This Game rocks. It is along the lines of God of War. Dont get me wrong, nothing can really beat GOW as of yet. But this game is fun. It took me about 15 hours of game play to beat it on hard. I am not in no way a hard corps gamer but I am average. Game has a great fun factor due to the way you fight the goons. I find trying to find all of the hidden objects within the game just as fun. The extra content is a great add on as well. If I had to purchase the game over however I would buy the regular game. The plastic bat a rang is not really worth the money. Plus the extra add on with it is not really worth it either. There is already 3 free add ons available on the PS3 network at the time of me writing this.

This game is worth buying. Hope this helps anyone looking at this. (It is open for a Sequel)

When you open this package, there are a few items that are great and not so great.

-The Amazon exclusive bonus comic "The Road to Arkham" was a great touch, like icing on a cake.

-The outer plastic sleeve/box is very sturdy.

-The batarang box is very cool looking and is semi-functional; you can put your junk in it and that's pretty much it.

-The batarang is just a scratched up (effects to make it look "used by the Batman") piece of plastic on a stand, which is also made of plastic.

-The downloadable content is great, adding a few hours of artificial replay value.

-The leather Arkham Journal is actually very nicely made, especially in comparison to the batarang.

-The Bonus disc, in my opinion, doesn't have enough content.

-The game is a gem, once you get used to the button controls it's the best Batman game you could ask for. The Challenge mode keeps you playing for a while after completing the campaign, but the Story mode is the bread and butter. The story is fun to play through, even though the generic henchmen all look and behave the same way. It is definitely a game that you should keep on your shelf for a while.

This game is quite entertaining. I actually felt more like Batman than I have with any other Batman-related video game...and I had fun doing it. As far as the collector's edition goes, the only cool thing, I feel, is a psychiatric journal of some of the inmates psych reviews done by an in-game character. It's a very nice insight into the story, atmosphere, and minds of some of the characters in the Batman universe. The collector's edition is a bit overpriced for a plastic Batarang, but the game is well worth the money!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1KGV6YEY6MCAT The video shows the unboxing of the PS3 Collectors Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum.

My review. I have completed the game with one play through and am happy to say it's without doubt the Best Batman game ever made!!! It even got into the Guinness book of world records for crying out loud!!!

"Guinness announced this morning Batman: Arkham Asylum has become 'Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever' due to its average Metacritic score of 91.67, surpassing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Dreamcast which averaged a score of 90."

"We are so pleased to be awarding Batman: Arkham Asylum a Guinness World Record," said Gaz Deaves, Manager at Guinness. "It is a fantastic new game and due to the reaction of gaming experts we believe it has a well deserved place in the Guinness World Records book!"

Gameplay 5/5

The gameplay is smooth and very responsive, whether your beating the crap out of groups of villains or swinging across the room undetected, it just feels like you are Batman! The gadgets add more in-depth gameplay allowing for some unique combos, takedowns and much more! The best and most often used tool in Batman's arsenal is not actually a gadget but a mode called Detectivemode which allows Batman to view the world of Arkham in a whole new way! You can view henchmen's weapons, pulses and view if they are a bigger threat than some of the other inmates, allowing for strategic planning for taking out the heavy hitter's first! The detective mode also allows you to scan the area for potential clues that will lead you to a hostage or villain (depending on the situation)and also scan for The Riddler's infamous Riddles!

Graphics 5/5

The look and presentation of this game is outstanding. Not only did they nail the beefy and serious look for our masked hero but they did a great job on the devious Joker and the overall landscape of Arkham! The other character's in the game are amazing! They're detailed and put into well thought out sketches that resemble ,that of which they came from, the animated cartoon series! When your walking, gliding or fighting in or outside of Arkham you'll notice that the environment changes! It's as if they planned ahead to make sure your not seeing the same old walls or floors every minute.....it's very detailed and I love it!!

Story 5/5

If you have played the demo (if you haven't I'd recommend you do it's very good!) then you pretty much know the idea or plot of the game. Batman captures Joker with ease so Batman is suspicious and Joker breaks loose and takes over the Asylum using all the demented inmates and villains inside to assault Batman with deadly force!! I've seen so many villains it's mind boggling! It's so great to see where they are heading with this and they put huge efforts into thinking like Batman to get it right and from what I've played so far they've nailed it!!!

Overall 5/5 Perfect Score

I just finished the game and am very pleased with the game! The Beginning, Climax and Ending were superb and I don't want to spoil anything for you but.....you'll love how it ends!! I was so excited when I heard Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman) and Mark Hamill (the voice of Joker) were coming back to reprise their roles from the old cartoon series which I am a huge fan off!! Thanks for watching and reading my review hope it helps and please comment!

Have a great day!!!

Buy the regular edition of the game. The game itself is phenomenal.

This collectors edition is not worth the extra money for a crappy plastic batarang.

BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM COLLECTOR'S EDITION is easily the best Batman video game ever made! If you are a fan of Batman then get this game. It challenges you to use strategy as oppose to just the traditional beat down. I bought this game and I have a hard time putting it down.Batman: Arkham Asylum Signature Series Guide Truily a 5-Star game.

The collector's edition isn't an option for fans of The Batman...it's an absolute MUST. Very fun game to play. This just isn't the best Batman game ever, it's easily the best game of the year, so far. The voice acting is magnificent, the graphics are stunning, and the story is riveting. So much so, you'd forget that you are in the comfort of your own quarters, but rather in the highly volatile environment of Arkham Asylum.

Great game as I highly recommend it to anyone!

I enjoy video games but I am not a die-hard by any stretch. Endless repetition whether it is jumping over and over or doing motion A 10 times to do motion B 20 times to do Motion C 30 times to beat a Boss... That stuff bores me plus I suck at it. But THIS game...oh, my God, everybody did a fantastic job with it from the ground up. I desperately did not want to get a PS3 for the expense but when I heard about this game and its incredible concept, I just knew it would be worth it and I was right. Two factors sold me before I ever started and that was the story and script by Paul Dini and the voice cast including Kevin Conroy (really my favorite ever Batman), Mark Hamill (my favorite ever Joker), Arleen Sorkin (as the inimitable Harley Quinn) and others. Even though the art has been tweaked to very good effect, the style and spirit of the Animated Series is there in spades. The less said about the plot, the better. I don't want to spoil anything. Batman's strength has always been his mind and since you're Batman in this game, you get to actually use what you bring to the table. Which isn't to say you don't get to beat the crap out of people. You do but hey they were trying to beat you up first. Well, some of the time. I prefer the non-violent way out but when push comes to shove, it sure is fun to be Batman. The combat sequences are fun and in the challenge mode, they can get quite challenging. The Detective Mode, where certain critical things are highlighted like clues and alternate routes, etc., just plain out rocks. I have heard some complaints that it is visually washed out. Ok but all you have to do is switch out of the mode and the incredible visuals of Arkham Island come to life. And it isn't just the Asylum. You get to go all over the island. There are a number of gadgets you can use or unlock at key points in the game. All awesome. The terrific Rogue's Gallery villains are represented, if not actually interacted with, but this leaves room for the next game. The ones you do meet, especially Hamill's absolute nailing of the Joker, are great. Occasionally, I got turned around somewhat while looking for the Riddler's stuff (a wonderful addition that isn't just fun - you need to complete it for the points to get upgrades) and some of the fighting frustrated me, as did the second half of Croc's lair but what a great payoff! The stealth sequences with the gargoyles and henchmen were always fun because they were based on how you wanted to proceed. The booby-trapped gargoyles, a little less fun but in a good way. I bought the Collector's Edition for the Amazon exclusive comic - really good but too short and the other booklet. I don't care about the Batarang. It is scratched. You can't take it off the stand. It is cheap. So what? This is the best game I've ever played. I couldn't put it down the first week but I had to the second week because I had to start sleeping again. An incredibly professional job from everyone who worked on it. Please make another Batman game of this quality as soon as possible! And one last thing. I absolutely adored the flying sequence on those three little islands. I felt like a superhero. If you're a gamer who likes Batman at all, you really have no choice but to get this game.

Not worth the extra money at all. Just get the Game. all the previous reviews about this being a cheaply made, just thrown plastic junk, not even worth the price kits. and I got mine for $90, I saw some people paid $120, my apologies to those that spent that much, I am still upset I spent $30 extra on this.

Game is fantastic- just don't waste your money on the Collector's edition.

Recieved the Collector's Edition for this game. As such my review will be done in two parts; the review of the Collector's Edition items and features and the review of the actual game.

Collector's Edition features...

The Good: Despite it being cheap plastic and firmly attached to its stand, the Batarang is kind of cool in my opinion. The little doctor's journal is also a nice touch, but feels a lot like a second game manual. The case is by far the best feature. Sturdy and enourmous. The making of DVD has some really cool behind the scenes shots, though an actual interview with Mark Hamill is noticeably missing.

The Bad: There was no need to include a second disc for the Making Of featurettes, most of them are already included on the actual game disc!!! If you play 'Disc One' as a Blu-Ray instead of a game, you get can see the first 3 out of 5 featurettes and some cool trailers on the game disc.

The Ugly: The attempt to put detail on the Batarang by sanding it to make look 'battleworn' is a bit pathetic and pretty half-assed. The cardboard game case is crappy, as are all cardboard cases. The game's disc presentation was also 'blah', both discs being labeled as Disc One and Disc Two respectively instead of Game Disc and Bonus Disc (or something).

Gameplay features...

The Good: All the characters and the scenery looks phenomenal. The sound was absolutely stunning and the inclusion of the voice work of Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and other voice actors from the animated series was a wise decision. The 'Freeflow' combat system works almost flawlessly. The mechanics of the gameplay was awesome as well, though I did find myself frustratingly scratching my head at some of the riddles.

The Bad: Where are all the other villains? Such a huge pool to choose from, but the only ones you actually fight are Bane, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, and Joker. Also, the 'battles' between you and Scarecrow are awesome, but unsatisfying. I wanted so bad to bash that bastard in the face for all the crap he put me through... One game mechanic which was also unnecessary, having to rapidly hit the X key to open a grate. No need to rapidly push it, a single push could probably have done it just as easily.

The Ugly: Can't really think of anything to put in here...

To start off, I would like to thank DC, Eidos, and Rocksteady for providing me with one of the greatest games ever made. I bought my collector's edition from Wal-Mart, so it didn't come with the comic book, but nevertheless, it came with everything else. I don't know why people are knocking the batarang replica. I think it's awesome. Some people say it's too cheaply made, but of course it's just going to be a wall flower. and the scratches do make it look and feel like it has been used by the Dark Knight. I think the the leather bound Penny Young is an awesome edition. You have all of the characters featured in the game with psych profiles, and art, and it's pretty cool seeing it in the perspective of a doctor that interviewed them instead of from someone like Batman. One little insight I'd like to point out about the journal is that on the first profile page is the Joker, and the last Page we have Batman. Amazing stuff. Then you have the digi-pak of the game and the blu-ray bonus disc. I liked the extra features, and everything on the blu-ray, and the option to play everything all at once, but just fumbling around with the game disc on my XMB menu, I saw in the video section that the game disc popped up with all the same features and trailers that was on the blu-ray bonus disc. It kinda urked me a little bit, but I thought to myself, well, if I didn't buy the collector's edition, I wouldn't have the challenge map or the exclusive armor costume for Batman, which are cool codes as well. Regarding those downloadable codes that came with the collector's edition, The challenge map for Crime alley is amazing, I haven't checked it out yet, but I was watching one of my friends play through it, and it's great visually, and the objective was awesome. The armor costume code looks pretty killer as well, and I haven't beaten the game yet, but hope fully the second time through, It would be pretty sweet to see batman in that costume the next time. Those are the contents that came with the Wal-Mart edition of the collector's set. I would say my money was pretty well spent. We've all read other reviews of the game, and we know it's badass. I love the gameplay. The graphics are top notch, the voice acting is like I'm wathing a movie, and the cutscenes are spectacular. I ain't even 25% done with the game, and I'm just having a killer time playing the hell out of it. buy it if you want something to comemorate this awesome Batman release.

did anybody else batarangs have a bunch of scratches all over it? i doubt they made look like that for effect because it just doesn't look right. i love everything else but the scratches on the batarang disappointed me.

The graphics and storyline are seamless and phenomenal. I found it hard to put the controller down. From beginning to end this game is action packed. I love the challenge this game brings and the escalating difficulty. The creators definitely keep if from feeling repetitive. There are three levels of difficulty Easy, Normal, and Hard. If you want to cruise through Easy is great. Normal adds some excitement to the gameplay. Hard is exactly that, hard, but not impossible to manage. This game is lots of fun and has replay value. Whether completing in-game challenges or playing Challenge Mode, this game is a winner in my book.

This game has fighting, gadgets, detective work, sneaking, secret challenges, and you'll travel around all of Arkham Asylum.

  • from Amazon

This game is great. The graphics the controls the atmosphere all are very well done. As far as the collectors edition I would say pass. Sure the Batarang is cool, but not sure its worth the extra money, but the game in general is a must play.

After playing countless of crappy superhero games, I am extremely happy to say that somebody has finally got the formula right. Rocksteady has done an excellent job in bringing not just Batman but a part of his universe and his #1 fan/nemesis correct (The Joker). I 100% recommend this if you are a big fan of both Metal Gear Solid and Metroid because it has a very nice blend of both games with a touch of Bioshock in the visual department. Even if you're not a fan of mentioned title I still recommend this 100% because it is definetly a must play game and something that will probably end up with the Game of the Year award.
