Bioshock 2 is a huge jump in terms of gameplay, it is smoother and presents a variety of options- there is no one way or right way to approach the battles. Bioshock is one of my favorite games of all time, compelling story, fun to play, and Bioshock 2 easily lives up to its standard. The learning curve is steep, but well worth it. There are many games that are a blast to play and some with good stories, but few are in Bioshock and Bioshock 2's league. There is so much in this game and so much fun to find.

If you loved playing Bioshock then you'll love this game too. Even though you play a Big Daddy the game-play is much the same and now you get all the cool stuff that the Big Daddy's got to use in the first game. Rapture is awesome and the scenes and sounds draw you into the story. Even if you haven't played the first game you won't fell left out in the cold because the second game storyline is a prequel to Bioshock. I love it and can't stop playing.

If you've played the first Bioshock you know what you're in for. Lots more of Rapture, except this time with better controls and the mutliplayer is extremely well done too.

If you enjoyed bioshock then you will love bioshock 2. Ignore the critics 8.0 and 4 out of 5 scores. This game is a strong 5 out of 5 or 9.5 out of 10!!

If you liked the first, you should like this too. Great art and presentation.

Bioshock 2 is a wonderful sequel. The singleplayer mode wasn't ruined by designers who tried to "revolutionize" the gameplay that we already thought was amazing. The graphics are hardly improved -- this is good, because the graphics of Bioshock 1 were already fantastic; this makes both games' replay values very high. As it is, I still haven't beaten the single player mode -- I'm playing my first go through on Hard mode, in attempt to get all of the single player trophies in one try.

The multiplayer is also great! There are different types of gameplay: deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF, King of the Hill, zone capture. They created a ranking system, so that not everyone can get the best weapons and plasmids when they first start out. The games are also matched, so that games aren't all low-levels vs. all high-levels. The only issue I have with the matching, is that during a game, if people leave, you have to wait for all of the rounds to end before the teams rebalance. There is also DLC available -- masks, character asthetics, and the max level is raised to 50 from 40.

The game should keep one happy for hundreds of hours.

The game is tougher than the first especially when you have to protect the little sister while she is drawing out the plasma.

The game play and environment takes place in a similar environment as the first Bioshock.

Overall, much has been written about the game. I really enjoyed Bioshock 1 and still have it on my shelf. I'm 3/4 of the way done with the single player mode of Bioshock 2 and so far I'm having fun with it. I'm certain I will play this again two more times in addition to trying out the online play. Again, in my opinion this game is more challenging.

Its a game worth buying and playing. As others stated, if you haven't played the first one yet, do that first.

A very immersive game. The atmosphere is great and the story was told very well. The gameplay was great as well. I believe that EVERYONE should play this game or watch someone else play the game.

This was just as amazing as the first one! The only downside was the new lighting and smoke effects which seemed to be a lot less appealing. But EVERYthing else was just awesome! Must have for fans of the first also the online is just fantastic!

This game is by far one of the most interesting stories and enjoyable games out right now. You don't have to have played Bioshock to understand two. But it really does help and furthers your enjoyment in the story. It is filled with neat little add ons to the first game to blow your mind. I recommend for "maximum mind blowing" experience, to play Bioshock 1 and then this one.

First and foremost, I would like to say that the first Bioshock completely blew my mind. Whether it was the plasmids, the engaging storyline, or the sick graphics. Having said that, you get basically a new dose of "Adam" even though you're thoroughly spent. What made the first Bioshock utterly amazing was the fact it was essentially a unique game playing experience that no other game could offer. Wielding guns and plasmids made for a great time killing "Adam"-addicts and Big Brothers, etc. Going into the unknown of Rapture itself was definitely an experience because you as the player did not know what the city was capable or nor what was living in it. The second time around, I kinda yawned through parts of it as there really wasn't too much that was new this time as you're basically the hero once again in the same city, doing the same thing (using guns and plasmids to kill the baddies), and either rescuing or harvesting Little Sisters. If you're expecting a completely new game where it's a new city and a ton of new features that the first game didn't have, you'll be sorely disappointed. But if you can honestly call yourself a huge fan of the first and don't mind getting more of the same, this game is definitely for you. Personally, I felt the majority of this game was as if I bought NCAA Football 10 after being in love with NCAA Football 09 or any other yearly update of a sports game. Don't get me wrong, the Bioshock series is better than 90% of games out there, but there was too much that was rehashed for me to really consider this a GOTY or anything in the upper echelon of games. The fascination and curiosity I had throughout playing the first game was not present as I knew what to expect (for the most part) and how to work my way through the game. I'm not interested in playing the multiplayer Bioshock 2 as I prefer COD: MW2 like most people, so if anybody is in love with what 2K is doing with their online gameplay then have at it. I realize this is an early review and I haven't played every crevice of game thus far, but remember it's my own opinion, so take it as you want. This would be a welcomed addition to most game collections, but to the younger generation who do not have a steady income, I would suggest renting the game and moving on to something new afterwards.

The game is good. People complain that it's almost like the first Bioshock with a few changes. But what did you expect its PART 2? They set up Rapture to go along with the story. It's 10yrs later not that much should have changed. If you thought everthing was suppose to be different and still keep the same story, it can't. Rapture had to stay the same and just show a 10 year deteriorating period. You get to use your Plasma and weapon at the same time(which you will need in order to handel what seems like even more aggressive and crazier groups of Rapture residents) no more back and forth between battles. New tougher, much faster enemies that come at you out of no where... (I LOVE IT). And a really good story.(in my opinion anyway) The would be humans show the effects of the doctors death in the part 1 in the way they look(not more quick fixes and face jobs to look human). I must admit I haven't beat the game. But from what I have seen so far this is a wonderful addition to the franchise. It would be hard to top the 1st game the only thing you can do is go from there and build on it.

2k/Bioware did a good job adding to it. If my opinion changes so does my rating. As of now it's 5 star bound. The people that gave it a 3 have a right to there opinion. I just think their imagination about what to expect when this came out got the best of them. They did it to themselves. Bio2 delivers on what it promised. 4 star... I can take that. But 3-1 stars? no way.

Bottom line is... if you loved the first one, you will enjoy this one. It does seem strange having such poor health (at the start) as a Big Daddy. The new hacking system is MUCH better than the old one... less frustrating too. The graphics probably could have been better for the PS3, but I'm not complaining. Pick it up!

I like the easier hacker games in this game. The original Bioshock had difficult hacker games that were numerous. I often times used a buy out for the first one. In the sequel, I loved the replacement. It is easier, quicker, and still challenging (but not frustrating). the story is suspenseful and interesting. I have more confidence being a big daddy protected by armor and having WAY more slots for your spices. Fighting the big daddies was hard enough in the first without stumbling with the controls; switching from plasmids to weapons. You can use both in the sequel. I loved the choices you have to make throughout in dealing with little sisters and various characters. There are consequences with your actions and it is sometimes challenging to be good. You can harvest little sisters; which is especially cruel being that you are a big daddy. I had the most fun adopting little sisters and protecting them while they collect Adam. It took some strategy before hand, something that i did not enjoy as much as in the first.

All this talk about the sequel must make you think that I didn't like the first. I loved the first Bioshock immensely! This series is my new favorite. It's dark, and scary, and very suspenseful. The first time I saved all the little sisters I heard a bone chilling scream. I really scared me. I knew it was the big sister, but still it took me off guard. I felt cornered and trapped. Desperate to survive. She moved quick. Damn quick! And jumped everywhere in ways I couldn't. Only by playing smart, and hitting hard, did I survive. I had so much fun playing this game.
