Let me start out by saying that this games storyline is one of the best out there. The graphics are in my opinion just as good as they need to be. Gamplay is also very fun and is a mix of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 and Call of Duty 2. Unless you have no variety in your life you should give this game a try, but of course download the demo first.

I have played many World War II games, and this one is near the top. Outstanding game play is supported by an intriguing story line and amazing graphics. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I loved the shamelessly gory violence. The action is thrilling and the game is longer--more scenes and screens to negotiate--than most others. Only one drawback: the enemy AI isn't so great. If you stay behind cover, the enemy will never come after you. Also, although I suppose it's the same with all others, why does the enemy always fight to the death? Wouldn't it be better if they sometimes tried to surrender or simply ran off? Anyway, I highly recommend this game. I bought if for $11--it's worth five times that.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game. It was cheap and I had lots of fun on the story/single player game play.

Needed to replace original game after inadvertently damaging it.

Glad the used price was very reasonable. Might consider cloning to prevent future mishaps.

I will admit that run and gun is fun for a while, but realism is what makes a tactical shooter game, especially a WWII-based game, more appealing to me. Each mission requires you to think tactically in order to complete each operation successfully. You can even reload the level and try a different tactical maneuver. I encourage everyone to try the game first on the easy level just to get use to the controls. They are slightly different from your traditional shooter setups. Second, after completing the easy setting, try it again on Normal difficulty, and if you are really adept, try the authentic mode where all assistance is turned off and requires a higher skill level to complete. The enemy AI on the Normal and Authentic difficulty settings will definitely challenge you. One shot can kill you - so no heroes are made here. The game has a high replay value in my opinion, since the enemy AI does not behave the same each time.

If you like FPS and RTS then this is the game for you, not only do you have to watch out for your life but also the lives of your men. I'm a huge fan of everything WW2 any book, video or game I can find I buy. And being a fan of all of the CoD games and wanting more I decided to try this and was hooked immediately. This game isn't for everybody but for the price and getting a really cool toy it's very worth it.

A SIDE NOTE AND WARNING:

BiA Hell's Highway I completely recommend but if you have a machine that is running Vista DO NOT.. I repeat DO NOT buy the previous Brother in Arms games, I bought them and not only did they not work, they completely crashed my computer and I had to reinstall my os. Luckily I backup all my files on external hard drives otherwise i'd be 10 times more upset then I am now about what happened and ubisoft still hasn't fixed the vista compatiablity issue and don't seem to care. So Hells highway 5 stars.. the rest of the brothers in arms games negative 100!

This was a Christmas present for my son. He loves this game on XBOX live. He plays it all the time!

its an older game, so now its worth the $20 or so. this is a game that tries to do 2 things at once: be a FPS, and a squad command- tactical game. the squad orders work well, but the controls of the FPS side just arent as smooth as other games. you cant jump, or lie prone. when sprinting, you really cant turn....i suppose sprinting is supposed to be used just for dashing from cover to cover. the 'dig in' feature is nice, although it takes quite a long while when you pop up to 'site in' your rifle. the graphics are very good, even for being several years old. the story is deep, the characters are well rounded. also, this is a VERY long game. prepare to spend many, many hours to get through the end. i have no idea how far i am into the game, but i though i would have finished twice by now. it isnt a bad thing, as many games are too short nowadays.

A good playable game, much like all the others, but it costs as much as renting a game so how can you complain about that? I would buy it again.

Gameplay: A pleasant surprise how creative and innovative this FPS was. Throughout each level you typically command two squadrons such as an assault team and bazooka team where you can assign them to take cover behind different barricades such as wood fences, next to windows, or brick walls. There you can order them to do tasks such as destroy enemy cover, lay down suppressive fire, or flank the enemy. You can choose to either be the sniper or rush in with your squad to quickly shoot down your foes. Healing system is the simple hide behind cover for five seconds and you're healed.

-There is a lack of variety of weapons, not even ten. However, you carry one rifle and machine gun, a pistol and up to six grenades at a time. However you recieve 20 magazines for each of your firearms and can come across ammo stashes to replenish your ammunition.

-The AI are all fairly intelligent which was a major relief as a huge part of the gameplay is commanding AI.The only problem I had was that sometimes they would run into enemy fire in order to get to a destination instead of going around them, in short they would go the quicker route instead of the safer route.

-A few levels you control tanks and the controls for that were fairly simply and smooth. I enjoyed blowing up sandbag bunkers and blowing up enemy tanks.

-There are ten levels and therefore this game shouldn't take more than 10 hours to complete, but each level is pretty long and action-packed to compensate.

CONS: No melee attack whatsoever. Short campaign. Story and characters aren't particularly intriguing. Grenades are fairly inaccurate and hard to aim. Lack of variety of weapons. 225 achievemant points are for pointless tasks such as playing the game every week for three months or on Sep 17th. Multiplayer achievemants are worth 0 actual points. Graphics and voice audio are below average.

Graphics: The games falls far behind the likes of the Call of Duty, Battlefield: Bad Company, and even the Medal of Honor games. The visuals are far from crisp, the texture of enviroments can seem muddled at times, and all the enemy AI look pretty much the same,

Audio: Standard at best, often times I couldn't tell the distinguish different voices and had a hard time trying to figure out which squad or character was talking in the heat of battle.

Story: Nothing run of the mill about it. Simply a squad of soldiers simply following orders to fight Germans and minimize casualties of alliles and innocents while dealing with their own personal demons and dilemmas. Unfortunately, you are unable to skip a fair amount of the cut scenes and will be forced to follow the plot.

Achievemants: A single run through you will probably obtain, with relative ease, around 700 pts and difficulty fortunately does not affect the achievemants. However, 225 of the achievemant points are recieve for doing pointless, hindering tasks such as playing the game on Sep 17th, playing 7 days back-to-back for an entire week, or 100 days in row which is completely stupid and unrealistic.

I'm still playing this game, but not as often as I would if the buttons hadn't been changed or if I were given the option to use the same button arrangement as in first two games. Why is R2 the only option for a fire button? Otherwise, the game is mostly fun and challenging.

I've played both PS2 titles of Brothers in Arms so I knew I had to check this game out. The graphics are a bit better than the PS2 versions but the gameplay is nearly identical. I hope they do better on any future releases. I do like this concept over the typical FPS. Actually controlling your men to work together to take out the enemy versus going in guns blazing.
