Not much to say, great graphics and gameplay, average soundtrack the only negative was that it was too short.

Online is great as well as playing in two.

The Call of Duty control scheme and play mechanics are the bar that all other FPS games are judged on.

This series does so many things great, it's only natural that people will start getting nit picky with it. People may get pickier, but sales on the game keep going up, up, UP!

The MW2 campaign is a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Getting dropped into a completely new and exciting environment every level appeals to my ADD side. IMO the less story, the better, in this type of game.

The Veteran difficulty is much easier than previous installments. This could be seen as a plus or minus.

I'm bad at COD multi-player, but being bad in this one is much more satisfying. Lots of perks and fun to be had, even with a bad K/D ratio.

Spec Ops has a lot of great challenges to share with a friend. It can be much more difficult than the Veteran campaign.

I have both the PS3 and 360 version. These are the differences I noticed:

360 has higher gameplay frame rates, especially in smoke, dust or fog filled areas.

The loading scenes on the 360 are highly compressed and jerky.

360 loads maps substantially quicker.

On both versions party joins and chat are screwy. They probably shouldn't have messed with that part.

That's about it, but it's pretty safe to assume you already own this title.

modern warfare2 is one of the best video games i have ever played. I'm not that extreme of a gamer, but when I first played this at my cousin's house my sister and I grew obsessive over this game. So, after waiting 3 weeks, we decided to buy a ps3 just for modern warfare. Now i'm in love with shooter games.

-yes, the campaign mode is very short, but it's one heck of a ride. When I was playing, I felt my palms sweating. Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but the game certainly had an impact on me. It was a great experience.

-the graphics are amazing! couldn't ask for more. Even the online play looks great.

-extremely addicting and fun.

cons:

only con is that the server breaks up often during the online play. it doesn't happen often, but it gets really annoying when you're in the middle of a game and it just disconnects.

this is worth every penny! get it!

I have never been much of a Call of Duty fan. I haven't played any since the 2nd, and it didn't look like anything interesting to me. Plus the whole military side of it is kind of a turn-off. Not that I don't like the military, but I don't exactly like how they glorified being in the military with these games in general. However, the review on gamespot made me want to buy this right away. Not only are the graphics top-notch, but the gameplay is absolutely amazing. I have never played a FPS that has immersed me so much in such a long time. I got through the campaign on the second hardest difficulty in about 2-3 days, and I loved every minute of it. There were some missions that were downright merciless, but that just made the victory that much sweeter. I have yet to try online or special ops, but I am looking forward to tackling those areas soon enough.

And about the story...this story is not your typical series of heroics. This is a very intriguing, and in some ways disturbing, "what if" scenario that had me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next. I've played Killzone 2 and Resistance 2, but neither of them even come close to comparing to the sheer adventure brought by this game. The guns are all great (very similar to the Rainbow Six games), the characters are very believable, and the twists and turns of the story make you want to keep playing just one more mission...even though it ultimately amounts to you playing at least 3 or 4 more, lol. So if you want a top-notch FPS with a great story, by this now!

I picked this game up because I was a huge fan of the first Modern Warfare and I can honestly say I love this game way more then the first! I started playing this game when i got home from school one day with the intent to play maybe 1 mission...5 hours later im still playing and cant seem to turn the game off its simply that amazing. Some of the guns from the first game are now in the second but a few did not make the cut. While we lost some guns we gained twice as many new guns that are even better. I find the story to be simply amazing! I cant find anything wrong with it or anything else in this game except for the fact that it ends...

I'll begin this review by stating I have not even attempted multiplayer, and have only completed the single player campaign. I buy video games for mostly the single player campaign, therefore my review will be biased accordingly.

The weapons, graphics, and controls are all top notch, perhaps even superior to the previous.

My gripe is with the single player campaign and with the accompanying storyline. There are a few too many sub-plots, and the story is inadequately presented to the player as the single player is ridiculously too short for the amount of plots that are revolving around. You have control of 4-5 people throughout the campaign, are double-crossed 2-3 times, and the story just whirlwinds out of control.

The original individual who was double-crossed, while provoking a war which results in the U.S. getting hammered by Russia, and the man responsible when it's all said and done at the end, is...not even scratched. Somewhere in the middle General Shepherd double-crosses Task Force 141 (British SAS), and the story takes a U-Turn and you play a 6 minute mission to end the game and kill Shepherd. To me it was all anti-climatic and un-resolved.

I understand what they were TRYING to do, but they just didn't pull it off. A campaign with as many twists and turns and characters played requires more thoroughness than what was provided. I certainly hope the Multiplayer makes up for the so-so campaign. Given the previous Modern Warfare I was expecting a similar output, but unfortunately that just isn't the case this time around.

Flame away, ladies.

I purchased this game quite frankly just to play online. I used to play COD on PC back in the day so I figured I'd give this a shot. I didn't realize how many of my free hours would be used up by playing MW2. If so I probably wouldn't have bought it. It's the most addicting game I've ever played. I love the fact that you can level up and unlock weapons and all kinds of other things. I would recommend this game to any adult. Look me up... MrJBot

Nothing will recreate the excitement or magic of COD4: Modern Warfare. COD World at War had a great campaign, the online was fun in its own right, not Modern Warfare but definitely a good time. When it comes down to MW2 here is my pros and cons list;

Pros

Perks are amazing

graphics are great

Story was fun and great to experience (although short and the plot was thrown together)

Weapons Excellent

Cons

No Dogs (sorry I Liked them)

Ridiculously Big Maps (People complained about World at War Maps, these are 10x bigger, annoying after awhile)

Doesn't show parties like in COD:WAW when you hit start

Nuclear Blast...at first it was cool to watch, but people like my brother who do it all the time takes the fun out of it.

No Dome or Shipment (Nuff said on that)

This game is a must have for anyone who loves first-person shooter games. The graphics are insane, maps are huge and gives a large variety to choose from. Online play is where it's at though! Many upgrades from the original - too many to list. Would highly recommend getting this game. In my opinion it's the best video game out there to date!

I found this game to be very fun. I do like shooting games, especially if its the military. The graphics and sounds are awesome. There's really no story mode. One mission you are playing a character in one part of the world and in the next, you are someone else in a different part of the world. In some missions, I think controlling drone aircraft is a cheap and fast way to finish a mission. I prefer to go all rambo and kill everybody myself than to use missiles from the drone.

Anyway, here are some things I wish I was able to do in this game:

1) Lean or peak around corners. Seriously, who attacks an enemy with their full body exposed? You can crouch or go prone, but you are still exposed to enemy fire.

2) I would like to jump over stuff. Of course, if they put this in there, you might fall off the map. lol

3) Ability to take cover behind objects and shoot your gun over the object. For example, if you hide behind a car, you have to stand up or move away from the car to shoot. I prefer to stay crouch and covered behind the car and shoot while taking cover. I guess you can push the buttons to stand up to shoot and crouch to take cover again, but thats too much work.

Bottom line: You are better off renting this game because it only takes less than a week to finish the campaign. I played about 4-5 hrs a day and finish it in 3 days. If you like playing online, there's far better shooting games than this.

An absolute blast (no pun intended) however...after hearing "I think we need to rethink our strategy" about 500 times...I did want to find the person in the game saying it and shoot him...Great gameplay, fantastic graphics, intense story line. The mission that you have to agree to because it might be disturbing...IS disturbing.

Taken as a whole, this is a great game. The solo (campaign) mode is relatively short (can be completed within a night) and can prep you well for the multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode is really the crux of the game - lots of weapons and really well planned maps. I've been a fan of FPS games and while it may not be substantially different from the first COD, it's a great sequel to the franchise.
