Anyone that says that this game isn't that fun is obviously not playing it right. Well, that may be an opinion, but still, it's a really fun game. I don't know, it's like a game that I always have the want to play-- its got a good replay value.
If your a fan of the Dragonball Z tenkaichi games, then you will have a good time with this game. The only down hills in this game, are the fact that you can't use ultimate gohan and there are like 10 important characters missing from the game and the story mode is really long. And goku's Dragon fist is not in the game. Other than that this game is still fun, I give this game a 5/5.
IDGAF, i will play this game over and over and over. this is goin to be a good game and i get it tomrrw XD. Bt to some of these people out here dissin it. the very first dragonballz game came out it wasnt all that. neiter 2 and 3 or 10kaichi 1. they got better as they progressed along the franchise. this game is the second for ps3 there was 6 for ps2 plus the other 3 non budokais. sagas, super and infinite. So juss deal wit it nd Love the game.
From videos isaw and watchin people THIS GAME IS F-IN AMAZEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A great game with very few flaws. The combat is fun, and there's alot of content. The graphics are great if you like cell-shading. The camera isn't nearly as bad as some people claim, though it can be bothersome. The trophies are also quite difficult; don't be expecting a platinum anytime soon.
Overall, this was an awesome game. I definitely recommend it for DBZ fans.
I love this game! it's freaking amazing, I have owned or at least played different Dragon Ball games like this one, but this one is by far the BEST! I love it so much I decided to dedicate my first review on amazon to it! I think everyone who is a fan, or just like 3D fighting games to buy or at least try to play this game. You will fall in love too!!
this Game is worthy to buy, gives an excelent game play and graphics are amazin so like all de modes to play, in other words I love it the movements are very real so the caracters.
You must to play it and enjoy.
This game has a great concept and a lot of potentia, but also has some glitches that i just cant get down with. If you ever played any previous DBZ games, this one is kinda/somewhat similar to the budokia series. The game egine is of course different, but it reminds those games. The buttons are fairly easy, but still takes some getting used to. The game itself seems a little harder than any of the other DBZ games. The main problem that I have with this game is that the camrea angle can get a little funky from time to time. What I mean by that is during a match you can knock your opponent into a wall and then wont be able to see him or yourself when your right in his face. This can cause you to get beaten while your trying to figure out where you character is on the screen.
As a DBZ fan, when I first heared of this game I couldn't wait to play it. And after a month of digging up as much info as I could, my hype for it was swaying up and down. This game is the best DBZ game for PS3, after the joke that was Burst Limit. There are many things that make this game worthy of it's price, but other flaws that kill it's potential. I'll start with the good things:
Pros:
Graphics are unbelievable. Very focused and quick. The ki blasts could use a little work, but they aren't terrible, they're good enough.
They follow the story line well. And have a good amount of Battles to go with each saga.
Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta/Broly!
Tons of other fun modes: Story, Versus, Touney, Dragonball collection, Destruction, Team battle, Survival, K.O. Challange and a couple more.
Cons:
During battles in story modes, there is dialog from the anime being played. This kinda ruins the intensity of the fight, (Ex: During the fight with Jeice and Vegeta, the dialog of Jeice was being played, while in the battle I hit him with an ultimate attack. There's no way Jeice would be talking smack after Vegeta used Big Bang on him.)
For those who aren't too good with hand/eye coordination: The controls are funky, having to press 2 buttons at once just to elivate, Sway from punches and make quick counter attacks. This wasn't necissarily a problem for me, but I can understand how some people may find it difficult.
As awesomely fun as the game is, it's just not long enough. I started playing at 3 on a Saturday and was done by Sunday night (this was with breaks to have quick versus games with characters I'd unlocked). Also, in the "What If" section, some of the scenarios they came up with were just plain lousy (ex: Trunks and Vegeta vs. Goten and Goku all because of a peice of candy).
Not enough Characters. After BT3, I was hoping to have more than 70 characters. It's not the worst, but still, I'd like to have: Garlic Jr, King Vegeta, King Cold, Master Roshi, Uub, Pui Pui, Dabura, Hercule, etc...
This last one isn't really a flaw, more of a personal peeve. After unlocking all the characters I placed certain ones against eachother in Versus (ex: Bardock/Goku, Krillin/18, Gohan/Goku, Goten, Videl, Bardock, Vegeta/Teen Trunks, Trunks w/sword, Kid Trunks, and most of them have the one opening dialog, which kinda sucks. I've put Krillin and 18 together about 6 times and they always open with the same lines, it needs variaty in there.
That's about it. Overall, you see what I rated the game. I think it's worth the price, because it's very addictive. It's even better if you have some friends that want to play Versus with you for a couple of hours. Much fun, get it and enjoy it while you can.
You may think "oh boy, another dragon ball game".... But what I like about it is that it feels different. The different control play makes it feel as if you've never played this game before. It makes it feel new. Plus the graphics just looks great on the PS3 & HD TV
The game is great overall. Some minor problems I would like to add. Less combos than BT3. Your not able to pull off huge combos and everything is cut when it comes to the combo factor which really suffers to me. Lack of characters than BT3. This problem isn't a major one to me seeing how you have ssj3 vegeta and broly which is more of an incredible "newness". Graphics are incredible to me imo. I due wish that the beams and ki blast were more graphicly detailed and more adapt to BT3. Theirs not enough umph to the game when you compare it to bt3. I would like to inform you not to compare it to BT3. By doing so you will understand that this is a new realm that the creators are trying out. I due think that the game will be coming on the ps3 console that DBZ fans been wanting for so long and yes it will be in the realm of raging blast. Perhaps RB2 or RB3, but it's coming Online gaming is incredibly fun. I experianced no problem with it and enjoyed it greatly.
I want to see more characters: including turles gang, garlic jr spice boys and other out of game characters.
Dragon ball has not changed much since the first budokai tenkaichi. The only difference between this one and Tenkaichi 3 is that super/ultimate moves are controlled with the right stick. Oh and there are LESS characters to choose from. Tenkaichi 3 was better. While the game was still moderately fun, dragon ball is dead to me as far as I'm concerned, unless they step it up with the innovation...
This is the best DBZ game Ive ever played since DBZ Super sonic Warriors. This game is high speed action packed greatness. I just brought this yesterday and I'am loving it. You have over 70 character's in this game, and there all very great. Also? Their's SS3 Vegeta and SS3 Broly in this game in what if mode. Their's destructable enviorment's were you can beat your oppenet half silly. Actually? Full silly. This doesn't have GT or DB character's just the fresh DBZ character's.
This game has the Sayian saga, Frieza saga, Bardock saga, Android saga, and the Buu saga. Then their's the legendary super sayian saga and what if saga. What if saga is basically a saga where you do something that never happened in the serie's. For example. Their was never a SS3 Vegeta nor SS3 Broly in the DBZ movie's or serie's. Vageito and Gogeta never had a fight in the serie's either. And then kid trunk's never faced his future self either, and so on and so on. All that is in The what if saga.
Then You unlock SS3 Vegeta and SS3 Broly and you get to fight as them. Their's Museum where you can view the character's information and play their voice's and show replay's of the battle's you did with the Computer or friend you played in versus mode. Dojo is where you train to get better and learn attack's. Online mode is great too. There's world tournament where you can fight up to 16 player's. There's Super battle Trial where you fight ranked matches. This game is extreamly fun and you won't get bored of it. Buy this game.
I run a DBZ News Channel on YouTube and for the last 5 months I've been mostly reporting and anticipating what I thought would be the best game ever.
I was VERY disappointed in this game. Now I played the Wii version of Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and after playing this. Wow. I'm disappointed.
PROS:
- The graphics are great.
- Option to switch to Japanese audio
- Plenty to do (modes)
- Stages are larger
- Online World Tournament can be fun
- Super Attack Customization
CONS (ESPECIALLY LACK OF DEPTH):
- They took out way too many combos from BT3, it's ridiculous. YOU END UP DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, USUALLY SUPER ATTACKS. There's just no depth to this game, (there was a bit more in BT3) and I just got bored spamming Super Attacks.
- The camera in battle is just really awful, you're going to get horrible angles almost every fight that ruins the fun.
- There are way less characters and stages, and some important characters like Ultimate Gohan are gone.
- There is framerate problems and unresponsive control problems, doing Super Rising only works like 1/2 the time.
- Everything is more stiff and much slower-paced than BT3.
- The Story Mode combines the worst elements of BT2 and BT3. BT2's story mode was incredibly long, but well told. BT3's story mode was incredibly short, but poorly told (although it wasn't trying to, which was fine and enjoyable by me). Dragon Battle Collection IS LONG AND POORLY TOLD. To even get the story you have to read a paragraph recap.
- Collecting stars by replaying each Story Mode battle 3 times just isn't worth it.
- The controls are completely revamped, and in my opinion are not as good.
- I have a great internet connection and there was many communication errors while playing Online Mode, although there wasn't lag it was just hard to actually get to a battle.
- Playing Online may not be worth it because your opponent is most likely going to spam Super Attacks, which I can't blame since there's barely anything else you can do.
- Super Battle Trial is incredibly tedious to complete.
- Not enough new things added. Super Rising, Crashing into Walls, 2 new stage destructibility features and a really gimmicky weather change is it.
I'm disappointed in this game. Raging Blast 2 better be awesome, or its back to Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for me.
As a DBZ fan, it hurts to be this honest, but someone has to do it. I loved this game when I was going through the training, but as I played the Dragonball story missions, I noticed glitches, lagging and if you're planning on completing all of the sagas, there are some things you must know because you WILL notice them.
Pros
~ crazy game detail
it's amazing how you can see the faces of the opponents as you deliver a heavy blow.
~ Added features!
Like instant teleportation (or vanishing) whenever you want. You can't teleport close to your opponent if your far away, thought.
~ moves don't cover the whole battlefield like the other games.
~ Newly added moves called "signature skills" that are the hallmarks of the characters.
Instant tagging with other teammates. The designers have also included a tagging interception ability among other
~ manga-like cut scenes. I enjoy watching them. Also the opening cut scenes can be skipped-- there's nothing more annoying than unskippable cut scenes.
~ Never before seen characters
One word. Super Saiyan 3 Broly. Okay, maybe 3 words.
~ Amazing intricate customization system.
It's like a game in a game.
~ many game story scenarios-- I think there's one for every DBZ episode where there was fighting.
~ awesome loading game-- now you can get money while waiting for your game to load.
Cons
-- VEXING GAMEPLAY
At least once every 3 games, the game camera will loose you and your opponent, leaving you to blindly fight yourself out of a corner.
the action is off--
-- that is-- there is a lag between combos. This is especially obvious when your trying to link combos together.
-- Sometimes your melee attacks cause damage, but your opponents don't flinch. This sometimes happens when you're trying to link combos together.
-- Online versus:
INSANE online competition that takes advantage of game flaws.
Game is not as universal as previous versions
limited amount of combos
not as many characters as the games before.
-- laggiy moves
Some moves have a HUGE lag after you do them.
-- Sometimes impossible mission goals.
The game sometimes requires you hit your opponent with moves within a 5 second time span. The problem is-- the time to perform these actions, called "perfect actions", comes without warning. So, when the game tells you to use the ultimate attack, you have 5 seconds to power up to the max, find your opponent, and successfully use the attack.
-- glitch automatic lock off
Sometimes, your moves don't hit your opponent. You fight right past them as though they sidestepped-- but they didn't. This happens a lot when you start combos as your opponent gets up.
-- Perfect Actions:
These are moves you must successfully hit your opponent with in a 5 second time span. The problem is, if you're opponent is in the middle of a combo, or dashing away from you, or you don't have enough energy to complete the action-- you're screwed. I once had to repeat a mission 5 times.
-- objective glitches
Sometimes you will complete an objective, but the game will not show it as completed.
The voice acting is SO synchronized with the actual mouth movement, it is ridiculous.
-- Mission replay
If you want to complete any saga past the Saiyan Saga, you're going to have to repeat missions to earn "stars" which can help you buy missions to complete other sagas. This means you're going to have to complete each mission at least TWICE (assuming you never fail) Each bonus objective completed in addition to beat a mission has 3 stars
Trophies--
If you want that platinum-- and we all do--
I bought this game because it was half price at the local gamestop and i'm a huge Dragonball Z fan, even though i'd played the demo and knew that it would use the old annoying Tenkaichi fighting style. But even though I had a preconception towards disliking the game i had to get it because........... c'mon SS3 Broly people!!!!! So i bought the game and played the tutorial to pick up some skill with the game. the tutorial was easy enough except this HORRENDOUS thing with the super-deflect technique. I can't do it, it's just impossible, every time i try i teleport away (Which is 10,000 times more effective btw) but the game insisted that i learn it. So then i get to story mode and it's just plain unfair. Make Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha defeat Piccolo. Easy, right? WRONG!!!! because piccolo gets 7 hit bars and the CPU can play the game as fluidly as a stream while i play like a puddle. In the first 30 seconds of fight Piccolo took out 2/3 of my health IN ONE COMBO!!!! And when i finally got the hang of playing, they switched my to Chiaotzu. And Chiaotzu just drops dead. The game is unforgivably difficult with 0 combos and the tendency to infinite-loop the 2 combos it does have. And thus it gets 2 stars (i added one because i felt my personal bias against tenkaichi games and lack of skill MIGHT compensate for 1 star.)
