I had been out of 'adventure' gaming for years. Received this for free with purchase of new PS3 and gave it a play. 8 hours later I couldn't believe how immersed I was in the game. Remember how you felt when first playing Legend of Zelda? Same feeling, only almost 30 years later!

God of war collection (PS3).. hmm.. the digital gaming experience... its like "Repainted Monalisa"... either ways.. She is known for her beauty...

When i bought PS3 80Gb long back and found that it was not backwards compatible. I really really missed playing god of war and always wished to experience GOW 1 and 2.

Yep!! 12+16 hours.. GAME OVER now.. This is one of the best action games of this era. kratos on big screen !!! no doubt.. He is so aggressive. Though there are few issues with the background colors, few environments did not really go with the digital version.... the objective of kratos's in big screen experience is wonderful.

The best part is GOW 3 demo. o my god.... speechless... wow.. just waiting for March 31 2010....God.. let the war begin soon..

If you like God of war 1 and you liked God of War 2.... well thats what this is, but it's still insanely fun. As Kratos you travel through two epic jouneys of redemption and revenge. Tight gameplay and Crisp re-worked graphics make the expirence that much better this time around. If you're looking for that action game to hold you off unitil God of War III, pick this up!

I'd forgotten how good these games are. The graphics, though not up there w/ top-notch PS3 games, are very impressive (excluding the cut scenes).

I hope this starts a trend and we see other PS2 greats (ie, Shadow of the Collossus) brought back in HD. It really is a must-have, especially since GOW3 is practically a continuation from GOW2, including carrying over a bunch of supplemental abilities -- some that aren't explained in detail in GOW3.

But, back to the collection. I'd say kick up the difficulty, especially if you've already beaten it, and enjoy!

I think there are 2 groups of people reading this review. 1) You have never played GOW or 2) You have played the PS2 versions and wonder if it worths it to buy thisBlu-ray HD version.

Let me quickly address #1--YES and go click that buy button now! I have never played GOW 1 and rented GOW2 for 2-days, so when this HD collection came out, it was a no-brainer to me to buy. The gameplay was truly addicting and the environment and enemies were simply jaw dropping in HD. This worths $50+ if you have never played those 2 games.

Now if you have already beaten the original PS2 versions and wonder whether you should pay $37 for this collection, let me mention that this game also includes the GOW3 demo. It has about 20min of gameplay and when I was playing it my adrenaline was flowing like never before. The developers have made significant improvement to the gameplay, and I can tell that it will be the best PS3 game ever. And because of this and that the final trilogy does not come out until March 2010, if I were you I would defintely replay the HD collection just to "set up" GOW3!

Being that I'm part Greek, I am very biased with this game :). The story-line is great. The game-play is fun. Overall it's a phenomenal game that any gamer should have. A word of caution, this does follow Greek history in the sense of women wearing minimal clothing and sometimes exposing themselves. Who doesn't fantasize about being a god?

Got it so I could play GoW3. This game is awesome. Great control, gameplay, and graphics are all redone in HD. Cutscenes were not done, but no big deal as the rest of this game makes up for it. Well worth the play through and the cash especially now that you basically get 2 games, for half the price of one game!

I am hardcore PC Gamer: recently I bought a PS3 from best buy for not playing games, but for as a blu ray player+ web browser for my 46inch TV. I heard lot about the hype on GOW collection, and bought it from sellers on amazon. This is my first PS3 game: I should say, what a game to start with, recently I am not playing any games on my PC, instead i got hooked up with GOW on PS3. I never realized that PS3 games can be so awesome. Every penny is worth buying this game.

God of War has been near and dear to my heart since I've always loved mythology. God of War excels at making a gripping story around bits of mythology we may or may not remember from high school. The brutal kills and gore, I could probably take it or leave it, but the magic and weapons you acquire are great. They go right to my love of Metroid's game mechanic without ever being overly played out as it can sometimes get in the Metroid games. I love both the God of War games but never finished them when they originally came out. This goes to how challenging they can be at times. Yes, these games do have points in them where they are so challenging that you can easily get frustrated with them. You sit there and ask what kind of masochist designed these games but after you ultimate do get through a point, it's so rewarding.

The HD Collection is a great reason to not only to own a PS3, but a reason to actually try and beat the games this time. I already beat God of War for the first time last week and it was great. I'm now doing my best to get all the way through God of War II. If you're into these games and have any reason to pick up a PSP, definitely check out God of War Chains of Olympus. It's just as good if not better than it's big brother games though it does seem to be a bit short. It's probably about 1/3 the size of the other games. It's a shame they didn't include an upscaled version of Chains of Olympus as well. That would be a killer collection. Although you have to hand it to them for putting together the HD Collection in so short of time.

Like many of the other reviewers mention, if you're a fan of God of War and haven't played them to death already, you owe it to yourself to get this collection. If you're a new PS3 owner and looking for another great game then pick this one up. Make sure to check out Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Burnout Paradise, and InFamous as well.

I need to get back to playing God of War II now in hopes I'll be done before God of War III comes out. I've played the demo and it looks amazing.

I got to play GOW 1 and 2 on the PS2 and it looks so much better on the PS3. GOW has to be one of the best games ever created and it's even better on the PS3. It's truly a fun game that is a little challenging but not frustratingly so. It has a well-written story and even though the main character is anything but a "good person" you still grow to like him and oddly relate to him. The sequel is equally amazing and further explores Kratos and his world. If you really want the best PS series, get the God of War collection.
