthroughs of GoW 1 and 2 since the PS2 days. I wish i had rent it first, because i would see that this game is better to rent it, finish it and return for a fraction of the retail cost. Also all the talk about scale and the titans, well most of the game takes place in small areas and even the boss fights are restricted to small arenas. GoW3 stands as my least favorite in the GoW series, but i have to say the technical showcase of GoW3 is IMPRESSIVE.

Play this game by renting it or buying, but defientely dont let this game go by without playing it.

PlayStation 3 has had some pretty amazing games this generation, however, nothing could have prepared me for the greatness that is God of War 3. The graphics, sense of scale, no load times, framerate that never bogs down, and fluidity of combat never ceases to amaze me. The weapons you ungraciously rip from other bosses' cold, dead hands are all a blast to use, a couple of personal favorites being the Claws of Hades and the Nemean Cestus. The items are are fun to use, and recharge with their own meter, so you don't have to limit their use. The magic attacks are weapon specific and appropriately epic and effective.

Epic. That is an appropriate word to sum up this gem of a game from Sony Santa Monica. This is easily the best game this generation so far, with uncharted 2 coming in a (close) second.

If you have any doubts about this game, do yourself a favor and play it. Let me know how you feel after the cronos fight. I'm pretty sure you will agree.

The games gets off to an explosive start & its not stop action all the way. The weapons, visual effects, gameplay are all top notch. Definitely worth playing.

This game is great! I played GOW I and GOW II just before this and the history line, the gameplay, the scenario, all just got better.

I have only played for a few hours, but I'm blown away so far. The size of the everything if freaking massive. Graphics are great, probably the best I've seen. Gameplay is good and story seems pretty cool so far. Go get this game! I grabbed the last copy on the shelves at the store yesterday...

Not sure if this is the last hurrah for this series, but it provides a good closure for this gamer. Intense gameplay from start to finish with some great set pieces, gameplay, and voice acting. Couldn't ask for more. Very clear focus with only a few difficult moments that had me searching the web for a walkthrough. Tons of variety throughout which is an improvement over some of the frustratingly repetitive battles with the minotaurs, gorgons, and harpies of the previous titles (they're still here but somehow more interesting and infinitely easier and more fun to dispose of). I think this one has gone out with a bang, can't wait to see what this team comes up with next.

I have played all the God war games, Gow 1,2 even the psp one (Chains of olympus) and i have finish all of them 100% meaning i have all the unlockables things and all the level finished, yes even the Very Hard mode. I know you can call me no-life gamer, who would play two or more times the same game, but sorry i did, and if you didnt, well, my bad to interrupt your playing with teddy bears and barbie with your little sister ! just kidding, at least i know you are reading this because you have played at least one Gow game right? if not you should stop reading and be back with teddy bears. now jumping to the review, God of War have always been a adult or young adult game, why ? isnt enough all the blood, all the naked women, all the sex to justify my reason? sadly this is the last one in the series, i know there is a gow coming for the psp but i saying this is the last one in the storyline. hopefully, this is not a dissapointing title. a breataking game, and excellent gameplay ! here is how rated the game ( out of 10) :

Story: 9, i dont really care about the story of a game I just want to play, if i wanted story i should have buy some dvd and watch story to full. most player said the story is not as good as the previous ones. well, to tell the truth i dont even think the previous one had story but well, i know the story is confusing because too much information is there and the ending is just... senseless so that must be it.

Sound: 9.5, the soundtrack are top class! especially the start menu soundtrack, i love it and also the one playing when you fight poseidon. but it is just me or Kratos just talk too much, it doesn fit him at all ... hoped he didnt talk that much and let me enjoy the music for a while.

Gameplay: 13 if it is possible, do i have add more detail to a obvious subject, We all know Gow is famous for the gameplay, all the blood , all the slashing, all the torture, all the sex! the gameplay is perfect, but not as perfect as the Gow2 (which is my favorite one btw) , the combo are detailed in hd so you could see how you torture those freaking monster and watch how cool you are doing those pro-combos, my only proble is O minigame they should have leaved like the previous one in the middle. and also the Gow should be more... long , and more difficult and have better monsters, those monster are not as cool as the Gow 2. they could also be more creative with the weapons, two of the are exactly the same as the blade of chaos ( the one you always use) , well aside of those cons the fighting system is awesome !

Lasting appeal : 8 , Oh my God... of war ! what happen santa Monica ?! where are those tons of unlockables costumes ? where are they ? this is the only thing that dissapoint me... there is no motivation to play as much as the previous one but well at least there is a combat arena /...

(sigh)

Overall: 9.4 God of war 3 have top class graphics nearly as perfect as uncharted 2 and MetalG4, God-class gameplay, loveable music, as i said before the only bad thing is the lasting appeal is very short and there is not enough goodies to mantain you entertained for month but well, overall is a game you must not miss as a God of war player, we are sad to not to be able to see kratos again, but he always remain there as the Chaos we always see in the world !

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. This game is amazing. If you don't own a copy, go pick one up! If you don't own a PS3, go pick up a PS3 with this game! The graphics are the best and the game-play is so smooth. Welp, that's all I want to say for now, back to playing GOW3... ;)

Oh and one other thing...Playstation rules! :)
