First of all, before bashing my review u must know that i only play for the single-player campaign. I'll start by saying that this game is not for those who play single player only. I beat the game in little more than 6 hours on veteran difficulty. After that, I do not see much incentive to play it over again since the plot has so many twists and turn it gets a bit confusing. Not really big on getting trophies either and there arent as much for single player anyway. Unfortunately for me, the fun lies in online multiplayer. For those of you who play online you should definitely buy this game. Infinite replay value plus the best graphics you've ever seen on a FPS. Otherwise i suggest a rental since the game is incredibly short.

This game is easily the best game I've ever played in my entire life. The best gun game, topping all of the other CODs and all of the Halos. The graphics are so amazing. Tactical Nukes were the best idea in this game. Nuke: game over. Incredible. That's all I have to say about the best game ever made.

I have to admit I bought into the hype for this game and was somewhat let down. Having played Call of Duty 1, 2 and the expansions on the PC. As well as playing most medal of honor games on the PC. This game simply did not improve much on the success of those franchises. Frankly I'm not sure I liked the single player campaign as much as I did the previous games (after completing the campaign my initial experience was lukewarm compared to games that are 5+ years old). Granted the graphical qualities and presentation were second to none, ultimately the game still followed the all too familiar formula for military first person shooters. Even though the single player was short I was ready for it to be over. Frankly I am glad I had never picked up Call of Duty 4 or 5 for PS3 because if I had spent time with those I'm sure I would have been REALLY dissapointed in this next entry in the franchise.

That is not to say there were not positive elements, as most "big budget" games will have their share of pros and cons.

The positive:

-Visually impressive on PS3 and in HD (as I'm sure it is also on XBOX360 and even greater on max settings for PC).

-Sound effects and music score are also grand

-Great theatrics, more compelling than average story (vs. the old hat WW2 games).

-To further the above point, the Washington DC missions, particularly where you emerge out of the bunker before familiar DC landmarks were particularly epic and memorable

-Special Ops mode somewhat makes up for shortish/formulaic campaign

The negatives:

-To many scripted moments

-Hated the "on rails" sections, although that's somewhat standard far for Call of Duty nowadays.

-Even during the better parts of the gameplay, you are herded into a specific route too much for my liking (I'm sure this is done so you are always "in position" for the next scripted moment). I knew this game was not going to be open world, but this really is too limiting and claustrophobic feeling for a game released in 2009.

-No tanks, the snowmobile driving and ending whitewater/raft scene were ABOMINATIONS of gameplay.

-Really nothing particularly innovative or different as far as gameplay from something you might have played 10 years ago.

-Multiplayer is not particularly impressive either. Not horrible, but compared to many of the PC shooters (even several year old ones) the console versions of this game do not really stand up. Even on PS3 I think I still prefer Battlefield:Bad Company to this game. Right now my expectation is Bad Company 2 should be a superior online experience for PS3.

Ultimately this is an average first person shooter. Worth having for fans of the genre, or of the last game. But certainly not an essential game by any stretch, it is too formulaic to be essential. I suppose it was worth the purchase, but only because Amazon.com offered a nice incentive to pre-order. I'm not sure this game would be worth my money at full retail value.

This was a perfect follow-up to the first game. The story and action packed sequences made it hard to put down the controller. Also, the multiplayer has expanded a lot and is even more addictive than MW1 or World at War. Between the amazing story, addictive multiplayer, and challenging new Special Ops missions, you won't be able to stop playing but it's worth the time.

The new MW2 is a great game. The story line is better than the last and the diversity of levels and conditions is good. The Spec Ops mode is a definite plus as you are challenged to continue to improve upon your capabilities as a gamer. It also gives you a chance to play online or at home with a friend to complete challenging missions. The online multiplayer is definitely where it's at though. There are more weapons and combinations for create a class and the challenges apply to all that you do. The new gameplay is catered to every crowd. Some bits of all kinds of first person shooter games are included in the multiplayer mode so this will surely please any FPS lover. Definitely worth every penny spent.

This is one of the best war simulations I have ever played. The graphics are second to none and the overall storyline keeps you guessing what is going to happen next. There are a large number of weapons available and I especially enjoyed flying the Predator Drone. If you enjoy combat simulations, set in the modern age, then this is the game for you.

Amazon actually had this game cheaper than anyone else. It was for Christmas and save me a little money. Thanks Amazon.

Very fun online mode, and interesting intel spec ops mode to play with friends. The story mode if your not a player of MW1 maybe confusing but the story and music is great! A bit short but still worth the bang for the buck.

This is the first FPS game that I bought in probably over 5 years, and I had a blast. If you're a casual gamer like me, and just want some eye candy and an easy to follow game where you shoot down the bad guys...this is it. The campaign mode is pretty short I guess, around 6 hours of play time. But the online gameplay is nice, and it's a good game to have when friends come over and you want a split-screen shooter. Overall, it's a fun game; it's easy to pick up and you get to shoot down a bunch of russkies.

The online experience this franchise has created is unmatched. Those who've played before will be excited for new challenges, greater perks, and high quality maps. Those who haven't will be pleased.

'Nuff said. :)

MWF2 is definitely much better than Modern Warfare fist generation.

I would recommend to purchase.

...Amazon.com really screwed this over for me. I paid for release day delivery. Apparently my package was checked in at 12:40 am on 11.10.09 at UPS and it has been in Las Vegas here since 6:00am however since Amazon.com was 40 minutes late getting the package checked in last night, UPS rescheduled my delivery for tomorrow. UPS tried everything to help me but technically since it was 40 minutes late their supervisors cannot do anything. Amazon.com did refund my overnight delivery fee but I still can't play the game. The worst part is I could have bought the game last night/this morning at a local store but I decided to give Amazon.com my business because I've never had a problem with them before. I can't even cancel the order now and just go buy it at the store. Will never buy from Amazon.com again because they couldn't get this right even though I pre-ordered it over a week ago.
