Even though the graphics were ported from the PS2, the gameplay is solid. I have never played GOW, so these games are well worth the purchase.

I am a huge fan of GOW franchise. I played GOD 1 and 2 multiple times before I bought GOW: Collections. At first I was hesitant to buy it thinking, even though it is in HD it is still the same game(s). But boy, I was wrong.

Simply put,

-GOD 1 and 2 ARE EPIC GAMES with awesome stories, balanced heck&slash actions, variety of weapons and enemies, RIDICULOUS BOSSES, loads and loads of puzzles. 10/10 for both of them. Please read the PS2 reviews to learn more about them.

-BOTH OF THE GAMES LOOK WAY BETTER IN 720p HD. I actually switched back and forth between originals on PS2 and collection for PS3. The graphics are gorgeous and by that I mean mainly the in game gameplay. The cut scenes are don't look as pretty as they should, but still look lot better in HD. If you ever played these games, you know these games are made to be enjoyed in HD.

-HAVING 2 AWESOME GAMES + BONUSES ON ONE DISC REALLY HELPS. I am a collector in terms of games. It is sad that PS3s these days are not backward compatible and my PS2 broke. So if you are like me, you can get rid of your original GOW copies and just keep collection addition.

In summary, this is not like crappy gamecube to wii port type of game. The developers truly has made it magnificent in terms of how the games look. IT IS A TRUE 720 HD EXPERIENCE.

FOR $30, IT IS A STEAL regardless you own the original or not.

honestly the game is great whether it was on ps2 or not. i've seen it on the ps2 but never owned it. having it for ps3 is the perfect way to get you back into the storyline and appreciate the revamped graphics in 720p for the ps3. i'm glad i bought this and it's pretty cheap! so yeah, it's worth buying it even if you already have it on ps2 'cause all the new ps3's don't have the playback for ps2 so i'd get it if you wanna buy GOW3 or planning on having it this makes a lot of sense for you to buy the collection. just do it! it separates the fans froms the posers heh just kidding.

It was great to be able to buy and play both GOW1 and GOW2 on one disk for the PS3. It has been updated some, but don't expect to see the PS3 type of graphics that you may be used to, but it is still a great play.

So what does Sony do when the new PS3's are NOT backwards compatible? They bring back two of some of the best selling games made for PS2, and upscaled to 1080p! I just bought my PS3 a few weeks ago and got this game last week because I did not play them on PS2. And I was truly satisfied with this terrific game.

If you're new to the historic fiction-action/adventure/puzzle genre, think of titles like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Lord of the Rings II & III. This game blew any other game in its genre out of the water.

Pros:

+Great adventure and story for both games - Incredible scope. Can't say enough about that.

+25-plus combined hours of just playing the games straight through on normal difficulty with medium exploring

+Extras challenges, unlocked features, and hidden power-ups when exploring in both GoW I & II

+Challenging and fun puzzles along with incredible action

+Awesome action sequences that require quick reflexes

+Two games for one, and for a cheap price

+Almost everything looks better in HD and great frame rates

Cons:

-Certain cut scenes looked low quality after upscaling, but did not take too much away from the experience

Not too many negatives. I'm glad I got this game and I know I'll be revisiting this to play in the tougher challenges and tougher settings (as I only played through the normal settings the first time).

For the casual gamer who wants to check out this highly addicting game, rent first then buy if you want to try the challenges. But for the fan eagerly awaiting God of War III, this is a must have, just to play through and get prepared for the end of the trilogy.

Other games I enjoyed are Bioshock and Dead Space.

So having played GOW 1, GOW 2 and GOW on the PSP, I was a little bit skeptical about spending additional money on well......2 games I had already played (and beaten!). Still, Since GOW 3 is due in March, I decided to go ahead an purchase this as a warm up for that game. I'm so glad I made that decision, This game is just awesome on the PS3! It's not going to WOW you graphically (don't expect Uncharted 2 Graphics)the gameplay, story and pure A$$-Kicking is just phenomenal. Can't wait for GOW 3 now!

One of my favorite games. The graphic improves a lot from PS2. Fun action game. The story is interesting as well. The weapon/combo system is fun. The difficulty is well set. A beginner wouldn't has problem playing it as easy. The hard mode is very challenging. 2 in 1 combo with the price it's worth while. It's also PS exclusive.
