As much as I thought that the first Modern Warfare was simply amazing, they have once again topped themselves. The guys at Infinity Ward have turned out an amazing game. Visually stunning, audio and score are top notch and unsurpassed game play make this game a must have. In my opinion, this is simply the best game ever.

This has to be one of the most popular PS3 games to date. I know my review will get lost in a sea of opinions, but it's time for my two cents.

The game is fantastically beautiful to play. The land and city-scapes are picturesque. The movement is silky smooth at what appears to be 60fps. And even in multiplayer mode the controls are tight and responsive. That's what makes the whole experience so rewarding.

One negative note: I feel that long killstreaks (20+) are too prevalent. I've been nuked a few times now and I don't enjoy the game ending so abruptly. The real problem is that once you get 11 kills you can get the ridiculously overpowered AC gunship. At that point getting to a massive killstreak gets so much easier. This could be fixed with simple adjustments to the required number of kills to obtain these rewards. I hope it does.

I think this is the cutting-edge, state-of-the art FPS for 2009. It's not innovative, it's not groundbreaking. In fact, it's pretty formulaic save for the fact it's not WW2-based. But it pulls the whole package off with such polish that you can't help but play on.

This game is Really FUN. The story is short (or at least seems short)but the story is really good.

Online play is very addictive. It is easy to level up and u get to customize your kill and deathstreaks.

They also have many titles and emblems to show off wich is pretty cool. If u want a really awesome and incredibale game by this one !

If you like first person shooters and exciting campains this might be the game for you. Modern warfare 2 stays true to its roots, giving you a very challenging and interesting campain mode. However the online multiplayer just doesnt stack up, espescialy compared to games like battlefield bad company, etc. Theres not much to do besides run around and shoot other players, which might be tolerable if more than 12 people could play at once. It gives the impression that there are vehicles to drive and lots of weapons and online game modes, however there are only a few game modes, and there the ones that it has always had. There are no vehicles to drive, and no real objective, except to shoot other players for points and to rank up.Bottom line is that it feels like a slightly updated version of all the previous versions of this game.

All the anticipation and hype for this game was well deserved. The follow-up to the successful Modern Warfare, I think this game did an excellent job keeping in line with what the first game did so well - online game play, excellent realistic graphics as well as expanded levels of play.

Although the game gives you new weapons, levels, and perks (expanded to the losing side too), the feel is similar to CoD:MW. Newcomers will probably have a harder time because most of the online community for this game is advanced and the pace seems faster than its predecessor. Also newcomers will have a harder time understanding the best combination of weapons and perks that works best for them. This could potentially turn them off. If they stick it out or master the single player/special ops mode (recommended to try at least once), then they can make quick progression to the online community.

All in all, this game is great and addictive - its one of the few games I actually bought new and feel is worth the $60 price because of its longetivity, excellent foundation of gameplay, and strong support from the manufacturer.

After watching my son play COD4 I decided to get back into shooter video games at age 58 with MW2 and see if it was still possible to do this at my age. Yes, at first I got killed a whole lot in multiplayer mode (1 kill for 14 deaths). I will never handle a sniper rifle like "Hutch" on his youtube videos. But this game allows treachery and old age to defeat youth and inexperience if you just work on one special skill at a time. Pick up the knife on recon from day one. You can run like the breeze and defeat any player from the side or behind once you get the timing down and learn how to ambush (mostly from others doing it to you!). A lot of players use nothing else. Set the controls to "Tactical" and practice the drop shot, then you begin to out-duel some of those lightening fast 15 year olds who wonder where you disappeared to and why their feet are full of holes. There are thousands of possible combinations of weapons/tactics/contests so that you can build your own special skill and really have fun. I am now half way through my second prestige level with maybe 6000 kills under my belt and will never quit. For all you, ahem, senior players out there, when the kids are at school, pick up that controller and do some mayhem. You will be amazed at the sophistication and lifelike reality that computer games now have. This game gets a solid five stars from me, and keeps me young.

I never played the other COD's but I bought this one a little while after it came out. Its a really fun game (I like the co op mode best) but the online play can sometimes get on your nervs. Sometimes it lags and the shooting accuracy could be a little better but overall its a pretty good game.

This game is amazing! I haven't finished the signal player yet but so far its freaking sick! The online was only down for a little maintenance and is now back up and perfect! I was playing till one in the morning on 11/10/09. Great sequel online has way better guns and all the little things that were annoying in the 4th game are perfect in this one!

My first review was for the Hardened Edition. Plus, I did not beat the game or played the other modes. Since beating the campaign mode and playing the other modes, this is the latest review of MW2.

Gameplay

It is virtually the same as the other COD games. The controls are the same. If a player has played the other version, there is no need learn new controls.

Campaign

The campaign is not that long, but who cares ?!The story of the game is like no other. I know this may sound cliché', but MW2 is a lot like playing in a movie. Players are able to do a few new things, such as be a gunner on a humvee, ride snow mobiles and boats.

Some missions offer something new. The experience on the level "No Russian" is like no other COD or gaming experience. Anyhow, I must warn buyers, the stage may not be suitable for all viewers. I am not going to spoil it, though.

Other missions allow the player to do new tactics, such as breaching and clearing rooms. In addition, once the breaching takes place, the game goes into slo-mo. While shooting, everything is slowing flying through the air. Sometimes, it is hard to pinpoint exactly where the enemy is. Still, this new option is cool because you have time to just shoot each enemy before they try to kill a hostage. Still, a player must hurry. The slo-mo doesn't last long. Just breach and clear as fast as you can!!!! That new installment is cool.

Some levels can be extremely hard, especially "Favela". No matter how skilled a player may think he is, he is going to get his share of deaths. I consider that good. I mean, who wants to play a game, which they can just play, without being killed? Some other surprises happen in the story, which I will not spoil.

I must mention, the story is a little confusing. Still, the experience is so good, it doesn't matter. In fact, for those who have beaten it, playing it again may put the puzzle pieces together.

Enemy AI

The enemies are a little more intelligent than the previous versions. They waste not time flanking and running for cover, so they can get a better shot. Not to mention, they have a ton of customizable weaponry. Once a weapon is picked up off an enemy, the player would swear he is playing online because of the customizable parts on the weapons.

Online

This version has more upgrades than COD4MW and CODWAW combined. Aside from weapon upgrades, the upgrades, which involve Kill Streaks is like no other. Players can do new things, such as jam UAVs, send stealth bombers, C-130s, harriers and fire guided missiles from above. If a player is skilled enough to get 25 straight kills, he can order a nuclear attack. The player now has the ability to even change Kill Streak attacks. A player is no longer stuck with just three kill streak attacks. Also, kills are worth more points, now. Players can upgrade a lot faster than the previous versions.

New attacks, such as the knife throw has been installed in this game. Once a player kills another with a knife, he has the option to pick it up. That is really cool. Don't forget not to confuse it with the grenade. I have made the mistake of thinking I had a grenade, when I had a knife.

The weapons are more powerful. Now, if player gets a couple of shots on another, he is dead. It does not take a lot of shots, unlike the other CODs. Then, it seemed like a player may have to empty a clip, sometimes.

Spec Ops

This new mode is made up of side missions, which take place in similar levels of the campaign mode. Some are new. The stages get additionally challenging; the further along a player goes. Many missions, such as races, breaching missions, sniping missions, and bombing missions are a part of Spec Ops.

Despite what some critics (not many) say, overall, this game is truly worth owning. Every experience of this game makes it a definite buy. Not to mention, the new mode (Spec Ops) and the extremely deep online play will make this game a constant play for at least a couple of years.

My Experience:

Being I am an OG, from the 70's my reaction times are slowing down and I know it. I actually enjoy the campaign modes in these games. Which is why I am giving it a 2 star. I am sure people will blast me because the MULTIPLAYER IS WHERE ITS AT MAN!!! OMGWTROXXORZ.!11. I agree that the multiplayer can be fun, but this is a review of the game as it stands.

Campaign Mode: ***** 5 star

First off the campaign mode. The graphics and scenes are so absolutely beautiful I would give this a 5 star hands down, it is what brought this title up from a 1 star. From the basic places like the airport in the mountains. The snow, the weather, it all seems to be so very real and inviting. When you have to take back the White House it is breathtaking from the color of the sky to the helicopters crashing all around you. Wonderful, epic and left me wanting more. Which, leads us to the reason I want to give this a 1 star.

Campaign Story: 0000* 1 star

The campaign mode is ridiculously short. I wanted to take my time taking it all in and several missions push you the whole time to GO GO GO!!! which is expected due to the insane pace of the enemies. It really sucks you in and makes you feel part of it. The major issue with the campaign is the incredibly weak story. They never explain why anything has happened, the dialogue between the characters is full of hyperbole and patriotic fluff. I realize the world thinks Americans are a bunch of yahoo cowboys, but come on with the brainless pointless dialogue.

Now lets discuss the 10,000 pound gorilla in the room.

Multiplayer 0000* 1 star

I understand its my lack of skillzorz that makes the multiplayer frustrating. That does not mean that I have to give a game I do not enjoy anything more than I have. The new titles and other 1337 embellishments they have thrown into the multiplayer has done nothing but polish what I perceive as a pile of excrement. Playing with a friend can make multiplayer a bit more fun. Going into a game where only 2 out of 8 have a mic, where most are young kids, and some have voice modifiers so we dont know they are kids(yea right Darth), is nothing short of pure hell. Its not fun, nor is it the reason I got this game.

After playing such epics as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune & Uncharted 2: Among Thieves this game pales in comparison for the depth of characters, re-playability, and overall scope. I am not a glutton for punishment so games like Demon's Souls have little appeal to me. I have a family, job and other things taking up my time (like Amazon reviews), so a 2-3 hour frag fest where I am repeatedly killed over and over holds no appeal to me either.

For the -Not Helpful- voters:

I am sure this review will garner a fair share of negative votes. Just remember you too are entitled to your opinion and you too can write a review on any product and YOUR experience with that product. My experience with this product, while amazing, was brief and ultimately very frustrating. If this was a review of a new electric toothbrush and that toothbrush shocked you every time you used it, you too could come here and write about it was a pain to use. Reviews are not meant as an -I am a fan or I hate it-, instead it is meant as a way to let customers hear a varied and alternative view of a product. I think overall Activision did a pretty good job with this game. The soundtrack was spot on and sounded great. But making the game as a single player and a multiplayer means its not excellent at either one. Sure your Honda Civic can go off-road but eh, do you think it will hold up well?

Pros:

>> Beautiful animations

>> Epic scenes

>> Motion capture is fantastic

>> Fantastic soundtrack

Cons:

<< Story is disjointed and weak

<< Campaign is very short

<< Relying on this game to be 100% multiplayer experience means that it never works well as a single player game.

Summary:

This game was made as a multiplayer game with a campaign thrown in as a disjointed storyline that never grabs hold and engages, partly because it is too short.

Thank you for reading my review. I WILL take any discussions, so if you feel like chatting about it, please feel free to leave a comment.

Been watching my nephews play all the previous games and I decided to give it a try. I was hooked from day one, I thought it was awesome how it sets itself to your level of experience. Even though I wish my husband and I could save our separate info, we have fun... enjoy, it won't let you down!
