I really hate to give this game four stars, but one thing kept me from giving it a well-deserved five stars; single-player mode is too short! At 5-6 hours (maybe 7 if you REALLY take your time or die a LOT), this game pulls you in, keeps you on the edge of your seat, then just leaves you hanging. As a big fan of RPGs, which typically range from 20-40+ hours, I actually felt cheated out of more gameplay. This game covers such a wide range of missions that some could've easily been repeated in some fashion without detracting from the game. Short gametime aside, split-screen multiplayer is an absolute blast (I have yet to play multiplayer online) and my friends and I ended up in that mode for longer than it took to finish the game itself. We were disappointed to find that there was no cooperative mode agains the computer available, but we never had an opportunity to get tired of playing one another, so this might be more of an issue later on. Additional and larger maps in this mode would've also been nice, but I'm sure extra maps for download are already in the works. In closing, I would say that this is BY FAR the best FPS for the PS3 and arguably the best game available for the system to date. With some added content that I hope will be available for download, I will happily revise this review and give it the five stars that I'm so close to giving it.

I've finally replaced Halo3... It's well worth some hard earned green to spend days blowing #$@% up!

This game is so well done that I play it all the time. The graphics are amazing and the realism unsurpassed. It keeps you very captivated. I wish there were more types of guns.

Definitely worth owning if you have a PS3. There aren't many great games out there for the PS3, so it almost feels like this is a must own.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (Playstation 3 Review)

I have played different shooters (ie Halo, Rainbow, Medal Of Honor), but this game is action packed and beautiful in the same time. The graphics on these next generation systems will blow you away, the artificial intelligence with kill you faster than you can snipe them out, and the online game play will make you single again. Say welcome to early morning and endless nights of combat, Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the next level in gaming!

The pq of this game on my Sony 52" XBR is truly amazing. It feels like you're actually in the action and it's probably the best FPS I've ever played.

If you like first person war shooters this game is it for PS3 so far... Graphics, realism, and depth of each level are top notch. Only complaint I had was the time it took to beat, game was finished in less than two sittings on the first difficulty level. I've since begun again on a harder setting and its taking a bit more time and still just as fun. Overal best game I've played yet for my PS3. If you don't like this game you just don't know.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare may well be the game of the year, it is one of the most fun I had in a game for a while, especially for a first person shooter. Resistance: Fall of Man, Rainbow Six Vegas and Call of Duty 3 are the only first person hooter games I got and that all are good in there own way. Call of Duty easily beats all of them out of the competition. Call of Duty completely delivers in almost every category that a game is based on. The graphics are the best (But a lil better on 360), The sound is immersive that you would think you were actually on the battlefield if you were blind/. The presentation is great, its like you are actually in the game sometimes.

There are a lot of people complaining about the single player campaign, that it is too short, and I'm very sad to report that it is pretty short. But even though it is short, the replay value is great even after you beat the game. First is obviously the online play, it is one of the deepest online mechanics, from customizing your own class to customizing your weapons the online play will keep you playing long into the end of next year. Plus once you beat the game, there is an arcade mode in which you play the campaign only this time there is a point system and you earn points from killing enemies. There is also split screen with 4 players which was absent from Call of Duty 3 for the PS3 last year which annoyed the f*** outta me. But even so there is very little things wrong with this game and 10x better than call of duty 3 so pick it up cuz this is one of the best games for the PS3 this year.

PROS

-Gameplay - tight PS3 controls (can't wait till Dualshock 3)

-Graphics - one of the realest graphics I have ever seen

-Sound - Call of duty has always been famous for its authentic sound and this one's no different

-Campaign - short but one of the best campaigns of all time in my opinion

-Online (Multiplayer) - FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!

-Replay Value - VERY VERY HIGH

CONS

-Campaign a lil short

-No CO-OP

THE BEST PS3 GAME RIGHT NOW

I am loving this game. I spent nearly all day playing it recently, and I believe that was time well spent. This is perhaps the best war game I've ever played and it certainly ranks right up there with one of the best games ever. The graphics definitely are something to behold. That being said, I still think Gears of War's graphics are slightly better (slightly). The gameplay more than makes up for that. It is constantly insane and raucous. I played it on normal difficulty and it still challenged me at nearly every turn. The variety of missions is so satisfying. I've never been bored with this game for one second. However, I have been frustrated several times (especially at the end, which is where things get really challenging). I can't really think of anything that's bad about this game. I've not had any framerate issues to speak of. The sound is crisp and clear. It's totally engaging in every way. This game really shows what the PS3 can do.

I've been a fan of the CoD franchise since I first parachuted into Normandy with the first game. And in both Infinity Ward-developed CoD titles, the single player experience has remained the paramount feature of the game. Yes, they're heavily scripted. Yes, they can be frustrating. But the overall experience was always far greater than the sum of its parts. It got to the point where Call of Duty was, in my mind, entirely about the solo campaign.

Well, as of now, that's gone. And the new reality is even better.

Yes, the single player campaign in CoD4 is excellent, if a bit overly frustrating. (For example, there are no sophisticated cover mechanics for the player, but the enemies can fire blindly with minimal exposure and incredible accuracy.) Also, the infinite spawning of bad guys has always bothered me. Tactical shooters should be about matching up against an enemy force and overcoming it, not running and being shot because the machinegunner you've killed 50 times keeps magically replacing himself. (To see what I consider sound "tactical" gameplay, see Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, another excellent game)

Despite this, the missions are often just fun. They're well-paced, varied in the types of engagements, and certain missions like "Death From Above" are just pure gamer candy.

But all this is a side show now. CoD4's multiplayer system is their masterpiece.

They took a seemingly simple, overdone product, the team-based military shooter, and imbued it with so many great ideas and refinements that it will push almost any other similar game into the resale pile. The level-up system, the challenges, and endlessly customizable perks do a great job of encouraging the player to try new things and step out of their comfort zone. Little things like the fact that you can now see enemy soldiers on the map when they fire their weapons, and the simple fact that your randomly assigned faction no longer limits your equipment do a lot to make the game more fun and less of a hassle.

For those of you who don't like the multiplayer thing, I was one of you. I came to the multiplayer with a lot of skepticism. Let me tell you, I don't even care about the single player campaign any more. The multiplayer is just brilliantly done. And the real benefit of this is that the game's value per dollar is FAR better this way than if it were bound to the relatively short single player campaign.

Graphically, this is the best next generation shooter yet. Resistance: Fall of Man has a better story and some better options, but this is graphically superior, in my opinion. RFOM 2 will give it a challenge.

This game has very good graphics and very addictive if u play single or online. For $40, I think it is a good deal.

I think this game is as good and better than Resistance: Fall of Man game.

I haven't had this much fun since counterstrike was invented! The story line and cinematics are very very well done. Initially I was skeptical on whether this would be a hit since COD1-3 was always based on WWII. I wasn't interested in those series but I would have to say this game is totally different.

This is a great game that is worth every penny, and it is not a cheep game. If you are a fan of COD or especially MOH, get the game. the graphics are 10 times better than the graphics on the ps2. If you have a ps3 buy the game. You are not a reel gammer intil you get it.
