Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is easily the best video game I have ever played. When I first played it before I owned it, I knew that I had to get this game right away. I knew I trusted Amazon.com because they always have the best price and ship right away. I placed the order on June 22, 2010 for 43.72 with 3.99 shipping. I was hoping to have it by the 27, and I received it on the 25. I have also purchased idems previously on Amazon for a reasonable price and shipping and recieved them within about 3-5 days. I would defenetly recomend Amazon for online shopping, they have not dissapointed me once.

Let me preface my review by admitting that I rarely play online.

I enjoy playing the single player storyline from start to finish, and I primarily stick with that.

So, this review is based on my observations & game play from a single player point of view.

Pros

+ Story is familiar and continues where the first left off.

+ Switching between characters provides some different scenes and roles.

+ It's easy enough for even inexperienced players to jump in and start the action.

+ The graphics and AI were pretty darn good.

Cons

- It's short...most people will finish in less than 6 hours on regular.

- The ending leaves a lot to be desired. I understand leaving something unfinished, but it doesn't really end at all.

- The bells and whistles of the game seems to be geared towards playing online

Regarding Online Play

While I understand the market for it, I just don't want to the single player action left with nothing in the future...

I'm sure there are a lot of folks who play offline in single player mode, you just may not hear from them as much.

The game is worth playing though, and I enjoyed it...but couldn't give it a perfect score because of these points.

I always read reviews for a game before I make the decision to buy a game. Even if I think I will like the game very much, I wait to see reviews so that I can know what to expect from a game. After reading some of the reviews for MW2, i felt that some people were not putting much thought into their reviews.

First of all, one of the first complaints I started hearing about MW2 was the Single Player campaign. Many said that primarily it was too short and that it had no new elements and borderline boring. After playing through the single-player however, I was captivated by the story. (*Spoiler*) You have a mission were you are climbing an Ice wall in order to infiltrate enemy lines. Then you have a mission where you come through the bottom of an oil rig through a submarine!!! And who can forget the the mission that has you fighting in a destroyed and chaotic scene amongst the Washington Memorial. To me, the single-player was amazing and if some complain about it being too easy and boring then play it on veteran, that should take you some time.

Secondly, reviewers claimed the multi-player sucks!! It may be that people simply had unrealistic expectations for the MP. I thought the changes like, upgradeable perks, customizable killstreaks, awsome new perks like Bling for instance. and Who doesn't think that the Model 1887 with akimbo and FMJ owns all!! It can be possible that some people played COD4 MP way too much and got tired of it. However, I feel that MW2 MP has enough new content to keep me content for a while.

I almost felt discouraged to get this game after reading some people's reviews, but I decided to get it after all and Im glad I did. This is really a great game. and if you think it is not, then you might be expecting a little too much from a video game.

Amazing game! Awesome story line...even more fun online multiplayer with friends also if ur gonna be playing online its better to buy this game for PS3 because online is FREE and 360 is not! Even if ur not a huge fan of FPS this game could change ur mind.

My dad-in-law bought a PS3 and had Call of duty modern warfare 1 on it, I borrowed the console from it and was blown away by the game despite never being into shooting games in the past. He then bought modern warfare 2 and I was absolutely stunned by the gameplay, graphics, realism, experience, so I went out and bought a PS3 and a copy of this game. To this day it's the only game I own for the console and I still love it, online play never gets old as it's a constant battle to outsmart and out-skill your opponents! I've played demos of other first person shooters but wasn't impressed, nothing seems to even come close to the gameplay and the amount of detail and thought put into every aspect.

It is rated for mature people, but I bought it for 17 year boy as a Christmas gift. I occasionally played it with the boy and enjoyed playing it. Initially I had difficulties controlling the game character, but I finally was able to control the character and to aim targets. Graphic and sound are so realistic that I felt like I was in the middle of real battle and fear of getting killed. IMHO, this game is absolutely for mature people and a not for under aged children.

I just completed the campaign and it was excellent, although a little short. The graphics, sound etc were the best I have seen. I recently bought a PS3 especially for this game and it didn't disappoint.

I am looking forward to trying this again at a slower pace at a more difficult level. The story is interesting with plenty of twists. If you are a COD fan, then I recommend that you purchase this game.

I have not tried the online or multiplayer yet.

Modern Warfare 2 is simply fun and interesting. The game prides itself on having numerous and expansive multiplayer options. Since none of the options are listed up here I shall detail a few here. (all modes collect experience points)

OffLine Local Player

There are 9 modes here with support for up to 4 players per PS3 system. All of the perks and even unlockables carried over from online multiplayer can be carried over here. Essentially this is an experience that all will enjoy.

LAN

LAN support is available too with support for up to 18 players (1 per console) All modes of online multiplayer are supported

Online

The experience reserved for just one player per PS3 system but up to 18 players online. There are over 14 different games types (with two types set in the third person perspective). The main thrill of MW2 is this mode and will surely keep people coming back for more. With a release date amount of players exceeding more than 250,000 players online, this mode will never be empty anytime soon. The addition and expansion of killstreaks (using additional weapons) is a great addition.

Special Ops (offline (2 per console), online 2 people), an expansive co-op experience that is separate from that of the single player game. Estimated time appears to have taken me longer than the 5 or so hour single player mode. Anyway, without spoiling the story, the game is essentially as great and dramatic as the story mode and gameplay in the single player mode.

Single Player: Features a campaign that appears to continue from the first Modern Warfare though I never played it and the stage has been set up well. It is a bit hard to follow at times but the action of fighting terrorist who somehow invade the USA and other places around the world is fun and a great extension on reality (fighting also takes place right in northern VA).

Mechanics wise, the game features easy to learn First Person shooter controls with multiple types, there seems to be over 60+ different weapons, some with different modes, area of effect special weapons (like an airstrike missle). AI that seems to still survive after shooting them in the legs and whom will keep firing at you, tons of militia combatants, amazing graphics (bloodsplatter is a nice addition but gets annoying at times when combined with smoke grenades, the area of vision is essentially null. This game isnt the best looking game on the PS3 but it surely is in the top tier of PS3 and great graphic titles. Hans Zimmer compositions are perfect for the game and the soundtrack moving/emotional to match the atmosphere, voice actors are on par and not too over the top (McTaverish has an amazing voice actor), the cutscenes during the loading screens are amazing at capturing the mission brief, and some of the flyovers during the game are amazing at showing the scope of the devastation of modern warfare.

Needless to say, if you have friends and/or looking for a game to keep you hooked to multiplayer then this is it. If you just want something for a single player experience, I would suggest renting the game since the campaign mode can essentially be beat in just an afternoon setting.

First of all, I will we clear, you are going to enjoy this game, its a very good one. Sadly, the hype that this one had, just killed it, why?? Well I was a very huge fan of MW1, I was sick of Halo, hated it after too much, and MW1 just came in the right time, managed to make me love FPS after all, I am really one mind(gaming of course in this case), I like games like Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Little Big planet, Gears of War, God of War of Course...) And this one is one, or maybe the one game I was waiting for between many the most. It started really well, but it only lasted few minutes. Not as Uncharted 2, which really hooked me up like no other game this generation before. Maybe I am not being comprehensive comparing, but its inevitably. Why? Because while playing MW2, I couldn't handle thinkin', what if Infinity Ward should have make this like Naughty Dog.. or so.. it was my reference, in every aspect, also Online. Which is great in this game, but Uncharted is just to a lot wore refreshing, instead in MW2, its more of the same with few, really few extras, and of course new scenarios.

Don't take me wrong, its a great game. but if you have a PS3 at least, and you are planning to buy a game that truly is worth your money, and you only have money for one, pick Uncharted... and enjoy it, Believe me, it will last. and then take this one, few months later, maybe a little cheaper, or used, its worth it to but not woth at the same time, you'll byt this one to rest. But to be honest, not all of us have that much time to spend on 2 different games, then pick the best first, then at a cheaper price point few months later, the other. or get 3 other games for 19.99 each.. which is what I should have done instead of buying this one now... like mirrors edge, bioshock, midnight club GH, etc.. then I'll just have to wait.

Previously: Ohh why 1 star?? its because my disapointment vs Uncharted 2, otherwise maybe the second best game of the year. For x360 players, well, its the best choice this year undoubtedly.

PD. remembering, I enjoyed Killzone's 2 story more, not the end of it, as a whole, graphically and on physics, its far more realistic, but slower, diferent kind of game though.

Update: I''ll give this game 5 stars because it deserve them. this means Uncharted deserves at least 6 or 7 if possible. If you're into FPS, specially arcade style ones (Killzone is not Arcade style), This is simply your best option, period.

I bought this game for my grandson to play on our PS3. I was amazed at the graphics - especially the characters. When I first saw them I thought they were human actors and not graphic representations. The action is fast paced and realistic. We play it with our 5.1 Sony surround system turned up and the house seems to shake.

I've been playing all versions of Call of Duty since the beginning on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. I bought my Xbox 360 to play COD 3 and played Modern Warfare 2 on my PS3 device. This game has been an amazing game and I really love that. This version has some improvements in the game play and scenes. I didn't expect less than this from this game series. It is strongly recommended.

Modern Warfare 2 needless to say is the most anticipated game of 2009. Every first person shooter has to have 1) great controls 2) great feel 3) great presentation and overall a great feel. The first Modern Warfare was a great surprise in 2007, although the hype around it was buzzing, nobody really knew what to expect and the overall execution of the game was excellent, it was critcially acclaimed primarily for its multiplayer but as well as its single player campaign which provided thrills and chills all throughout. Modern Warfare 2 was expected to exceed the original (of course) in every possible aspect and it pretty much just did that. Everything from the graphics, new weapons, CO-OP (FINALLY!), and overall presentation has been turned up a notch; and the same great multiplayer people loved from the first one is the same great feel in this game.

However, this isn't a perfect game, there are some minor problems I have with this game. The Single Player Campaign is great, it is pretty much almost completely different from the first game. The first modern warfare was great because it was very diverse, like hardcore sniping missions, to controlling vehicles etc. but Modern Warfare 2's missions feel a little too much alike at times. The game has a lot of moments where you just run and shoot which can get really hectic at times and a lot of moments where you are at the brink of dying haha which is kinda annoying. Another problem is that it is actually shorter than the first game which was very unexpected. Also i feel that the weapons in this are too overwhelming and are not really as balanced as the first game. There are a lot of cheapo cheapo weapons available and there are way too many weapons that are too similar to each other. But other than that, this installment is a worthy sequal and I believe it will sell another 10 million copies in the next couple of monthes. So Buy This Game.

Just like all the other cod its a great game story was awesome the co op missions were fun challenges and multilayer is pretty much the same as the rest

Modern Warfare 2 is a great successor to COD4 (and COD5 for that matter). Obviously there has been a lot of controversy and hype surrounding this title, but I'm here to tell you that it's great on its own. It is more or less a sequel to the first Modern Warfare. There are some familiar characters from COD4 that make an appearance here. Most of the action looks identical to COD4. Overall, it's a lot of fun.

The graphics and framerate are top notch. The visuals are very nice and have roughly the same quality as COD4 (that's a good thing). You can see beautiful vistas with great draw distance. Very little in the way of texture pop in. I couldn't ask for more.

The game mechanics work pretty much the same as COD4. Gun play is very satisfying, and the array of weapons is impressive. Enemies seem fairly bright as they try to flank you. Plus, in some of the grassy, outdoors environments it's kind of hard to see some of them. Firefights can get intense quickly and are sometimes brutally hard (for me).

Multiplayer is just as fun as COD4's. The matchmaking system works pretty much the same way. There are all kinds of medals and awards you can earn. I love the ranking system. If you're big on MP, you will most likely enjoy what Modern Warfare 2 has to offer.

The campaign is pretty short. I got through it in about 6 hours. As I've been saying, there is a lot in Modern Warfare 2 that is similar to COD4. You're mainly getting a new campaign and storyline continuation from COD4 (there is a cliff hanger at the end; Modern Warfare 3 anyone?).
