I normally don't recommend any games. Being the first time I played the God of War series, I was shocked on what I missed out on. This is one of the best games I have ever played. The story is awesome, the puzzles are not mind boggling, level designs are amazing, action is intense and fluid. Once I put this game in, I couldn't stop playing it. I beat both games in a week and loved every second of it. If there was one game I could recommend to anyone, it'll be God of War. If I could get all my friends to play this I would. Get this before God of War 3 now!
The God of War franchise is one of my favorites. There is no better way to experience the world of ancient Greece and kick some serious butt than with these games!
While many other games are very repetitive, God of War is constantly changing things up with new bad guys and challenges. While the game challenges you with it's game play alone, the puzzles and hidden objects is a game in itself. This game stays on your mind even when you aren't playing. Definitely for adults only though as there is nudity involved.
Having owned these 2 games on PS2 and highly anticipating the release of God of War 3 I had to have this collection. When I first played these games on PS2 I was left in awe. I played them so many times that my PS2 controller is now damaged and does not function properly from all of the ass I kicked. Now they have come to the PS3 and are beautifully remasterd in hi-def. The in game graphics are wonderful, the cut scenes for some reason did not get upgraded to hi-def but I guess that can be overlooked though it can be annoying when it goes from being crystal clear to grainy and blurry. The demo for GOW3 blew me away, this game is going to be one of if not the best game of 2010. The only thing that could have made this package more awesome was if they would have included a upscaled version of Chains of Olympus. How awesome would that have been to play on the PS3 in hi-def? Anyway I am very happy with this game and I highly recommend it for any GoW fans or anyone curious about GoW.
The completed trilogy in my PS3, plus, old game with HD graphics, you must have it.
The two God of War games are two of the first video games that I bought when I purchased my PlayStation 3 which has backwards compatibility. I have since given the games to my brother in favor of the collection on Blu-Ray. I haven't played through them both again just yet, but they are proving to be just as exciting, breathtaking and addictive as they initially were. I've also read reviews from Game Informer, Official XBOX Magazine and PlayStation Magazine. Although they all provide great reviews, they list some downfalls which I don't agree with. First of all, the replay value for the games is HIGH, otherwise, we wouldn't all run out and purchase them all over again. Second, the graphics have improved as well as the framerate and while they do not hold up to today's standards as far as Modern Warfare 2 or God of War III, they are still far superior than many other games on the market. One of the biggest draws for me are the newly enabled trophies for both games. I don't chase trophies or achievements, but it is a little something extra to strive for.
I personally skipped the ps2 version of the game. After hearing so much buzz about this game, I decided to get the collection and boy did I enjoyed this a bit too much! Although you can tell the cutscenes are dated, but overall it's a great game and a great story(sorry i'm a big fan of greek mythologies, so I maybe bias on this)!
I beat God of War and God of War II on Playstation 2 more than two years ago, but ever since I got my PS3 (can't play PS2 games) I have missed playing two of the greatest action games ever created. Not only can I play these gems again, but the graphics have been cleaned up and enhanced in 1080p HD quality. The results are nothing short of stunning. They almost look as good as the new PS3 releases. Okay, the only negative is that the cut scenes weren't updated for some reason and look pretty weak when compared with the actual gameplay. Other than that, even if you already own the older versions, this is worth the upgrade. For those who haven't had the pleasure of playing, buy this now. It's over 20 hours of gameplay for $36.99 and that's just the first time you play through them. You will make return trips with the difficulty amped up. I can't wait until God of War III hits shelved early next year, but this collection will make the coming months a little more bearable.
Enough of this review writing for now. I suddenly have the urge to take control of Kratos and rip all sorts of creatures a new one, laughing as their blood rains down in glorious HD.
I was planning to buy a ps3 just for God of War 3. This was a huge bonus. Beautifully done rendition of quite possibly two of the best action games in the history of computer nerds.
A lot of great features packed into this collection. A fun game that puts a spin on Greek mythology, and keeps an upbeat pace. Do not expect to be blown away by the graphics, this is PS2 technology with a bit of upscaling - the end result looks really good though (just not like God of War III).
Good balance of fun, challenge, and entertainment.
For those of you who owned a PS2, you've likely played these games before. If you haven't, well now is the time to see what you have been missing. They are simply two of the best action/adventure games of all time on any platform. Fully remastered graphics in HD and full trophy support. I finished playing through both games yet again this weekend for the first time since I owned a PS2 and enjoyed them just as much as I did the first time around. I've got God of War 3 pre-ordered and can't wait to continue the saga!
I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that I was enjoying two PS2 games on a PS3. To be honest, this game is still better then alot of PS3 games. They did a good job re-doing the graphics. Nothing insanely fancy. Just true Widescreen, nice sharp graphics with no jaggies. Otherwise, its just about everything one could want from the original two, plus some extras just to sweaten the deal.
Even though I've played the first two on the PS2. I still recommend this to any PS3 owners. Its just a great couple of games now juiced up on one disc with trophies!
This is a definite must have! The graphics are amazing and the gameplay, as in ps2... GREAT!
My husband loves these games, so it was a great Christmas present. Just be careful around the fountain ;)
When i owned my ps2, i never had a chance to play the full gameplay of the GOD OF WAR games, and when saw the release of the GOD OF WAR COLLECTION, i was amazed , the collection with same gameplay but with the new ps3 technology to enhance play quality, i love this game , and now i get to appreciate this old games in my new system!!!
