I was having a hard time choosing between this game, Darksiders and Bayonetta and I think I made the right choice. For starters this game is alot of fun. The graphics are really good, picture perfect. The gameplay is good also lots of duck, cover, and fire. The AI seems way more responsive and better than the last game with different commands you issue your partner,Also you can switch from a right angle OTS to left angle OTS witch is really helpfull for those enemies who are hard to see on either side of the screen. One thing I have a problem about this game just like any other action game that has come out for the ps3 and xbox 360 is the lenght of the single player campaign. I've played the game for 3 hours now and I'm already on the 3rd chapter, I checked my trophie menu on my ps3 and counted only 5 chapters in the game. This is the reason I play rpg's because you actually get your $60 dollars worth. Videogame companies spend too much time trying to make the online gaming experience so great that they make the regular playthrough so short. Not alot of people can play online so they can only hope that the game is long enough to make it worth there while and money.I have not played online yet so I can't tell you if it is good or not, from what I've read it is alot of fun. Oh yeah I didn't mention the weapon upgrades, there are plenty of awsome weapons witch can be upgraded with different components that you either find throughout the game or you get depending on some situation choices that you make during your game. So besides my one complaint about the game beng short, it is a really fun game and probably even better if you play with a friend.
I own both a PS3 and an XBOX 360, this game is totally about having fun. Bayonetta gameplay is fun, fast, and furious. The story is so-so but in the long run it's the characters struggle that will keep you going. I don't know about "offensive"... the packaging clearly states "M" mature so if your not "mature" enuff, those who are "offended" should find other ways to piss on other parties. Im all about gameplay and game presentation, I don't care about technical "ps3" is better "360" is better BS. BadAss games now a days come out every so and so months apart so it's either your still in playing that greatest game you fell in love with 2 yrs ago, or your feeling like something new. Bayonetta delivers fun gameplay more or less interesting story, stylish fighting , a hot heroine character(we all know we don't want to see super man a out of shape ugly bastard for all you "offended" people)Bayonetta is totally fun game that people shouldn't overlook. I recommend anyone before trying bayonetta should first ask yourself the question "when was the last time i played something fun and new?" 5 stars for both systems!
It's one of best game I ever played. Excellent graphics, good control, very nice history (mature and, this time, we are not a "good girl") Bayonetta has a very cool personality and she is very sexy in her own way. Fighting agains tools of God has its delight.
It's a "must to have".
Wow, this game is so different from the Devil May Cry series and fans of that series will love the little tid bits of homage it pays to our favorite Devil Hunter. Pure action, this game really kicks up the ass kicking to a whole new level. There are so many ways to whoop on your enemies in this game that it almost seems unfair to them. But after you die in one spot 4 times you lose all sympathy in an instant. Sure the story is a little bit all over the place but it is still entertaining, it's like playing an over the top action popcorn flick and its all at your finger tips. The different combinations of how to setup your weapons really caters your playing style where as in Devil May Cry there really wasn't room for a whole lot of variety. I recently beat it last week and I haven't even attempted getting the secret weapons yet. Nor have I played through hard mode yet which for sanity's sake I might hold off on. I have one gripe about this game, some levels can get a little annoying after a while certain themed levels. Besides that different sections of the levels called verses can be uneven in difficulty especially when you first start out. You may feel you have a handle on the difficulty then one section just continues to knock you out over and over. That may get discouraging but when you finally beat it you realize you were fighting that enemy the wrong way or that the new weapon you unlocked may make that encounter easier later. But for all that negative this still stands out as probably one of the coolest and most creative action games I've played in a long time. The cut scenes are a work of Gun Fu art, and I thought when Devil May Cry 3 came out those few years ago cut scenes couldn't get any more enjoyable or ridiculous. I'd definitely say that Bayonetta is one cool chick and is a new player in comparing who could kick whose ass in those video game/anime debates. I'd say there is a character now who could take on Dante and that nasty vampire Alucard. On a side note this game actually runs in 1080p something I was quite shocked with, great graphics awesome combos relentless action Bayonetta needs to be in your video game catalog. If you're on the fence about getting it get off that fence and fly yourself to the moon with some ass kicking action. Happy Gaming and here's hoping the sequel is in the works couldn't be happier with my purchase.
THIS IS A VERY FUN AND EXCITING GAME. IT OFFERS UP THE RIGHT LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY AND EASE OF GAMEPLAY. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THAT I WISH BAYONETTA HAD MORE WEAPONS. SHE'S ABLE TO WIELD MULTIPLE WEAPONS FROM HER ENEMIES BUT THEY HAVE A SHORT LIFESPAN. I RECOMMEND THIS GAME FOR EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY FANS OF DEVIL MAY CRY.
Is a great game, is not noticed that the port is worst than the xbox version, but the game instead is a grat master piece, not like Devil may cry of course.
I went out yesterday and bought Army of Two: The 40th Day at Best Buy. I hurry home to play the game and the game started out good. The beginning cut scenes are great and the graphics are really good of Shanghai, China. I was impressed because the graphics in this game reminded me a lot of the graphics in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Okay here is the difference between this game and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The AI in Uncharted 2 is a lot better. I played the role of Elliot Salem in the Single Player Campaign and the AI played the role of Tyson Rios. Well, in our first firefight together I told Rios to hold fast in front of enemy soldiers while I went around to try to outflank them. Well by the time I got around behind the enemy soldiers, all of the enemy soldiers were aready dead. Rios had killed them all. I thought what fun was that. I wanted to fight and kill some enemy soldiers. Then the next time I told Rios to go take prisoner a enemy officer that was behind a group of enemy soldiers. Well Rios sneaks up on the enemy officer while the enemy officer walks in front of the enemy soldiers. Rios was able to grab the enemy officer and hold him hostage in front of all the enemy soldiers. I thought to myself why didn't the enemy soldiers react and do anything to stop Rios from grabbing their commanding officer? It didn't make any sense. Then I noticed when I shot at the enemy soldiers that they fall down and die way too easy. The enemy soldiers in the first Army of Two game were a lot harder to take down and kill.
Now I've only played the first part of the game and maybe it will get better later on. I suggest for the first part of the game to play on the hardest setting. If I notice any big differences in the game later on, I'll try to update the game with a better rating.
JANUARY 20, 2010 UPDATE: Okay, so I just finished playing the game and here are my thoughts on the game now. The first part of the game I reviewed was the first Chapter to the Single Player Campaign. There are a total of seven Chapters to play through. The first Chapter is more like a tutorial on how to play the game. It was easy but the later Chapters got a lot harder. The AI is actually quite good in the game. My partner (Rios) in the game helped me out quite a bit and the enemy soldiers were pretty good at using cover to hide behind and trying to outflank you. I love how you can upgrade your weapons and how you can use your partner in a lot of different situations to help out. The battles and firefights throughout the game are pretty intense. I ended up really enjoying the game. I would recommend going out and buying the game. I give the game five stars now on my rating instead of three.
I bought the game because a few friends recommended it and I kind of liked the demo. When I actually played the full game, I was a little disappointed. The game's story is very weak in plot and not very interesting. The game's character has a lot of attacks and abilities. Everything about the game seems over the top and chaotic. The graphics are nice and some of the attacks are good, but that's it. The musical score sucks, the cinema scenes are mediocre and the overall feel of the game felt underwhelming.
Bayonetta had been on my radar for a bit, I was interested in buying it last year when it was originally supposed to be released, but after the delay I had lost most of my interest. As the release date arrived, I purchased the game, a little skeptical after some things that I was hearing. First of all, let me just say that this has quickly become one of my favorite games of this generation. The gameplay and story had me so addicted I could not put the game down. Another thing I would like to mention is to please not let these complaints about graphics and loading times turn you away. I found the graphics to be beautiful and loading times really are not as bad as people make them out to be, and after the first day you honestly don't notice them anymore. The music was wonderful and really captured the feel of the game. Overall I would highly reccommend this game to anyone, and I am hoping we hear word of a sequel.
So I just received Bayonetta in the mail from Amazon today and I must say first off it was not what I expected it to be. I first bought it in intentions as it was going to be like Devil May Cry. Wrong, very wrong. This game is like Devil May Cry yes but there is so much more of a difference as well.
At the beginning of the story, a flashback depicts a portion of the great battles that emerged between the Umbran Witches and the Lumen Sages. The Umbran Witches were a powerful and ancient clan of women who were capable of projecting magic to their own ends, fueled by the power of the Moon, and the Lumen Sages were an equal group comprised of men who worshiped the light and were fueled by the Sun. The factions shared two distinct treasures, the Eyes of the World that were separately named the 'Left Eye' and the 'Right Eye'. When these two treasures disappeared, the factions disappeared in the midst of a heated conflict that followed.(wiki)
As for the game play it is most certainly different you have 2 different buttons to use the guns in ether her hands or the guns on her feet. You can go into a type of first person view also by going in a circle with the L3 button where you go into a mode where you can gun down the flying enemies. I really like it because you can switch from enemy to enemy very easily and no difficulty at all.
As for fighting with your hands or kicking you can combine your moves to for more deadly combos. If you link your fighting together usually a Giant Hand or Foot will smash down on the enemies at the end of the combo. I really also love the fact that once you dodge an enemy at the last second you go into something called witch time where the enemies are slowed down almost frozen for a certain amount of time and you can lay out just a huge beating. Also air combat is fun as well as you start with a double jump so its a lot easier to get into the air and jump to higher areas if needed.
Onto the graphics, I have seen some amazing graphics in my day but let me be honest these are well put together. I love how the areas look so life like, with how much detail was added in, also I want to confirm I have NOT noticed any TEARING as of YET! So that tearing was ether a rumor or they fixed the issue so don't let that ruin your decision whether to get this game or not.
Now don't get me wrong the Load times can be annoying but while the screen is loading you are able to move around and practice combos if you need to. I personally don't care about the load times as I cant wait to see what comes next. Also I forgot the music is just great it fits the game perfectly.
Final review of the game I love this game It was worth all I paid for it. I think it is a great game I love the challenges that are thrown at me sometimes. I also love the scenery and music. Bayonetta is for anyone honestly so if you feel you might like to try it, go out and at least rent it and see what you think, you never know you may really like it.
Since there's already many detailed reviews out there I'll keep mine brief and lay out the essentials. As many websites pointed out the gameplay is similar to a Zelda game rather than God of War, weapons upgrade as you use them and you can combine them with other trinkets you collect over the course of the game or that you buy from Vulgrim, a demon arms dealer if you will. Weapons and gadgets are acquired in levels that you progress in. Puzzles are simple and fun to figure out. The game feels like playing a comic book, the art style and environment really contribute to that. Combat, platforming and puzzle solving are well balanced. There are minor glitches but not enough to keep you from playing. Another disappointing aspect of the game is that weapons that are upgraded do not feel any more powerful and moves are not quicker. But again it is a minor problem. The game is fun and the developers did a very good job keeping it fresh adding interesting new items and gameplay elements as you progress. I recommend this game to those of you who enjoy fantasy adventure-type games.
I usually dont enjoy any type af anime but this game is amazing. It has lots of action, destructive combos, and a slightly sexual and comedic storyline
This review is for PS3 version of Bayonetta. Myself have the PS3 version and I played my friend's XBox version too. Yes the PS3 loading time is driving me nuts but you can install game data now to PS3, so it isn't that bad anymore.
I read many reviews saying "this game's purpose is only to show a sexy woman beating bad guys," or "this game is way too easy," blah blah blah. Honestly, I bought this game when it first came out in US and I am still playing it!
First of all, if you like Devil May Cry, get this game! It's produced by the same director and everything you see in DMC pretty much appears in Bayonetta.
Second, this is a fast-pace game. Yes you basically have almost all the moves at the beginning, but look at the move lists - do your worst to memorize them! Not to mention that each weapons combination can create new moves that are not on the list at all. You have to really spend time to explore the game. In Very Easy/Easy levels, you get through the game pretty quickly and easily; but if you start the Normal difficulty and you will see why we need Easy level to learn the moves. Dodging is very crucial in this game; you must master dodging in the early difficulty 'cause once you get to Hard or Climax you don't have Witch Time anymore! And that will make this game very difficult! If you get hit in anytime, you might get kill in seconds and don't even have time to re-attack.
Story plot wise, it's not really an amazing story. But it doesn't really matter to me (lol) All the fun I have playing it make up the lack of storyline. But the plot is like a comedy movie, very cute and funny!
Character design: oh yeah Bayonetta...*heart* I am in love with her even I am a woman...I mean I am straight too but whatever~(LOL) Everyone else blends in just fine to light up the whole game.
Overall it's definitely a game to own.
Bayonetta was definitely a surprise when I found out about it on youtube one day. From the creators of Devil May Cry, I could NOT pass it up. It's a lot of fun and although it does lag a at times when its loading, it's something that can be overlooked. The setting and monster designs are very pretty, and if girls (like me) who can overlook the huge amount of sex appeal in the game, they would appreciate the designs too. Who gives a damn if a character twirls on a rod like a stripper or says many sexual innuendos? If the whole game is good, then it's GOOD! The music fits the character's flirty personality very well because heavy metal + Bayonetta? Naaah, not exactly a good combo. The game lacks button-mashing but making combos is a lot of fun. Plus, while loading, you can test try different combos so that you're not TOO bored while waiting. The bosses are huge and there have been many times where I screamed at them for killing me before I drained away the last bit of their health(Fortitudo) but hell, try and try again. The story is okay, but then again, has the creators of DMC ever made an EPIC story with plot twisters or something really out there? Hopefully, if there's a sequel, there will be less loading time, a slightly better storyline, and the ability to collect your points consecutively in the "Angel Attack" minigame. All in all, GO OUT AND GET THIS GAME.
This game is a good way to start off the new year of gaming. Graphics are awesome, like a World of Warcraft feel. The puzzle solving is on a ps1 Tombraider level, and the fighting system is similar to GoW. If you like any of those games for any of those reasons you will for sure be a fan of Darksiders.
I really enjoyed this game, it has about a 10-15 hour gameplay(a lot of going back to get certain things, chests, artifacts, ect. that you couldn't get before without the upgrades you get later on in the game), awesome cinematic scenes, and it loves showing you blood. It's a buy for sure.
